In previous reviews, I've exalted the fact that Colonial Grind is open at night, because as a night shift worker I find many coffee shops closed in "my" morning. Add in the newest exciting twist: they were open on Thanksgiving Evening this year! I was thrilled to be able to grab a delicious Gingerbread Chai Latte on the way to work tonight. As usual, the coffee is great, the staff is great, and they are always smiling and helpful. Another win from Colonial! read more

This was our first time here and what a great discovery! My granddaughter wanted to go get Boba tea after her birthday dinner. We had been going to one in High Point but discovered this local one and gave it a shot! The esthetics of the location are so nice. A cozy coffee shop that has sufficient seating and some neat features! There is a coffee table the is a chalkboard on top where you can sit and doodle as you enjoy your drinks and snacks. We then discovered there's a whole wall of chalkboard! The girls loved being creative as Mom and Grandma relaxed. The employees are so sweet and gracious. I'd like to highlight Lorin in particular! She was so patient and accommodating with my 8 year old granddaughter who tends to interact on a high level. She engaged with her, even joined in on writing on the chalkboard with her! When Lorin discovered it was my other granddaughter's birthday, she said if she has known she would've perhaps bought her drink. (This is not to be expected btw anyone, of course. But the thoughtful and kind gesture was so appreciated!) She is a gem and deserves recognition for an amazing job of serving and engaging with the customers! Another bonus for me personally was that they had Christian music playing. It added to the sense of relaxation and gratitude of the day and new experience at Colonial Grind! I just moved to the area from Hampton Virginia. This area lacks places like Starbucks so my wife and I wanted to try Colonial grind to see if we could find a comfortable cafe. Upon entering, I was not greeted with a warm good morning as I saw others were. They may have been regulars but as a business, they should show all customers the same hospitality. I was also not approached the same as the four other people before me who were told to enjoy their day. My orders were called and placed on the counter with the employee quickly scurrying off. It may also help if the employees focused on one order at a time as I purchased 4 items and had to visit the counter three different times playing hopscotch with other customers. On top of that, the weird vibe I received from the other customers did not make me feel anymore welcome. I understand that the customers are who they are but my overall experience is the coffee is great but I will not be revisiting this establishment. read more

My friends and I have been here a few times and it's one of our favorite places in the area! The drinks are always really good, they have good snacks (including some gluten and dairy free options) and it's a great place to do work. If seating fills up they can open their event room for more seating. The place is super cute and also has a quiet atmosphere. The workers are super sweet and accommodating too. read more

Colonial Grind is the best coffee shop I've been to in NC. They have a huge selection of hot coffee, espresso, cold drinks, blended drinks and non coffee drinks, baked goods, ice cream and more. The quality and flavor is amazing, best coffee shop anywhere, customer service is excellent, Misty is the best and makes you feel at home in her beautiful shop. All the employees are friendly and attentive and have the gift of hospitality. My family and I love going there and will drive out of our way to go and not waste our time going to inferior establishments. If you haven't tried Colonial Grind please do, you will be very pleased you did and it will be your new coffee spot. read more

Sweets and Ice cream I haven't tried yet but their iced orange and vanilla latte with oat milk and vanilla cold foam is amazing! The apple Jack is great blended and the iced banana/dark chocolate mocha with peanut butter cold foam is great as well, less ice of course on all, their prices could be better but what they lack in price is made up for by the customer service of the talented/beautiful/bright young ladies that work there, the older guy is cool too, either way I recommend this place! This place is my new go to for coffee and boba. The atmosphere is great the family that works here is awesome And funny. Amanda can also make a killer mixed flavor smoothie. If your lucky enough to stop by when she's there.They really have a knack for what there doing here. Decided to stop by to try their coffee and smoothies. I got a Frappe and my boyfriend got a Pomegranate Blueberry Smoothie (both tasted delicious) . Ended up getting to go Frappes and a Hazelnut Macadamia nut latte (SUPER delicious). Great service, even better coffee and smoothies . Will definitely be coming back! I'm not the person to write reviews, but this situation was not true to its word. My boyfriend and I the Sunday of Mother's Day went to try out the newest coffee shop I've heard about. We arrive and ordered our coffee, the staff was very welcoming and I felt like this could be our new spot before we move. After we order we sit to wait on our coffee, do keep in mind it is busy and we both new that this was going to take longer than usual. Some time past and after the family behind us got there order I walked to the pick up spot and asked about our order- 2 drinks should've been made prior to the family of 4 that ordered after us. The young last stopped and said, "your still wait on your order?" "I was wondering why y'all haven't gotten your order yet" "that must have been the ticket we lost." then she walked away to speak with the owner "Misty" about the order. Keep in mind we (me and my boyfriend) sat in views point so that they could see us, also I made eye contact with the young man that checked us out a few times. Misty called me back to the register and I explained what happen, she printed our ticket again- and said that they will start making it, Misty continues and said next time y'alls order is on the house and tell them that Misty said so. As we were waiting Misty told me to write my name and number down for the Mother's Day raffle they were doing- I told her "I'm not a mom- she said that's okay, we all have moms and told me to write my name and number down. So I did" After getting our order we left happy. Sadly, this is where things change. My boyfriend and I decided to come back- after arriving we order and informed the lady at the register about what Misty said, this is when she called Misty to speak to us. misty asked what can she do for us and I explained the situation, this is when misty chuckles and states that Mother's Day was busy and that waiting 15-20 mins for coffee isn't that bad, you probably wait that long at Starbucks. I informed her that this is what she said and that we were only coming back due to her kind offer. Misty then states that, "if we gave away free drinks all the time we wouldn't stay in business." Sadly, this is where my respect for the business was lost. I love small businesses, small coffee shops and actually drink out of the way to try new ones every so often- Misty's comment was uncalled for and untrue. You do not kindly offer a costumer such privilege and then when they come back again to give their business costumers be insulted. Misty informed the young girl to make our drinks- after waiting 10 mins for our coffee I walked to the pick up window. As I walked away I realized that they made my coffee wrong. (I ordered the "Trinity" Iced with cold foam and what they made was a vanilla iced latte. At that moment I felt insulted and mistrusted by their business. I've worked in costumer services, fast food industry and now the healthcare business and I am fully aware that in special occasions/holidays there will be a longer wait time than normal. I have always went out of my way to support local coffee shops/business but unfortunately Misty lost this privilege for their business. read more
