The atmosphere is always relaxed, welcoming, and the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy an afternoon. The wine selection was excellent, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We learned they also have a good selection of mocktails, beer and small bites. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the live music. The musician created a fantastic ambiance that complemented the setting perfectly--engaging and entertaining without overwhelming the conversation. It added a special energy that made the experience feel memorable and unique. What made our visit even more enjoyable was meeting new friends and some visitors from out of town. Dorothy's has a warm, social atmosphere that naturally brings people together. We found ourselves sharing conversations and stories with fellow guests, turning a simple afternoon outing into a truly memorable experience. Great wine, wonderful music, and new friendships made for an unforgettable afternoon. Dorothy's Wine Bar is a special place, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

So I turned around and stopped in. What I found was a quaint, tucked-away, almost inconspicuous spot delivering food and hospitality at a level that honestly borders on absurd for how unassuming it appears from the outside. The service was warm, polished, and intuitive without ever feeling pretentious. Hats off to both chefs, Christi and Mark for making me feel welcome. The wine pairings? Thoughtful, balanced, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that actually respects food. And then there's the burger. This thing reads like poetry: Ribeye and NY strip trim blend, cooked like a proper steak (medium rare, the only correct answer here), melted gouda, a soft house potato roll, all resting in a luxurious bordelaise sauce that would make a French chef nod in approval. Seriously. This is not a "burger joint burger." This is a chef-driven, butcher-minded expression of beef. Every bite tastes intentional. The bordelaise underneath ties the entire thing together with this deep, glossy richness that elevates it from comfort food into something bordering on fine dining. Places like this are why I still love discovering restaurants organically. No hype machine. No gimmicks. Just confidence, technique, restraint, and execution. This very unassuming little spot has Michelin written all over it.

Alright. Enough with the nonsense Juan Jaspar…read more The staff is not friendly, unless you're a regular. The staff enjoys chatting with customers more than doing their actual JOB. The staff is entitled, upright and annoying. They don't have a proper waiting list system. You can't pay with your cc, only zelle and or venmo. Juan Jaspar is VERY dog friendly, like over the top. There's literally more dogs than people. They have sketchy chairs outside for you to wait until their heart desires. One tip for this desperate little place: time your tables to 90 mins max. You don't have the square footage nor the grit to keep it up. I do not recommend this place to myself nor anyone else. I am banning myself indefinitely from Juan Jaspar. Trust your gut people. I said I wouldn't go back and I did. That was mi mal.

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

I told the hostess we didn't have a reservation and was just coming in for a drink. She gave us a nice table inside. We ordered a bottle of prosecco. "Let's celebrate the end of the school year!" We also ordered a chicken empanada and a mushroom empanada...both very good! The pickled vegetables were delicious too! Service was wonderful as always! Again, I would be here more often but it's always busy. Although, coming back is always special!

Our waitress was a total superstar and took great care of us with service and answering questions. We even joked about Star Trek a bit. I ordered the Rose salad and some roasted potatoes (Bravas Rosas). The potatoes were really delicious and well-seasoned with crunchy and soft parts and a nice spicy dipping sauce. I wanted to love the salad because it was large and well-dressed, BUT the lettuce was gritty and could've used a more thorough rinse. I ended up not eating much of it because the texture wasn't good. One of my friends got the Rose Salad Pie which she really enjoyed (basically a pizza with Rose Salad on top) and my other friend got the gazpacho which really liked. I would definitely come back and try some other dishes. If I do, I'll update the review!
