The best part was there was no guilt -- both bowls were perfectly balanced. We also enjoyed a brewed tea, which we learned was made locally as well. There appeared to be tables available outdoors and indoors so maybe they needed to control the flow for the kitchen staff. Food is "inspired by cafes in Tel Aviv" and is vegetarian and vegan focused. It was a bit pricey (eg., all included breakfast of two pancakes or French toast, eggs, small coffee and toast was $27) and there seemed to be a charge for many things but the overall quality and taste weren't bad. Mostly everything was around 18. The quiche had way more cheese and crust than egg, and the borekas could have had more filling. The shakshuka was very tasty and rich. The egg and cheese on a croissant had a lot of egg; the surcharge on the avocado was a lot compared to the few pieces of avocado you get. They also serve alcohol and the usual coffee and teas. Service was okay and slow, as was the speed of when we got our food and when our water was refilled. We overheard a few tables around us send back food that was burned or otherwise not up to their standards. There are two bathrooms, one of which is cramped. Street parking only and right next to the library.

When you eat a bowl of pasta at DPNB you eat a bowl of love. Not only do they make everything themselves but they also source locally from local farmers and support so many other great local businesses. I love this pasta shop so much and can't wait to be back in Nyack to enjoy another one of their incredible pasta dishes. It's not so easy to find really, really good pizza around Rockland County. After living in the West Village, which dare I say is 'Ground Zero' for 'za, some might say I'm pretty spoiled. It's true. But Dee Maria's has flipped the script. I can't comment on their regular slice, but the whole wheat margherita (thin crusted "Sicilian" style with or without grilled vegetables) is delightful and I never get bored of it. They also have a comprehensive menu of traditional Italian-American comfort food that is always tasty - I get the veal, naturally, and it does not disappoint. Some pastas are available in whole wheat for those who are somewhat carb conscious. Also enjoyable are the mini, hors d'oeurves-sized calzones that are especially great when stuffed with meatballs. Like a refined Jamaican beef patty, but even better, if that makes sense. SPOILER ALERT: Ask for a San Marzano slice. It's typically not on display, but ask for it and the staff will make you a mostly cheese-free (except for a sprinkling of grated Parmesan) sicilian with the most flavorful sauce made from imported San Marzano tomatoes. I once asked if they could intravenously hook me up to their San Marzano sauce pot, but I have yet to hear back. Fingers crossed. read more

The best, or at least among the very best, pizzerias in Rockland County. I highly recommend the whole wheat margarita pizza, but the mini-calzones (with fillings of your choice), the specialty rolls (chicken marsala, anyone), the sicilian san marzano slice (ask for it - the good folks at Dee Maria's will actually prepare a light-as-air sicliian-style slice with fresh San Marzano tomato sauce and a sprinkling of parmesan - heaven). Also, the dinners are all reasonably price and of good, fresh quality. Say hi to Patsy when you're there. That said, these guys were awesome. They immediately got to work, cranked out all of the pizzas in record time, and I was probably only delayed about 20 minutes. One person on my team needed a gluten-free pizza, and she said it was one of the better ones she's had--probably in her top 20%. The rest of us made quick work of the regular pies too. The eggplant Parm pizza continues to be one of my favorites, with a nice balance of sauce, cheese, and generous slices of fried eggplant. I also ordered a half tray of tossed salad. The quality was there, but I thought $40 was pushing it a bit. I'm also not a huge fan of the 4% credit card fee.
