I've been to this location twice now, and unfortunately both experiences have been disappointing. The first time, I ordered a wrap. When I received it, it wasn't wrapped at all. It was folded in half like a quesadilla, which made it very difficult to hold and eat. It also seemed only partially heated. The cheese was only partially melted, and some of the shredded cheese was still loose and falling out. Then today, I ordered a 16 oz. açaí bowl while my friend ordered a 14 oz. bowl. Even though they came in different-sized containers, they appeared to have the exact same amount of açaí in them. It was disappointing to pay for a larger size and not receive what looked like a larger portion. I hope they can improve their consistency because the food itself has potential. read more

If you have 20-30 minutes to spare and a good book you'll probably be fine in this drive-thru. I've left this location more than once because the wait is ridiculous. The other day I sat there forever and finally took off. Today the truck in front of me got tired of waiting and left and I wasn't far behind. When I finally pulled up to order the employee asked if I had ordered a shot and told me the amount. I explained that I hadn't even placed an order yet. My order had been skipped and the car behind me had already ordered and had their drink being made before my order was even taken. After waiting that long she asked if I still wanted to order. At that point I said no and left. There didn't seem to be much concern that a customer who had already been waiting was driving away. And the apple nachos... I'm sorry but I took a few bites and couldn't finish them. They tasted so much like dog food I actually checked the label to make sure I wasn't eating a dog treat. The smoothies are good and the only reason I am not giving this place a two star. Maybe I just have bad luck with this place but after multiple visits I'm over it. I will take my business to Country Organics instead. read more

Sure, it's got the juice and the inside is tastefully decorated (love the modern decor -reminiscent of NYC), but it's their customer service that won me over! If you don't know what to order, chat with one of the employees and they'll be happy to help you. If you have any dietary restrictions, such as myself, they'll make alterations with a smile. Thought I would try the new Roots on Churn Creek Rd. Surprised no indoor seating. I ordered a strawberry smoothie that was nothing more than semi-solid flavored ice. Actually. what you might call a slush. I got a 12-ounce cup of ice with a slight flavor of strawberry and no actual evidence of a strawberry. I paid almost $8 for ice. I have had real smoothies before and made some of my own and what distinguishes a smoothie from a slush or a slurpie is what ingredients you use. I am completely disgusted with this and feel I was totally ripped off and deceived by all of their hype. Roots has a fairly complete menu with wraps and bowls and sandwiches which perhaps they expect you to enjoy while you are driving down the road. This seems to be a new concept in fast food/drink establishments to avoid the expense of providing indoor seating. I've been a loyal Roots customer for quite some time now and have always had great experiences--until my visit on Wednesday, August 6th around 7:50 PM. From the start, the service felt unwelcoming. The young man at the window (curly-haired brunette) looked visibly annoyed to see us. I understand arriving 10 minutes before close can be inconvenient, but if the store is open, customers should still be treated with courtesy. I had a reward for a free 24 oz juice or smoothie and redeemed it for a smoothie. My boyfriend also paid for a 24 oz smoothie. When our drinks were handed to us, both were in smaller 16 oz cups, and my boyfriend's was served in a cup that was broken. Serving undersized drinks--especially when one was purchased--and handing a customer a broken cup is unacceptable. This was by far the most disappointing experience I've had at Roots, and I hope management addresses both the quality and customer service issues. read more

I wasn't able to get pictures because we were on the go, but I have to tell you, I wish we had one of these in Sacramento. I'm sure we have something like it, but it's probably mid town making it not as accessible to those of us who live off the grid as it's referred to here. Anywho, in a world full of processed foods full of refined sugar, it was refreshing to find some healthy alternatives for our little road trip. On our way up to Oregon, we stopped and each of got our own drink (I got the pineapple sunrise and he got the funky monkey) and then each got a bowl to share. I got the chia bowl with hemp hearts and strawberries and he got the apple nachos. The young people working there really seemed to know their stuff. They were kind and friendly considering how early it was. Hahaha. We would have stayed and hung out, but we were trying to make good time on the road and had a long way to go. The building was clearly an Old Wendy's, but with a new splash. It was bright yet earthy. Very inviting place to go with plenty of seating. Everything was so good, we had to go through the drive through and get another drink on the way home. After eating the garbage bento box I had the night before, I needed a Mean Green drink and he stuck with the funky monkey. Funny little note, I had left my reading glasses on the counter on Saturday morning and on our way back through my husband asked if they still had them and they did. The fruit was good just be aware that they only have frozen blueberries--one of my girls didn't enjoy that while another one of my daughters likes frozen fruit. Roots just lost my business, sadly because we have limited healthy food options in town. The girl today working the window who took my money was the same girl I watched use her bare hands rip off a hunk of kale was it up into a ball and shove it into the juicer. Including all of the others veggies that went into my drink. I noticed how she looked dirty and I showered when I laid her and her chewed finger nails. I was so disgusted I threw away my $7.25 drink. The worst acai bowl I ever had. We stopped during our road trip to get something refreshing. I didn't realize until later the acai part of the bowl was FROZEN! I didn't pay attention when they were making it but I'm guessing they have pre-filled bowls with acai on the bottom and put them in the freezer. After I let it thaw out...it was sugary sweet! Gross.
