I want to specify that this review is for the mobile food truck. We were attendees at Fairmont school Trunk or Treat event, where Mad Dumplings were serving food. I believe the truck was understaffed with only two employees. They attempted to prepare for this by having people order on an iPad and just have the employees prepare and package the foods. After ordering on the iPad, you get a text message giving you a wait time and then another text message when your order is ready. We were initially given a wait time of about 15 minutes for our asian street corn, one order of vegan dumplings, and a scallion pancake, and one lychee lemonade drink. We stood by the truck which was good because we never got a text message that they order was ready. The truck ran out of bags so some patrons with larger orders had to stack their boxes and walk away with them trying not to drop anything. The food was amazing, but it took about 45 minutes to get it. Other patrons were also complaining about the wait and eventually they actually stopped taking orders because I think they were really overwhelmed. All in all, I would go sit down and eat at this restaurant, but I would likely avoid it if it was a food truck again because I think they need to work on their food truck logistics and staffing. read more

I tried out Mad Dumplings at a pop-up event amongst other food trucks, and ordered two combos. I opted for the regular "vintage" dumplings and fried chicken dumplings, along with the pork belly and bulgogi rice bowls. Definitely go for the combos, as they give a better bang for buck. The rice bowls were a decent choice, with the standout being the creamy (mayonnaise based?) sauce on top. The first dumplings I tried were the vintage dumplings, which were so-so but nothing to write home about. But the last (and the best by a long shot) were the fried chicken dumplings!! They came out super hot and crispy, with a creamy dipping sauce and wildly exceeded my expectations - At this point, I wish I had just ordered fried chicken dumplings 4x lol. I'm not sure If they changed the recipe of the longanisa because the filling was more of a tannish color and not the bright red like it should be. the food truck was there. Not sure if it's because it was a food truck or what but the food wasn't good at all. The turkey dumplings was gummy and bland. The " soy sauce " he gave me for dipping just taste like oil. The meat inside had no Flavor at all. One side was very crispy but the other side was gummy and not dumpling gummy like under cooked gummy. The bulgogi bowl wasn't much better. They put a spicy mayo on top which completely ruined the bowl. It doesn't taste good with the mayo on it. The meat itself was over cooked and under seasoned. Some parts of the meat was so over cooked it was crispy. The rice was probably the best tasting thing. It had a nice little flavor to it, but the rest was a big no no. Overall- really impressive. From food to menu to service. Ordering- ordered at kiosk outside the food truck. It was okay, but I'm old school and enjoy the person to person ordering process. Service- picking up was a little harder than the guac n roll since we have to wait at the window. So this could be improved perhaps with a buzzer. HOWEVER, the nice girl gave us a free bulgogi over rice because of some confusion so we walked away SUPER HAPPY! :D Food: 3.5/5 Fried Chicken dumplings- it's super awesome, crunchy outside, juicy chicken inside. I went to Brewery X this past weekend and the wait was 1.5 hours to get seated. I was ready to just call it a night and go home cause it was freezing and I did not want to wait 1.5 hours. The saving grace? My friend saw Mad Dumplings was there and has been dying to try it...so we waited. As soon as we got seated at our table, we ran over to Mad Dumplings. It was 9:00 p.m. and they were scheduled to be there until 11:30 p.m. that night. We were one of the last parties to get served, because they ran out of food. I suppose that is a good sign? We ordered the Combo Deal - select any 2 menu items (can select the same item twice) for $12. We got the Longanisa dumplings and the fried chicken dumplings. The Longanisa dumpling was filled with pork sausage and it came with a hot sauce. It was delicious! The fried chicken dumpling included pepperjack cheese and was a tasty American twist to dumplings. We also got the bulgogi rice bowl for $11, which was reasonable given the portion size. I would definitely eat at Mad Dumplings again. Would I wait another 1.5 hours next time? On this particular trip to Disneyland, my friend had scouted out Mad Dumplings as a place she wanted to try after seeing some amazing Instagram posts! Since it was a food truck parked at Downtown Disney, had to try it before the truck moved somewhere else. I ordered the Longanisa dumplings and bulgogi waffle fries, which my friends ordered The Mac dumplings and their own bulgogi waffle fries. It's been a LONG time since I've had longanisa and I wasn't really sure what to expect with it fused as a dumpling...but it simply WORKS. I can see why this is the most popular dumpling and an award winner! They do not skimp on the food at all, and that goes for both the dumplings and fries. I was pretty satisfied with my food here. It also helps that the food is significantly cheaper than anything I could've found at the theme parks or Downtown Disney. Service here was great! Food came out quickly after we ordered. No complains on my end. Another nice thing about their location at Downtown Disney...it's right next to the monorail which takes you right to Tomorrowland. So you don't even have to walk that far to get here if you're already at Disneyland! Kinda wish Mad Dumplings were always here since the food at Disneyland is generally overpriced and unfulfilling. One of my favorite food trucks in Orange County! They have had quite a stint at Downtown Disney, but recently I found them at Brewery X. This is the perfect food to pair with some delicious beers. They are known for their dumplings, so you have to try these when you come here! They have 4 different kinds, Longanisa, Fried Chicken, Turkey and Mac & Cheese, My favorite is the Longanisa and Turkey dumplings. They also have loaded waffle fries and delicious rice combo bowls. Their combo bowls are definitely the way to go if you want value, they come with the bowl and dumplings of your choice (4pcs). I can't decide if I like the bulgogi or pork belly bowl more, so I usually get one of each. Everything is super affordable and filling so it's a great stop for some delicious food. We were really disappointed in our experience with Mad Dumplings at the farmers market in Irvine. Our very basic order of Longanisa dumplings with tater tots took over 30 minutes to prepare. What was frustrating about the situation was that all numbers were called out of order and made it difficult to estimate our wait time. Once we got the food, it was mediocre at best with too little sauce for the portion size (at least for the tots) On top of everything, we encountered a short black hair on the last dumpling... we had already eaten most of the them before discovering this. I was so excited to try this food truck. I was disappointed in the customer service. I asked for recommendations and about the sauces. The employee who helped me was less than enthusiastic to answer my questions. When I was waiting for my number, I asked the same employee if my number had been called since I did not hear them calling out numbers and other people waiting for their food didn't hear numbers being called either, the employee answered they would let us know when our food was done (in an annoyed tone).
