Im a cookie person and tried their famous chocolate chip w/ walnuts and OMG it was wonderful!!

My cookie craving led me here. Upon arriving, my sight went straight to the massive cookies that were inside the display case; they're huge!! Lol. Was a little overwhelmed with all of the flavors at first, but ended up getting the white choco cranberry, Oreo choco chip, and peanut butter choco chip. 3 for $5; sweet deal considering how big these cookies are. For the white choco cranberry and Oreo choco chip cookies, they were very hard and were a bit messy to eat as each bite made a bunch of crumbs; they may have been in the oven for a tad too long?? The peanut butter choco chip was a real winner though; chewy at the center, crispy on the edge, peanut buttery and chocolatey goodness. Definitely get that one if you stop by here. Overall, the cookies were a hit/miss for me. The staff was friendly and the place is small and cozy though; I went on a Sunday afternoon and there were locals dining in for brunch (they serve other food items here too). Parking was easy for me as some of the stores who share the tiny parking lot were closed at the time; parking might be difficult during the weekday.

We had lunch in IB today following a doctor appointment. I checked the website for Deb's Cookie Jar a few days ago and was pleased to see they would open at 1:00pm as that would be a perfect time to go after lunch. We arrived at Deb's a few minutes after 1:30 and even though the "open" sign wasn't on, I got out of the car and went to the door. Locked. As I was getting back into the car, the shop door opened and a man propped it open, yay! I went in and the man was handing something to a customer (apparently the cookie shop shares the space with a printing business). He glanced at me and I asked about cookies (the shelves were empty). He told me "she" would probably be there at 2:00. I get that some small businesses run them a bit more casually than others but it's just not cool to post hours on their door and online and then not adhere to them. This isn't the first time this has happened...one time I drove from Chula Vista specifically to go here. The others times, I was in IB for other reasons so it wasn't a big deal. If nothing else, why not show your hours as (eg) "1:00ish or 1:00or so." ? Anyway, I officially give up and the one star rating isn't for the cookies, which I've wanted to try for years, but instead is for the unprofessional way this business is run.

I love this place. Deb always makes me feel welcome and takes the time to come out and greet me, no matter how busy she may be. This little family bakery makes the locals feel right at home, and the un-locals feel like they're locals! The cookies are HUGE. I usually get the regular chocolate chip, but today I went for the Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip, and the Blueberry White Chocolate Chip. Oh-My- Gah freakin good. Paired with the hot coffee & creamer, I'm in heaven. As usual, the cookies are fresh, and bursting with flavor- the butter... the blueberries, the dark chocolate, salted caramel ...with the slightly crisp outer cookie, then you bite into the soft middle. Just the right mixture of taste and textures to keep you coming back for more! Yes, I ate both kinds at the same time. I couldn't restrain myself. I originally came for a breakfast bagel this morning. I had the scrambled eggs, bacon, and pepper jack. Very good, and good size portions! Stop in here for your next sugar fix, or breakfast, you will not be disappointed.

Deb is quite possibly the nicest person I've met since moving here to California. I found her shop by accident while driving by one day on the way home. It's in an out of the way place. It's a small unassuming shop. The cookies are absolutely delicious and if you go in and you're wondering which one to try make sure that no matter what you try the one called the dark side. It's absolutely delicious and chocolatey without being too sweet. But even better than the cookies are her cupcakes. I haven't had cake this good in years. It doesn't have that heavy texture that a lot of homemade cakes have and her buttercream is light and I could literally just eat a bowl full of it. She's pretty much the best thing about Imperial Beach so far.

Thank goodness for yelp! I came down to Imperial Beach to visit my parents in their new home and we were looking for food and the search results came up with this place and the high rating and the word "cookie" easily got me interested in checking it out. I was originally looking for a sushi or taco place but wanted to grab cookies before the place closed. After getting a glimpse and a whiff of the cookies and the rest of the menu I wound up staying. I saw the Deb's Massive Monte Cristo and thought "challenge accepted"! Ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, cream cheese, jelly, then more cheese inside two pieces of French toast :: drools :: amazing! I wound up splitting it to make room for the cookies which were also very fresh and delicious they sent well with the iced coffee. Service was fast and friendly and I could tell there were several people that were regulars there. I'll definitely be going back to try some other menu items and cookies!

Such a cute store with a very friendly environment! MUST TRY the almond chocolate chip coconut cookie (which got featured in San Diego's magazine in November 2018) and the white chocolate cranberry!! I'm not a big fan of coconut and cranberry but the cookies was amazing! I also tried the white chocolate butterfinger cookie which is also interesting to try. They gave my friend and I free samples which was nice! We got a dozen and the good sir that helped us gave us two free cookies (: I really admire this business and excited to come back to try the different flavors of cookies.

I had been hearing about this place for a while. FINALLY stopped in and was so happy I did. The place was very cute & quaint, the owners were very friendly and professional. The bisquits and gravy were phenomenal, hands down the best I've had. The gravy was on point and the biscuits were fresh and fluffy! Oh and the cookies are ridiculously good. Amazing cookies and amazing people!! Couldn't wait to go in and try the cookies! Went in with my husband and 15 month old son and it felt like home. We were greeted like family and they even offered my son a cookie while we picked out our dozen. "The dark side" cookies are my favorite, if you're a chocoholic like I am, I would highly recommend them. Can't wait to go back! read more

Have been coming here for cookies that are as good as it gets for some time. Decided to check out breakfast, so wife and I came in this morning and had some biscuits and gravy. WOW! Best we have ever had. By far. Fresh, flaky biscuits, excellent gravy with some sausage bits and one side for $5. Tell me you can beat that. No way. Good service, friendly people and great food. What more do you want? Gonna be comin' back alot. They also have lunch and did I mention ccokies? Yeah, many flavors and the best ever. fresh all the time. read more

I went in here first week of October 2018 to buy a couple of coffees and noticed that they allow certain customers to enter kitchen area to prepare their own coffee/meals. I am fairly certain this is illegal and unsanitary. I lined up with everyone else to order coffee - when my turn rolled around, I was told to wait a while. I said that was no problem and proceeded to wait, as I could see she was quite busy, despite the customer she let go in the back to get his own stuff. THEN, I was told that someone had been in line ahead of me (in addition to the 4 people I had already waited behind for the last 15 minutes). "Yes, his wife is standing behind you!" I was told by the woman who I assume to be the owner/proprietor. I was thoroughly confused. Even the lady behind me said this wasn't the case and told me to go ahead. If they were "ahead" of me, why was she behind me? So this special customer decided to wait at his table instead of in line like everyone else? But also sent his wife to wait in line? But somehow she is in line ahead of me, but also behind me? Final word - I live just a block away and am a regular at El Amigo (next door to Deb's) and always wanted to give Deb's a try. The location alone could have made me a regular. However, the complete disregard for sanitation as well as the bizarre favoritism for certain customers and complete, insulting disregard for others (me) made my decision for me. Was super excited to try a cookie shop in IB. Cute spot but it was too hot and stuffy to eat inside and no seating was available outside so we had to stick it out and eat our food inside while breaking a light sweat. Not of any fault of the owners, it is what it is, an old hole in the wall type building so i wasnt expecting anything special. The cookies are definitely pretty good the food was basic / average...same with the coffee. Eclectic mom and pop vibe. Don't think I'll make a special trip to return however if ever Im stuck in that vicinity I might pop in for a cookie. read more

I do recommend that they cove the fronts of the shelves with plastic sheets to discourage flies. They also offer warm bolillos rellenos with a variety of savory eats, not to mention drip coffee as well. The baker is small inside, so it can get a little challenging on busy mornings.

They've done a great job curating a clean, open, and inviting atmosphere. Also happy to see a Foozball table. Service was friendly and surprisingly fast. They are half service (order and pay up front) but even still I don't know how someone can cook such an amazing pie that fast. Also a huge bonus for me is being able to watch them make your Pie (pizza oven is front facing). We ordered the Ye Haw (I highly recommend) and it was cooked to perfection. Unfortunately I don't live in the area, but anytime I am Manginis Pizza is on my shortlist. If you live in the area, stop what you're doing at this very second and go order a couple pies from this place, you won't regret it.

They also have a young man who plays jazz piano there every Sunday, so the ambiance is pretty awesome along with the nice weather. Sometimes it can get windy so bring a sweater, but otherwise, it's usually a really nice day to hang out with friends and family. I also had a matcha ginger thyme latte with oat milk which was just tasty since ginger is a rare flavor in coffee drinks. I loved it, and it was so good that I took an extra one home. The service is amazing, and on busy days you may have to wait a bit, but it's worth it. If you have any questions about a dish, don't hesitate to ask!

He was the only one I knew of in San Diego doing maple bars as eclairs -I'm so sad that I haven't been able to find that anywhere else. Some honorable mentions were the donuts holes, the old fashions, and the crullers. The service was always polite, warm, and familial -this guy knew and remembered his customers, even if not by name. The reason I found out he sold it and retired was because he saw and recognized me walking the pier in IB :D He and his wife were always welcoming, like you were a family member visiting for a snack and a good chat. The place has generous seating available, always clean and never dirty or messy, and is in a prime business lot at the intersection of IB Blvd/Coronado Ave and 13th Street. I've only been back once since the place was sold and I wasn't really into the flavors offered at that time, plus they were no longer offering the maple eclairs. Not sure if they are now, but I'm sure their other donuts are good since they've got good reviews and were in the Reader last year. Go check them out!

I thought this place was closed because I passed by it recently and didn't see it. I must've mistaken the location then, but I'm so glad it is still open according to Yelp! I used to come here about 5 years ago when I would get a coupon in the mail for a free cookie. I would get a free cookie and I would buy another for my mum. The staff has always been friendly and their cookies are always on point. If I'm ever in the area and have time to kill, I'd definitely stop by here. read more

Well this is a refreshing change from just coffee and doughnuts. The cookies are simply amazing, and the little shop is very quint and welcoming. I believe personality is everything , especially in running a business, it can make or break you...like seriously , a bright smile and welcoming attitude is GREAT!!!!! Even at 6:00 in the morning.... This is as good as it gets - delicious food and fantastic cookies! We had breakfast (egg sandwich and french toast and it was so great, but we met several people (locals) who told us to come back for the biscuits and gravy (which we did and it's to die for - best I've ever had!) The cookies here are decent (not the best) the one star is for the owners. I saw that the owners put a reviewer on blast via Facebook, simply because he left a 1 star review. I wont step foot in here ever again, the way they attacked this mans wife and the things that were said, they (Deb) should be embarrassed read more
