Went in and picked it up within 24 hours for one of the cheapest prices in the San Diego area. Very helpful, professional and quick. The hard drive in my wife's early 2008 MacBook Pro died, so, after watching a video on how to replace the drive and concluding that I'd probably mess it up if I tried it myself, I searched Yelp and found this place. Tucked away in a nice neighborhood on Vermont just north of University, the parking in back is good. Daniel helped me as soon as I walked into the door. He checked the computer and confirmed that it was the hard drive, saying that he could replace it with a faster and larger capacity drive for about $225. I left the computer there, along with the Time Machine external hard drive, and they said it would be 2-3 days (they mentioned that there were 60 computers in the queue before me). Later, I called and asked for an even larger drive and ended up paying $250 for the 500 GB 7200 rpm drive. They called today (2 days later) and said it was ready. I was again greeted with excellent service when I went to pick it up. The computer works fine now and is faster than ever. They reinstalled Mavericks, iLife, iWorks, and her latest backup. They even replaced a key that has been missing from the keyboard for some time. I didn't notice, but my wife did right away and was very pleased. We have plenty of old Mac computers, and I'm happy to have found this excellent repair shop. I'd recommend them to everyone. I didn't see the cat. read more

When our Mac became too outdated, we searched for new and used Macs and stumbled upon DC Computers - and what a find! We had terrific help in selecting the right Mac for us. The partner even agreed to meet with us during the playoff game on a Sunday, so we felt the service was above and beyond. I give Daniel & Chris (DC) 4 out of 5 only 'cause nobody is perfect but they are close to being perfect for my computer needs. As if these guys need another fantastic review; however, 5 stars truly does depict how they do business. I walked into DC Computers with almost no knowledge about Macs and asked to be brought to the "dark side". They took the time to go over my needs and find a machine that would suit me perfectly. Once we had decided on the Aluminum Body Macbook, the owner of DC Computers even took the time go over the entire operating system with me to ensure I felt comfortable using my new purchase. This in itself would have been a great review but this is where things get interesting. I left the store very satisfied with my new purchased. So satisfied that the computer never left my side for the next 4 days. Unfortunately, that meant it was also subject to all the clumsy s*** that I do. After 4 days of pleasurable use, I decided that it would be a good idea to accidentally spill a full class of iced tea all over my new Macbook. Obviously, this quickly ended my computing enjoyment. Frustrated, I returned to DC Computers to see if they could help. Slightly shocked to see my back so soon, they asked me how they could help. After explaining my mishap they couldn't help but laugh...I was laughing too so it's all good. They then quickly diagnosed all that I ruined and put a rush on repairing it. They finished the repairs exactly when they said they would for the cost they originally quoted me (they definitely cut me some slack here). I will never take my "computer" business anywhere else. The owner and employees are great plus their business model is spot on with customer service. RUSH service is totally WORTH IT! normal service is 2-3 days rush is 2-3 hours Went in for some service. I picked rush service. I went to the drive thru car wash then headed to the gym, and before I was even started working out, I got a text and a call that my computer was ready! My computer came back working perfecting and so brand spanking SPARKLING NEW looking...I don't know how they clean it but it's like getting my computer detailed for free every time I go in! Great, fast service in a convenient location. Took two MacBook Pros in to have RAM upgraded. RAM installation was done quickly while I waited. They also took the time to clean out the out the inside of the computers. One fan was completely clogged. On one the computers, Daniel let met know that the hard drive was looking pretty bad and he recommended a replacement. This was not surprising due to the fact that the MacBook was 4 years old. We discussed the upgrade and went with a 500 GB Solid State, at a pretty reasonable price. I was told it would be ready the next day. They called me a few hours later to let me know the computer was ready for pickup. Kudos to the fast service. They also have a great selection of refurbished Apple products. Second time I've used these guys, top notch crew all the way. This is the varsity squad. A couple days ago I had spilled a glass of water on my desk that moved quickly into the ports on the right side of my 2012 MacBook Pro. I run my whole business off of my computer so I understandably started freaking out. I turned the computer on the side and tried starting it up after 20 minutes, but all I got was a flashing folder with a question mark on it. I immediately shot over to DC Computers in Hillcrest. They were able to put a "rush" on the order and ultimately took the computer apart, treated some of the internal parts with some "products" that they use to remove the corrosion that can occur rather quickly. In this case I got lucky, and the fix was a lot less expensive than I anticipated. I was up and running in a couple hours. Not impressed by these dudes at all. I took my ailing MacBook Pro there (early 2011 model) that was flashing a folder with a question mark. I knew the hard drive was blown or the cable to the hdd was gone. I didn't have the tools to test it so I took it to these guys. They checked it out for a while and told me the cable was bad. The repair plus he new cable would run $130 and was told that " was pretty much the price of the cable" Yeah, right. I went on line and ended up watching a 5 minute YouTube video and buying the cable for $35 online. In 15 minutes I was done. So glad I didn't get taken out back and robbed by these guys. read more

I believe that credit and praise should be given when it is due. That is why I am taking time to write this review after visiting DC Computers this past week. Please read on... After suffering through an abusive relationship with my PC for many years, I finally decided to put my foot down. I did my homework by reading countless independent reviews of new laptops for 2010. After deciding on a Mac, I paid a visit to my local Best Buy, and then the Apple Store to compare. I took good notes, and got post sales tax totals for the laptop that I wanted. Besides the large price tag for a new Mac, I felt like both places kept trying to sell me on buying hundreds of dollars worth of additional protection for their laptops? I almost took the plunge with the Apple Store, but luckily, I found DC Computers. I was greeted and helped right away by Chris. No pressure, just a genuine effort to point me in the right direction. All of my questions were answered, and I was encouraged to try out any device that they had in their shop. First thing you notice, is that all of their equipment is in excellent, damn near perfect condition. Next, you notice the significant price difference. About $600 less than Apple. Nice. I also closely watched other customers leave satisfied after doing business with them. I was sold. I asked Chris to hold a laptop for me as I went home to grab a trade in. Yes, they take trade ins. I left a deposit, and returned to purchase my computer. I was told to come back at any time with any issues or questions that may come up. Did I mention that all of their products are loaded with current software, included in the price? Cool. I left a happy man, and bought dinner for my wife and I with part of that $600 savings. My Mac is great, and the staff at DC Computers have already stood behind their product. I went back with a question about the battery. Everything was quickly inspected, and I'm happy to report that they took care of my issue on the spot. Free of charge. Do yourself a favor and get your next computer from the knowledgeable professionals at DC Computers. You will be glad you did. P.S. Went here because of great reviews from fellow Yelpers. These guys did not disappoint! The trackpad and mouse on my macbook would not work (it's 5 years old, I know, I know...should just get a new one). Turns out it just needed a new BATTERY. So what I thought was going to cost mucho $ for a new trackpad thingamabob was only $85! And they were super nice and knowledgeable. I also asked what they recommended to make my macbook faster and they suggested more RAM and bigger hard drive (hey now!), and the price for that is VERY fair. So I will be visiting them again soon to upgrade. read more

Came into the store today after seeing some of their postings on Craigslist and checking out their website and Yelp reviews. I was in the market for my first Mac and wanted to see what they had to offer before heading over to the Apple Store. Parking is kind of insane in this lot, but I imagine that goes with the location so no big deal. We were greeted promptly and the gentlemen helping us was very honest and knowledgable. Unfortunately I was specifically looking for a Mac Mini and they didn't have many of those in stock, and the ones they did have were older and, as the associate kindly explained, wouldn't be strong enough for the Adobe work I needed it for. I appreciate that he was honest about that instead of just trying to sell it to me anyway. I left empty-handed and headed to the Apple Store, but now I know the first place I'll call/go should anything happen to my new Mac. read more

Bought a low priced black macbook from these guys for every day use. Cannot find a better deal anywhere, not for the quality. I guarantee it! All the used comps come completely clean and with totally revamped software and hardware! Amazing. Computer still runs perfect after a few years of owning it. Needed a new screen at one point, the fellas at DC Computers put a new one on there at a great price. Bought a battery about a year ago, took it home... computer didn't work. Oh no, right? Extremely happy with this company. Came in with a 2010 IMac that needed a new harddrive. Replaced it plus was able to transfer all my information from my old harddrive. They could have lied to me and I would have bought one of their refurbished Computers but they were a very "Honest " company and their prices extremely reasonable. A couple months ago, I brought back my Blackbook mentioned in my previous review, due to the fact that it was crashing on me within 5 seconds of it booting up. As soon as my desktop appeared, a warning sign would come up saying it needed to close. I went through this process a couple more times before deciding bring it in to DC. I appreciated how the paperwork was minimal to bring it in; I assume they already have all my info in their system. A day or two later, they called me and said it was ready to be picked up. Verdict? Well apparently it was crashing because it had a bad RAM stick, which they graciously replaced FOR FREE! Am I am fan? Considering the short turn-around time and complimentary replacement: Yes! Why not 5 stars? Well...as of last night, I encountered yet ANOTHER problem with my Blackbook not booting up. This time, however, my desktop never even came on - just the "blue" screen. DC Computers saved my Mac Book! My computer is under a year old and started crashing because of water damage. I tried taking it to the apple store and they wanted to charge me over $750 even with my Apple Care warranty! They said I was going to loose all my files and it would take a couple weeks to get everything fixed. I went to DC Computers and they were able to get my computer back up and running in only two days and it cost me a fraction of the price! DC Computers is a refreshing example that customer service is not dead. These guys are so rad, I couldn't imagine buying or servicing a laptop or computer anywhere else. They take time with each customer and are forever gracious in making small repairs for customers. I bought a Dell laptop almost 2 years ago, and recently the fan stopped working and it was getting super hot after running for a while. They fixed it, and threw in a brand new keyboard pad since the "k" wasn't working for an incredibly fair price. They'll never talk down to a customer or pressure anybody to buy something they don't need. Service with a smile. Occasionally they will offer a choice of 1. DC Computers should be ashamed. I had a hard drive that started showing signs of failing. I've been busy and so I called for an estimate to have it replaced and the data transferred. I was quoted $400 for a 500GB drive and the data transfer. This was for older Sata drive format and not a newer SSD drive. I ended up just doing it myself. The drive was $49 and the data transfer took an hour. $400 is simply highway robbery. read more

I was referred to DC Computers by a happy customer and I'd have to agree that this is a stellar small business. Although their website focuses on Apple Computers, they did a great job fixing the mess made by a virus on my Sony Vaio. They also found a problem with the fan and fixed that as well. They are very straightforward and reasonable about price. My only hesitation for giving them 5 stars is that they need to work on the phone skills and customer service. There was a delay in getting parts for my Vaio and I had to call them a number of times for updates. Since it is a small business, the guys working on your computer are the ones answering the phones and it was clear they were not entirely comfortable answerig my questions. Also it would hae been nice to have them call me and let me know about the delay. Overall, however, I am really pleased with the service I recieved at DC Computer Warehouse and would, of course, recommend them to anyone who needed computer help. I have to start by telling you that I rarely take the time to write reviews on anybody, but this time I have to. On Dec 7, 2011, I bought a Mac Book Pro from Daniel. I feel that I got a super good deal on it, the unit is extremely clean and was well taken care of. Off and on over the past two years plus, I've seen these two kids work their business, I first met them when they were at the Banker's Hill location. I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. They're both friendly, helpful and accommodating and most important of all they ethical and stand by their word. If there's anything wrong with your computer they'll try to help you out. In my book this is the proper way to run a business. I have no doubt that if they continue with their current service and policies they'll be very prosperous and successful in the future. So if you want a Mac computer and don't want to pay the current prices for a new one, take a ride out to this store and check it out. My last experience with getting maintenance done on my macbook has been less than par (to say the least) so I was a little hesitant to go to another place besides Apple itself. Was told the dc port was fine. Technicial charged me 139.00 to remove the battery, told me the motherboard was damaged and I should just buy a new computer from him. Very happy with DC Computers! My HP screen had a weird line running through it and also was running a little slow. They installed a nice matte screen instead of the glossy one that it had come with, as well as finding and getting rid of some spyware. My computer looks great and is running much faster! One tip would be to get it to them early in the week if you want it back super quick - I dropped it off Friday evening so their policy of 3 business weekdays put it to being finished Wednesday because of the weekend. Thank you AGAIN DC Computers! I just took in my second computer for repair and tune up and it came back better than new for a great price. Who else provides such a great service? No one else! Daniel is extremely knowledgeable about computers and patiently answered my questions and helped me decide whether to stay with my computer or buy another one. Great computer! Great price! Great service! I bought a Dell about 2 weeks ago from Daniel and Chris for $350. I bought it for home use, but just couldn't get into a PC after using a Mac at work. I called them and said that I wanted to trade it in for a Macbook. There was nothing wrong with the Dell, and they still said "No Problem". I paid the difference and was on my way in 5 minutes. While I was there they gave me good advice on transferring files and how to use imovie. These guys offer great computers for good prices, and lots of advice when I needed it. They did a repair job for me that others said would either: A) not be possible or B) possible but cost thousands of dollars. DC computers did a repair for me that was done at.... wait, let me get my calculator... 28% the cost of other estimates. For real. They should be your first consideration for computer service. These guys (and I forgot his name), ordered the part in advance, and totally replaced my lcd in one hour! For a professional designer like myself, not having any downtime is priceless!
