Everything at Daytime is perfect. Lovely selection of snacks, meals, and beverages all at fair prices and excellent quality. The space is beautiful and sunny and is at a fun location in the neighborhood where lots of commuters, neighborhood workers, and people associated with the school across the street are coming and going. It's a nice cross-roads/hub sort of space and feels very ingrained in the neighborhood despite only being a few months old! Great service, too. You can tell that Joey the owner really care about the quality of product and experience. My only suggestion is that the decaf espresso can be a bit stale-tasting sometimes, perhaps because I'm one of only a few people ordering it. read more

This place has good food and nice staff but they need they firm up a laptop policy. The past three times I've been there all the tables are occupied by people working on laptops and long done eating. Being a small space it's a problem that they try to combat by saying it communal but the very tiny bistro tables are pretty intimate. It makes for either uncomfortable situation, lots of hovering and no place to sit and eat so if you are looking to sit down to eat, you may want to go elsewhere. read more

A fantastic little cafe that has good coffee, great sandwiches, and even a small grocery section (mostly hot sauces, pasta, and condiments). My go-to is the egg sandwich with avocado on brioche. The staff is lovely and service is prompt. Daytime is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

We were looking for a quick lunch while we waited for some plexi to get cut. Luckily we found Daytime! It's a bright, open space with houseplants and a marble bartop. They work with a roaster in Red Hook to do their own coffee, which is delicious. We also had a couple of sandwiches, both very tasty and filling. Plus you get your choice of three breads (loved the everything roll!) Several patrons were happily working on laptops or catching up over coffee. Tables are a mix of low and high tops. Truly lovely; I'm delighted to find such a charming coffee shop in the neighborhood. Stopped in for breakfast and to do some work on my laptop and stayed through lunch. Very friendly service, great coffee, wonderful breakfast parfait (yogurt, granola, blueberries, and bananas), and a delicious grilled cheese sandwich (gruyere) with a sweet side salad (arugula). Sat in a table at the back, right next to the window, with light streaming through. A lovely way to pass a few hours--I'll definitely be back (tomorrow)! read more

A nice neighborhood eatery... fresh breads and sandwiches... great and intense coffee... table service is limited and can become a workplace for locals ... which leaves you standing or going outside - which at this time of the year is not good!!!! This place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The food is great as is the coffee. In the morning it tends to get busy, a to-go coffee station would be a big improvement as people are often too pressed for time to wait to put in orders behind people sitting for breakfast. read more

This place is so cute. My husband and I stopped by and sat outside with sandwiches. They only have benches outside but there is a pop-up table top in the middle of the bench. The sandwiches all come with the option of an everything bun, brioche, or whole wheat bread. I got the prosciutto and fig sandwich on the brioche and it was drool worthy. The sandwich had a significant amount of prosciutto and also had honey, gooey ricotta, and lemon preserve that gave the sandwich a perfect mixture of sweet and salty that had me smacking my lips all the way home. Bonus, the sandwiches each came with a side salad and baby pickles. My only reasoning for 4 stars is it is a pricey sandwich for a cute but pretty casual location. read more

The former Tuscan Gun is a now a coffee shop, with pastries breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Atmosphere seems more chill / cozy than its predecessor - and the coffee far better!! Unfortunately the chocolate croissant is prob the worst ive had since i can remember, but will be returning for lunch soon and will re-evaluate star rating. Coffee = 5 Pastry = 1.5 Service = 5. Having said that, its great to have this neighborhood spot back on the map. UPDATE: anything without the bitter lemon is pretty good. The yogurt parfait doesn't hold a candle to the old place, and you MUST check your sandwich and bag before leaving - i have had several premium ingredients omitted and other missing items. They seem to be training inexperienced people who have never worked in food service. read more

Super cute cafe, nice to have something adding life to this location. Convenient to PS 154. I wish they had a few more to-go snack options. Also, one star off the the ridiculous milk situation, which they just need to give up on and get insulated steel containers that you can use one-handed. Currently there are 6 glass bottles of milk bobbing up and down in ice water that you need to open using a rubber gasket system. The milk I wanted was completely submerged, and plunging my hand into that ice water was no fun on a cold day. Personally, for a $3.54 cup of drip coffee, that experience wasn't worth it to me, so I probably won't end up going back for coffee in the morning. read more

Okay, all of the food here is good, but they also have THE BEST LEMONADE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Not too sweet, and I crave it constantly. I'm not even a big beverage person, I usually just drink water. Take that with a gran of salt, because my wife doesn't see what the big deal is. I visited Daytime for the first time this morning. My wife has been a few times prior. The cafe was busy, but the wait wasn't long. We had the avocado toast, mushroom toast and a grilled cheese sandwich. The food and coffee was excellent. This place is great for dietary restrictions as well. - Vegan/vegetarian/GF. Have been there a handful of times since they opened. The sandwiches are decent and it's nice to have a place where you can get something to eat fairly quickly. My main critique is that the salads are always extremely salty; I am a salt fiend and even I can't handle it in terms of the taste and extreme thirst I have for the rest of the day. read more
