Wow. This Italian restaurant was AMAZING! From the staff, food, wine, dessert and ambiance..this restaurant was absolutely incredible. Here's what I had.. Cabernet wine (delicious!), beef tartare (best I've had), house bread (complimentary and so delicious), the Bucatini Amatriciana pasta dish (Perfection!) and the tiramisu (absolute delicious!). All the staff and owner were top notch and took care of us. The owner is Italian and keeps with the authenticity of Italian food. Absolutely loved the decor, ambiance and atmosphere inside this lovely restaurant. Gives upscale vibes for sure. The price for everything was so reasonable for what we enjoyed. This is a must visit gem in San Diego. We recently visited Decore in San Diego, and I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We came as a group of six, and every single dish impressed us -- I only wish we could have tried the entire menu! The evening began with the most delicious bread I've ever had -- warm, perfectly textured, and completely addictive. For starters, we shared the meatballs, Suppli (arancini), and Brussels sprouts. While everything was flavorful and beautifully presented, the Suppli and meatballs absolutely stole the show. Rich, comforting, and full of depth -- just phenomenal. For mains, we ordered the Pizza Mantovanna, which had the crispiest, most flavorful crust imaginable, the bolognese (which our daughter devoured), and the Porchetta, bursting with bold, savory flavor. Each dish was crafted with clear attention to detail and passion. We ended with a custard dessert that was simply out of this world -- the perfect finish to a perfect meal. The service was above and beyond- they truly made us feel special and like we were the only ones in a packed restaurant. Decore is a flawless spot for any celebration -- we were there for a special occasion, but I'd come back in a heartbeat just for the food alone. This place is a gem! Pasta dishes fresh and good portions to boot. Had the bucatini. Focaccia bread uniquely wonderful. Had the buratta cheese appetizer with tomatoes which was fantastic and once again a nice portion. We had a 50 dollar bottle of wine that was perfectly paired with meal at the suggestion of the waiter. Service was excellent. Do yourself a favor and go. Incredible place. Truly top notch dining for Pennie's on the dollar. So few places know how to "pace" a meal anymore but first they brought out the Caesar salad and waited a long while. Then it was the other appetizer: Brie cheese. And finally the pizza. Super friendly hosts. Amazing food. Wish they were closer to where I lived. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and we have zero regrets! We ordered the lasagna and margarita pizza (after much debate) and both were so perfect! I love how the lasagna wasn't cheesy like most places that pack the cheese on so much you just taste the cheese. Bread was good and they surprised us with a celebratory dessert. We had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Decore, and we were truly impressed from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and professional. The service was impeccable, and the kitchen absolutely delivered. The pizza and pasta dishes, in particular, were outstanding. The pizza had a flavor and texture that transported us straight to Rome -- just like it came from an authentic Roman pizza oven. The pasta dishes were equally memorable, crafted with incredible traditional flavors. The salad was memorable as well! Oh, and don't forget the desserts. Outstanding! The location is fantastic -- just blocks away from Petco Park and the Gaslamp District. What's truly remarkable is how quickly this restaurant is evolving, even in its earliest days. It already feels like an established gem, and we have no doubt it will only get better from here. We highly recommend Decore to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine paired with top-notch service. My husband and I stopped in for an early dinner at this newly opened Italian restaurant, looking for some authentic Italian, and it did not disappoint. Co-owners Giovanni and Giorgio were very attentive and many items on the menu were tempting - we started with the house made focaccia hot from the oven, and an order of calamari, which was perfectly cooked. With a bottle of nice Barbera di Alba, we had the Spaghettoni Cacio & Pepe, Gorgonzola Salad, Panzanella di Burrata, and a side of Broccolini. It was all delicious, and generous portions, and we were happy to take some of it home in a box for tomorrow's lunch. We have a weakness for cannoli, so ordered two of those for dessert - deliziosi! An after dinner glass of Tamburnin vermouth completed the meal, and we walked home happy! Highly recommend, and we will be back soon! read more

The gnocchi special tasted like sand. It didn't have much flavor, and the waiter made it seem like it was the best thing on the menu. The "pancetta" bits on top seemed cheap. There was also nobody else in the restaurant. There was a screen in the room that was playing various tourist attractions and it was quite distracting. I didn't understand it. It through me off and it made it hard to enjoy the meal. The waiter was very nice, but I believe he was whispering sweet nothings into our ears. He said everything was going to be incredible with a perfect accent, and it just wasn't. It now has come off as smug. 4.9 stars seemed excessive. read more

We live in the neighborhood and finally decided to go here for an early Valentine's Day celebration with my husband. Wow! Every single dish was amazing, and I don't say this lightly. Our server Diego was very professional, attentive and knew the menu and the wines inside and out. The place is decorated very nicely in a relaxed way. My husband called the experience fine dining but I had to disagree, I thought it was just a cozy homemade meal in a very pretty restaurant. That's how great the place is! You feel like you're just hanging out, but suddenly you have an amazing meal without them "trying too hard". This relatively new Italian spot was a delight from the charming and attentive server to the delicious food and Mediterranean chic ambiance. We enjoyed the pizza with butternut squash puree as an appetizer (and the leftover piece was amazing for breakfast). Both ravioli and rigatoni were cooked to perfection and the bronzino risotto special was very satisfying. We finished it off with Basque cheesecake and the berry topping was so fresh, I think that they had picked the berries that morning. Fabulous little restaurant. Great vibe, hip but neighborly. Excellent layout (love the bar which is hemispherical but cozy - handbag hooks at each spot ladies!). Good for friend groups or date night. Seems like it is a really cool neighborhood bistro/wine bar. Food is top notch - can't go wrong with any of the choices (oxtail, porchetta, calamari...). I think it offers really good value and quality. Super friendly service - like they are greeting you into their house! Love it! Love this cute spot! I used to love Café Chloe from years back. Finally something is replacing it that is a somewhat similar concept to that. Our server was attentive, genuine, & helpful. Great wine by the glass list! Try the white merlot. You won't be disappointed if you like a light-medium bodied white. The meatball appetizer & oxtail pasta was so delicious! Oxtail was so tender & the pasta was al dente...muah! The tiramisu is light & perfectly prepared as well as a good portion (not too much but enough to share). Love love love this place! Have been a few times since they opened & have had great Italian food & service every time! The polpette (meatballs - appetizer) are our favorite starter. The cacio i pepe is chef's kiss! You can't go wrong though with the oxtail or the bolognese. The tiramisu is a great way to finish...light & delicioso! Gio (bartender/owner) always provides such genuine, caring hospitality. Giorgio (also owner) is always amazing as well. Antonio (server) is really great too. My goodness! I have traveled to San Diego plenty of times for work and a majority of the foods I have tried have been okay to say the least. I am from the LA area and I must admit we are spoiled with tasty and savory foods. Devore took my breath away (my friend's as well). All the dishes we ordered and the amazing drinks we had were outstanding. Our server/bartender gave us excellent service. Living in South Park we have an abundance of Italian restaurants, 4 in 2 blocks. We decided to give Decore in East Village a try. What a unexpected and glorious surprise. The 2 owners were there and provided so much information and entertainment to the evening. So unpretentious, unlike a few in our neighborhood. The Ravioli Tartufo e Funghi was incredible, lovely pillows of pasta filled with magnificent mushrooms and a hint of truffles. The Roman style pizza had a very light and airy crust with a delightful crunch to it. And, they offer many unique pizza toppings. Fantastic. The service and ambiance were also top notch.
