Quickly becoming one of my favorite places. Not merely because of the food, but the amazing service that I always get while coming. The food comes out great and fast, and the servers and staff are always helpful and friendly. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, as it was a special and not on the regular menu. It had a lemon butter sauce that was excellent! I hope they continue to serve this.

Came for dinner with a party of 10. Was happy to be able to get a last minute reservation for that size. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The ambience of the place was calm and not loud which was great so we could all have a conversation and hear each other. The drinks were great but a little pricey. The spa water drink was very good. Overall the food was Ok but not amazing. The BVG burger was cooked medium but it was dry and flavorless. The chicken parm was really good. Overall nice place, and great staff.

Stopped in for a cocktail only.. drink was made very well and the tender was quick to see me sit and take my order and was also quick at creating the drink. The ambiance is definitely a steakhouse type of vibe with wood trim on everything and was clean and friendly. I enjoyed my visit for a cocktail and will probably return for a food visit

The food and the service were wonderful. I especially like the pea and the arugula salad. The cheesecake was a bit too heavy for me. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, but it was very very fatty. Point More fat than usual. The salmon was outstanding!

Bobby Van's is not what it used to be or maybe, just maybe good choices have gotten so much better in D.C. through the years that Bobby Van's is actually showing its true colors. The service here is good, and the ambiance is old and classic but nothing amazing or memorable. I don't have much more to say than there are other choices in the immediate area, literally a "stones" throw away. Maybe try them.

A nice traditional steak house with interesting history on the menu. We had steaks, including a tomahawk, potatoes, salads, mushrooms, and brussels. Delightful food and evening.

The restaurant is HUGE! Took us a minute before we got to a private space for our dinner. All of the staff were really nice and attentive. We had a preset menu, with choice of salad/French onion soup, and entree, and a small dessert. The cream spinach was outstanding!!

Fantastic food and excellent customer service! Our server, Apolinar, went above and beyond, even surprising us with complimentary drinks for our anniversary dinner. We had the shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, salmon, and shrimp pasta, which were absolutely amazing. The drinks were strong too!

Bobby Van's is a must try in DC. They offer a variety of steaks and it was amazing. This is the original location, they had very good drinks to go along with the food. Appetizers were tasty especially the calamari. The style of the restaurant is comforting and great ambiance. Our waitresses were very attentive, and made sure everyone was doing great throughout the evening. I would suggest remodeling the bathrooms but, overall great place.

As always Bobby V's delivers a great experience. The crew and I have made this our annual Friday Night Howard University Homecoming Dinner spot. Good food, drinks, wine, and fellowship! The filet was cooked to medium rare perfection! Melted like butter with every bite. The service staff rocks. See y'all next Homecoming! BTW...the lobster bisque was outstanding.

I visited here on a Wednesday night with my son. I found a coupon on Groupon that I used. I made up a 7:30pm reservation. The restaurant a romantic type of ambiance and atmosphere. Even though, it was nice for my son and I. I wanted us to have a nice meal before we left out of town. I got a smoked margarita for my drink and I got a lemonade for kid. The drinks came out fairly quickly. We were given complementary bread. The second drinks I got was a Washington Apple. Both drinks were tasty. We had onion soup and shrink cocktail as the appetizer. I wasn't a huge fan of the onion soup. For food, we got son chicken Parmesan, salmon, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and rice. My kid said he wasn't hungry and didn't eat much of his food. He ate it the next day. I highly enjoyed my food and have no complaints. For dessert, I got NY cheesecake, which was yummy! When we were done eating, I boxed up our food. I wonder if that was the standard or not as I saw other tables being brought their leftovers in bags. Overall, the food was tasty. The service staff were really attentive at first but slacked off at time went on.

Every dish we ordered was well prepared and full of flavor. The Stone Crab was the highlight of the meal--fresh, sweet, and perfectly chilled with a delicious mustard dipping sauce. The Steak Béarnaise was cooked exactly as requested, tender and juicy, and the rich béarnaise sauce complemented it perfectly. The Crab Bisque was creamy, comforting, and packed with real crab flavor without being overly heavy. We also loved the Grilled Seafood Platter, which featured a great variety of seafood that was fresh, perfectly grilled, and seasoned just right. We were seated immediately and the dining room is adequate. Sufficiently decorated to make it okay. It is furnished for maximum occupancy which is fine. Think casual place, almost bar with food, not fancy at all. I do not mean for this to be a negative comment. Hank's presents itself as more of a beachside joint, not a high end seafood restaurant. Each of these sorts of restaurants has a place in the spectrum. Our waiter - Keith or Kevin - I'm so sorry but I cannot remember his name - was GREAT! Funny, good at his job, great personality and helpful. He started out with a corny, but cute, joke and he kept getting better all night. The manager too was quite good, professional and friendly. What a great staff! The food is good. I could talk about the lobster bisque (a bit on the strong side) or the flounder (a bit on the salty side). But, honestly, the food was good and I enjoyed it a lot. I did not complain about any of it nor do I think a complaint was necessary. So, as I said before, it had been years since I had last eaten at Hank's. But it won't be that long anymore. I recommend Hank's for a casual seafood meal.

The standout for me was the salmon slider-- the sauce was so good I wish I ordered more. Great vibe for a casual happy hour. I'd definitely come back, especially for the $1 oysters.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

Our waitress read the room immediately. With a very hungry pregnant lady at the table she prioritized the Parker house rolls without being asked. This kind of attention to detail sets the tone. We later learned she was a fellow Cancer with a birthday coming up. Cancer energy is real!!! The food and drinks did not disappoint. Asparagus, calamari, shrimp cocktail, coal roasted oysters, chicken chermoula, and lump crab gratin. Worth every penny. One tip worth sharing, ask for a bit of sea salt for the chicken. The first taste lacked it and that small addition made all the difference. We were five deep which honestly matched the energy of most tables around us. The nduja pork oysters were amazing. Crave-worthy and memorable taste. Definitely a dish worth coming back for. The jumbo lump crab gratin was quite yum. We really appreciated that it was truly a crab dish - not something that was primarily cheese with just a bit of crab in it. The fries were...fries. Perfectly fine, nothing amazing. It's a lovely thing to wander through before heading in to eat just a few feet away. The setting itself doesn't feel like Washington at all. With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations. There's also a fun Virginia peanut-centric theme running through the menu.

The shrimp hush puppies were just hush puppies; it was not worth the price. The Hawaiian poke looked beautiful, but was just okay. We ordered the lamb chops and curry. It took an HOUR for us to get our food. When it came my lamb chops definitely did not look like they were worth $60; they were extremely small and did not have a lot of meat on them. My best friend said her curry was fine, but it was nothing special. Our waiter was nice, but we often found ourselves trying to look for him and waiting for him to return to our table. The manager originally told us we could have our drinks free (a Shirley temple and a virgin mojito). We had to advocate for ourselves and ask for at least an appetizer off because we had waited an hour for our food. Overall, this place is nice for aesthetics but not for food quality and quantity. My best friend also asked for her food to be boxed and never received the boxed food. We waited so long to get our servers attention throughout the night, so we decided to just leave without the boxed food.
