I had heard of this cocktail lounge from a few people and finally got to try it out. It's the Bees Knees (yes, that's also a drink on their menu). It was a busy Saturday night but a table was found for us quickly, tucked in the back. The menu descriptions are whimsical and amusing, which means you take longer to make your selection because it all sounds enticing. Fortunately, we were waited on by Coco - author of said prose on the menu. She helped whittle down our order with knowledgeable insights and a fun attitude. First, we had to start with their award winning classic martini - 8 times Seattle champions? How could you not be curious? Deliciously cold and crisp; the olive was perfectly briny. We ordered some mixed nuts and marinated olives to accompany the drinks. The olives were unfortunately too vinegary so we returned them (which was handled gracefully and without question), but the nuts were delicious so we ordered another bowl to replace the olives. We had intended to move on to the next bar, but couldn't get the description of our first choice of drinks out of our minds. So we placed our order and settled in for the night... The Corpse Reviver No2 was a perfect balance of tart, sweet, and refreshing. The Last Stroh tasted like a next level Manhattan - superb. Atmosphere and people watching was great, conversation was flowing. The vibe just called for another round of the same drinks, this time with Parmesan garlic fries. These were hot, crispy, and topped generously with Parmesan and a mixture of fresh minced garlic and parsley. Sometimes chopped garlic can get too pungent; this was delicious. I was so disappointed when I came to Oliver's while recently visit visiting in Seattle. I had been craving a dirty martini with blue cheese olives, and so I finally searched and found that Oliver's was the place to go. The bar is beautiful. It's connected to a historic hotel and has windows on the corners of the bar on a busy corner in Seattle. Great for people watching.. I had gotten there right around 6 o'clock and a big group of people were just leaving the bar. The bartender was clearly frustrated as I'm sure that was a lot of people to serve at one time and then to clean up after them after they left. . however, frustrated or not after he brought me my water it took him a long time to get my drink order and then they had no more blue cheese. All of the left. I asked him how long it would take for him to make them I could clearly tell he was not happy with my question. He said it would take at least 20 minutes so I had my dirty martini with standard olives and went on my way. It was a shame because I really wanted to find a little martini bar right in the city for my next visit although Oliver's was an extremely great bar great location. Nice bar albeit a bit pricey in my opinion. For my only drink I purchased here, I ordered an Uptown Margarita that was one of the House Special drinks. The drink was composed of Reposada Tequila, Elderflower liquor and lime juice. Although my drink was well made it really came across as a Tequilla based Martini versus a real Margarita and I was not a fan of the Elderflower. Having said that I saw plenty of happy customers enjoying their drinks and will chalk it up to a poor selection on my part. Bartender was quite friendly and bar itself was clean and melded nicely into the hotel retro/classy theme. Overall I would say that if you just looking for the convenience of a close bar that can make just about any drink you can think of and don't mind paying a little more for your drinks than this bar will definately fit the bill for you. Oliver's is on the downhill path. This "old fashioned" bar in a "great" old hotel used to be a place to meet after work or add on the Holiday bar-hop. The ambiance is gone. It's gone from classic to cheesy- corporate. Replacing beautiful seating with ugly banquet chairs, horrible lighting permeates instead of adding a glow, and at large the place needs a good zuhzh. That said, the drink menu is still quite excellent and the bartender knows what he's doing. The staff is super lovely and accommodating. You've got two-out-of-three but if you're looking for a well lit and well designed space... go to The Olympic Bar or Hotel Sorrento Fireside Room. read more

Had drinks and a meal here during my stay at the Mayflower this week and wasn't too enamored by the rude waitstaff at times, but the drinks were great and burger well-made. My personal favorites from here were the sides pictured with my drinks below (pita and hummus, bread and whipped butter). For whatever reason, that whipped butter blew me away. And the hummus was just perfect. We came back later in the night on the same day of our initial visit (where we had the drinks and sides) for dinner and took a seat in the hotel lobby (since some of our party was under 21 and they'll serve you dinner outside the bar). The host and waitstaff were both very curt and rude while addressing our group this time however, unprovoked. Bit unfortunate since we had a nice experience just earlier in the day. Nice bar and restaurant located in the Mayflower Park Hotel downtown. The huge floor to ceiling windows and upscale decor makes this a great place to have a bite and drinks. The shrimp cocktail was fresh with a spicy cocktail sauce that was fantastic. All the drinks were expertly crafted with my favorite being the Urban Oasis. This cocktail was made with a house-infused white pepper-strawberry gin (fantastic), Aperol, and Brut Rose and is a must have. Last but not least, the service was perfectly and did not have to wait for anything. They also have Sunday brunch and I will be back to try more dishes soon. read more

A cute bar tucked into the lobby of the Mayflower Hotel -- it has a nice ambiance and I stopped in with a friend to snag a quick drink before watching a movie at Pacific Place. The decor is classy and low-key, and they had a full food menu too. The cocktails all sounded pretty interesting, but the one I got just ended up tasting too spirit-forward for my taste so I grabbed a beer later. We also got the artichoke dip and that was very tasty. My one knock is that it was really hard to get the waiter's attention, even on a day when it wasn't busy. We had a hard stop time to catch our show, so it was frustrating that we had to ask 3 different people to grab our check so we could make it in time. Located in the Mayflower Hotel, Oliver's Lounge is the best bar I should visit more often. My friend and I came after watching a symphony performance at Benaroya and did not feel over dressed. It has this classy, low-key ambiance where people who want to drink solid craft cocktails go. It wasn't very busy when we visited and we were prompted to sit wherever we liked. Our waiter was fantastic - he was engaging, funny, and charming. He regularly checked in with us and had lovely conversation. The drinks were fantastic - well balanced, delicious. The Aviation cocktail is easily the best Aviation I've drank in King County. It was perfectly balanced with not too much creme de violette. The Bee's Knees was also exceptionally, though I may not opt for the egg whites next time because I didn't find it enhanced the flavor but did add a unique textural component. We ended with the s'mores which admittedly got us giggling a bit after watching the movie The Menu, but I can say if this was what s'mores would've tasted like when I was a kid I'd never stop eating them. After trekking desperately in the cold all over Seattle trying to find a cozy bar that 1) served espresso martinis 2) was open past a reasonable hour (9/10pm on a Saturday night), I am so glad my friends and I gave Oliver's Lounge a try. It's located in the historic Mayflower Park Hotel, just a few blocks away from Amazon HQ or Pike Place. It's very cozy and beautiful inside - lots of small tables, booth seating, bar seating for groups of any size looking to grab a drink. Our server was incredibly friendly and confirmed that we could order an off the menu espresso martini. To top it off, they were delicious too! Sad, it seems the Mayflower hotel has new owners. They have not preserved the classic blue sapphire martini, changing the gin (what were they thinking... That martini won tons of awards). The complementary peanuts are gone and they now sell an eight dollar mini ramekin of mixed nuts. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and the pour look like it was barely 3 ounces and cost $20. The chardonnay was good, it was just a miserly amount served in a cheap thick wine glass.. We had BLTs for dinner, but the salad that came with it looked like it had been processed with a paper cutter and was barely dressed. It seems they are banking on just serving hotel guests that are there briefly and not preserving their great reputation with us who live in the city. We will be looking for a new holiday night venue. read more

-4 is how I would rate my experience. One of the worst dining experiences (on Thanksgiving no less ha) I've ever had in the past 20 years. Bartender decided not to make my drink for the first 30 min. I understand and have had to work a holiday. It was filled but not packed. The service from the bartender and the servers warrant a review to warn future diners. But the food holy moly, with all due respect terrible. 100 + for the experience and I genuinely will only mention this restaurant to fellow diners whether solo or in groups or visiting from out of state, do not go here. We have been coming to Oliver's for a long time and so sad to see how it's changed in the past couple of years. They used to have one of the best drink menus and it has seriously downgraded. What happened to the amazing Trader Vic's Mai Tai's and other signature drinks? Ordered a Mai Tai during my last visit and it was just pineapple juice and rum. No more nice cloth napkins while dining and the food is lacking. This used to be one of our go to places for the ambience, drinks, and food. Now, not so sure. We enjoyed a round of cocktails at Oliver's Lounge in our hotel lobby on Saturday evening before getting ready to head out to a later dinner rezzie outside of the hotel. We snagged two spots at the bar and glanced over the menu. I ended up ordering a margarita which is pretty standard for me. I would have liked to switch it up and try something new but of the three drinks I inquired about, the bartender said the margarita. It was fine, it was just a standard margarita (i may make mine at home better in all honesty) but after enjoying a day out it was nice to have a drink before dinner even if it tasted like a dive bar drink. I wouldn't go as far as saying you need to wander in to have a drink if you aren't staying here, the cocktail game didn't seem to be at that level for me - although the spot is pretty chill so I suppose if the weather weren't nice out and you needed a little place to dip into, Oliver's would do the trick. They also serve food, if we weren't going to be going to dinner soon I would have ordered a couple little snackies but I wanted to save my appetite. Service was friendly enough, nothing extraordinary and most seating was taken so people definitely do enjoy stopping in. They open at 330P and we arrived around 715P to a nearly full house. If I stayed here again I'd definitely swing back in for a drink, if I was staying elsewhere I don't know that I'd find my way back. read more

On of the evenings while I stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel I stopped 9n Oliver's Lounge for a light dinner. The lounge is quite cool and classy tosay the least. I ordered the Caesar Salad at $10 and assorted Marinated Olives plate for $6. The olives were very good. The Castelvetrano olives came with a clever orange zest and herbs. The olives were delicious on their own but with the added orange zest and herb, they were great and I could not help to polish them all off rather quickly. The Caesar salad was another story and did not satisfy my palate as Caesar salads go. I felt that the dressing on the salad was rather bland. It not only needed that infusion of anchovy flavor, a bit of acidity, and a salt. I asked for a side of anchovies and that did help a bit but not enough. In the end salad needed a better Caesar dressing, perhaps some shaved Parmesan Cheese, and larger and more flavorful croutons. I had hot loose leaf tea with my meal which was nice. Service was very good and friendly, but a Caesar salad coming out of the Andaluca kitchen needs to be memorable. read more

Well, since we just left work we were dressed nice for once so why not? Grabbed seats at the bar and were greeted by a very friendly bartender on a Wednesday night. Happy hour from 9-11pm and we ordered one of their tequila special cocktails and a glass of white wine. Wine was good. Tequila had a little too many bitters in it.
