The justification was "toilet parts are old" even though the toilet itself is in great condition. After pushing back they proposed a second option for nearly $500 - this is to spend 30 minutes replacing the valve and flapper with a parts cost of $25 max from Home Depot. The work ended up being completed by a handyman for much less. Needless to say Exodus is never welcome on one of my properties again. I've used Exodus Plumbing on three separate occasions for repairs. Each time they have done an excellent job for a reasonable price. It was easy to schedule an appointment. Communication was great! They texted me an appointment confirmation and then sent me a text alerting me when the plumber was on their way including the technician's name, photo and current location so I knew when to expect their arrival. Emilio installed a kitchen faucet and replaced a water pressure regulator. Then Mauricio cleared a clogged toilet/shower drain by snaking the main line using a camera and replaced the wax ring under the toilet. Lastly, Gilbert cleared a clogged kitchen sink and installed a new garbage disposal. All the people from Exodus Plumbing that I have dealt with have been competent, courteous and efficient. Juan and Edgar came out to replace my garbage disposal but their diagnosis found a blocked pipe. While Juan fixed the blockage Edgar asked if I had any other issues. I explained I had a dripping shower and running toilet and double water bill. He checked my water meter, it was ok, then he checked the water pressure and found it was too high. They are coming back to replace my valve, shower leak and toilet issue caused by the high pressure. My water bill should go down too! They were so friendly and cleaned up everything perfect. Provided all the details regarding the situation such as it's in an apartment, which side of the drain is clogged, etc. They quoted a price and then sent a technician. I then get a call that the price would be double the amount they quoted me AND could potentially be 3 times as much. The dispatcher told me it's more because it's in the kitchen and there's no clean out access. Um, I provided you with all this information before you quoted the price and sent a technician. Water leaked from our condo to the unit below. Emilio from Exodus came out and determined that the toilet had not been installed to code and caused the leak. Whoever originally installed the toilet took a shortcut - the flange on which the toilet rested was too short. Instead of fixing the flange, the original installer stacked 2 wax rings, one on top of the other. Emilio found the problem and fixed it the right way. After that experience, I called Exodus about a slow sewer. This time, Mauricio came out. He impressed me with his knowledge and professional demeanor. Exodus is also great at communicating.
