My husband and I have been to numerous bbq joints around Texas. (That's sort of our hobby, I guess you can say). Nonetheless, the food was decent. The brisket was tender but flavorless. One of the major issues that i noticed was the server. I feel that if you're going to have a server it better be a damn good one. Also, bbq joints normally don't have servers. We went for a free food day since they were a brand new spot opening up, so I can only really comment on the food. The food offered included a brisket sandwich and choice of beans or potato salad on the side. Overall, I wasn't impressed, especially since I've been to places like 2M and Franklin's, which really set the bar damn high. The brisket just wasn't all that flavorful and seemed a bit in the dry side. The sides tasted like what you could get at H-E-B: good but nothing special. But I washed it down with some iced tea, which you really can't f**k up. And I'm not sure what was up with our server but she seemed really not-so-pleased to be serving us. With everyone else: service with a smile. Us: very unenthusiastic. We were very polite, so I don't know what was up with that. We wanted to try this place since the area has no good barbecue places. Parking was easy and abundant. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and I just had to sit at the awesome Texas-shaped table! The menu is short and sweet so we ordered a couple plates with one of every meat to give them all a fair try. The service was great. They were very sweet, attentive and quick. The food came out smelling delicious! The meat is soft and juicy. The ribs and brisket were nice and meaty. We took desserts to-go which were nice but pretty small for the price. The place was empty other than us the entire time. Several people came in and ordered to-go so I guess that makes up the bulk of their orders. Overall it was quite yummy. Food is really, really good. We were there late afternoon. A little odd that you have to walk to the bar next door to get a beer, but I assume they'll work that out. We had brisket, sausage, and ribs. All were super tender and really wonderful. Creamed corn was great. Service was good. I thought the prices were reasonable considering that the portions were ample. I see folks talking about the credit card service fee...it was 62 cents. Yes, it seems unnecessary, but it was 62 cents on a 22 dollar tab. I thought it was excellent and so close to us. Constitantly excellent melt in your mouth brisket the most unusually fabulous baked potato salad (no mustard thank you!) We've eaten here at least once or twice a month. The local ABC Newswork covered them at their opening &` gave them an excellent review &`their strong stamp of approval. Normally we eat in the restaurant which is nicely decorated, being served by a familiar & friendly staff, and eating food which is consistently prepared. Customers are recognized by staff and made to feel at home. Food is ample. Served not on butcher paper but in a Styrofoam plate. Their prices are more than competitive. They beat the competition. The three of us went for Saturday dinner around 6pm. Place was not too busy except for the two large party's starting to sift in. The menu is small with not a lot of choices which is a good thing. We ordered and got our plates within 10 minutes. We got a couple of two meat plates and a sausage sandwich. The brisket was tender and decent. There not huge flavor profile but good and tender non the less. The sausage was good and the sandwich was a good size and filling. I got two small ribs with my plate which were tender but I would have rather had the sausage for the larger meat portion. Green beans, cream corn, potato salad, & sweet potato casserole were all good but nothing super special. All in all the food was good. Took the food home, open the box of two meat and one side dish plates and saw 4 ribs and a good size of sausage. My husband wasn't so lucky he only got 3 pieces of ribs and same portions of sausage. He got 1 slice of bread and I got none. The BBQ sauce was basic as if you buy a two Dollar bottle of sauce. The food was basic flavor nothing special, luckily the rib meat was easy off the bone. The sweet tea was almost sweet. We got Mac n cheese which was good surprisingly and potato salad which is a step above HEB. Then the pecan cobbler, not bad good portion size. I ordered the 2 meat meal with Brisket, chicken, Green beans and potato salad. Friend ordered 3 meat with brisket, Turkey and ribs. Everything was moist, fall of the bone and smokey. We tried several BBQ joints in TX and this one was pretty close to number one on our list of favorites. Highly recommend the Pecan Cobbler. It's Good, but nothing really special. I'm very picky when in comes to BBQ. I have live in Texas all my life so I have to be. The Sausage was by far the best part very good. The brisket is good but not a lot of seasoning and a bit dry. Same with the Ribs you couldn't really even taste the salt. The BBQ sauce had too much Vinegar for my taste and to be Frank it was not rich enough. I got the 2 meats plate, Brisket & Sausage with the sides of Cream Corn & Mac & Cheese. Really enjoy the Mac but if your a fan of "sweet" cream corn then this one ain't for you. It's good and love the black pepper in it but it's more in the savory side then sweet. I like it like that but most BBQ places do it sweet to counter the smoke flavors of the meats. Serves: Great, great people and love the place. Price: Good, we were 3 people and it came out to be $50.
