We accidentally found Dawson's Bar and Grill. Our family had been to the Winters Fair and after we finished browsing we decided we would all go to lunch..all consisted of five adults, one three year old and one two year old. As we entered we were pleasantly greeted and taken to a large table in the back big enough for all of us to be comfortable. The waitress gave us menus and took drink orders. I am so sorry I didn't get her name because she was awesome...wonderful with the kids as well as the adults! The food was plentiful, served quickly and delicious. The kids had scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. My granddaughter had waffles and chicken, son and son in law had burgers, daughter salad and I had egg Benedict. Not one person had a complaint! Food was delicious, served quickly and our service was wonderful... in fact we liked it so much we reserved a table for next Saturday when my grandson flys in with his girlfriend Crome Seattle. I enjoyed coming into this establishment for sure. The service was top notch as it feels like a down home locale. The sea-bass was good- I felt the cook went a bit too well done here - it wasn't "delicately prepared" but it did taste good. Beer selection was fantastic and I had a few nice suds so it was poured just right. The friendly staff makes the place more than the well portioned but overdone food. Unfortunately, we had an awful experience at Buds recently. We brought our Sis & brother in-law to lunch and were ignored for at least 45 minutes! After waiting that long for anyone to notice us, my Son and I went to the bar to order drinks for our table. The time we spent waiting for a waitress to acknowledge our presence we noticed that all the waitress did was complain to the bartenders about how busy she was!!! Then she finally came to our table and when we expressed concern about how long she took - she got indignant and said the other waitresses had called in sick and that she was alone so it was NOT HER FAULT! Group of five drove out to the Dixon maze and pumpkin patch and we wanted to energize up before the giant maze. Dawson's is on a nice corner of a small downtown. We were greeted quickly by the bar tender and we have some drinks for great decent prices. The bar tender was a cool dude. They got us a table and our waitress was super nice. I ordered the giant pretzel and the wagyu sliders. The pretzel was huge and it tasted great and came with some house made sauces. The sliders contained three and a decent amount of food. I haven't tried anything else on their menu except for their amazing Buffalo chicken salad. I just love their salad it the best! Their service is good. It depends on what time you get there and how many orders they need to get done. We usually get seated right away and get our food soon after but at times it takes awhile to get the food. Small town charm! New to the area and my family and I just recently tried this place and we really enjoyed our experience. Staff was very friendly and the food was great! My daughter would give this place 10 stars if she could, they really cater to all ages. There were games like uno and connect 4 and lots of coloring books! I had one happy kid and happy parents that could relax and enjoy our time since she was entertained. lol Menu has a little bit of everything and our choices were very good. Service was unsatisfactory. The restaurant was not busy and after 15 minutes we politely went up to the girl who initially took our drink order and asked if we can order. She was nice and said our server was the girl behind the bar and that she would let her know. When the server who was behind the bar finally addressed our table, we were met with an attitude. Just the bottle... being an ex waitress wayyyy back in the day, our managers always stressed the importance of the customer comes first. I treated my customers the way I would want to be treated. Get them water without them asking, make sure when their food came out it was delivered hot, came back to check on them to see if they needed refills or another beer... nope. Not here. We went here Saturday around 2. We were excited to try a neighborhood restaurant. The place had a pretty large party in the back and a half packed place in front. We sat at the bar thinking we'd get served faster. It took us about 15 minutes before someone came by to take our order. The server was apologetic as there were only 3 people on the floor. Our food came 20 minutes later. We ordered some basic stuff, pastrami sandwich and a burger. The pastrami was average, it had a bit too much dressing that dripped and soaked the bun. The burger was alright, but could use more seasoning. I'll try this place again, perhaps on a less busy day because I really want to give them a 5. read more

Dawson's could quite possibly be one of the hidden gems in Dixon CA. It is the first restaurant we've tried in Dixon since moving to area only a few ago but it gave us a great impression of this quaint little town. The inside of the restaurant is decorated beautifully and appears updated and well kept. The string of lights extending from wall to wall over the dining area and bar are a great touch, as are the other rustic touches that add to the cozy ambiance of this decades-old restaurant like the dark wood finishes and the large wine barrels lining the center of the dining area that also provides additional seating. We sat along the wall and were greeted quickly by a polite server. We asked about happy hour specials, which are $2 off draft beers, house wines and well drinks Mon-Fri from 4-6pm. So we ordered our drinks accordingly and then looked over the menu to decided on our entrees. The menu selection itself is small but better a restaurant offer few options done well rather than pages of options done sloppily. With only a few appetizers/starters, salads, and entrees to chose from I decided on the southwest chop salad with chicken, which I was very happy with. The salad was simple with corn, black beans, jicama, and crispy tortilla chips over romaine lettuce but it was done well and was not too overdressed with the vinaigrette. The part I would say needs improvement is in the time it took to get the entrees to the table. We did begin to wonder what was taking so long to receive our entrees, especially since there were only three other diners in the restaurant, one of which who had their food already. But overall, the food was good once we did receive it so it was worth waiting for. read more

We ordered to eat outside. The waiter was very attentive. Super nice. I ordered a chicken sandwich it was ok not very hot when I got it. fries were good. Two others ordered chicken piccata. It wasn't warm at all when it arrived and the spaghetti was very watery. Went to the restroom and two people were at the bar without masks. Bartender was without mask. Sort of grossed me out. I asked the waiter if the cook was wearing a mask he said no. So I just ate a bunch of food prepared by someone without a mask with covid around. Eww I will not be back read more
