Awesome Sunday Morning brunch spot. I went with a group of friends we waited about 40 minutes to be seated. Let me tell you it was worth the wait, the fresh OJ was excellent start. The service was sharp, she took time to explain the most popular items and even let us alter our orders without hesitation. The Pancakes are decent and the Chicken Fried Steak was tender and flavorful. The Gravy was tasty not to greasy the homemade biscuits complimented it well. Found this lovely little place one our way through town and had the best breakfast and service! It was my dads birthday, and he got a free cinnamon roll that was delish! We had the mushroom omelet, BAS Benedict, corn beef hash and a biscuit. All highly recommend. To top it all off, our server, Heather, was absolutely delightful! Normally we would just eat somewhere along the I-5 corridor as we pass through Redding. However this time we ventured a few miles west off Hwy I-5 and were not disappointed. The food is great, but my goal in writing this review is for the owner to review their printed menu. My wife and I ordered the classic egg meal which the menu showed included eggs, hashbrowns, choice of meat and choice of toast/biscuit/pancakes, all for $9.99. I was surprised to discover that the choice of meat that is offered is an additional $3.99 on top of the $9.99 for the meal. The menu does not reflect that. A previous time, I had ordered the depot omelette and the menu makes it seem that you get four meats in it. You don't. It's a choice of one meat, but again the printed menu does not reflect that. Please be honest with your customers and reprint your menus to reflect what you're actually offering. Additional to respond to the owner: The screenshots of your menu are not the current menu since you relocated. The new menu is printed in a modern gray. Your pricing then was honest, your current printed menu is not. read more

And If you're an out-of-towner (such as myself) and traveling up Interstate 5 in the Redding area, and looking for some amazing greasy spoon family-styled comfort food, look no further because "Deja Vu" is just that place. And after seeing the positive reviews on Yelp, why not give it a try? Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Redding, "Deja Vu Restaurant and Bakery" is located in the historic Lorenz Hotel. From the outside, burnt red brick walls gracefully show the charm and character of the restaurant. And one you step foot inside, high ceilings, hanging fixtures, large wooden tables, and a truly relaxed family atmosphere is present in every direction. Once you do come in, you will immediately turn right and follow the green carpet straight to the dining room. The gateway arch will guide you to their bakery and espresso bar. In addition, their menu consists of good family-styled comfort food that offers several types of omelets, pancakes, cold & hot sandwiches, burgers and fresh bakery items. I come here on a Tuesday afternoon around 12:30pm with my lovely lady as I'm taking a much needed lunch break from work. It was actually my first time actually eating at a sit-down restaurant in Redding and her first time even coming to this laid back city in over a decade. As we both carefully look at the menu, I order a "1/2 Garden Sandwich" with a side order of seasoned curly fries (for $7.49). I also order an ice cold lemonade as my beverage of choice. As she is craving breakfast, she orders their "Lorenz Omelet" complete with hash browns and a side of English muffin (for $8.99). She orders a unique seasoned drink and that is none other than their "Cinnamon Bun Latte" (for $4.50). Her coffee beverage arrives within minutes. After sampling a small taste of her "Cinnamon Bun Latte", this has got to be one of (if not) the best coffee drinks I've ever tasted. The consistency of espresso with the texture and creaminess of the milk and dollop of foam sprinkled with bits of cinnamon & brown sugar on top surpassed anything I've ever experienced. I've been to a lot of independent coffee shops in my years and this drink surpassed anything I've ever had. Both of our meals come out within 10 short minutes. My garden sandwich tasted perfect. It had the perfect amount of cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts, avocado, and cream cheese on homemade sourdough bread. The seasoned curly fries were crispy and tasted on point without being too overbearingly salty. And the portions of the fries were huge! You definitely get a lot for your money! I had a few bites of her omelet as this thing was so darn big, she was only able to finish half of it. But from what I tasted, it had a very generous amount of mushrooms, onions, and potatoes while the melted cheese on the egg hit a grand slam in my book. Overall, the outstanding service, portions, prices, and feel of "Deja Vu Restaurant" really made this trip to Redding a unique and memorable one. And for those of you reading this that just might visit nearby Lake Shasta or even on a trip to Oregon, this is more than just a pit stop; it was an experience that we will remember for quite some time! Well we came to town for work and looked up breakfast places. DejaVu looked great so we came to eat here. We are healthy people and on a keto diet (it's usually not that hard to order as we are on no sugar and very low carbs). But we struggled here... They had no stevia as a sweetener. Only artificial SweetPlus which is not good for you! They had no heavy whipping cream so I couldn't make my bulletproof coffee (coconut oil or butter in your coffee plus cream). They had only half&half which has high carbs. I ordered eggs Benedict without potatoes and muffin. They did ask if I want a fruit instead but since we don't do sugar it's out for us. We asked for side of avocado but they charged us for it :-( I don't think we can eat here again as they don't support healthy eating. They probably think low fat diets are "healthy". This place is great! They give really huge portions of their breakfast items. I really like that you can get a side of small pancakes (instead of toast or biscuits) and they were still really big and fluffy! We also got to try 3 different syrups with it and it was honestly the best of both worlds. I got the bacon, ham and mushroom omlette and it was packed, and I mean PACKED with meat within the omelette. I'd recommend coming here! Came in on Friday morning at 9:30 and you wait to be seated, with a group of 10 we split ourselves into a group of 7 and 3 but the restaurant had tables for up to 6 people, which makes more sense and so we split the group where 4 sat in a booth and 6 at a table. Silverware is already on the tables, along with various condiments and coffee supplies. Our server for both groups, Shelly was amazing! She was very patient, had high energy. She worked with one of our group members about their allergies. Our waters came out right away along with coffee. We ordered at 9:45 and the orders started to come out right away, in 10 minutes. I ordered Bill's Special which is a biscuit amd gravy, with 2 eggs done whichever way you want, and choice of bacon or sausage. From the description I asked Shelly if it was filling ad I was looking for something light and she said it was because the biscuit is huge. She was right! It was huge and enjoyed the dish initially but found it to be dry as the gravy didn't keep warm lost seasoning. With a dash of some hot sauce it was good but later on thought I should of gotten an omelet. The rest of the group I was in really liked how the hashbrown sides werr not overly salty and really enjoyed the clam chowder bread bowl too. The restaurant got packed by 10:30 but seems to be quite large in size as many guests were seated on one side and the other side started to get full too. The bathroom was located at the front of the restaurant and was very clean. Very fast service and lots of menu items to choose from and large portions! The cinnamon bun latte is the best way to start off your morning. One of the best lattes I think I've ever had. Very smooth and flavorful. The concept/decor of this establishment is a bit confusing and I don't quite think it hits the mark of the brand name "Deja Vu" - The initial entry into the restaurant, almost feels like walking into a funeral parlor; with the dark hall and poorly lighted entrance. Once you have been seated, the inside of the restaurant main room- well kept and clean - the decor reminds me of farm house sheik; a bit outdated but nice. Our server was super prompt and the kitchen was fast with getting food out to the tables. I ordered a white mocha and a cheese and mushroom omelette with a side of hash browns. The white mocha was super tasty and came out hot. My main meal however, was a bit on the bland/disappointed side. The omelette was overloaded with mushrooms *which some might appreciate* - the lackluster part, not only was the omelette over stuffed with mushrooms- it missed the mark of having any flavor at all...zero. No spices, salt or pepper - just super bland with one poor slab of American cheese on top. I opted for the hash brown choice over the home fries; they came out in a cut slab and not fully cooked all the way; crispy on top and mush the rest. I visibly watched the owner ignore a family of 6 because they had children, the owner of than yelled in the mothers face telling that her and her kids could wait another 45 minutes. Usually my go to place. Today is the first time visiting since my husbands passing and got completely ignored. Got sat, other people came in and were sat next to us. They got their water, drink order and food order before our waitress decided to acknowledge us. She apparently had to make their specialty drink before seeing us. Also this place is the emptiest I've ever seen it, so that "I'm super busy" excuse can't be used today.
