Thank you to ELIZABETH, JIMMY, and PAUL! You all are awesome. We were craving good BBQ after a church concert we attended so i immediately checked on google and they close at 9pm. We arrived 10 minutes before closing... they were cleaning, sweeping and mopping... despite having a long day they honored and received us. They went above and beyond.

    Until sold out

Arrived at 11am, opening time. Little frenetic because aimless employees. There is One register and then One touch screen to handle customer orders. The elevator takes you to a second floor dining area. The one guy there on a register, already slow, then answers the phone and lazily explains the hours and yes we are open and where we are located, etc... They call your name and you go up and get your order. It is grocery store brisket yall. Just like you go in to the HEB deli and get a sandwich, it's average. . But it ain't the same as Lenny's, Jersey Mike's etc... I had the sliced brisket sandwich. Macaroni n cheese, fried okra, and the serrano corn bread. The brisket was way too salty, honestly Bill Millers is better. The mac n cheese is really cheesy, it tastes good and I appreciate the strong cheese. The best part of my meal was the serrano cornbread, it tastes like tamale masa and with dollop of sweet butter on top it's like a dessert.

    Lean brisket.

The food was fantastic highlighted by the best lean brisket. I've had in quite some time. Employees were kind and polite. Ambience is a little sterile, but you'll be too focused on your meal to notice!

As a vegetarian, this probably wasn't the smartest place for me to choose to eat lunch, but my family wanted to go, and I wasn't gonna stop them. I got the baked potato, which was cooked all the way through and was nice and warm I felt like the flavor Was lacking a bit, a little salt and pepper could go a long way. My family had the brisket plate and a sandwich. The mac & cheese was very classic, and the barbecue sauces were classic as well. The spicy barbecue sauce is way better than the original sauce, and not very spicy at all. It's nice that they mark which options are vegetarian, so I didn't have to question whether The dish had some sort of meat by product. ANYWAYS, not a bad spot for an easy, casual lunch, and thankful that they had at least some vegetarian options!

I was curious about this place after hearing about it during the renovation and the marketing push HEB has been done; and HEB you did it right. When they say true Texas bbq they mean it. I appreciate how you can walk on and order at the counter or the kiosk. Staff is super friendly and enthusiastic about what they're serving and who they're serving. It's a casual dining setting with seating downstairs and upstairs. Pricing is better than most bbq places these days. Rarely when I visit a bbq restaurant is everything good. Usually it's great bbq and the sides are ok. Not here!! Everything was delicious. Brisket was tender, juicy and what you expect from classic brisket. The turkey breast was juicy and flavorful. The sides....hats off to whoever is the culinary director for HEB. Sides were not overlooked. The collard greens were amazing. Normally I prefer hot sauce with my greens but these greens needed absolutely nothing. The Mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy. I like how the sidewinder fries were done. Crispy and soft on the inside. Even the Serrano cornbread was great. Chef kiss and salute to you, HEB!! Well done....well....done

This is what they said and this is what I got

I will start off by saying that I was very excited for this! I know they are getting there footing but the wait was forever. There were maybe 5 people in here and it took us at least 15 minutes to get through the line ( one person in front of us) and when we did get through the poor guy didn't know how to work the register? We waited almost another 20 minutes to get the food. The brisket was good but the wait was so long and the banana pudding tasted like frosting. It's very clean and affordable but I don't like staying that long waiting in line or waiting after for the delivery.

Some of the best fast food bbq. The chili is good and the loaded baked potato is delicious. My go to is the sliced brisket sandwich.

It's definitely the deli bahn mi that keeps me coming back regularly as well as the staff--they really are artists of their craft. If you know exactly what you want they'll give you that and if you're undecided or new, they have great recommendations that really do provide a well balanced bite. Every time for me, even when I'm not grabbing a deli bahn mi or ordering for others, has been a perfect sandwich. They have online ordering, phone in ordering, and you can also order there in person. The line gets long during the rush so if you're limited on time, I advise ordering ahead. Thundercloud from what I understand is originally an Austin chain. They serve soup peddler soups (also an Austin staple) and even offer cookies and smoothies which I also enjoy. About a week ago I got my girlfriend a cookie from Paris baguette and she later commented that she STILL preferred thunder clouds chocolate chip cookie over the bakeries (says a lot for a sandwich shop cookie to trump a bakery tbh). You can choose from white or wheat bread & I really enjoy how they offer two sizes of a sandwich along with plenty of options for meat and veggies. It keeps the possibilities endless. Like I mentioned earlier my go to is a large deli bahn mi on white bread with sriracha mayo add salami and salt and pepper. (I've found that the manager's special, the deli bahn mi is not available at all locations, so I'm thankful to always find it at this one). My girlfriend usually grabs the Austin club on white bread with honey mustard and sprouts and both keep us coming back ultra satisfied and ready for another round. I've also enjoyed their frito pie, Big Paul, and their meatball sub. The drink and chip selection is also fire, I especially enjoy their canned organic lemonade. Outside of the food and their service I love how well kept this place is. Always clean, always inviting, and always a great option to have in rotation. Highly recommend stopping in to visit

My favorites are the nada chicken sandwich and the veggie delight with hummus. Both are top notch non meat options. Today I had the nada chicken. It's a plant based chikn patty with all the fixings. And it was just as I have grown to expect and love. Perfect. The service is friendly and chatty, which I have always enjoyed. The restaurant is small, but spacious. The real trouble is the tiny parking lot which is on a very busy peninsula. You can also order online for pickup which is fast and efficient too!

I immediately book marked it as a place I wanted to hit! The front street view of the place wasn't eye catching, but once inside, it was lively and busy. Super casual, order at the counter. We received a very friendly greeting and the gentleman happily introduced us to their menu. Love how everything is made in house scratch. They make their own sourdough breads, brews, and brisket. We made it just in time before brunch ended ( ends at 1400). We ordered: Brunch Pastrami and egg on sourdough potato roll sando. Delicious!!!!! The roll was so soft , the house made pastrami was tasty and not overly salty, paired with 2 fried eggs, and ooey gooey melted Swiss. Yumm!!! Little pricey as it didn't come with anything else. But, it definitely was amazing! Shared a large Native Texan pizza. Woweee! One of the best pizzas we ever had. It had house made pastrami brisket, house pickled jalapeños, red onions, and various cheeses. It was topped and swirled with a tallow Bbq sauce, which gave it a slight smoky flavor. The jalapeños gave a nice after bite kick. The sourdough crust was perfectly thin, with a slight sweet aftertaste. We took home some leftover pizza slices and they were still as delicious the first day. Hubby is still raving about the pizza today lol Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We didn't try any of their home brews as it was too early in the day for us, but for sure next time. Can't wait to revisit and try some more things on the menu. Military discount is offered.

I was able to make my way here on my last day in San Antonio in late March thanks to my flight being delayed and my oh my, I am quite impressed! The older gentleman taking my order at the counter gave me a big smile when I mentioned I heard you have this thing called the serious sandwich here. He told me that they do and then stated "You won't regret ordering it, seriously." Chuckling, I decided on a half order of that along with a side of potato salad and their side of beans. After taking my first bite, I realized the gentleman was right. This is a dope sandwich! Excellent cured meats in the salamar and pair of hams along with the provolone and melted cheddar with the veggies, spices, italian dressing, and mustard. The bread they use holds up well and has a slight crunch to it. If you prefer your bread to have softness to it, you may have to ask if they can substitute a different bread instead of the italian flat bread they use. But I absolutely love this sandwich the way it is! As for the sides, the potato salad has a slight mustard taste and right consistency with a dash of paprika on top; just the way I like it. The beans are charro beans (I think) that are served steaming hot with some pork trimmings mixed in; I may have dipped my sandwich in it a couple times for flavor explosion. What can I say, I'm adventurous! There's some ferrari memorabilia and posters on the right side where some of the high top seating is. As a Ferrari F1 fan, I appreciate them displaying this here along with the track map of the COTA circuit in Austin. The seating area is spread out nicely with plenty of seats/tables and a drink station with some random signs up. All of interest to consumers like us. Definitely recommend coming here for either the serious sandwich or other delicious ones like their meatball sandwich or manhattan. I can't wait to come back and try the other ones but I may just stick with the serious sandwich cause I loved it. SERIOUSLY!
