We visited De Oro Mexican Grill on Rangeline for the first time. This is the location that used to be Cancun Mexican restaurant. The menu is more "new age"Mexican rather than traditional Mexican. If you want traditional, Mexican, you will be disappointed. Although they have items on the menu that they say are traditional, even those have a bit of a new age spin to them. We ordered a large queso dip for nine dollars. They served it as two small orders of queso. It was white queso and we thought it was very good. For dinner, we ordered the King Tostada. You can get it with steak for $19, blackened chicken for $17, blackened salmon for $18, and shrimp for $20. We ordered the blackened chicken. It comes with chips, refried beans, chili sauce, melted cheese, Romain, lettuce, pico de gallo, queso, fresco, and sour cream. The lettuce is tossed in a lime vinaigrette. We did like this dish. The menu, we thought, was a bit difficult to read. In fact, we had a difficult time finding the fajitas listed on the menu. Since many of the dishes had a new age spin, we had a hard time, deciding what to order. In fact, the King Tostada that we ordered had radishes on it, even though it was not listed as an ingredient on the menu. To drink we ordered the house margarita. A 27 ounce margarita is $15.50. A 12 ounce margarita is $9.99. The atmosphere looks like a normal Mexican restaurant. In fact, it does not appear that any renovations were made to the interior from when the location was called Cancun. The service was good. Our waitress was very friendly. If you like, non-traditional, Mexican. You may like this place. However, we like, and expected, more of a traditional Mexican menu. We prefer that type of Mexican food. As a result, this is a location that we probably will not visit often. However, feel free to give it a try because you may like the different twist on Mexican food items. I am including pictures of the menu so you can make a determination before you visit.

This is the greatest Mexican restaurant of all time, and I've been to many Mexican restaurants and this place has the best tacos I have ever had. The queso dip is also amazing and the salsa, I recommend this for anyone is Carmel, there's beautiful lights inside and outside that make u feel in the mood, and the waitresses and waiters make u feel like family.

Dined in recently and found the ambience to be charming and fitting for a Mexican restaurant. Service was slower than expected--we waited quite a while just to receive water, and the food took some time to arrive. I ordered a cocktail, which was excellent. The steak fajitas were delicious and well-prepared, though the accompanying rice lacked flavor. Overall, a mixed experience with great food but room for improvement in service and sides.

I've driven by this unassuming place a thousand times and never thought to stop. I'm so glad I did this time. The chicken taco salad was AMAZING! Order extra Poblano sauce and get the hotter green salsa and you can thank me later. Delicious!

Come try the delicious churros freshly made!

We are open every day including sundays from 12pm-9pm. not sure why it shows we are closed on sundays. Come try our delicious food. You won't regret it

De oro is easily the best restaurant I've ever been to the food is the best and the staff do the most they can to make your experience the best.

The food was beyond amazing! Every dish was a perfect balance of flavor and presentation. You can tell the chef is incredibly talented!! each plate felt like a personal expression of their passion for cooking. It's rare to find food that's this thoughtful and elevated without feeling pretentious. Chef Manuel clearly brings both skill and heart to the kitchen. Will definitely be coming back again

Y'all. We've had some insanely good food over our lifetime eating at some of the top restaurants in the world. This food at De Oro is exceptional. The presentation was excellent, the flavors were wonderful, the restaurant was spotlessly clean and they have TONS of seating. There are TV's everywhere making it fantastic for sports nights, and the service was prompt and helpful. I would wager to say that this is now one of the hidden gems of Carmel. It's so unassuming on the outside. Go flood them with business. They absolutely deserve it!

Yesterday, I decided that I would not be cooking dinner and instead opted to order pizza and dessert to be picked up on my way home. This is such a cute, quaint little shop located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station. So very unassuming, yet quite impressive. I loved the two cute yellow tables and chairs out on the sidewalk as well as the Sinatra that was playing when I entered the shop. I was greeted warmly and let me say how much I value a pleasant and genuine interaction like that. Someone came to the front of the store from the kitchen in the back, and she too greeted me with a very welcoming and warm smile. This fact alone makes me want to return and support this place of business. My pizzas were prepared fresh and handed to me hot out of the oven. The deserts, an assortment of 3 different kinds of cookies as well as two slices of cake, were kept separate and cold. My husband loved the pizza (he is somewhat of a connoisseur) and I enjoyed it as well. The carrot cake was a bit dense for my liking and the pistachio ricotta was decadent. My husband really enjoyed these sweet treats as a night cap! I loved the cookies. I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. It had a great contrast in texture with the soft-baked cookie being perfectly complemented by the crunch of the pistachio pieces, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more cookies, cakes and pastries in the future! They also carry some authentic imported Italian products, such as pomodoro sauce.

Highlights were the black & white cookie, Italian cookie, and lemon curd cookie. The chocolate truffle and dipped chocolate cookie were loved by my husband and my friend loved the pistachio cannoli! She told me about the cookies and drinks they have. The drinks sounded interesting so I thought I'd try one out. I asked the worker for her recommendation and she told me her favorite drink was the Full Blitz. The base was sprite mixed with some fruity flavors. It sounded good, so I purchased that. It didn't take her long to make it, and the color of the drink was pretty. I was happy with the selection because it was delicious, I thanked the worker for her recommendation. They offer different sizes, I went with the smallest which was a 16oz and it cost a little under $4. I noticed the inside isn't too big, and it looked more like you grab and go here. I didn't see any inside seating for dining in, although outside had a table so could be an option for when the weather is nice. Parking for this location is street parking, they have spots right out front, and it is free. They change cookie flavors every Friday morning.

The service when I got to the shop was awesome. My order was ready to go. However, this is where things changed. I ordered the lemon poppyseed. Now, if I was just ordering a poppyseed cookie, this would've been nine out of 10 there was crispness to the edges, soft middle, but not too soft and also not too sweet's a really solid cookie. However, since I went into it thinking this was gonna be lemon including lemon icing drizzle on the top I did not smell lemon when I first smelled the cookie and I did not taste any lemon in the cookie itself so I have to say that my review went from 9 to 5 out of 10 because I love lemon flavor and almost never does anyone have enough lemon flavor. in this case there wasn't any. Highly disappointed crave. Onto the next cookie, I ordered the mango sticky rice because the ingredients looked awesome and the concept sounded good There are big chunks of mango in every bite. I believe these are dried mango pieces. I think fresh mango would've tasted better, but probably would've led to a much more wet cookie. This cookie was pretty dense. It was not as soft as the first cookie however, it was also not very sweet which was good. I would probably order this again.

The raspberry pistachio croissant? Oh. My. God. This thing had me in a chokehold. Flaky, buttery layers with the perfect balance of tart raspberry and rich pistachio. It wasn't just good -- it was write-home-about-it good. The kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite and question every other croissant you've ever had. The second was a croissant sandwich (I wish I could remember the name!), but the way those flavors paired together? Let's just say it was a full culinary experience. Savory, balanced, indulgent -- you get the hint. Every bite just made sense. Now here's the part that really says something: I grew up on the East Coast where authentic French bakeries are everywhere and the cultural standard is high. I know a proper croissant. And this? This was better. Yes, I said it. We even had the chance to speak with the owner, who was incredibly warm and genuine. He checked in to make sure we enjoyed everything -- which we clearly did, considering we left with boxes to take home. This place isn't just a pastry shop. It's an experience. And trust me, it will be a topic of discussion in our house for days. Run. Don't walk.
