I like to come in here and work when I am spending my day in Winston and in need of a place to park myself for some computer work. If you're lucky, you can find free street parking along the park, though at peak times, that is unlikely. There are paid decks nearby, as well as random alleys and spots that you can slide into. This is a great place to come in and get a quick coffee or a bite to eat in the morning. They've got a pretty good selection of vegan baked goods. I'm not vegan personally but they're still delicious and well made. It's not a huge variety and I'm not sure where the baked goods are sourced but I've always been satisfied and happy with everything I've bought there. They usually have different slices of sweet style breads like banana bread, but in other "flavors" like cranberry. They also usually have muffins, yogurt parfaits and fruit cups. There's also some type of gelato but I haven't tried it. Beyond food and snacks the selection of coffee and drinks is good and the staff seems to know their stuff. I'm boring and usually get an Americano but I did have a perfect London Fog here a few weeks ago that really hit the spot. It seems to be a popular place with nearby students and a lot of people will hang out to do work or relax. Their hours are very generous too and you can come here for a late coffee or snack well into the evening. Staff is always friendly, welcoming and prompt. Finally the value of everything is great and all the food and drinks are very reasonably priced. Only real downsides are the food offerings aren't extensive beyond baked goods and the actual indoor space is somewhat small and low capacity. Overall it's an enjoyable solid local coffee spot that I'd recommend to anyone visiting downtown Winston-Salem. read more

We were in downtown Winston and saw this coffee shop and decided to try it, we did come in about 10-15 before closing which I know can be annoying but I was craving coffee!! Despite that, the employees were sooooo nice!!! The atmosphere was amazing, there was art on the walls you could purchase and a water fountain (it was currently not working but if it were, it would've been amazing). I got the honey bun latte and when I tell you it was like drinking a honey bun I mean it. My girlfriend had the gingerbread latte and it was good too, she enjoyed it but I am not a fan of gingerbread. I also had the vegan and gluten free brownie, you can tell it was made with applesauce because it had a slight fruit taste, but honestly it added to the flavor. It was very moist. My girlfriend had the pumpkin bread which was also delicious. I totally recommend this place! read more

Wonderful to finally have an iced coffee that's worth the money! Was very impressed the cup wasn't full of ice and a few ounces of drink (in comparison to Starbums). The employees at Debean on a Sunday were sweet, fast and orders were accurate. The brown sugar sweeteners did not overpower the coffee flavor (I tasted my partners coffee) . I had an iced matcha that was blended perfectly consistent throughout- from top to bottom, the matcha powder was suspended evenly- no clumps; not like some of the watered down versions at other places that have green layers sunk to the bottom of the cup. Can't believe I waited so long to come here. I had a great time in this super cute and cozy spot right by IQ/Bailey Park. I came just after noon and it was quiet/empty which was nice, found a parking spot right in front too. I got a drip coffee with peppermint syrup and it was just the pick me up I needed. They have plenty of seating, a great merch/retail section (I might have to get a specialty bag of beans next time), and tasty looking baked goods/gelato that will be on the list for next time. Simply can't recommend DeBeen Espresso more! One of my absolute favorite spots in Winston for coffee + snacks. The shop is usually very calm, quiet, + a nice place to study. Their espresso is perfect + they have such a wide variety of flavors, including an extensive sugar free syrup selection. (Sugar free almond is the best IMO!) My fiancé's favorite drink has to be their chai latte with oat milk though. It's lovely- ++ Can't forget the treats! As someone who is vegan, this shop is the very best. Almost every single baked good is completely plant based + they all taste incredible. Plus!!! They have homemade vegan gelato! The interior isn't too cold (I still bring a jacket because I'm cold blooded), the seats are pretty comfy (I still bring a blanket or pillow to sit on) and the cafe guests are typically a laid back group. Mostly people come in and out to get a coffee or snack, but some stay and work/study, or sit and chat quietly. The staff are usually pretty solid when it comes to helping pick something out - especially during the holidays the there are new seasonal treats. It was a beautiful sunny warmish day Saturday and husband and I were downtown so we stopped in. I didn't feel like hot coffee so I appreciated the kombucha bar area. They even offer tastings! I tried the chai kombucha and it was delicious. My husband ordered a frozen coffee blend drink and I tried it and tasted strong notes of vanilla but he said it was a regular coffee blend. It seriously was one of best blended cold coffee drinks I have tried in a long time and will definitely get it next time. I did love my kombucha though. I appreciate that this spot is open late on the weekends compared to the other coffee shops around town. The space seems to always be changing. There is now a large section of items to buy as opposed to my favorite table in the place. Womp womp. I usually like drip coffee. Apparently that is a no go at 6:50 pm. Not even one offering. I go to tea options then. I ordered "small" which I assumed was the 8 oz (the smallest size on the board). I was then rung up for something more costly. When I asked questions and we went around in circles the person working said the 12 oz is the small. Then what is the 8 oz? Extra small? Idk. Then the price was still more than what is posted. I have also had one of them blended, but can't remember which, but it was still just as good. they also sell a mix of dark white and milk chocolate covered espresso beans that are to die for! Very big list on the menu and what's even cooler is they have a cheat sheet as to what types of coffee they have. There was one barista, so it took approximately ten minutes to get my coffee. I've never been to this place before and recently checked in to try it out. It seemed like a hidden coffee shop next to Alma Mexicana. I'd just never noticed it there before because it blended in so well with the apartment building above it! With the 3, 30-minute parking spaces in front, I would think it was only convenient for the residents living nearby if you're getting there by car. Inside surprised me. For a small space, it was thoughtfully put together with a variety of places to sit from couches, tables, and this long stacked benchy thing that had charging outlets in it. There was also art decorated along the walls which gave the space a lot of an artsy personality (what do ya know!). Immediately thought that this would be a great place to switch up my work from home set up once in a while to enjoy coffee in the heart of downtown Winston while I got things done. The waiters were especially friendly and helpful with the menu, patient as I picked out other things for my cousin who I wanted to treat along with me. They told me that they'd been at this location for almost a year now, but had been in business for 24 years counting their High Point location. My cousin ended up getting a latte, bottled tea, and a blueberry muffin. She was not pleased with the muffin and did not finish it, believing that she's definitely had better muffins elsewhere. I tried it too and it was a bit underwhelming. Would probably order my baked goods somewhere else. Otherwise, they told me that they could basically customize anything on the menu to be hot or cold which was really cool. I ended up getting the matcha latte with soymilk and was especially pleased by this because soy is not available at all the cafes I frequent downtown. I usually go with oat milk as the alternative. Additionally, they have a kombucha tap if you're not feeling like tea or coffee as well as in-house baked goods, treats, and other drinks in the fridge you can purchase. This Was my first trip to this coffee shop last night. I was greeted immediately and the young lady was very kind and patient as we made our selections. The location was a very comfortable space. My friend and I sat catching up for a while and both of the workers were super nice and did not rush us to leave as they were cleaning and were very kind. Stopped by for the Yelp event this past Friday. I've passed by multiple times but haven't had the opportunity to stop in, so I'm glad for this event. The menu was super diverse and it took a bit to decide what all to try. I landed on the hot iron man latte, as well as a cold banana bread latte to go to enjoy later. I also chose a vegan cheddar biscuit. I'm not vegan, but appreciate all their options for those who need/want them. I feel like that is lacking at a lot of spots. This place has an absolute ton of options on their menu for both hot and cold drinks, a super chill and quiet atmosphere, and really good coffee. I ordered the eggnog latte and found it really nice and balanced, not overly sweet like some seasonal lattes can be. It is well lit with lots of outlets for productivity- there were quite a few people in there working on their laptops- but I can see also how it would be super convenient for a takeaway caffeine fix as well.
