This place is awesome. I've been twice since it opened and it has been great both times. You walk in, fill out a card with your name and the pizza toppings you want, and hand it over the counter. You then walk around the store following the employees as they make your pizza with fresh ingredients right in front of you, place it on a conveyor belt oven, and watch as it is slid into a box, sliced, and handed to you as you're checking out. I've gone with the standard cheese pizza both times I've been. It's very reasonably priced, maybe a little big for a single-serving lunch, but c'mon, it's pizza, and you can always save the leftovers for later. Fast, friendly service. Great pizza. Its a good pizza for lunch - its cheap, tasty and the line does move pretty quickly. The 3 min to a pizza is impressive. Some limited seating inside, but this is more of a takeaway place. The "naturally sweet sauce" is a bit too sweet for me, I would say go for the classic. They were quite generous with the toppings. I think they read the review on not enough cheese and did a 180. I work in the area around DC Pizza & literally everyday my coworkers & I complain about the lack of decent priced places that will actually fill you up for lunch. Yesterday in my lunch search I saw numerous ppl walking down L St with DC Pizza boxes so I decided to check this place out. Initially the lunch rush line out the door detered me but the process was so quick & streamlined that I was on my way back to the office in less than 15mins. I decided to get the 4 topping option, with the 3 mixed cheeses. My toppings were spinach, italian sausage, & pepperoni, with gorgonzola & oregano oil for my finishes. I must say it was DELICIOUS. And for $9 it was enough to make 2 meals honestly, I was full after only eating half. Ive def found my new quick lunch spot & Ill surely be returning. read more

Totally dig it. The layout is similar to & Pizza, but more efficient. The time they take to assemble the pizza is a little less, the price is a little less and it was way tastier! I've been to DC Pizza twice and I've liked what I've gotten so far. The first time, I got cheese pizza and the second time, I got a pepperoni. Both pizzas were good--I got the spicy Italian and finished with fresh basil and parmesan cheese. The first time, I went inside and filled out the pizza form and handed it to the person preparing the pizzas. The second time, I used their online option, which I really like. It didn't force me to create a login--like I need another login, and I was able to pay when I got there. I ordered it at 5:00 p.m. so there was only one other patron when I went to pick it up. I was greeted warmly. My pizza was nice and hot when I went to pick it up. There isn't a whole lot of space to eat inside but they have outdoor seating for the warmer months. I prefer the crust at DC Pizza to that of &Pizza--I know that &Pizza has unlimited toppings but I keep it real simple with toppings anyway, so there you go. read more

Great place for personal-size pizzas if you don't mind the assembly-line format where the puzza crusts are pulled from a plastic bag of about 25 crusts after being manufactured who-knows-where. They really should put that out of the customer's sight as it was the only negative about the place I could think of. But a big one that costed a star along with the cashier not knowing how to ring up my free cookie fir having checked in on Yelp. Minor annoyances on big picture as the pizza is what i came for and I was not disappointed. I love a thin and crunchy (not crispy) crust with good chew, that was not soggy, and that us exactly what I got. The crunchy crust held up well even after being carried a few blocks back to my hotel. I had to practically fight off the other guests in the elevator as the amora from my pizza filled the car with delight (mine, not theirs). Having spent much time devouring pizzas in New York, seeing the crust from the bag really set me back. If that doesn't bother you, then please consider this a five star review for taste, freshness, and friendliness of the staff. Although I am a visitor to DC, everyone else in the store and on line was a regular and acknowledged by the staff as such. That says a lot about a place. read more

Something about a hot pizza against the backdrop of a cold day really makes the winter worth enduring. I was surprised to find that this pizza place is exactly the same as &pizza but cheaper! Went here for lunch on a hot, end-of-summer Friday. I had a pretty standard pizza - classic tomato, house blend of cheese, pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, basil. It was really tasty, and the crust was crispy and perfect. A coworker who came along got fresh mozz, though, and it was so watery that it soaked thru her pizza crust. It's a little bit of a weird set up, you mark off what you want on a little sheet and then they make it for you. The line can get a little jumbled, so if you're there with a group be prepared to kind of get split up, etc. It's fast - you spend awhile waiting in line (for me it was about 6-7 mins) but then once you hand your sheet over, it really does only take about 3 minutes for them to make your pizza. Some of the pizza-makers were neater/cleaner than others, for sure. Sure, it's not the greatest pizza I've ever had but it exceeded my expectations in terms of freshness/taste. It's also way bigger than I would have expected! Definitely enough to give me a VERY substantive lunch, and cheap! My pizza with an extra add on (basil) and a fountain drink only set me back about $10. Recommend giving it a try for something quick and different in a sea of chain restaurants + endless salad places on 19th/L street, etc. Quick note: There's really only a few seats to be had in the place, so plan to take it and go. read more

I think if I was just thinking about food I would give this place four stars. The crust is good, the sauce and cheese is fresh, but the rule that you can only add four is a little annoying when you know &pizza let's you have as many as you want for the same price. Also, I came here last week around 8PM, and the service was kind of rude and slow- I asked her how everything worked and she just shrugged and threw the piece of paper for ordering at me. Then, it took around 10 minutes for our pizzas. Even though there are dozens of signs that say you get your pizza in 3 minutes. Really great quality personal-sized pizzas, really great staff! I often visit DC Pizza for a late lunch as it's less busy around 2pm. I have gotten there earlier a few times and had to wait in a short, but moving line. There's a small outdoor area to eat if you so choose; for me it's a little noisy. I never wait longer than 5-6 min to receive my order after it's been placed and whoever is at the register is always smiling. Very refreshing. I really like coming here. I didn't start going until my coworker suggested it now it has become a thing I do almost every Friday. I really like this place because the staff is super friendly and I get my pizza super quick. A little less quick when it is busy but that is to be expected. It can be confusing the first time but I got the hang of it no problem. I usually get the House Blend, Tomato Sauce, Jalapenos, Garlic, Mushroom, and pepperoni pizza. It is really good and I like the flavor I get from that. I really like that I get a lot of control over what is put on the pizza and while they have pizzas you can choose from I never feel like those are being pushed on me or anything which I appreciate. This is one of the few places I go to where I feel like the staff is actually happy to have me there even if I always get it to go. The pizza is really good too. It stays warm for the time I get to the office and after you get it they have plenty of red pepper/parmesan/ or whatever you put on it as a condiment kind of thing. Best pizza in the area! I work nearby and go there twice a week! It's fill of repeat customers. Better than any of the other places where you can make your own pizza. Ingredients are good. Crust is delicious. The service is always kind and caring, unlike other places where employees look like they don't want to be there. It's family-owned and the love that the owners put into it shows. DC Pizza falsely advertises. They put out flyers last week stating "first 20 people in line at 11am get free pizza for a year"... A co-worker was in line at 10:30. At 11 am a worker came out and said that the 20 people lined up at 6:30 am and because it was cold he gave them the 20 people free for a year. There was no line at 630 this morning.
