I think this is going to be my last run to Pinky's--for 3 reasons:…read more 1. Inconsistent hours. It might show as open, but they're closed--so call before you drive over. Today it actually showed closed, but they were open. I happened to drive by and decided to grab a bite. 2. Pricing feels inconsistent. Today I was charged $13.25 for a carne asada burrito after she asked if I was paying cash. I'm guessing it costs more if you don't pay cash. For reference, the menu on the cart lists it at $12. 3. Questionable quality. There's nothing wrong with a $15 or even $20 taco truck burrito if the quality and portion stay solid. But the flavor tasted heavily loaded with MSG, and the asada was chopped into tiny pieces, which felt like it was meant to hide meat that was dry or chewy. At best, this is a $8 burrito--and I do have an issue paying $13.25 for something that tastes and portions like a $8 burrito. Disappointing overall. I'll be branching out and trying other taco trucks in the area.

Pretty solid taco truck. I've tried the carne asada, al pastor, and chicken tacos; I think they're…read moreall good choices but I especially like the al pastor because of the flavor. The meat is juicy and very flavorful, and they load it with onions/cilantro. Besides the tacos, I tend to get the carne asada fries which are full of meat and cheese. The mulita was also yummy! I recently tried the tacos with beans and rice, and the rice was good but the beans were slightly undercooked... I was also expecting refried beans, so was a bit disappointed by what came out. The first time I came here, my partner and I waited for over 20 minutes for our food. They let us know after that they're typically busy with online orders, and that it's a good idea to call ahead to reduce the wait time. We didn't like waiting for the food mainly because the area the truck is at is slightly sketchy at night. It felt unsafe to leave our car unattended while we wait for the food, so definitely call ahead to order!

Kevin B. recently wrote a review for the Long Beach area's "Meals on Wheels" program, in the review…read morehe described how helpful the service is for his father. I did a little checking on the program in my area and learned more about the vital support this organization provides. Kevin mentioned a food truck fundraiser for the group; I thought it sounded pretty cool - next thing you know I received an invite to his PYE! Food trucks, getting together with some great Yelpers, and helping a good cause - that's a five star combination - we were in for sure! Five trucks in were in attendance, a priority for my wife was having a healthy meal. In addition I had been a fan of Sam Choy during Chopped "Grill Masters" competition. Therefore, we gravitated toward his Pineapple Express truck. I was disappointed many of their menu items were unavailable. We ordered several items - some hits, some misses. There were tables set up with outside and inside seating available. A solo live musician entertained the inside seating area (some hits and some misses with him too!), volunteers greeted us and offered comment cards for feedback on the event. This was Kevin's First PYE! A fun group of Yelpers that included Rodney S, Laina and Rohlin A, Ruth T, Dave G with his family, and a few others were fortunate enough to join Kevin and his father. I noticed several of the volunteers came by to say hello to Kevin's dad, I could tell the volunteers truly cared about him, and valued him as a client of their service. It was nice to see. 10% of the proceeds from the trucks went to Meals on Wheels, plus we were able to donate directly to a collection container at our table. In addition to putting together a fun group, Kevin arranged for two indoor tables to be reserved for our group - felt like VIP's! Worked out very well - guaranteed seating, and a home base to come back to when going to try another truck. Kevin was a great host, joining each table for a while and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Kevin appointed Rodney as his official photographer for the our get together. Thanks for the invitation and Congrats to KB on a successful PYE!
