Im a cookie person and tried their famous chocolate chip w/ walnuts and OMG it was wonderful!!

My cookie craving led me here. Upon arriving, my sight went straight to the massive cookies that were inside the display case; they're huge!! Lol. Was a little overwhelmed with all of the flavors at first, but ended up getting the white choco cranberry, Oreo choco chip, and peanut butter choco chip. 3 for $5; sweet deal considering how big these cookies are. For the white choco cranberry and Oreo choco chip cookies, they were very hard and were a bit messy to eat as each bite made a bunch of crumbs; they may have been in the oven for a tad too long?? The peanut butter choco chip was a real winner though; chewy at the center, crispy on the edge, peanut buttery and chocolatey goodness. Definitely get that one if you stop by here. Overall, the cookies were a hit/miss for me. The staff was friendly and the place is small and cozy though; I went on a Sunday afternoon and there were locals dining in for brunch (they serve other food items here too). Parking was easy for me as some of the stores who share the tiny parking lot were closed at the time; parking might be difficult during the weekday.

We had lunch in IB today following a doctor appointment. I checked the website for Deb's Cookie Jar a few days ago and was pleased to see they would open at 1:00pm as that would be a perfect time to go after lunch. We arrived at Deb's a few minutes after 1:30 and even though the "open" sign wasn't on, I got out of the car and went to the door. Locked. As I was getting back into the car, the shop door opened and a man propped it open, yay! I went in and the man was handing something to a customer (apparently the cookie shop shares the space with a printing business). He glanced at me and I asked about cookies (the shelves were empty). He told me "she" would probably be there at 2:00. I get that some small businesses run them a bit more casually than others but it's just not cool to post hours on their door and online and then not adhere to them. This isn't the first time this has happened...one time I drove from Chula Vista specifically to go here. The others times, I was in IB for other reasons so it wasn't a big deal. If nothing else, why not show your hours as (eg) "1:00ish or 1:00or so." ? Anyway, I officially give up and the one star rating isn't for the cookies, which I've wanted to try for years, but instead is for the unprofessional way this business is run.

I love this place. Deb always makes me feel welcome and takes the time to come out and greet me, no matter how busy she may be. This little family bakery makes the locals feel right at home, and the un-locals feel like they're locals! The cookies are HUGE. I usually get the regular chocolate chip, but today I went for the Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip, and the Blueberry White Chocolate Chip. Oh-My- Gah freakin good. Paired with the hot coffee & creamer, I'm in heaven. As usual, the cookies are fresh, and bursting with flavor- the butter... the blueberries, the dark chocolate, salted caramel ...with the slightly crisp outer cookie, then you bite into the soft middle. Just the right mixture of taste and textures to keep you coming back for more! Yes, I ate both kinds at the same time. I couldn't restrain myself. I originally came for a breakfast bagel this morning. I had the scrambled eggs, bacon, and pepper jack. Very good, and good size portions! Stop in here for your next sugar fix, or breakfast, you will not be disappointed.

Deb is quite possibly the nicest person I've met since moving here to California. I found her shop by accident while driving by one day on the way home. It's in an out of the way place. It's a small unassuming shop. The cookies are absolutely delicious and if you go in and you're wondering which one to try make sure that no matter what you try the one called the dark side. It's absolutely delicious and chocolatey without being too sweet. But even better than the cookies are her cupcakes. I haven't had cake this good in years. It doesn't have that heavy texture that a lot of homemade cakes have and her buttercream is light and I could literally just eat a bowl full of it. She's pretty much the best thing about Imperial Beach so far.

Thank goodness for yelp! I came down to Imperial Beach to visit my parents in their new home and we were looking for food and the search results came up with this place and the high rating and the word "cookie" easily got me interested in checking it out. I was originally looking for a sushi or taco place but wanted to grab cookies before the place closed. After getting a glimpse and a whiff of the cookies and the rest of the menu I wound up staying. I saw the Deb's Massive Monte Cristo and thought "challenge accepted"! Ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, cream cheese, jelly, then more cheese inside two pieces of French toast :: drools :: amazing! I wound up splitting it to make room for the cookies which were also very fresh and delicious they sent well with the iced coffee. Service was fast and friendly and I could tell there were several people that were regulars there. I'll definitely be going back to try some other menu items and cookies!

Such a cute store with a very friendly environment! MUST TRY the almond chocolate chip coconut cookie (which got featured in San Diego's magazine in November 2018) and the white chocolate cranberry!! I'm not a big fan of coconut and cranberry but the cookies was amazing! I also tried the white chocolate butterfinger cookie which is also interesting to try. They gave my friend and I free samples which was nice! We got a dozen and the good sir that helped us gave us two free cookies (: I really admire this business and excited to come back to try the different flavors of cookies.

I haven't been to Debs in a few months. With that said, As soon as you walk into this place you can feel the genuine warmth of how wonderful the owners are. The food is outstanding. I usually get the B.Y.O sandwich which is very filling. The cookie's are on point and you can't go wrong with any of them. I highly recommend coming here and enjoying the food and atmosphere. read more

A (not really that hidden) gem in IB right off Palm Ave. We love the staff... SWEETEST EVER!!!! And the pancakes, French toast, and sausage are our all time favorites!! Try the Darigold milk, you'll wonder why everyone isn't selling it. Also, if you visit close to closing they'll often give or sell you the rest of the cookies for super cheap! Enjoy! read more

Based on reviews I really wanted to enjoy this place and make it my go to. Unfortunately the cookies were not all that great Chocolate chip and the Oreo chocolate chip had barley any chips or flavor in it. The cookie just crumbled because it was super dry and hard. The peanut butter cookie was a little better Texture wise just wish the flavor was a bit stronger. Although the Cookies were a flop the customer service was great! read more

I always come here for my iced coffee. It so delicious :) I get the cookies sometimes too and you can't go wrong with any of them. They are all so amazingly delicious!! And I've recently had their jalapeño bagel with cream cheese, sooooo gooood!! You'll always be satisfied with whatever you order here. Besides that, the vibe is super chill and everyone is really nice. I love it here :) read more

Perfect little mom and pop shop! The smell emanating from the back brought you back to your grandmas home made baking. This was my first time ordering breakfast (to go). I ordered the B.Y.O. breakfast sandwich-it was great. The cookies were outstanding!!! I ordered a 6 pack and enjoyed them with my family. I came in around 8:20 am the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. I hope this place continues to thrive here in IB. My only small complaint would be the location and eating area are rather small if they were to have a lot of customers. Hoping with their success an expansion or relocation here in IB is a possibility. read more

I happen to know a thing or two about cookies. Not only do I love to eat them (who doesn't), I also love to bake them. Last year I baked 1dozen-3dozen/day for a couple months... tweaking and adjusting my ccc (chocolate chip cookie) and sugar cookie recipes. But then it started to warm up, and I couldn't spend another day in the kitchen baking. Now that I've found debs, I really don't have to. Her cookies are delicious. She has perfected the chewy/crunchy/soft textures in all her cookies. The cookies come in a variety tasty combinations- such as salted Carmel CC, and CC with almonds and coconut. They also have the classics like oatmeal raisin and snickerdoodle. Also worth noting, the cookies are huge...Easily meal replacement or snack on all day type treat. Plus, Deb and her boys have such a wonderfully sweet and friendly nature. If you have not tried debs, I would absolutely recommend it. read more

Lowery K, if you had such a bad experience 6 days ago? Why come back and update? Why just NOT return? This is an honest run family business. With people who make cookies and awesome food from the heart. Why come back if you or your girlfriend had an awful experience 6 days ago? Why come back? Your review is the only negative one. Stop. Debs Cookie Jar doesn't need that negative energy that is totally false anyway. False. Go somewhere else. Go to Albertons or Vons or wherever to get cookies or breakfast and have to wait 5 minutes, or 15 minutes. McDonalds will give you cookies or a breakfast sandwich in 5 minutes too. Debs Cookie Jar Is not the same. Many, many people will testify to that. Everything they do is from love. Whatever you do or where you go won't compare to this place. This shop is from the heart. Have a good night because Karma hurts. What you said in your review is not right, not even close. read more

After all the negative postings a few months back, I needed to get I. There and support DEB's COOKIEJAR! They are amazing people. Amazing cookies. So much so, I asked Deb if she wouldn't mind taking my mother's cookie recipe for Swedish cookies, Pepparkakors, (gingersnap type), for her memorial service. Before I was out the door, she had it goggled up, looking it over... and was very excited with taking the project on! A few days later, I was back with my mother's recipe. And a few days after that, Deb had a sample batch for me to try. With the suggestions of family and friends that knew my mother's recipe, she was able to fine tune the final outcome for the service. They were a hit! Thank you Deb for helping me honor my mother's legacy. One of many, were her cookies! Deb cared very much about the final outcome and put her time efforts and research into this special day for my siblings and must. Grateful to this woman and this family! read more

This place amazing the food is amazing and the brownies are awesome im not a big fan of cookies but they were really good here too.I got the french toast with bacon and my mom and my sister got the pancakes and the breakfast sandwich and I tried both of their dishes and it was great. Bought a dozen trying a Lil bit of the variety all of the cookies were really good.. the dark side cookie broke while eating but the taste made up for it... my favorites are the salted chocolate chip.... I'm Def going to return for when I want my cookie fix. I'll try the ice cream sandwich next time! They serve breakfast too!!! read more

1st time we were there, there were 3 other customers in the place. Took 1/2 hr to get our breakfast while Listening to the people Argue in the kitchen. Just went a second time, won't be back a third. Sounds like from reviews, the cookies are the only thing keeping them in business. Today, we stood at the counter to order. We were ignored by 2 employees that were agitated because 1 lost her keys and the other was simply ignoring us. A 3rd employee from the back said, you need to take their order. Then a man came out from the back, started giving the same woman who lost her keys more agitation, as she voiced her frustration right in front of all of us. I asked if they had hash browns, she said Yes. So I ordered hash browns with my breakfast. Country potatoes were served with my food. Asking for hash browns I was given a reply of, "Oh Well I consider those hash browns." . Wow. One would think the one cooking, knows the difference. So after I told them I didn't care for the potatoes because of the seasoning put on them. We got nothing But attitude again. Said they were going to reimburse me, which did not happen. My friend said she would just eat the potatoes, so maybe they thought there error, was ok. Then my friend asked for a to go box, and same rude woman, LITERALLY rolled her eyes for her asking for a to go box. Attitude adjustments needed badly here. The energy was so negative in there, none of them seem to get along. Very Disappointing. read more

Wanted to let folks know what a great experience I had with Deb's Cookie Jar. I was traveling and needed a last minute Father's Day gift for my 84 year-old dad, who lives in Imperial Beach and has a real sweet tooth. I placed an order THIS MORNING for the dozen fresh-baked cookies. Not only did they make the delicious cookies in a timely way (they arrived warm!) and sent them in a be-ribboned box, they wrote a note from me and my kids on top at my request. My parents are over the moon, and raving about the cookies as I write this. They can not stop talking about how incredible they are and what a terrific surprise it was to get the delivery. So nice when a local, non-chain business can be relied upon for this level of service. Shout out to Grubhub as well for a prompt, efficient delivery. Great job Deb's Cookie Jar, thank you! read more

I have driven by this place for almost two years and never really had a reason to stop in. I needed some dessert for a work lunch and boy am I glad I decided to go here. It was sort of last minute to order three dozen cookies for the next morning but they made it happen! And they were delicious and packaged really well. I will def return here! I was also delighted to see they have savory items on the menu, def going to stop here for a breakfast soon! Thanks again! read more

Me & My daughters love going to Deb's for Breakfast and Brunch. Deb and her Team are always so friendly. They make you feel like family. We enjoy everything they serve. The Breakfast dishes are all so delicious and the cookies just melt in your mouth. Love this place! read more

This is a true small town Mom n Pop shop. The owners are very involved in the community and active in it's dealings. You can come here and always feel welcomed and greeted with a smile and be called by your first name. The food is great and the cookies to die for. Stop by sometime you'll be glad you did! read more

While driving down to the beach I happened to fall upon this shop. I have an absolute sweet tooth and seen the word "cookies" so it was a done deal and I know we absolutely had to stop! We walked in and were immediately warmly welcomed. The customer service was amazing as well as the cookies. They are the best cookies I've ever had and that's saying a lot because I've tried a lot of cookies lol! They are fresh and melt in your mouth. The perfect soft cookies. I'm from the Bay Area and plan on stopping whenever I'm in the area visiting. I was also informed that they are able to ship which is something I definitely will consider doing. I can't say enough about this shop and it's cookies, they are simply delicious! read more

The churros were being fried fresh for my hungry guests to consume. Now I've had my fair share of churros and I gotta say, these were the best I've ever had. Hot, fresh and not keto friendly. Some honorable mentions were the donuts holes, the old fashions, and the crullers. The service was always polite, warm, and familial -this guy knew and remembered his customers, even if not by name. The reason I found out he sold it and retired was because he saw and recognized me walking the pier in IB :D He and his wife were always welcoming, like you were a family member visiting for a snack and a good chat. The place has generous seating available, always clean and never dirty or messy, and is in a prime business lot at the intersection of IB Blvd/Coronado Ave and 13th Street. I've only been back once since the place was sold and I wasn't really into the flavors offered at that time, plus they were no longer offering the maple eclairs. Not sure if they are now, but I'm sure their other donuts are good since they've got good reviews and were in the Reader last year. Go check them out!

I thought this place was closed because I passed by it recently and didn't see it. I must've mistaken the location then, but I'm so glad it is still open according to Yelp! I used to come here about 5 years ago when I would get a coupon in the mail for a free cookie. I would get a free cookie and I would buy another for my mum. The staff has always been friendly and their cookies are always on point. If I'm ever in the area and have time to kill, I'd definitely stop by here. read more

Well this is a refreshing change from just coffee and doughnuts. The cookies are simply amazing, and the little shop is very quint and welcoming. We had breakfast (egg sandwich and french toast and it was so great, but we met several people (locals) who told us to come back for the biscuits and gravy (which we did and it's to die for - best I've ever had!)
