Went in last week (02/23/2026) to get my tooth prepped for a crown, the process was easy and not intimidating at all. Went in today (03/04/2026), to get my crown I was in and out within 10 minutes. Dr. Risos has the skills and patience of a monk. She will talk you through the whole process from start to finish. You literally can not be more at ease while getting it done. I know the dentist can be a scary place for some, but if you are one of those ppl. Give this office a try, you will notice the difference immediately. read more

The Lady in the front desk & the dental hygienist are awesome, very professional and nice but I'm not sure we can call Deanna Risos a dentist. She is condescending and not professional. But the worst is she literally drilled a hole in my filling and told me that I needed a root canal. I have both x-rays that were done just a few days prior and the day she made the hole. And I did not have the "crack" she said! A few days later, I went to another dentist and he confirmed exactly what I'm saying. I have receipts and xrays to prove it. This other professional Dentist fixed the crack by filling it properly, which I am very thankful.. so obviously Deanna was lying. I do not recommend her at all! read more

i wrote my detailed review of Deanna Risos' work just three days ago -- and one of the front fillings came out as i flossed tonight. JUST 3 DAYS! i'd like to remove even this one star! i also checked the back tooth that i had told her was missing a filling, along with the two front fillings. Risos told me that the filling was still there. She had dental tools to really see -- she told me a LIE. With my magnifying mirror, i can see that there is obviously NO filling on that tooth. I recently went to a dentist for cleaning a X-ray for typical check up and my previous dentist Risos did nothing but scammed me for long time!!! Her office did nothing but to take an advantage of me and my kids for 10 years since her last visit which has been for several years. The reason why I am bring this up now is because I don't want anyone or families to go through what I have gone through. I had to get mouth Guard due to clamping my teeth while I sleep. Risos tooth impressions of my teeth and send it to another third-party make the actual mouth guard and return it back to me. I just recently took my mouth guard to a new dentist and he was shocked because the mouth guard was not the hard plastic piece but a rubber ones that I could have gotten from Dick's sporting store. I've even got bridges done from her which pieces got broken probably because I didn't have a correct mouth guard. She costed me lot of pain suffering and now it's going to cost me more to correct the damage she has caused!!! I am going to let the word out to others through word of mouth!!! read more

I don't really have time to write a reviews, but I thought it wouldn't be fair to others that go to this dentist without fair WARNING. I wish I could give a Negative 5 Star rating to this woman. As a quick summary, I visited this "dentist" twice. After each cleaning she came in and essentially used scare tactics to try and con me into expensive procedures that needed to be done 'immediately'. The 1st 'recommendation' was that I needed 4 teeth pulled. After many years with my previous dentist, they NEVER informed me that my teeth needed extraction. However, due to the apparent end-of-year money grab this woman was going for, from my better than average insurance, she was literally putting the phone in my hand to make the call to her 'referral'. This was so she could get this done before year end (2018). Total estimate - $16,000. I proceeded to call her out and to look me straight in the eye and say that, in her professional opinion, I really need this procedure. She couldn't and just walked out saying my teeth will fall out in 3 months. My BS sensor was in full tilt at that point and told myself I will never go back. Fast forward to 2019 (more than 3 months later). Although I said that I would never go back, decided to give it another go as the hygienist was decent from the last visit. I decided to make another appointment, just for the teeth cleaning. The cleaning was ok. After the hygienist was done, the crazy comedy act began when Deanna came in. I was expecting her to harp about getting my teeth extracted but she threw me for a loop. She proceeded to inform me that I need gum grafting! Really?! But it doesn't stop there. She said that before I do the grafting, I need to whiten my teeth and told the assistant to proceed to get the trays ready for custom impressions for the whitening (Cost - $2,000). Lets be clear, I never mentioned/asked for teeth whitening! The final joke to her stand-up comedy act is her cost estimate for the gum grafting. She informed me that the grafting was going to cost $80k! And...that I needed to immediately call her 'referal' to get this scheduled right away. She then informed me that they will report on what needs to be done and she will do the procedure. I was laughing and again, proceeded to call her out and inform her that at my 1st visit, she recommended teeth extraction. Today, she is saying that it's gum grafting. She became very defensive and talked over me that the grafting needs to be done. What a crock of sheeite the woman is selling. I am amazed she is still practicing with the type of business ethics I've experienced. As the other bad reviews are consistent with my experience, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Doctor did 6 fillings in one go, she's not supposed to do so many in one go because it changes your bite too much. My bite felt wrong and was uneven. Which caused jaw pain and headaches. She tried fixing it twice. After that they tried sending me to a specialist that my insurance doesn't cover. My bite was fine prior to the fillings and I had no pain in my jaw prior to the work this dentist did. Dr. Risos is not responding to my emails anymore to fix the fillings she did. Shady practice to ignore patients after messing up their teeth and bite. I would not recommend this dentist based on my experience. read more

I wanted to give an honest review of Dr Risos and her staff. I realized I never left a review. She was recommended to me from a military spouse. I have always been terrified of dentist but she put me at ease the first visit. She is very caring and very knowledgeable, I have TMJ and from her referral found out I had sleep apnea. She was great from getting my insurance coverage information to getting my mouth guard approved. She is exactly who you want to see and have someone the cares about your teeth and health not trying to overcharge for services you don't need. I was refferred to her by a family member and she is now me and my daughters family dentist. Staff: They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and effiecient. They've taken real good care of me and my daughter, best customer service I've ever eperienced at a Dental clinic. Most importantly, the clinic is spot-free and well-organized. This is a VERY delayed review, but I went to Dr. Risos several times and the last time I went was for a filling. I was in excruciating pain, and I explained that I have had fillings performed before but never experienced this kind of pain during a dental procedure. Dr. Risos explained that it was my "anxiety" that was causing the pain, which is not true as that I just had dental work performed by another dentist and I was in zero pain as that the numbing agents worked well. My guess is that she was not putting the numbing agent in the correct location therefore it felt like she was drilling on top of my nerve. I will never go back!! DO NOT go here unless you want to be scammed and sold on unnecessary procedures. She even recommended that I do a sleep study when I have zero problems with sleep or medical issues!! read more

Run far away ...DO NOT book an appointment. This dentist will Fuck your teeth up. She will cause you more pain then when you went in. Both my husband and I had zero pain or problems with our teeth...she filled a couple fillings on him and he's been in pain for the last 4 months...she states it will go away... I thought I was getting my amalgam fillings removed and crowns put on ...I ended up needing 2 unnecessary root canals because she damaged the nerves so severely. I went to 2 different dentist to get second opinions...and both reviewed my exrays and were shocked at how I ended up in excruciating pain from what should have been 2 simple crowns. read more

Dr. Risos is not a real Dentist. I had some concerns about my teeth and wanted to get my cavities filled (the most average task a Dentist can perform) and Dr. Risos didn't even check my teeth and said I didn't have any cavities and walked away. Every time I'd ask her a question, she'd refer me to a Specialist. She performs very low quality work and makes a lot of mistakes. Last year, I also saw her for my routine check up, and she didn't want to fill my cavities, I almost had to beg her in which she agreed to. Secondly, she removed an old silver filling and now I supposedly need a "root canal" because she did something wrong, I guess she drilled too far in. I went to get a second opinion from a REAL Dentist, and I was told I had multiple cavities, some fractured teeth, and a tooth that had "patched fillings" done by Risos. Basically what Dr. Risos did was, instead of removing my old fillings, like a real Dentist is supposed to, she just patched it up, kept the old ones there and added the filling. After reading the amazing reviews on yelp for Dr. Risos, I decided to visit her for an emergency issue. I had an appointment at 10 and wasn't seated until about 1030. I am not upset about the wait time since she is the only doctor there. The issue was that they try to upscale everything. I spent a good 1 to 1.5 hr watching videos about extractions and periodontal disease. After watching the videos, the gal at the front came to me with a summary of treatment. After all this, my emergency issue was never resolved and when dr. Risos said she was going to give me a prescription for an antibiotic, she never wrote me one. Thank you dr. Risos. The main reason I went to this office was because of the hygienist; unfortunately, I encountered Deanna who insisted I needed a crown, without fully explaining that my tooth would be removed down to the root. When I arrived for the procedure, I had to watch a mandatory video; after viewing a few minutes of the video I promptly walked out of the office. The idea of removing my tooth was revolting. I went for a second opinion and it turns out, I never needed a crown. 3 years later, still don't need a crown. In addition, I was given a "sleep guard" aka whitening tray from "Dr. Risos" which did not last 3 months; I now know what a real sleep guard (which was recommended from another dentist) should look and feel like ---- nothing like what "Dr. Risos" made me pay $250 for. This is the worst provider I have ever been seen by. Save yourself the headache. read more

I absolutely ADORE Dr. Risos!! I am new to San Diego (from Memphis) and went to YELP for a good recommendation. Dr. Risos had great reviews, so I chose her. Had to have 3 crowns and she did an amazing job! She is patient, does everything she can to make you comfortable, and walks you through everything she is doing. Dr. Risos has been my dentist for over a year now, and I was referred to her by some close friends of mine. I have had no complaints about her and her staff. They are so extremely nice to me, and made me feel like family. I have had a few cleanings there, and Pam the hygienist is extremely thorough in her work, and awesome advice on how to maintain the health of my teeth. Dr. Riso's assistants always make me feel very welcome, and make sure that I have a comfortable experience. Dr. Risos is very knowledgeable about her craft, always offering me all of my options, without putting any pressure on me as to what I should decide to do. I just recently got a second crown from Dr. Risos, and the entire experience (from preparing the tooth for the crown, using the temporary, and then placing the final crown on) was very stressless. Dr. Risos' facility is very modern...they even have digital glasses so you can watch a movie during a lengthy procedure. Dr. Risos and her staff do a great job of explaining what they are doing during a procedure. Dr. Risos is one of the best dentists I have ever had...and I hope to have her as my dentist for a long time. I recommend her and her staff very highly! read more

First of all they are open on some Saturdays! what a great idea! It was my first visit with my 16 year old daughter for exam, cleaning and i guess I needed a fill...We were the last appt of the day, we were in and out in 2 hours...I did not feel rush at all. I have gotten my teeth clean before but PAM (hygienist) gave me the best cleaning ever! Front office staff is very professional...The girl that took my Xrays ( JLO) is super friendly and funny...Dr Deana Risos is very thorough in explaining everything to me...And they even fit me for a mouth guard! Like some of the other negative reviews, she will definitely suggest sleep studies and seeing specialists she will refer you to. I was pretty disappointed with my last visit with her. I had started thinking some things seemed strange. Such as being told every visit I had cavities and that I needed a crown. Issues which I've never had before. Went in for a filling a few weeks ago and ended up having excruciating pain after. Scheduled a check up a few days later and she insisted there was nothing wrong, became very defensive and condescending. She said if I didn't believe her I should go get a second opinion. Well I did, and money out of pocket later, I had to get the filling redone. The new dentist couldn't believe how poorly the previous filling had been done. They also told me I do not need a crown! Dr. Risos' dentist office is one of the best I've ever visited. I am not a typical yelp-er so this is a huge deal for me. Everyone was very kind and informative esp. my hygienist, Sarah. Confessing to her that it had been 3-4 yrs since my last visit to a dentist, she made everything very relaxing and enjoyable. If I could give this Dentist a negative star I would. I had just moved to Eastlake and looked for a family dentist. I found it convenient that Dr. Risos took visits on Saturdays. I brought my two teen daughters in for a routine check up. My daughters have always had healthy teeth. Never had cavities nor other issues. First visit, to my surprise Dr. Risos's quickly discovered they each had about 4 and 6 cavities, even in the front two teeth. That was a shock and quite unexpected because they had been seen by there last dentist in Palm Desert 6 month prior and he had not mentioned any signs of cavities or decay, in fact quite the opposite, he mentioned how proud he had been of the girls good hygiene, he had been their dentist since they were toddlers. I mentioned to Dr. Risos that the girls had sealants for the molars she now claimed had cavities. She insisted it was true and added that the two front tooth's did as well (no arguing there since those front teeth had not been sealed, although I thought it was strange). She convinced me with all her talking (loud) and went ahead and filled the cavities. Job was done, my insurance was billed. I decided to called their old dentist to ask him if he had noticed any decay or cavities forming on their very last visit with him. He told me he would review the records and xrays and get back to me. The next day he returned my call confirming there had been no such evidence. Six months later the girls had their routine cleaning with Dr. Risos. AGAIN she said the girls had at least 4 and 5 cavities each. As she was informing she was preparing one of my girls to start procedures immediately and called for her front desk personal give me a quote of the cost for that visit. All really fast. Front desk quickly gave me a quote of $1300 and asked if was paying by "check or credit card". I was taken by complete surprise and was not prepared. My husband, who was there with me this time said to me "this is crazy", and decided to leave with both my girls, I went back and stopped Dr. Risos and got my daughter out of the chair and had both my girls leave with dad. I stayed and spoke to Dr. Risos asking her to show and explain to me what was going on. I could not get any straight answers from her, she went on and on making no sense whatsoever, only got louder and pointed at xrays on her screen, never making eye contact with me. I was more confused then ever. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt (because I felt a little embarrassed at that moment that my husband got up and took the girls away.... so glad he did) but she was just so strange about the whole thing. Before I left I requested a printout on what teeth she claimed needed filling and which ones had been filled on their the last visit. I proceeded to call our insurance to question my coverage, wondering why I was being charged upfront $1300 at Dr. Risos, still giving Dr. Risos the benefit of the doubt. I found out by speaking to the ins. agent that the teeth she wanted to work on were not covered because Dr. Risos had already collected on those teeth last time. She had exceeded the annual insurance coverage. The Ins. agent mention I had the right to get two opinions, so that is what I did. My husband and I took a day off from work each to take the girls to two different dentists for 2nd and 3rd opinions. Turns out both dentist confirmed the girls had NO cavities what so ever. I was so upset that Dr. Risos had lied and performed unnecessary work on both my girls. She had claimed payment for some services that were never rendered. She scammed us!! I wrote her a letter and sent her the results of the 2nd and 3rd opinions including xrays for her review. I requested an explanation from her. Of course I got no reply. I think I will look into another way to proceed with this matter. In the meantime, I warn everyone, please beware of Dr. Risos. If you have decent insurance she will try and take every penny by lying and performing unnecessary procedures. read more

I went to Dr. Risos office because of an excruciating toothache. I had not established myself at hers- or any - dentist office in the area and was nervous about both showing up to a new practice and also trusting her enough to guide me towards the best solution for my pain (as opposed to a flashy, inevitably more expensive solution that I feel some dentists push on you.) She was highly recommended by friend's and my experience did not disappoint those reviews. She was thorough, empathetic to my pain, and when it was evident that my infection and issue was too great a need to be met at her office she referred me to an excellent oral surgeon in Hillcrest. She ensured that I was able to get in within the hour- and because of her diligence I had the entire issue taken care of by later that afternoon. I would not recommend going to this dentist unless you want to be scammed. I have very good dental insurance that I pay extra money every month for, in addition to my regular health insurance. I saw Dr. Risos in early 2015 for an infection. On the first appointment, they recommended a deep cleaning to help with the infection. She also removed the cap on my infected tooth and I had to get a new cap. It's been over a year, and I'm still being billed for god knows what. To date, I have paid $1,000 dollars for what she did. And my insurance has also paid $1,000. A total of $2,000!!!!! For a cap and a "deep cleaning"!!!!! My new dentist, who I trust very much because he is a personal friend of mine, told me that she completely overcharged me. And I didn't even need the deep cleaning. There were so many issues I had over the last year between Dr. Risos' office and my insurance company, but I'll save you the boring details and simply say this, save your money and a lot of stress and do not go to this dentist. They also tried to get me to do some sleep test with an office upstairs in the same building. I didn't do it, but I'm sure if I did they would have gotten a kick back. The whole office is a scam. I recently sent my boyfriend to my new dentist. He had to get a tooth extracted, bone grafting, 3 fillings and a cap. Guess how much he was charged? $500 for EVERYTHING.
