The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of Parisian cool and casual, making it an excellent spot for a mid-morning, work-ish get-together. I stopped in around 11:00 AM. Since I was already over-caffeinated for the day, I skipped the coffee and opted for the Martha Stewart spritzer with mint. It was exceptionally lovely and refreshing. For a midday breakfast, I ordered the omelette with spinach, roasted red peppers, and feta cheese, which came with a delicious green side salad. The execution on the food was excellent, and while I didn't grab any pastries this time, the entire display looked incredible. The staff were incredibly kind and gracious, upon learning, it was our first time there give us a humongous cookie! The only downside is the standard neighborhood reality: Georgetown parking is a notorious pain, but you know that going in. I've loved Maman ever since I visited a NY location in 2022. Glad to see they've kept up the same vibe, aesthetic, and great menu. Everything tasted fresh and I genuinely love coming here. I don't think the company itself is French but it's definitely heavily 'inspired by'...from the food/drinks, to the decor, to even the service. He finally agreed to swapping it after my husband asked "aren't you as a manager supposed to take feedback from the customer?" This place is always packed and there's never anywhere to sit anyways. This is going to be my proper review of maman. At this point I have been to this place about 10+ times. Let me start by saying that I love the interior. This pretty much is how I want my kitchen to look. The staff is wonderful. The service they provide is top notch. The baked goods are amazing! I have tried the banana walnut bread, Nutella brownie, Martha Stewart Kitchen Sink cookie and Martha Stewart Lemon Creme Brûlée Bun. All of these items are amazing especially the Lemon Creme Brulee Bun. That is epic like a 9 minutes song. The sandwich however was just okay. Nothing special. A bit over priced but then again this is your premium coffee shop so I cannot complain... or maybe I can? The coffee is a labor of love! Whoever the barista is deserves a lot of praise for the fabulous job they do. This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I ordered the avocado sandwich and added extra salmon on top, and everything was absolutely delicious and very fresh! I also tried the London Fog tea for the first time, and I liked it as well. With Inkind taking it from pricey to a solid deal and such creative coffees like blueberry muffin or the pumpkin spice matcha latte were always pulled back with intrigue. They have a pretty good smoked salmon crogel croissant/bagel thingamajig as well as a steak sandwich that will not fail. All of their pastries appear to be on another level in regards to creativity and deliciousness, and the few that we have tried have been solid options. I feel like this is a classic cafe to check out in NYC or DC, and I cannot speak for the food much, but the americano was mediocre at best. Sometimes americanos can have that sort of sour aftertaste of stale coffee and this definitely did. My friend tried the matcha which she said was pretty good. We also grabbed a jalapeno cheddar scone and a cherry blossom croissant cube. I didn't try the latter, but my friends really liked it. The scone was ok, surprisingly sweet. That being said, I feel like Maman has made a brand off of its ambiance and I can certainly attest to it. Today's visit was very disappointing. It all started with the assignment of our table. When we initially arrived, we did not mind waiting. Per usual, Sunday afternoons are very popular. They offered the patio and we opted to wait a little longer to get a table in the AC. After 20 minutes of waiting, we were finally called. There were 2 tables near the door that had cleared out and those would have fit well. However, they decided to bring us to the back of the restaurant where they shoved 2 people in the middle of 2 super loud groups where we barely could talk and kept having to lean and yell. Then the waiter. He kept socializing with the group on the outside and did not even check on us after he took our orders. We were missing silverware, waters, etc. but he kept chitchatting to others like we were invisible. Then the food. It took 25 minutes after ordering to come. All in all between arriving at the restaurant to getting our food it was over an hour. Not as pleasant of an experience as we've liked. Maman is such a cute location that highlights menu items from the south of france and north america. I tried the make your own omelet and it was delicious with spinach! Also I had a very tasty Blueberry and cheese scone! To wrap it all up we tried both the Cafe et Noisette and Pajama Party which are seasonal cocktails for the winter. The everything croissant is a fun switch up from the traditional bagel and the lemon whipped cream was a tasty addition. Stopped by maman at George Town this morning and had a really nice experience. I ordered a vanilla latte, which was excellent -- just the right amount of sweetness without being overpowering. I also tried the smoked salmon sandwich with a fried egg on a croissant. The flavors were great and the croissant was fresh and buttery, though the egg was unfortunately overcooked. This was my first time at Maman and it was lovely! The staff are friendly and welcoming, they communicated well and patiently as we figured out seating for my party of 2 on a bunch Sunday lunch time. My friend and I were seated in the patio space, which was calm and relaxing. The cortado was SHARP and delicious, an excellent sign of a quality coffee. I ordered the eggplant ratatouille and it was yummy. I also ordered a size of potatoes. The side was more than I needed in size, so I shared it with my friend. The one downside is that there was a long line for the bathroom. Do note that parking is LIMITED, so prepare to do street parking or pay at a nearby parking garage. If you're in Georgetown and need some caffeine I recommend maman, it kinda has it all. First of all the cafe is so aesthetic and stretches on for days. It has three separate areas to sit in. The furthest area is more isolated with tables for studying in peace. The staff were great and I could tell the barista took the drink making very seriously. You order in front and walk to the back to pick up your order which is nice for crowd reduction. The drinks came out quick and tasted great!
