Quality and value was not there. I had the Chicken and Cheese quesadilla and it cost $14.52. You don't get to dress the quesadilla like the other entrees. The quesadilla had portions that had no chicken at all present. The tortilla was not cooked with any char on it... just super duper light. I still preferred this to other choices in the airport. Airport food is airport food - it's always slightly overpriced and a little underwhelming. If I have time, I always opt to order something at one of the airport establishments vs. a pre-made sandwich from the convenience store because it's a tiny bit better. Decolores is likeeeeeeee a Chipotle. But in an airport. You choose the form of Mexican entree you would like to construct with the worker. For me, I chose to have a burrito form of all the fixings - chicken, beans, rice, lettuce etc etc. To be honest, everything was incredibly bland. I had to douse it in hot sauce and even then, I didn't feel satisfied. BUT, burritos are portable, non-smelly, and tastes great even when cold. If you're just looking for a quick bite (for later) on the plane, getting a burrito at Decolores isn't a terrible idea. read more

Awesome new spot we found in Midway airport! We normally don't fly out of the A terminal so I'm not sure actually how new it is but for us, it's new! They had a great selection to choose from. We ordered burritos but they also had burrito bowls, tacos, quesadillas and more. The ordering format was very similar to Chipotle I thought and the line went really quick. The employees had big smiles and were happy to serve us which is think is rare to find at airports! I got the chipotle chicken in my burrito and I added pico for an extra $1.50 which seemed a little pricey but I needed it. The burrito was also a huge and they really packed it with meat and you could really taste the chipotle. I also loved the pico de Gallo so to me the extra cost was worth it! The burrito was $12.99 and because of the size I'd say it was worth it also. I was bummed we didn't get to try out their bar because it was adorable and they had so many drink and liquor options. We were at Midway airport. We were in between flights. We needed some sustenance. I saw there was a burrito place, with a breakfast burrito option available at all times of the day. Lunch was decided. The burrito was good enough. It was filling and tasted alright. But according to the menu, the burrito was *supposed* to have cheese on it and come with chips and salsa. It did not. Without that side of chips and salsa...the small burrito I'm not sure was worth the price, especially when you don't get what you expected based on the description of the item you ordered. In all, not the best and not the worst. I might return if I found myself at Midway again, and I might not. read more

This might be that very rare find, a restaurant at Midway airport that is not obviously worse than its predecessor (and maybe even a tad better?). I don't mean to get carried away here. The main advantage of Decolores over the previous burrito joint that held this spot is that the previous one was inexplicably unable to wrap burritos in foil or in any other way that let them hold together while you schlepped them through the airport and onto a plane. (I think they came in an awkward, inexplicably non-waterproof clamshell.) Decolores wraps their burritos in foil. Yay. As for the burrito itself, it was fine. Mixing bland pork with diced pineapple and no sauce or salsa is not really a good way to make a "cochinita pibil burrito," which is what mine allegedly was, but on the whole it was edible and filling, except for a slightly bitter aftertaste. I know this sounds like an episode of The Good Place, but this really does make Decolores one of the best restaurants since the Curse of Midway Airport, and I will almost certainly in back. But I can't in good conscience give it more than three stars. read more

I ordered the cowboy burrito without bacon and it was edible at best. I had to eat it from a bowl because the burrito builder didn't know how to properly fold it. Anyway, the chicken, while juicy, lacked any discernible Mexican spices- bland. Next, the greens had carrots and purple cabbage- a first in my years of burrito experiences. Airport businesses typically have low ratings on Yelp, so I ignored the low score and went ahead and ordered food from here. It was literally the worst burrito I have had since...as far as I can remember. The combination of bland ingredients create a dry, weird tasting wrap that does NOT satisfy you at all. For example, instead of fresh lettuce, they reuse the salad spring mix. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it really clashed with the other items they tried adding to the burrito. I tried drowning it in salsa to improve the taste, but in the end, I couldn't bring myself to finish it. If you tried to explain a burrito to someone that had never seen or tasted one, and they tried to put one together based on your vague description, you would end up with one of these. read more

I only had a few minutes before boarding my Southwest flight, and had a good dining experience. I ordered their three taco special, received steak tacos with tasty complimentary items. Everything was fresh, the customer service was really good, and I liked the chips and salsa that came along with the meal. Their salsa and guacamole was delicious. Good pricing. Decolores is in the Central Market at the intersection of Concourses A and B. It's in sort of an upscale food court in the middle of the terminal. Even if the line is long, the service is really fast and the food is good. I ordered a Cowboy Burrito, which contains marinated chicken, crispy bacon, rice, black beans, a green spring mix and guacamole. There are additional meats and vegetables that can be added to the burrito to acquire a slightly different flavor. The burrito comes with a spicy red sauce that meshes well with it. Though, the cost is a bit pricy for a burrito, it is in line with the overpriced cost of airport food. Usually, I always cut the burrito (any burrito that I buy) in half to make at least two meals from it. The burrito looked good while it was being prepared and it tasted good afterward. The staff worked deligently to get the customers through the line as quickly as possible. Patrons of this joint can sit in the food court dining area and listen to music of the season (if it's around Christmas time) that is played by a live band. I had such a pleasant experience that I will look for this place whenever I fly through midway airport. read more

I stopped by here earlier today for dinner while on a layover at MDW. DeColores Burrito Joint is located in the center core in-between the two concourses. It's the type of place where you walk up, place your order and then pay before finding a seat in the common area. As such there's not much to say about the place other than they had finished making my burrito whenever there were still 4 people in front me and so it sat around a bit before I paid for it and received it. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the Cohinita Pibil and fresh pineapple. The menu describes it as pibil (slow roasted pork), pineapple, pickled red onion, rice, beans, cheese, spring mix and avocado. Whenever I first opened it up I was a little disappointed that it was completely wet on the outside (maybe from the pineapple?). Enough so that the foil wrap actually stuck to it in spots. As such, I went the untraditional route and attempted to eat my burrito with a fork and knife. When you combine that with the wet wrapper, I cut through to the table a few times. The taste of the burrito was well, unspectacular. It's shame too as I generally really enjoy most of the ingredients that were in the burrito. However those ingredients seemed to have little taste here. Out of everything i think it was the pickled onions which I could taste and enjoy the most. They added a nice acidity to the dish for sure. The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't come back here again in the future. While their burritos certainly sound good on the menu, mine failed to deliver in taste. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars, but only because the food actually tasted pretty darn good for airport food. The competency of the workers I encountered is worthy of only 1 Star. I walked up to the counter (note: the staff were arguing amongst themselves in a very unprofessional manner) and told the lady that I wanted the steak quesadilla. She looked at me and said do you want rice and beans in your burrito? I said no, I ordered the quesadilla. She said no, you said burrito. I told her no, actually I didn't. She was visibly irritated which is completely out of line! I was annoyed by this for a couple of reasons 1) I looked at the menu prior to getting in line and had decided on the steak quesadilla because they had black beans. I don't like black beans. Plus I was waiting to have a burrito at home from my favorite Roberto's. 2) It's never ok to argue with a customer. She's lucky I'm not her boss or she'd be out of a job. Overall demeanor of the employees behind the counter was pretty poor. I understand they serve food at an airport, but it's not my fault. My boyfriend ordered a chicken quesadilla. The cook started making it, then walked away and went to the back. It came time to pay and his food wasn't ready. It was like they forgot about his order. It was really strange and off putting. I spoke up and asked where his food was. They quickly made it. Despite all the BS with the incompetent staff, my steak quesadilla was really good. The chicken quesadilla was even better. Tip: DeColores does NOT put napkins and utensils in your bag, nor do the employees ask, or even point out where these essential items are. Thus, it's easy to be in a rush board your plane, then discover your options are (a) go hungry; or (b) eat a burrito bowl with your bare hands and no napkins, while trying to wrangle a restless lap child in a cramped coach seat. All hypothetically, of course... Many airlines don't even have plastic utensils onboard now (again, not thinking of any actual case, eheheh), so you are S.O.L. The food is just OK; less flavorful than Chipotle, let alone an authentic "joint". This place should know their audience, and take the two seconds to throw two cents worth of silverware and napkins into your take-out bag. read more

The salad I ordered was great. It I called Ensalada Fresca with Primavera mixed greens, cucumbers, strawberries, and a mix of nuts. The shredded Chipotle chicken was extra but worth the cost. The dressing, a basil viniagrette, had me skeptical at first but was delicious on the salad. The lady preparing the freshly made-to-order items was super fast. While Decolores Burrito Joint isn't amazing, I was pretty impressed for airport food. The line: Long. This was both a good and a bad thing. Long lines suck, but I figured it had to be good if that many people wanted it. Service: Okay. I like that they give you fair portions of what you order - as it should be since you're paying ~$11 for a burrito. The Food: The rice was whatever, but the chicken was tender and not dry. As I mentioned before, they gave fairly generous portions of the toppers I added to my Cowboy Burrito. The spring mix was fresh and guac wasn't extra for once (amen). Price: Expensive, but at least I felt full after eating. The Cowboy Burrito is ~$11, but actually $13.37 after tax. A short and stubby breakfast burrito, it kind'a looked like me. The food at this airport semi-version of a Chipotle was neither good nor bad. It was somewhat standard airport fare .... lukewarm and overpriced, just enough to deal with pre-flight morning hunger but not enough to feel satisfying from a quality perspective. I tried the steak and egg burrito, nothing bad but all items were barely lukewarm from sitting preprocessed in the open chipotle-style prep area. The temp makes me wonder if the health department came by to check whether they'd be cited for the food not being hot enough. It's fine for what it is and I feel like one can't be too pickey with food options at this terminal. Typically there is no one in line so it's a convenient option. It's airport Mexican food, so you know it's going to suck. The menu is limited, and the food is expensive. The quality is barely above what you'd get at one of those little all-night taquerias--the kind that cater to drunk college kids. But you're a captive audience, so try to enjoy it and hope it doesn't come back to haunt you on your flight. read more

I know that when you're stuck in the airport and want some food options that you gotta pay extra for some quality, but hopefully with the up charge you can get something good. Not so much here.... Burritos will set you back $12-$13, chips and salsa are an additional $5. God forbid you go for the guacamole or corn on the cob at $7 apiece. By the time you're done ordering you could be paying $20 for a basic burrito with chips. The burrito was pretty standard filled with chicken, rice, beans and avocado. First time in Midway since all the new restaurants arrived. While I'll miss PotBelly as my quick go-to, there are several new options. I wanted to do something quick and semi-healthy for lunch. With burrito joints, this can be accomplished to a degree. First off, it's not quick. It's a little combination of the staff and also the people not knowing how a counter service burrito place works. The menu makes it seem static as all the items are pre-set. For example, the chicken burrito has XYZ to it. However, you can fully customize with anything. So, don't feel like you have to order the Cowboy Burrito and have it made as the menu reads. Once you get to place your order, it's fairly similar to your ordinary burrito joint. However, prices are a little higher and options are much more limited. I got a chicken bowl with beans, spring mix, pickled onions, avacado (while is actually full on guac), and salsa. Yes, they have cheese, rice, and crema, but I was trying to be semi-healthy. The bowl was just meh. I wish they had pico, veggies, and maybe a choice of salsas. The service kind of sucked. The lady behind me asked what spring mix was. I guess all in all, it's exactly what you'd expect from an airport. Which is a shame that we have to say that, as other airports have stepped up their game in recent years. Maybe next time I'll try Cafe L'appetito or something else. Carry on! read more

The food and drinks were on point. But you have to pay extra for weird things--like salsa and pico de gallo, but not cheese. I shared an al pastor burrito bowl, my dad had chicken and beef tacos--both were quite tasty, as was the guac. They also DESPERATELY need better signage as to their operation method. To go orders should be directed to the register, while eat-in orders should be put in at the bar. Things get real weird real fast when you put in a eat-in order at the register (they have to suspend it and transfer it to the bar?? why??) and we watched someone with a basket of chips and guac get more guac than our wonky walk-up order. It just really undermines the experience when you feel shorted going into it. PROS: well seasoned, reasonably priced for an airport, great mixed drinks, varied wine and beer menu, friendly bartenders, you can take the alcohol to go like everywhere in the airport, everything but the tortillas are gluten free. CONS: confusing set-up, cold chips, no tables and cramped bar sitting area, only plastic silverware (even though the bar has glassware and baskets) read more

This place is a dump. It tries to be like chipotle but the food sucks and believe it or not, the staff sucks more. They move at a snails pace. Took extremely long for them to put my burrito in the wrapper so I timed them when they did my cousins. Took 2 minutes and 43 seconds to put a completed burrito in a wrapper. In total, I was in line for 30 minutes and only two people were in line ahead of me. We out of most toppings and the guacamole likely came out of a tube. We've ordered Tacos here twice. It's obvious some of the restaurants at Midway aren't here because of their off airport success. I speculate they made it here the Chicago way. The staff at this location is rude and argumentative. There is no flexibility for allergies and most toppings are extra. I've had tacos from little joints all over the southwest side and had the north side's take on tacos too. I live in Texas now and know a good TexMex taco too. The Barbacoa is probably the best option. I liked the chipotle chicken enough but my wife and kids didn't. The Al Pastor was good while the steak was dried out. Corn tortillas are hit and miss. Black beans were better than most but the rice is dry and flavorless. With this staff and ok food it might survive off-airport but it wouldn't be a place I would frequent if other taco options were available. read more

This place as gone terribly down from what I remember from a few years back. They should be replaced with taco bell...can't believe I just wrote that! Why: Food is overpriced, poor quality (i.e. not fresh ingredients), and poor customer service. Employees are not familiar with condiments that go into their dishes. I ordered the barbacoa burrito which has prefixed condiments (five items)...yet the server omitted two of them!! Also, the meal was supposed to come with a side of chips and salsa; however, I had to remind the cashier of this.... The burrito+750ml water=$19.47, not including the TUMS I will have to take shortly from my evolving upset stomach. Stopped here for a breakfast burrito during my 3 hour later, I ended up choosing the chorizo, egg and avocado, quest burrito and it was pretty good. The only reason I can't give this place more stars is because they won't let you swap out ingredients, the person in front of my and myself asked to swap out the spring mix and black beans for potatoes and they said they couldn't and if we wanted potatoes it was a $2 extra charge. I think it would be beneficial to have a build your own burrito or be able to swap out things. Also, for $8.50-$10 a burrito, it could come with a drink or chips or fruit maybe. read more

I had time to kill and had their 'cowboy burrito' in a bowl... Overall, just unappetizing, unappealing, not-fresh food. I think that was bacon in there... Side of 'chips' that tasted right out of a bulk bag... Just not clean - the walls and other surfaces just looked grody. And what's with selling of candy bars at a texmex restaurant? Even Costco can fry up a churro... Midway food general has taken a huge step back with their 'improvements' and this is an example of those changes. They eliminated Potbelly's and McDonalds so I was forced to eat at Decolores Burrito because the line was short here compared to the other food establishments in the food court. Thankfully the breakfast burrito I ordered (Bacon, Egg, Chorizo burrito) tasted delicious and not extremely expensive. Not so much a grilled pork burrito as a random assortment of ingredients hastily and sloppily put together in a tortilla. The pineapple wasn't grilled with the pork and was canned, the onions tasted odd and had a bad aftertaste, and the pork was bland & too finely shredded. The capper was that it wasn't strained so it ended up being a soggy mess that completely fell apart. I wound up throwing out the last 1/3 of the burrito. Midway's food options are underwhelming but for $16 (burrito and a bottled soda) this should be better quality. Avoid this place. read more
