If I could give this place zero stars I would. Staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. I have a pretty busy schedule but I made time and made sure I went to my scheduled appointment on time, just to be told to come back in the following week so my insurance will cover the new glasses. This should have been stated while booking an appointment if they are "looking at my file" so I come once not two times and get an attitude from the lady at the front desk. Make an appointment!!! Do not walk in. Technology advances make Covid appointments amazing! The digital scans of your eyes shared with physicians virtually, with a live zoom conference was excellent! Actually better and more thorough as you get to see your exam results same as the physician does. They review your exam results showing you the scans, something pre Covid that did not happen. Robin is 5 stars! She is the tech who takes you through your exam. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and provides outstanding customer service. So why 3 star review? Deduct 1 Star for lack of inventory of frames that are "covered" Majority are designer frames that are over $200, at least to my liking. Other star deduction is for the manager. Her customer service skills are deplorable. Very rough around the edges. Seems cranky more often than not. And even if she's not helping you, she's in your business and just not helpful. I have no choice, I have to come here because it's where my coverage dictates. read more

Customer service is the worst. Very difficult to make an appointment on their automated system. Extremely rude and unpleasant staff from the minute you walk in the door. Every member of the staff including the doctor on the telehealth visit is miserable. They try and up sell you on everything and when you ask for an explanation of what your insurance covers, they snap back at you. Not a pleasant experience at all. read more

The policy of the company is unrealistic and rude! We arrived a little over 10 minutes late for an appointment and even though they were waiting around for their next patient to arrive; no exceptions would be made! We were told that it is company policy to allow no more than 10 minutes grace for an appointment! Well out here, if you get stuck behind a tractor, you are going to be late!! I have vision insurance that covers me for free glasses every 12 month but somehow I always wind up paying these guy $400 on coatings and special treatments! I swore I'd never go back... but it's a local business and I was try to support a local businesses, especially these days. We walked in and saw the usually very nasty manager, and although we almost turned around to walk out we opted to stay. She was, well, ok. We set up two appointments with the manager, in the facility, and had to wait a few weeks to see a doctor. We were just called today, the day of the appointment, to say there must be some confusion the Doctor is leaving at 4:30. Your appointments are for 4:45 and 5:00. Oh well! You can go online and make another appointment but I'm sure it won't be for another few weeks. How do they stay in business when they continue to provide the most disrespectful customer service in the neighborhood? This was the last straw. You just lost our business. You do the math: Two customers x 5 pairs of glasses each a year x 20 years = EPIC FAIL! Not to mention negative reviews and word of mouth (we are locals). read more

I went to this location last Wednesday (2/1/17) to get my son a pair of glasses. We have a prescription from an ophthalmologist who my son sees for his vision problems. We had originally seen the doctor at the Medford location of Davis Visionworks and were happy.. but he needed a specialist. Upon walking into the location, it was clear there was a very upset customer, although I am not sure what exactly was the problem. I do know that the customer was unhappy, was being treated very poorly and had stormed out moments later. Afterwards, the staff could very clearly be heard speaking poorly about this customer and accepting zero blame for the situation. We waited patiently while our info was put into the system and we were told what would be covered by insurance. We selected 1 of the maybe 3 frames available from what insurance would cover, and the only pair that fit my sons face properly. There was no assistance from ANY employee while we did this. My son was measured, and we were told they glasses would be ordered from the manufacturer and would take 10-14 days to come in. I received a frank, frantic and downright cold voicemail minutes before closing on Saturday that they had broken the frame and we needed to come in and pick out new ones. I returned that call this morning, confused as to why a new set of frames could not be ordered. I was told that they would need to "call 700 stores and that would simply take too much time" and that it would just be easier if I picked out a new pair. Even after explaining that the ones we picked were the ones we wanted... and nothing else... I was given an attitued about how "most customers" will just pick a different pair. I asked for the location manager who was equally as rude, abrasive, and again whined about how long it would take to find another set of those frames. I asked that my order be canceled since they were not willing to make the situation right, to which the response was "We are.. just come pick out new frames" I just hung up and called my insurance to handle this nightmare, who were delighted to work on my behalf and assured me they would not approve the claim for anything from this practice. Simply stated.. you lost a customer whose ENTIRE family wears contacts and glasses. A family who pays out of pocket CASH for most of these expenses. This ENTIRE store staff needed to be replaced, or at minimum trained on customer service. I visited this location after picking up my kid from work in the area. We went in, were not greeted, and upon asking for directions on where to pinpoint a specific selection they responded by saying they were busy and to wait in line at the counter. I didn't have time for that and just found what I was looking for on my own. They had a small selection and I couldn't find my size even after trying on multiple pairs. I was probably in the store for roughly 20-30 minutes, no associates asked if they could help me in anyway and several were available. Due to the small selection and the poor customer service, I will not be returning to this store in particular and Visionworks in general. Customer service was a nightmare from the start. Unable to get anyone on the phone despite multiple attempts at various times and on various days. I made an apt on the website but never received a confirmation email/reminder. I tried the Visionworks online chat but it was a waste of time as it's a robot who cannot answer any legitimate questions. Once in the store, I was treated like garbage from the moment I walked in. All staff members were extremely rude and I was turned away even though I had an appointment. I was told "your vision is too bad to be seen by the telehealth doctor". I asked why it's an option to book an apt for an eye exam with contacts for telehealth if its not appropriate and she said "that's not my job". I was told I needed to reschedule. The tech was extremely rude when I simply gave her my availability saying "you can't force me to give you an apt" when all I said was I work 7-5 and am free any time after that. She then taunted me by trying to have me read the computer screen with small font and said "fine then pick a time" after I repeatedly told her I can't read because my vision is so poor. I walked out in tears. I have been a customer for many years but I will never step foot back in this establishment ever again. It's absolutely disgusting. I was now referred to SoundView Eye Center in Shoreham, which has been a pleasant experience since the very beginning. read more

I've worked in eye care and ophthalmology for the last 20 years. I am currently employed as a certified ophthalmic assistant and surgical coordinator for a large ophthalmology group. We have been dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic for the last 8 months, as has the rest of the world. I'm fully aware that new regulations and protocols are in place. However, I was a bit taken aback when I visited Visionworks in Rocky Point today. I needed my sunglasses adjusted. As I entered the building, I noticed a sign on the door indicating an appointment would be required for all services. I assumed this was in reference to eye exams and selection of glasses. I started to walk over to the reception desk, but was advised by a gentleman to wait by the door. An older woman approached me, and I explained that although I had seen the sign, I was hoping to have my sunglasses adjusted. She immediately said no, and started on a long winded explanation of how to utilize the website in order to schedule an appointment. To have my sunglasses adjusted... even though she and another woman seemed to be available to assist customers. She then continued on to ask if I had noticed how few people were in the store and how that was "closely monitored" due to COVID. I didn't argue, but did mention I worked in healthcare and was very much aware of the current circumstances. When I left the store, I went online to see when the next available "appointment" was... not until Monday. This seems kind of ridiculous, in my opinion. I made an appointment online for an initial eye exam. Davis takes my insurance so although it wasn't my first choice for an optician, I decided to use them. Well, here for my appointment and I am told by a very surly older woman that I didn't make an appointment for an exam but for a selection of glasses. Ok, my bad, so I asked if I could make an appointment for later in the week. The woman was just so sour and unfriendly! While she looked through her computer she was barking at the other 2 ladies working there and clutching a lighter. Finally she told me she didn't have time for this and to go on the computer at home to book it. Great thanks for the assistance and the non-existent customer service. There are plenty of other Davis' around. I'll try a different one. You should too. read more

I am a senior 76 in Rocky Point, NY and needed a vision test to renew my license. I have health issues that make it difficult for me to get around but I received top notch customer service from Davis Visionworks. Heidi worked with me when I had to change dates and times because of my health and her tone of voice was patient and warm...outstanding! Heidi is the best customer service person I have ever dealt with in my 40 year career as a business owner. Dr. Lemkin gave me the eye exam and is professional and very caring and calming to speak with. If you are looking for outstanding eye care ..not just IQ but EQ...the perfect balance of quality in service and eye care, just get in your car and go there! read more

Really not bad people inside the store, my problem is trying to get in touch with them. No reason at all to have to wait for over THIRTY MINUTES for someone to pick up the phone. They do not want to deal with you in a personal manner and prefer to push their website, unmercifully, while you wait on the phone. If I have to wait for someone to answer the phone that long, they should hire someone just to answer the phone. Then, after 37 minutes of waiting, someone will pick up from a call center. Not even the store itself!!!! Unbelievable. They obviously have no idea what customer service is all about. I am definitely going to look into another vision center that has a more personal touch and has no fear of answering a phone. read more

I was told by the extremely RUDE manager KAREN at the Rocky Point location on Long Island, that I needed to make an appointment online for the specific service my daughter needed. I followed the managers directions and was able to make an appointment for 2 weeks after my initial one. My appointment day came and was told (once again by KAREN) that I made the wrong kind of appointment and that customers do not make the kind of appointment I needed, only the manager does. The experiences I have had prior to this were very similar. I'm Always getting wrong information and the communication between employee and customer is ALWAYS confusing. I got mild prescription glasses for distance when I was 17 and had been using the same glasses for 12 years until one lovely snowy day, I dropped them in the snow never to be seen again. I searched for places that accept my very basic Medicaid Healthfirst plan and this place came up. I called on a Friday and was offered an appointment for that afternoon but since I couldn't do that, scheduled it for the next day, Saturday 11:30am. I was greeted at the desk and given paperwork to fill out and when I completed it, it was a little difficult to get attention from the desk staff. But after a few moments, I was led to the pre-test room to have some preliminary eye exams before being seen by the optometrist by a very friendly man who thankfully did not allow me to leave my jacket behind, as I was absent minded enough to do. I was then taken by the optometrist pretty quickly and he was quite friendly too. We did lots of testing of each eye individually and then both eyes together, asking me which image is clearer #1 or #2, dozens of times over, until we got a prescription just right for me. I was then sent to pick out eyeglass frames. I browsed the wall of frames for about 5 minutes until a woman called my name and went over my plan with me, informing me that frames up to $99 would be covered by my health plan, which was a very pleasant surprise. Then another man helped me pick frames that suit my face best. When they saw my birth date on my paperwork, two different people in that office excitedly noted that I am a libra and informed me that they, too, are also libras. I was there for a total of an hour, everything covered by Medicaid, and I will go back in a week to pick up my glasses. I figured I would share my story because so many other people had negative experiences, but I didn't. Maybe you just have to be a libra for them to like you. read more

STAY AWAY......This store is managed by the most inappropriate, rude, unprofessional woman, KAREN. We have had nothing but nightmares in this store. We ordered glasses and they came in weeks later and the lenses were so distorted they needed to be sent back. The manager was disruptive and argumentative with the staff, actually bordering abusive. The salesmen we dealt with tried to clarify what we were asking but she refused to listen. We have had to return twice to the store for credits to our bill because of errors. I posted a review here previously but apparently it was removed by Davis VisionWorks in Rocky Point in an effort to conceal their terrible customer service from those who have been fortunate enough to not have yet experienced it (a.k.a. would be customers). When I showed up for my appointment on December 28, 2020 I was made to wait for 45 minutes. After 40 minutes of waiting I asked Robin (petite woman in her 50s) how much longer the wait would be. In response to my inquiry, Robin started yelling at me that she "explained" to me that she was running late when she called me before the appointment (not true, she called 10 minutes before my appointment only to ask if I was coming in and I responded in the affirmative). First, saying that you are running late does NOT excuse making someone wait 45 minutes for their appointment. Second, she actually did not tell me she was running late. Third, yelling and being condescending to a customer is NEVER okay. Except apparently at Davis VisionWorks in Rocky Point rudeness to customers is perfectly fine as Robin was still working there when I went to pick up the glasses and contact lenses I ordered. I spent $811 on glasses and contact lenses at Davis VisionWorks in Rocky Point. Next time I will take my business somewhere it is appreciated and where I am treated with respect. The only good thing about Davis VisionWorks in Rocky Point are the actual eye doctor and Kaitlyn, who are both very nice and helpful and courteous. read more

Wish there was a "zero" star option. I have to agree with the other posters. This might be the worst optical store on Long Island.....possibly in all of New York. The employees there take things personal and they let their emotions get in the way of business. The doctor has no backbone at all and can't make a decision to save his life because he needs the other employees to make decisions for him. I would rather go find an optometrist through my health provider for a new prescription and order my contacts online. No hassle, no pressure, no wait, no lines, and most importantly....no attitudes. So after the nicer more professional man sat down and addressed my concerns I ordered 2 pairs of glasses. it's now 3 weeks still no call my glasses are ready. so I call the store number which gets you to a computer person which in turn took me 45 minutes to get a real person to talk to me. finally after 3 weeks the women said your glasses are sitting in the store, nobody called you??? stay very far away, I don't care if they give 5 pairs of free glasses with the purchase of 1 not worth my time hunting down my glasses and dealing with unprofessional people. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service! I had purchased contacts about a year ago and asked them to be rushed for a special event. Unfortunately, the order was not processed in time as promised. I had to place another order through a different company and received the contacts in time. I completely forgot to pick the order up and was helping a sick relative for a long period of time. I had the original receipt and went to pick up my order about a year later. I do understand I waited a long period of time to pick my contacts up and explained that. The first time I went into the store to inquire about the order they turned me away and said I had to come back tomorrow when the representative that handles the contacts is in the office. The staff spoke nastily about me among themselves and I could overhear the whole conversation. The woman with blonde hair behind the counter was flailing her arms and speaking very rudely, unfortunately I did not get her name. The next day I returned and they said we don't keep track of any pick ups so even if you have the original receipt we have no way of telling whether or not you picked up the order in the past. I was surprised that they have no tracking system and have no way of telling if a customer picked up their order or not. It was my mistake for waiting a year to pick up my order. The issue I do have is the way they treat their customers. I have never experienced such poor customer service. The staff is absolutely nasty and clearly do not care about their customers. If they would have nicely explained they can't hold orders for a certain period of time there would be no issue and I would not be posting this review. read more

I have been going to Optometrists since I was 5 years old. Since then, 30 years later, I've never had an experience like the one I had with Dr. Clifford Lemkin. Until I saw him I never had someone take the time to make sure my prescription was 100% perfect. He took the time to explain everything he was doing, did eye tests I've NEVER had before, and even fixed my over corrected prescription in one of my eyes. In this day and age of rushing a customer out the door, this man made me feel like I was a priority. Service like this is to be applauded. Men like him are a dying breed, coming from an era where the customer was not just a number, but another human being. After being done with Dr. Lemkin, I was brought to see Robin for my order of contact lenses. Not once did I feel pressured into buying anything and she took care of me as if I were her family member. What else can you ask for from a store than this? My wife has been coming here for years. Although she has applauded how Robin does business, she had never seen Dr. Lemkin. When I told her how I felt leaving, she felt a tad upset that she didn't have the same experience with her previous Optometrists as I did throughout all her years going to this location. Robin and Dr. Lemkin should be the shining example for every other staff member within this location. read more

Always loved the sales guys at Davis Visionworks in Rocky Point because they're super helpful with selecting glasses. Professional, fun ophthalmologists. However, I was just checking on my plan to see if glasses are still covered, when Meghan answered the phone. She was rude throughout the whole conversation. I'd forgotten that our vision plan is separate from our medical insurance plan (I'm human) and I kept trying to figure out how I'd bought glasses and contacts, but they'd done it all so cheaply, without using my insurance. Irritated Meghan was a stark contrast to the Riverhead office. The woman at Riverhead was patient, efficient, and thought to look up my account to see what vision plan I have. This practice is the clear definition of incompetence. From the moment you walk in you hear the staff yelling at each other. The chaos of shuffling papers, phones ringing, staffers talking over each other makes the NY stock exchange appear serene. The way they treat their clients is unacceptable. We were attempting to check in but the manager would ask a question then take a call, repeat the question then walk away to help a staff member, comeback and ask the question again only to stop and assist another staffer. A check in process that should take 2 minutes takes about 45 because of all the interruptions. No one seems to know how to complete any procedure. They consistently yell for help and when help arrives they walk away to do something else instead of learning the process To just order a pair of glasses we saw 6 people and not one stayed with us for more than 5 minutes because not one knew the entire procedure. There are many eyeglass places- go somewhere else. read more
