I'll be the first to admit that I was going into Death by Donutz with a strong bias against them from the start. In my opinion, adding a "z" to the end of a word to represent a "s", and using a skull as a logo are not the makings of a great donut shop. However, I thought I'd give Death by Donutz a try. The selection they had was great. There were a lot of colorful and fun donuts in the case as we entered the store. However, I soon found out that looks can be deceiving. After hearing some recommendations, I had asked "are any of them creme filled?" The employee pointed at a row and indicated which ones were. I asked for the chocolate iced creme-filled donut and a regular glazed donut. Chocolate iced creme-filled: Maybe it's my misinterpretation of what creme is, but I assumed it was a vanilla creme. No, it was a custard-filled donut to my dismay. I think this distinction should have been made by the employee. Glazed: Donut shops should be judged upon their ability to make a solid glazed donut, right? Just like pizza shops should be judged on their ability to make a cheese pizza. If so, then Death by Donutz severely fails as a donut shop. The initial bite into my glazed donut was not light and fluffy, but met with a donut that tasted like it was a day old and chewy. Grocery stores produce better tasting glazed donuts than the one I got from Death by Donutz. Grocery stores shouldn't be able to produce a better tasting glazed donut than an actual shop dedicated to donuts. Given the quality of these donuts, let me say that they are incredibly overpriced. For two glazed donuts and a "creme"-filled donut, it was $4.40. I am wiling to pay higher prices for quality food, but I am not willing to pay higher prices for okay(ish) donuts. Overall, I am giving two stars because "meh. I've experienced better." If you want the best donut in town, go to Benny's. If you want the second best donut, go to literally any grocery store in town. If you want an overpriced, okay(ish) donut, yes, go to Death by Donutz! read more

This was my favorite place in Corvallis to get donuts until the owner sold the place. Quality in donuts have gone downhill. Last time I went in I overheard some employees discussing the mistreatment they've received from the new owner. You can see into the back where the food is made how filthy the place is. I'm not super impressed by the new direction Roxy Dawgs has taken. That being said, the service is still incredibly friendly, and my opinion was asked on how to improve the food I ordered (so here's hoping for improvement when I update this review) The donuts themselves are very generic looking (with the exception of the Top-Shelf specialty ones) If you want a Dawg now, you need to order out of the window outside (Winter is not the best timing for this change)...but you can still eat it inside, and there's a smaller selection of toppings. I decided to try a specialty donut, the root beer one, and while it looked kind of nice, it was filled with what was a subtly Rootbeer flavored cake frosting, but mostly I just tasted pure sugar. Most of the donuts they have I could get at a local grocery store for half the price, and if I want a half dozen I won't have to take it out on a stick (they call it a sword-cute but inconvenient) if you want a box, buy a full dozen. Please bring back the full sausage toppings bar. Please. Three stars because wide selection and they still have the Dawgs, as well as them asking for feedback. I hope that this place develops or brings back full sausage service, because they have a very strong, established competitor in Benny's Donuts downtown. P.S. Had the samoa, banana pudding, nutella whip, choco coconut, banana fritter and their spin on maple bacon donut was amazzzinnggg. Candied bacon was so so good!! Fantastic donuts with nearly a guarantee of having something for everyone, and friendly service! The regular donuts appeared to be the standard fare (old fashioned, sprinkles, etc), but the "fancy" donuts are where it's at. Samoa (girl scout cookie), PB&J, cherry pistachio, and a bunch more. These donuts aren't cheap (over $20/dozen for the fancy ones), but you get what you pay for. Great weekend treat for the fam! read more

Definitely would not recommend giving this place your business. My boyfriend and I have been coming here pretty much weekly for over 2 years solely for the biscuits and gravy (the doughnuts are disgusting overly sweet and always taste old). They are never regular about their business hours and are all around just lacking professionalism as an establishment. The owner and manager is beyond rude and could not offer any sort of resolution when I had an issue with my order and was extremely hostile and immature considering he was supposedly the "owner". I'm not sure who runs and establishment that way and talks to regular customers in such a disrespectful manner but I would not spend my money here again. The one star is solely for the microwaved biscuits and gravy alone they are the best and cheapest I've found in Corvallis when they aren't freezing cold. wish I would have never spent any money here or supported this business in any way. 3pm on a Friday afternoon : Went for hot dogs because the Chicago Dog guy isn't around anymore. Donuts smelled amazing but there were no dogs to be had. I think they have them at night. Death By Donutz is a fantastic business ran by a genuine fellow. He takes criticism very well. He wants to do better and make his product the best that it can be. If you have any concerns or questions and an older gentleman is in the store, let him know what your concerns are and he will address them. You can still purchase Roxy Dawgs inside. You are not required to go to the window to order. It just helps separate orders when things are busy. I suggest trying the breakfast donuts. They are absolutely delicious. read more

Normally I love this place and go there often but the donuts tonight were like pure sugar and bssically all tasted the same and we had cherry, orange, blueberry and choclate but they tasted like the same frosting. Very disappointed and hoping this is just a fluke. I would highly recommended backing off on the sugar in the frosting and add more of the natural or intended flavoring. read more
