After a long series of not-so-great steak houses in Silicon Valley, Del Frisco's in Washington, DC set the bar with fantastic food, excellent service, and enough space between tables that I didn't hear any of the conversations around me. I started with the Burrata and heirloom tomato salad - definitely one of the best I've had. Then I had the King Crab Rainbow Roll. Great fresh crab taste. I followed up with "bacon", which was very good but not exceptional, and then had 3oz of the A5 Wagyu steak, which was so good it was just dreamy. I'd travel across the US again just to have more Wagya - it was that good! I finished off with berries and cream, which I leveled up by adding some white chocolate sauce from my wife's beignets. This was great! Food was absolutely delicious. I had tuna with truffle fries. Ambience was great. Our server was professional and warm, while being unobtrusive. He was really running; he had several tables and I felt bad for him, but he stayed on top of it all. I took off one star-- We had a reservation for 6:30. We called about ten minutes before that to let them know we were running late. Arrived at 6:45 and they said "Give us five minutes to get your table ready." So we had to stand there in front of the maitre d stand for several minutes while we waited. I'm not sure if whoever answered the phone didn't convey the message to the host, so they had given our table away by the time we arrived? At any rate, it was awkward. Atmosphere is cool for a steakhouse. The ambience is great for a dinner or even lunch date. Clean and the host station is always professional and personable. I've been here several times although I don't live in DC mainly because I do enjoy the food and the cocktails. Waiter service can be hit or miss. I've had great service when sitting at the bar but sitting at a table a I was last night (Friday night) was lacking. I had to ask 3 passing servers to please send a waiter to our table. Don't understand why it took so long to even be acknowledged. Three tables were sat AFTER us in close proximity and they all received bread baskets and water before we did. The good: Our server was very nice and attentive. It was easy to just go in and have a table with no wait. It was close to our hotel. The meals came out hot/warm and didn't take long to be served. I'd say the calamari was probably the best part of the entire meal. We devoured it. The other dishes left us hoping for more flavor in a way. The rolls looked amazing but were also lacking a bit, I did however dip it in the calamari juices. The restaurant is clean, the design is sleek and leaves the room feeling open and not crowded at all. The mushrooms were super good and very flavorful. The sea bass was pretty okay but was a little dry, and definitely needed the black bean garlic sauce in order to get flavor for the fish. I did really like the crab fried rice accompaniment. The service team could have definitely communicated more. Our waiter was very friendly but, unfortunately he left for an extended period of time to the point where all three of his tables were wondering where he went. There wasn't a replacement available to cover the tables so unfortunately we waited 20+ minutes to receive the bill. The manager did eventually speak to all three tables offering his apologies. The Orlando location really blew my socks off so I thought this would be a great place for my birthday dinner in DC because we don't have one in Charleston. He was excited to offer the Butter Cake. It seemed to be their signature dessert. Everything was pretty good. However, I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out well done. Visited recently for my second visit, to confirm the first horrible visit wasn't a fluke. Went in mid afternoon 3ish and the place was virtually empty, maybe 4 tables with no more than two people each. Ordered a burger as it was close to lunch, the burger came out so overcooked it was literally crumbling, brought this to the attention of the server and was told, I didn't cook the burger, awesome. Asked to see the manager because at this point, no longer interested in dining here. The manager was on a conference call and unwilling to come down to hear the feedback, at that point I was ready to leave still hungry and not accepting the gift card being offered because... this isn't the experience anyone should experience EVER! read more

I've been to other del frisco locations, but this was the first time in DC. From what we saw, the main dining room is on the smaller side and is dominated by a large bar. The bar was quite crowded at 5:30 but it was not overly loud. The starters, steaks and sides, as always, were fantastic. Our meal pacing was a little wonky. My son ordered the lobster bisque, which he really enjoyed, but it came out maybe 3 minutes before the steaks so he didn't get to enjoy it as much as he could have. I made reservations for my birthday. I was so excited to go to Del Frisco's because of what my sister told me. It was four of us we ordered 4 appetizers, 4 drinks and everyone ordered a steak my sister and I both ordered Tomahawks, and 6 sides. The only food that was good were the appetizers, everything else was terrible. I've never in my life had a steak that was that bad, poor quality (had a lot of fat) no taste, it wasn't seasoned at all except with the garlic butter. Our bill was $800.25, instead of complaining we asked for boxes and paid the bill and left. I said I would never come here again. That was the worst birthday dinner I ever had. I realized yesterday I've been incorrectly placing all DC steakhouses in the same relative tier. Del Frisco's filet mignon may be the best I've had in my life *and I don't even generally like filet mignon!* Went there yesterday for lunch. My friend got the salmon, and she really enjoyed it. I got the filet mignon and omg. OMG. The seasoning on it was absolutely perfect and the tenderness was butter in my mouth. Hands-down some of the best steak I've ever had, and likely the best filet mignon I've ever had. I'm not normally a filet mignon guy because while the tenderness and texture is usually great it can come at the expense of flavor but not here. Bravo. I want to bring my mom back because filet mignon is her thing. As I side I got mushrooms and it was an excellent pairing. We were offered brioche (?) bread to start and it had this wonderful glaze and I could have eaten that for dessert. Service, lest I forget, was what you would expect: attentive but not intrusive, and unfailingly polite. I had one little wrinkle and that's that they have a business lunch option and it was not offered to us, just the regular menu, but I mentioned that to the manager and he was very receptive. (To be clear, it was merely constructive feedback; I neither asked, nor received, anything in exchange.) This may now be my favorite steakhouse in DC and I can't wait to bring others here. Great venue for all occasions: birthdays, family, and even private rooms for business meetings. They have two floors, 1st has a larger bar (most likely for lunch crowd) and some seating. 2nd floor has two large seating areas with good spacing between tables & a smaller bar. Windows all around 1st and 2nd level so there's always a good view of scenery and people-watching. White table cloth (you're at a steakhouse of course) and low lighting - but not too dim where you can't see the menu. We sat upstairs in the back, as it was my birthday and wanted the best seat/privacy. Night before thanksgiving - it was light but not empty. Service was great - everyone was very friendly and helpful. Took pictures for us and comped our dessert when Sue, our amazing server, overheard. Food is BOMB - some of my favorite steaks have been from del Frisco; however, this was my first time here (I'd been in NYC). Usually get the thick cut bacon - perfect combination flavor; sweet & heat/spiciness. Steak: 16oz Bone-in filet with truffle butter, cooked medium. Barely needed the knife to cut thru - very juicy. I recommend asking for coarse salt (thank me later). Plates are heated so that's always a plus at quality restaurants. Amazing selection of food and wine - something for everyone People dislike or hate on chain-restaurants, but I think the good-quality ones (Nobu, del, Mastro's, etc) get it right. This is an amazing location of Del Frisco's steakhouse. Everything we had was great and I would recommend them all. Note that things are a little pricy so be prepared for that. Also, there is a lunch deal in this location that you can take advantage of for a lunch date without spending too much. We had the crab cake, which was amazing and came with a sauce that really complemented it, but would have loved the portion to be a little bigger. The rib eye steak was sooo nicely made, I had it at medium. And the chef's seafood special had tons of seafood as shown in the picture. Great ambiance and lots of seating space. Living at CityCenter and loving steak, I was really looking forward to trying this place out. Looking online, the price point is higher than Joe's Stone Crab for steak so I was thinking this place would be amazing. Ultimately, I think this place flat out sucks, even compared to a lower tier chain and I would never return given the horrible experience I had here. It appears they were friends with some of the staff here. Enough said. SERVICE: The service here is absolutely horrific. I walked inside and sat at the bar. I gave the bartender a little attitude when he finally checked in with me as I was seriously about to up and leave. I ordered a Diet Coke and asked for a menu. The bill was updated but I had to wait quite a while to get my Diet Coke as everyone else after me were served fancy drinks. The bar was dead so there was no need for such a long wait. A group of misfits showed up to order drinks before going to an event upstairs. I went to the bathroom only to come back to a backpack from one of these idiots sitting in my bar stool. Again, the bartenders and clientele here were awful yesterday. My entire time here the service was shit. FOOD: I paid $90 for a 45 day aged Ribeye and the side of Asparagus was around $14. The steak sucked. I asked for medium rare and it came out raw. I even had to ask the bartender what it was only for her to look at the bill to say it was medium rare. I know what the bill would say, but I wanted your opinion. The steak was also very tough and I was unable to even eat some of it. The asparagus was just as tough and had to spit some of it out. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in DC, if not the worst. I expected a lot more for the price point and I couldn't wait to get out of here. I even paid the bill as I was still eating knowing I wanted to dip out ASAP. I will never return to this awful excuse of a high end restaurant and wouldn't recommend anyone go. read more

The creamed spinach needed more flavor and was very watery (this didnt make it into the reorder club). The calamari was on another level with the chili sauce, peanuts and bean sprouts added...mm mm mm! The chocolate martini was very delicious but be careful what you drink it with if you have a sensitive stomach. Del Frisco's is such a hit or miss experience. We live next to the restaurant in City Center and would really like to be able to dine two times in a row without there being a major service mess-up. We had not dined at Del Frisco's in over a year, but we decided to dine there at the downstairs bar one Sunday night in November. We had a fantastic bartender/server, Lew. She made us feel comfortable and our drinks and food orders were perfect. We returned the following week and sat at the upstairs bar. Unfortunately we had a different bartender who messed up our order, and in addition we were overcharged for our drinks. The apps were decent, nothing amazing to write home about. The steak on the other hand was great. Tender and juicy and the fondue on top elevated it to a whole different level (a must add on!). Went to Del Frisco's last night for our anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint! Sat upstairs in a booth and had the joy of having Eddie as our server. He was personable, attentive and helpful. I was in the service industry for almost fifteen years and I honestly don't believe I've ever had better service. I ordered the salmon crudo, raw oysters, chateau mashed potatoes and the lamb chops. ALL DECADENT and the lamb was cooked to perfection. My fiancé ordered the bone in ribeye (we shared the sides). Solid but he couldn't keep his hands off my lamb. We don't drink so I can't speak on the alcoholic beverages but my partner enjoyed his bottled coke lol. Atmosphere was lush, inviting, not too open as to where you feel like you're eating in an upscale cafeteria but also social so you could see and hear other people dinning. We will be back. Wow, this location is awful - avoid at all costs Went on a Tuesday evening around 7:00 ish. Was shocked to see the bar mostly empty and the dining room about 1/2 full, should have been my first clue. Traveling alone, chose the bar. Took what seemed to be an extraordinary amount of time to be acknowledged. Ordered a glass of the super tuscan. Had that opened sitting around for a few days taste, but whatever. Ordered food a few moments after getting my wine......Very simple order, caesar salad, truffle fries and a rare 8oz filet. About 7-8 minutes goes by and here comes the food runner with the steak and fries. I said i had ordered a salad, he turns to go back to the kitchen, and i could already tell that dinner was headed for the heat lamp. I stopped him and accepted the food and just cancelled the salad. The fries were totally lukewarm warm and mushy, gross. The steak although technically rare was cooked weird, it was like cooked 1/2 way through on one side and then kissed with heat on the other, it was grey on the surface. Probably a pre-fired steak to help with ticket times, why that would need to be done on a rare steak, i have no idea. Anyway, i push the totally full bowl (ate like 3) of fries the edge of the bar, bartender asks if i am done with them and i nod. Never asked if they were ok, which again is weird. Never once was asked how everything was or if i wanted another glass of wine. Bottom line, this location sucks, food and service both terrible, had college volleyball on tv which wasn't exciting so even the ambiance was lacking not to mention only 1/2 full at dinner time. Paid $97 for an 8oz filet and a glass of wine, not a great value. Do not recommend. read more

Our dinner plans failed so Del Frisco was on my list to try, was nearby and available, so we went for it. They didn't disappoint. The steak shrimp and salmon were seasoned and cooked to perfection; the wine selection was vast; the butter and salt-topped yeast roles, appetizers and desserts were top notch. I didn't have high expectations but I would return for sure. The customer service was great. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and gave us great suggestions as first timers. My husband didn't care for his first drink and it was quickly swapped out. It can get crowded and a little loud in comparison to other steakhouses but I didn't mind.
