We loved the tea and coffee. Pastries were good if you like rose water infusion. I do, but not everyone does.

All I ask for from a great coffee place is a wonderful latte, somewhere to sit, and good vibes. I walked into Debeen for the first time. The barista stared at me, so I approached her with a "hi!" She did not respond. This was a little odd and flustered me, so I picked the first latte I saw. The only thing she said during the whole transaction was a flat "what size?" Seating options were good: 2 person tables, a couple comfy lounge chairs, and a bar style work area by the window. My latte was DELICIOUS and flavorful. Not too sweet. About an hour later, I tried to use the restroom and realized you needed a code. I went to the front where you checkout to ask. No one was there , so I eventually peeked around the counter. The barista was sitting down on her laptop with headphones in. When I asked, she seemed annoyed, said the code, and returned to her laptop. Overall, I really liked the coffee, but the vibe was not good. As a newcomer to WS, I felt like I was a bother, a nuisance. I had more questions about the coffee and pastries, but was just too uncomfortable to ask with the whole silent-interaction going on. Perhaps this was an off day for them, but I probably won't return. read more

Love this place! The first time I came was for a Yelp event and ever since been craving their creations! My most recent order was from the seasonal menu a Christmas cookie latte with nonfat milk. Soooo good. Santa would most def approve! The staff are friendly and helpful. The location at Bailey park is convenient to me but on a busy day may be hard to find parking. It's worth it though! They also seem dog friendly. Always a plus! I did have a peppermint choc muffin and wasn't a fan but it seems after I bit into it I found out it was vegan. I bet it's delicious for my vegan friends. Goodness! How did I miss this place in all my visits to the City of Arts & Innovation? We absolutely adore Winston and look forward to our family visits here. So many amazing coffee & juice spots for the size of the city. It's fantastic! This coffee shop was honestly an afterthought on our way out of town yesterday. Thankfully it was convenient on our route to the freeway. I got lucky with some good, upfront parking. (I haven't known the city to be tough to park in; I've just been conditioned to feel extra lucky any time get a curbside spot in a city.) Upon entering I learned this was a vegan business - hubby and I couldn't be more stoked. The homemade gelato was so rich and delish! We also tried a peppermint muffin, which was so good! I love trying different flavors. So it was exciting to see they have variety, along with the usual suspects (croissants, danishes, etc). On to the main event - coffee! My oat milk iced latte was absolute perfection. My husband is an absolute coffee nut (aka coffee snob). He drinks it deathly strong. Coffee shops always have to pass my much less rigorous test, then the true test is having the quad-shot dude give it the thumbs up. I am pleased to share they got a wholehearted endorsement. If you like to pour lava into your mouth this is the place to go. I wish I could say that I love this place since I live right above it, but unfortunately I can't. I usually order lattes and they are so hot I can't drink them for 45 min which is inconvenient. I like the decor, the staff is nice, and the atmosphere is cool, but the coffee is just not good. I have been here maybe 30-40 times on week days in the last year, and out of those more than 10 times my order came out wrong. And it's not like I get a complicated order. I do like the fact that they offer vegan baked goods, but the quality could be a lot better. Oh, and also don't get the "ice cream" that they have haha. Great space with solid coffee and friendly staff. I especially appreciate how they're open later than most of the other independent coffee shops in town. The only miss in my books is their gelato (which I only learned by my third visit is vegan) lol . It's icy, not very creamy, and all in all just not my cup of tea. I stopped in DeBeen Espresso for a Yelp event and I couldn't have been more pleased! I was overwhelmed by the expansive menu, but with the beautiful, organized menu boards, along with the sweetest, most helpful baristas I finally decided I would just have to order two coffees as opposed to choosing one. The logical choice! I knew I had to try the Iron Man latte (thanks Jen T. for this recommendation!) I got mine iced, and it's peanut buttery deliciousness. The barista made my "to go" beverage with no ice, but ended up giving me the extra in cup to sip on - how kind! This second beverage was the Winter Wonderland - a lovely combination of spiced chai and white chocolate! The flavors married well, without overpowering the robust espresso. They offer about any milk option you can think of, along with all vegan baked goods, and plant based gelato! I got the spicy garlic cheese biscuit and it was a nice texture with lots of flavor! When I left, I asked for a drink carrier and they totally went the extra mile by reinforcing it with tape, and adding a little "enjoy :)" note on it! It's the little things! read more

First it was a visit, found a cute local shop and popped in. I always go for an americano, so I did. Immediately I was hooked it was the best coffee I've had. Then I found myself going there everyday, and everything about this local shop is amazing to the staff to their baked goodies (and yes they are vegan and better than regular muffins). If You like to sit back and relax this is the place to be, the ambiance is great and the drink choices are infinite. I decided to check out DeBeen based on their advertising at the High Point Rockers game the night before. Throughout the game it was displayed and even announced that we could get a free 12 oz drip coffee the following day if we showed our ticket from the game. The server was very reluctant to honor this offer, stating that she knew they'd done it in the past but nobody told her about it "this morning." To me, this is always a bad look. Don't make your customers plead their case for an offer you made. That's what got me in there and that posture made a first impression that I'm unlikely to forget. If someone is otherwise friendly and helpful, I can overlook something like this, but she was standoffish about other questions as well and left me feeling like I wasn't cool enough to be there. This is just not what I'm used to in the Triad. Another standout aspect of the experience was several flies buzzing around us as we ate. When you pay $8 for two remarkably dry vegan muffins, you just don't really want to sit there swatting flies away from them every 30 seconds. The drip coffee itself was very nice, which earned the extra star. Only white sugar and calorie-free sugar alternatives were offered. Nothing like Sugar in the Raw or Agave syrup. It was kind of cool that they were allowing patrons to bring their dogs in, but once it went from one table with a dog to two, it got a little chaotic in this small space. I love that it is locally owned and operated (by a female entrepreneur and single mom) and the owner is dedicated not only to the community but to the quality of every single item they offer. Really want these guys to succeed- very friendly staff and chill, ambient setting. The dry, vegan baked goods are a no-go, but more importantly- the coffee is hit and miss. We so much need flavor, strength, and consistency in our espresso drinks, yet infrequently delivered. Seems like we could have this in Winston, it is basic science. read more

The reviews are what brought me in. The atmosphere is quiet, calm, and esthetic so 1 star for that. WiFi, another star. Unfortunately the service wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. The cashier and even baristas seemed like we were bothering them by ordering. Also, I ordered the Banana Latte with Pat milk. Worst coffee ever! It tasted like oat milk with sugar. I've never had a coffee taste so bad. It's almost as if there was no coffee or espresso in the drink. It was so watered down. Disappointed to say the least. read more

My new favorite coffee shop in Winston. I love the atmosphere: the loft space, furnishing, architecture, local art, warm and laid-back vibe. The staff couldn't be nicer. Free wifi, and dogs are welcome. I enjoy the mochas here. I do admit that one of the vegan cookies I tried was on the dry side, but that's kind of the nature of vegan food; plus, makes it good for dipping in the coffee. I think it's great that they offer vegan foods. They make all their baked goods themselves, and also make their own almond milk. Plus, they are environmentally-conscious! They use bio-degradable cups and also let you bring your own cups from home (they will steam clean them first to avoid the spread of COVID). read more

Not a single bad thing to say! I go here once a day, every day, every week. The drinks are consistent, well priced, and extremely tasty. The vibe inside is exactly what you want from a local coffee shop. This has become my go to spot, both for coffee and the delicious baked goods they make in house (they're all vegan, but even as a non-vegan they taste so so good!). The baristas are second to none, and every single member of the team is exceptionally friendly and skilled at making drinks.
