Came back to dine in a couple of times recently since the pandemic with the kiddos and they loved it. Glad to see that the restaurant is doing well and doubled in size! Service was fantastic as always. Kids loved the endless tortilla chips and even my 5 year old was enjoying the slightly spicy salsa. Kids' quesadilla was a hit and of course my oldest ordered the fried whole tilapia. My 5 year old said he loves Mexican food. Still the best in Brea. read more

Walked in and was pleasantly surprised with the cool decor. I told myself , self -order something healthy . So I ordered fajitas , whole beans and salad . Got takeout from De Oro La Puerta and loved it! I was a little skeptical as Brea doesn't have the best Mexican food spots but this hit the spot! Here is a breakdown of the dishes we got. Tacos: we got carne asada and Al pastor. Both were very delicious. They are topped with cilantro, onion, and red salsa. They also come with a handmade tortilla which was very nice! Chicken Taquitos: the taquitos were my favorite part of the dinner! The taquitos are rolled with their handmade tortillas and were filled with flavorful chicken. Chips, rice, beans: these were solid accompaniments to the meal. We loved the fresh chips! Overall, highly recommend this spot if you're in the brea area. My choice for Mexican food when I'm anywhere near the Brea Mall. There is huge array of solid Mexican food choices. I've enjoyed their Pozole, burritos and tortas. On the weekends they are short staffed at breakfast till the afternoon. read more

First time ordering from here. Machaca and eggs and the beans were great! And the homemade tortillas did not disappoint. Next time I'll ask for way more salsa and no potatoes! The woman who took my order was so nice and when I went in to pick up the order I was blown away by how beautiful and festive it was on the inside! I will be coming back for sure! read more

We were there mid day, so the place was all ours. I had chili verde and it was very good. Home made flour tortillas were great too. Wife had carnitas. Also very good. Rice and beans good. LOVE the chips here - warm and super thin. Salsa is pretty tame but has a good seasoning base. Grandson got the three carnitas taco plate and loved the carnitas which are always a good barometer for mexican food. I got the Posole and it was outstanding. Will definitely be back here again read more

I wanted to come back to update my review. We finally made it in to redeem the credit Diana offered us. Everything was top-notch. From greeting us with an apology, to bringing us complimentary chips and guacamole, we felt welcome back and taken care of. We even ordered our Christmas tamales that same day, and they were delicious as usual. It is refreshing to see restaurants own their mistakes and make them right. There's no way this should be 35 bucks , the enchilada combo plate that is supposed to be their special was advertised for 9.99 only reason why I ordered it was to save , the taquitos were supposed to be carnitas and the roll em up ones not these , lots of lettuce, just not a great value for what I paid . Stopped in for lunch with a friend while visiting California. Friend recommended this place as it was their regular spot. I had hard time deciding on what I should get, but ultimately went with their pastor dish and corn tortillas (recommend). They served chips and salsa, the chips were thin - the way I like them and their salsa was awesome! Honestly, I could do shots of the salsa all day long! While the rice and beans on the pastor dish was just ok, the pastor was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The meat was juicy and moist, with the corn tortillas, it was a great combo! I would definitely recommend the pastor plate. The service was decent, once it got busy, it slowed down a bit unfortunately. Definitely will revisit as I saw some dishes that I wanted to try. read more

Ordered the Chicken Mole. The mole sauce was amazing. Every restaurant has a different take on the sauce but Oro La Puerta hit it on the head for me. Chicken wasn't dry either which is huge. Server/host/bartender was super friendly and respectful. The ambiance of the restaurant is great too. Super clean dining room. Which is a hard standard for restaurants in general. The inside of the restaurant is a lot hotter than most, and is honestly my only gripe. Maybe it was just the spice of the mole lol. But all in all, I give them a well deserving 5 stars. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only a couple of other occupied tables during our visit. While the menu offered a variety of options, it looked limited and, more importantly, significantly overpriced. Signature rolls ranged from $24 to $26, and even a simple pork-and-rice dish was priced at $25. We ordered the Chicken Tequila Cream Pasta, the Dragon Roll, and two fish tacos. Unfortunately, this is where the experience took a disappointing turn. The Dragon Roll, despite its premium price, looked very basic, consisting mostly of rice with very little filling. The quality and presentation reminded me of sushi from a grocery store counter. The Chicken Tequila Cream Pasta was essentially chicken Alfredo with red bell peppers, served with a slice of basic buttered toast. The fish tacos were another letdown. For $16, the plate included only two small tacos with no rice, beans, or side dishes, just the tacos themselves. To make the experience even more unpleasant, there were no complimentary appetizers, such as bread or edamame, to enjoy while waiting for the meal. The food overall was underwhelming and did not justify the prices being charged. The one bright spot was the service, which was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, Geisha failed to deliver the quality or value its prices suggest. Save yourself the time and money and visit virtually any other restaurant in downtown Brea instead. You'll thank me later.

La Puerta Restaurant is definitely a gem in the Mexican/Latin cuisine, food is very tasty, ample portions served with great and warm service. The facility is very clean including the restroom! As my wife and I have tried different dishes from their Caldo de Res, Camarones a la Diabla, Carne Asada with a side order of Chile Relleno and not to forget the tacos with homemade tortillas are few of the many we have tried so far and ALL has been consistently good and at the right price. The dining room was kind of small and I could see it when it gets busy maybe the space becoming rather claustrophobic. My time there was pretty serene though so I felt kind of relaxed. I did see some outdoor tables for those who are inclined to take their meals among the sun and the air (and the heat and the bugs). I really like this restaurant. And maybe if and when they get some fountain service there I could see making it a regular stop. But I know myself and running out of drinks halfway through the meal and debating buying another bottle is a whole other headache I don't like to deal with when eating.

The burrito actually consisted of, 95%, cooked rice and pico de gallo which is chopped onion, tomato and cilantro and only a memory of beef, or carne asada. This burrito was realistically worth about $3.00 however I was charged $11.19. The medium drink was $4.79. Obviously a high profit item. Also the drink machine could not dispense ice and my plastic cup had to be manually filled at another location. Also the machine was not immediately working and had to be "turned on" in order to dispense the drink. This is a sign of a restaurant NOT prepared to serve the public! I would suggest that anyone considering Mexican food to please consider other restaurants as this one is not a good choice.
