If you value your time, money and sanity, do not use Todd DeGroat with Ya Dirt Outdoor…read more Todd came out to give us a quote to assemble a carport and enclose one that was already assembled. The quote also included building a lean to off one of them. Quote was $3000. Ok cool. Gave him a deposit of $1500. Told us it would take about 2 days. Started on Saturday august 5th. Once he started the work, it was downhill from there. Would just come and go when convenient for him. Hour here, hour there. No biggie. Just figured he was busy and we are pretty laid back people. On Friday August 11th, I made the mistake of asking him if he did concrete work. He said yes and gave us a quote of $2200 to lay concrete on our front patio area. He then told me that my longhorn ripped the grill off of his truck. Mentioned it multiple times but kept saying "I don't want you to do anything, I'm just telling you". After mentioning it for the 4th time, I asked if he wanted reimbursement for it and that I would be happy to discuss. He declined. We gave him a deposit of $1500 for the concrete which he told us was scheduled for the next day. Next day came around, and no Todd or concrete. Tried calling and no response. I waited until Monday to reach out again. Went straight to voicemail. At some point on Monday, he came to our property to get his dump trailer, still no communication with us about the concrete that was scheduled for the Saturday before. My husbands trailer was in the way of the gate and instead of knocking on the door, he used his truck to move our trailer out of the way. Didn't hook it up and left the trailer with the hitch in the ground. My husband was home and easily could have helped. It wasn't until Monday afternoon that we realized that he came and got the dump trailer. At this point we were just assuming that he was dipping out. I found him on Facebook and realized we had a mutual friend. I contacted her and told her asked if he was ok and if she knew what was going on. She reached out to him the next day and he finally called me. 3 days after he said concrete would be there. He showed up on Wednesday and spent 30 minutes "prepping" the area. Told me concrete would be there at 8am Thursday and he would be there at 7am to finish prepping. Next morning, concrete truck there at 7:30, no Todd. He finally showed up around 8 and did zero prep. Just had the guy pour the concrete. I confirmed with him that he knew what he was supposed to do with the landscape lights and he said he did. Well he didn't. We realized that one was in the wrong place but I told him to just leave it and I'll make sure that night that the lights still looked ok on the house before he ripped it up and moved it. So he just leveled the concrete and left. Said he would be back later to brush it and finish it. Never came back. Came back on Friday and worked on it a little bit. Texted me and told me he wasn't happy with it and that he wanted to fix it. It wasn't until we got home that we realized how bad the work was. He buried our landscape lights under the concrete so that we cannot even pull them out far enough to change them if needed or access the wiring. The pitch was off by about 2 inches and the water was pooling at the house. There were no brush marks around the edges. It was an all around terrible job. I reached out to Todd who basically just lost his shit. After screaming at me on the phone, I decided that we were done. He wasn't welcome back. Basically said he was coming to get his money whether we liked it or not. Hung up on him while he was screaming at me. I then texted him and informed him that i would not be paying a dime for the shit concrete job. Reminded him that we had already given him $3000 and he hadn't finished a single project yet. Almost 2 weeks after he started. He then Called me every name in the book and then begged to let me let him come finish the work. Said it was an easy fix and that i was "acting crazy". At this point, we were done. We were not willing to let him even attempt to do his patching up. He hadn't even finished the first projects that he started and was very nasty and threatening. You also cannot fix what he had done. Even if he had a way to raise the pitch, he couldn't because there was no extra wire for the lights to work with. It would have to be removed to save the lights. We have now had 2 separate concrete companies come out and both said it needs to be completely ripped out and we may not be able to save the landscape lights (4 total at $250 a piece). Very unprofessional and we are out $3000 that we paid him for trash work and $3000 that we will spend to have the concrete redone. Todd then blocked me on Facebook so he could trash talk us as if he had done us so many favors. Which is fine, he may not want to see this review anyway. ‍ On a plus side, his crew was pretty nice.
