The interior is super…read morebright and welcoming, and most of the staff are ajummas, which honestly gives it that comforting, homey Korean diner vibe. You can tell this place has a strong base of regulars too, I saw a mix of friend groups and families casually walking in like it's their go-to spot. We ordered the cold noodles combo with jokbal (pork hock) for $30.95. Portion wise, it's SOLID for two people. The cold noodles were refreshing and really hit the spot, especially if you like that clean, slightly tangy flavor. The jokbal was very decent. Not bad, but if you've had it in Korea, you'll notice it doesn't quite hit the same level still totally "usable," just not standout. Value, this is where they win. We got full off just one combo, which is rare these days. Plus, all the usual Korean side dishes are complimentary, and they also served a warm bone broth at no extra cost. I've honestly never had that offered like this before, and it made the whole meal feel extra comforting and homey. Small detail, but I also appreciated that the table was already fully set up with bowls, utensils, and water which makes everything efficient. Overall, really solid experience. It actually gave me a bit of that Seoul nostalgia, which is hard to replicate. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.

(Pretty sure it's just the owner) who was very friendly, but the other staff had a huge attitude, the girl who dropped off our side dishes dug her hands into the dishes to grab two at a time which was super unsanitary. She threw the last side dish on our table while she was walking away too. I wanted to be optimistic about the food even though the staff gave a terrible first impression. We ordered two soups. They were both super bland. My partner and I kept debating whether or not to ask for more salt because of the lack of seasoning in both of our meals. Even the side dishes were lacking flavor and looked like they were sitting out for a long time. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the kind lady (probably owner) of the restaurant. Everything else was a huge let down. I wanted to like the food here because there's a lot of good Korean restaurants in Irvine, and this could've been one of them but sadly it's not worth coming back.

The service is awesome. They are very quick to ask if you want anything or need a grill change. They work like a team here so anyone who stops by can help you. The vibe is young professionals but in a casual and easy drinking crowd. The noise level is medium but everyone sounds happy here. This is my fourth visit to this location. I have eaten here twice solo and twice with two or three friends. We can usually get a table within 20 minutes even when it's full. I highly recommend and will be back.

TLDR: impossible to beat balance of price, service, and quality…read more Favorite meats: beef belly (spicy is really good too!), rib finger, beef tongue, wang cho steak Food: 4.7 Ambience: 5 (no extreme loud music!, great venting, spacious booths) Service: 5 Price: 5 (for the King tier) Favorite menu: King Kimchi: AMAZING Bonchon includes: fish cake, salad, kimchi, pickle, potato starch noodles My man loves the tofu soup but it has pork so I cannot eat it. Never any issues with gluten free for the unmarinated meats and for the spicy beef belly. I also have not had any reaction to the la galbi beef but can't officially recommend that to my fellow celiacs as i'm not sure what's in it. Take it with a grain of salt that I had no reaction, you could be different and stick to unmarinated. I've been to Korean bbq ALL OVER SoCal and especially in Orange county (so much so it's a struggle to find a new place on the rare occasion I want to) I literally just come here whenever I want kbbq and have been coming here for YEARS. So many places lack my favorite meats (especially beef tongue) and I feel like I. Have to compromise something to go anywhere else. Not at wang cho! King menu for two people with drinks before tip is $96 it's just stellar balanced price. Tips for a great service: ask for with everything to want at the beginning work your first order (sesame oil has to be requested, rice paper and radish paper available on request, straw for your drink on request) and don't forget to order your rice at the beginning and look at the extras like steamed egg and tofu soup) Each time they come around when you finish the meat order any ups you need on the bonchon. Don't be afraid to ask them to turn down your stove if it's too hot. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. I'm a patron for life. Shoutout to the manager Andrew for running a tight ship you rock!! I always forget to take pics but will do so and update this review.

Sitting around the table grilling, eating, and hanging out made it feel way more special than a regular dinner. Service was fast and attentive too. If I could give negative stars I would. Everything was pretty terrible…read more We had a really large party for a birthday and we had a long wait though we had scheduled a reservation ahead. When you go in, we had a basically private room for the party, which is pretty cool! But when you go in, it's freezing cold. It's like the AC was blasting so hard I was in a freezer. My toes literally felt frozen. It was so uncomfortable.!!! Then the amount of people walking around inside to help was decent, but the time in between getting meat was a little longer than I expected. But the meats were terrible. There was like no quality no taste and some more like Chewy or like even really tough. The kicker was that though there were four separate tables, they charged us all the same price. I understand that if everyone at your table needs to get the same menu. But they really should've told us that it's the whole room and not just by table and if it was the whole room, then they should've also let us know that one table got the premium so we might as well get premium at we're getting charged for it anyways. So not only was the food bad, the service was ok best. But not informing customers was just a kicker. I wouldn't wanna come back. I'm not sure. I'd even try another Gen's again. Their quality has gone significantly downhill. I feel like they're just running on their reputation that was there before. Don't think I'd recommend this place.

I especially like their extra mild Yup O (more fishcake than rice cake) with chinese noodle and veggie fries! The noodles have a nice bouncy texture and absorbs the sauce well. The veggie fries pair well with the spice and have a nice crunch and fried batter flavor. I also crave the Chicken Stew, but can only eat a little at a time due to how spicy it is... Their lowest spice for this dish is mild, however it is extremely spicy! It comes with a lot of boned-in chicken pieces that are tender and rich in flavor. They also have many options that aid in cutting the spice. My personal go-to is the Tuna Mayo Rice, which comes with radish and seaweed. The combo of the bowl is so good, and it comes in a pretty large portion so it could be a meal within itself. The service at Yupdduck is really good. The servers checked up on my table intermittently for water and radish refills. In the end, they gave out Yakult for a little treat! I highly recommend trying Yupdduck and testing your spice tolerance!!
