When the server finally took our drink order, I had to ask about any specials for the day. We ordered our food when she returned with our drinks, but the food took 45 minutes to arrive, for two people. White wine glasses with residue on them for our bottle of red wine. Swordfish which sat under the heat lamp so long it left an outline on the plate. Prime rib ordered rare, again, under the heat lamp too long, served medium. I love this place! Everything is so fresh! The salads are huge, and I highly recommend the black bean soup and the clam chowder! They taste homemade! I always get the filet, and it has always been cooked to my liking. The seasonings they put on their steaks is so good and unique too! The broccoli and potato au gratin is so yummy and cheesy! However, be aware that their sides are meant to share or to take home for leftovers! The deserts are out of this world! My family always chooses a couple to share as we can't pick just one! The creme brûlée, the chocolate cake, the cheesecake, and the pie. The service is also always phenomenal as they are very accommodating and helpful! I visited Del Frisco's to celebrate my birthday and was really looking forward to the experience. The service was truly excellent. Our servers were friendly, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of the entire time. I ordered the ribeye steak, which was just okay. But not quite as flavorful or memorable as I had hoped. My friend ordered the fried shrimp and unfortunately as shrimp lovers, we weren't fans of that dish at all. The Caesar salad dressing is made in-house, which I usually appreciate, but it had a very oily taste and didn't quite hit the mark for anyone at our table. On a brighter note, the strawberry lemon drop cocktail was really good! Wow!!! Not like a good wow. Just wow. Why do people think this place is worth a bare minimum $60 per person for a meal? I really was hoping for much better as my wife had been talking about Del Frisco's and wanting to go back for a very long time but she and our son were also disappointed with our food here tonight. The food was all amateur level here. The staff was very courteous and attentive. We never ran out of anything and they checked on us often. I tipped her over 20% on a $150 check as result of good service. The kitchen staff either doesn't know how to season steaks or perhaps just forgot to season ours. Our very basic house salads had way too much dressing already applied that we couldn't even finish them. Our baked potatoes were just plain potatoes that were washed, wrapped in foil and baked. Skin was soggy. Butter and sour cream. Wow. Our Ribeyes had no sear although they were cooked to perfect temperature inside as if they were cooked Sous Vide style but skipped the searing off step at the end. They appeared as they could've even just been boiled in water. Very little seasoning. Sad. Ribeyes deserve more dignity than that. It was a pretty good cut. They arrived on extremely hot plates (similar to Ruth Chris) except were swimming in boiling butter and evidence of some kind of seasoning but was not enough to affect the taste. Their Ribeyes are $55/ea. The value seemed it should be less than half of that. I've had expensive steaks that had very good taste and you could cut with a fork. I could not cut this one with a fork. We met some friends for dinner here and the food was not good at all. I ordered the black bean soup and it was mostly broth. The server that brought it out just plopped it and the garnishes right in front on me. Several of our dishes were cold. My husband ordered rib eye and asparagus, and his ribeye came out when everyone was almost finished with their food. The rib eye was burnt. He also never received his asparagus. We have been to multiple times ti Del Frisco's (DF) in Philadelphia and it was spectacular. So sad that this Louisville location can't compare. The meal tasted just better than a cafeteria. We happened to have eaten ate at Capitol Grille (GH) the night prior and Del Frisco's was such a let down. We thought it would be at par or better. The bread was old and stale and seemed straight off a grocery store shelves vs fresh. The difference of the CG lobster bisque to the DF version was night and day. Del Frisco's bisque is imitation lobster at best - seems unethical to claim it as lobster. The bisque was better but ruined by the lack of actual lobster. The New York steak was the best of the options our party was served. Del Frisco's Trio and the Filet Mignon 8-10oz werr so smothered in butter you couldn't taste the flavor of the meat. The steak knives were delivered after the meal arrived and all just seemed rushed and dumped vs served. Had to ask for knives, fresh ground pepper, etc. The wine list was adequate and the Strawberry Lemongrass Cosmo tasted like watered down cough syrup, so had to let that sit. Caesar Salad tasted like all oil vs anything else. Creme Brulee had nice berries on it, not much flavor otherwise and crust was too think. Ambiance was non existent when you are seated in the back corner of the back room even with a reservation. Doesn't live up to the price point paid at almost $150/person. Potatoes Au Gratin, good. My wife birthday was last week and me and her made it a goal a year or so ago that on our birthdays and special occasions we was going to try a new fancy reputable steakhouse in our area. So del friscos was up next on our list. We weee able to call early in the morning and get a same day reservation right at 5pm opening. The interior is very intimate with very low lighting and modern decor. We started off with a calamari appetizer. While waiting for our app they offer up there complimentary bread which is phenomenal. Very fresh and great flavor. I'd say top 5 Dinner roll/bread I've had before. The calamari came out and it had a nice flavor. Very crispy and the marinara was a classic taste. A lot of places overthink calamari sauce when sometimes old fashioned marinara does the trick. For our entrees I got the ribeye and my wife got the New York strip. Both steaks came out cooked the way ordered. Which is always a plus. My ribeye was very tender and had a nice flavor. The topping had like a garlic buttery sauce on top which was a unique twist for a ribeye. My wife new York strip she said was phenomenal. I tried a bite and she was right. Very tender with a nice crisp. I actually enjoyed it more than my ribeye and I'm usually always a ribeye person. Our our service was top notch. My wife received a complimentary birthday cake which was a good size and easily fed us both. Very nice free birthday treat. I did get an after dinner cocktail callers grasshopper which is a mint chocolate alcoholic drink. For those who love mint chocolate (guilty) this is a great drink. Was very satisfied with it. It was spicy and tasted like something I would get a Costco. I really enjoy bisque and get it almost everytime I'm at a restaurant, I was hoping for something closer to what Ruby's serves. This is my favorite place for happy hour in Louisville. It starts at 4 PM so it's a nice early happy hour and then all of their appetizers are half price. It's very cozy with good lighting and feels upscale... But you don't really have to be super dressed up to hang out in the bar. I would have to say my favorite appetizer is the calamari. I feel like it's the best in the city because I've tried a lot of calamari. The rings are very thick and the batter is very light, and the portion is very generous. It is really delicious! When we went last time, I took a friend and they really enjoyed it and we just ate like kings! This is also a great place to just have a nice fancy dinner or go on a date, but you do have the option to just hang out in the bar for happy hour which I really appreciate! To celebrate a big win professionally, my husband treated me to a family dinner at Del Frisco's. We had reservations for 4 on Friday evening and were seated right away upon arrival. From beginning to end the service was stellar. It's clear the employees work as a team and strive to provide an incredible dining experience. Atmosphere-wise, Del Frisco's - even with a move to a new location - feels old school, but not in an upscale "classic" way. Instead it reminded me of the downtown hotels before their renovation. It's dimly lit with dark wooden decor and minimal decor. We were tucked into the back of the restaurant where I looked at a wall for the evening. Very boring and I found myself wishing we'd picked another steakhouse for atmosphere alone. The meal was enjoyable; however, the only thing we've all talked about since the dinner was the complimentary bread. We ate a lot of that! Three of us got tossed salads and while the portion was plentiful, each of us had browning lettuce mixed in the bowl. Of the 4 sides we enjoyed the onion rings but left the steak fries, asparagus and broccoli au gratin sitting. The broccoli was extremely peppery and none of us would eat more than the first bite. Each of us got different cuts of steaks. My choice was the filet mignon medallions which came with a choice of 3 add on butters. I ordered it medium well which was still fairly pink and made me thankful I didn't request medium. Each medallion was 4 Oz and very soft texture-wise. All of our plates were very hot and the steaks were sitting it a large amount of butter/oil. After awhile that became unappetizing. If ordering again I'd choose a thicker cut of steak to combat the ratio of butter to meat. Overwhelming. We ended with a slice of NY cheesecake because my kids hadn't eaten it before. Decent portion. It had been many years since I had eaten at Del Frisco's and my husband had never been so I made surprise birthday dinner reservations here a few weeks ago for him. First- they are in a completely different location than my last visit. The building now is much larger and it is quite nice though it is a bit "old school." We ordered a bottle of red wine, the calamari and the lobster bisque soup to start. The soup was amazing and the calamari texture and portion size were great too. They are known for their steaks so we both wanted filet. Daniel ordered the trio of 4 ounce filets topped with various delicious things like truffle butter and crab. I had the swordfish and filet combo and we shared a side of the green phunque. All of the sides are a-la-carte unless otherwise noted. The steaks were prepared well and we had so much food that we had to box about half to take home. The server brought out a white birthday cake with vanilla icing for the bday boy. It was basic but tasty. Though we had a lovely experience- it was expensive (about $265 after tip) for two people. Our service was good, the food was good (not outstanding) and the atmosphere was nice but nothing remarkable. This was my first time dining at Del Frisco's. As a life-long resident of Louisville, I've always been well aware of DF's reputation in the steakhouse community here. It's a staple in the restaurant scene and has a loyal following. I was disappointed. I do not like restaurants that are so dark that you need to use the flashlight on your phone to see the menu. I also don't like being unable to see food clearly. Plating is part of presentation and if there's a bug or a hair on the plate, I want to know. Bar doesn't stock Finlandia but Absolut was fine for my martini. The yeast bread was baked in house and delicious, even slightly warm still at 6:30. The menu did not advise that there are half-portion size options for salads. Thankfully the server told us. We received great table service from Wade. The runner who delivered our plates was courteous and efficient. Caesar dressing tasted great, made, I think in house. For entree, I ordered Beef Tournedos. I was a bit surprised when asked how I wanted the beef tips cooked, because I didn't think there was a way to cook them like a whole cut, but I ordered them medium rare. They came out well done, not one piece even slightly pink in the center (used cell phone flashlight to see). The potatoes duchess were prepared incorrectly. The were piped (star tip bag) well, but the potatoes weren't baked off to create a very slight, thin crust. They were just mashed potatoes plated creatively. The potatoes were suspicious for being instant flake. Dessert was great - Brandy Alexander, not seen on menus very often any more. Might go back. As far as Covid restrictions go, the staff were wearing masks. However, The manager, and I'm assuming that was him because he was wearing a sport coat, came by tables and leaned over and asked how the service was going while his entire nose was hanging out of his mask. The restaurant was packed. When we arrived there was only one open table. Tables have no partitions, and no spacing between tables. No way that was 50% capacity and definitely not spaced on the side of the restaurant were on. For example two chairs were removed from our table and it was so close to the table next to us that there was no way to fit two other chairs or have the people back out. When they left they had to pull their table away to get out. I was disappointed with my cocktail. It did not taste good, something was off. I requested a wine list and ordered a glass of wine. We ordered the tossed salad for the beginning of our meal. I would bet you what I spent on my meal, that this salad came from a bag. It tasted just like a bagged salad. The best part of the salad was the homemade croutons and the fresh tomato and cucumber that they placed on the side. I would not recommend ordering the tossed salad at all. As for the steak, my husband ordered a New York strip and I ordered a fillet. It's impressive that it comes out on a sizzling plate, but that is where the excitement ends. Both were great cuts of meat and cooked to our specifications. However, as this was our first time I had no idea that the steak would come out swimming and covered in butter. I'm assuming they drowned the steaks this way because otherwise they lack any flavor. My husband and I both took our hot plates carefully with a napkin and dumped about a quarter inch of butter onto our bread plates. We have plenty to have time to do this because our steaks were brought without our side nor a steak knife. As the sides were brought later, I had to ask for a steak knives. The baked potato was overcooked and served in foil. The inside was very dense and gummy. Neither of us were able to eat but a few bites. I was really excited to try the new place because I had never eaten here before and was disappointed I missed it before it was closed and moved. Now I know I will never go back and wished that I had chosen to spend my money at a much better steakhouse. What happened? The service and steaks used to be top notch at the original restaurant. This was my first visit to the Hurstborne location. From the exterior facade to the interior seating and design, everything looked upscale and beautiful. On a Wednesday night the restaurant was busy at 6, but definitely not packed or full. We were seated outside the main dining area and were the only group in that row of tables. We had a reservation and the four of us were seated promptly. That's the point everything went downhill. After being seated we waited a decent amount of time before our drink order was taken. With menus in hand, we ordered an appetizer when drinks were delivered. We STILL had the menu in our hands when the appetizer was delivered. We placed our dinner order at that - approximately 30 - 45 minutes after being seated. All at the table ordered steaks and a side dish. It took another 30-40 minutes before our meal arrived. The server did not deliver the dishes ordered and did not check on the delivery for quite awhile - long enough that items were asked for from another server passing by. The filet was good. The ribeye was tough without much flavor as it had little marbling. The scalloped potatoes were spicy as if cayenne pepper or Tabasco sauce was part of the receipt. They definitely weren't the creamy or cheesy version expected and desired. Anyone with an aversion to spices shouldn't order. All sides are large enough to be shared ny two which would have been nice to have pointed out by the waiter at time of ordering. The bill for two meals, two sides, one appetizer and two alcoholic drinks and one tea was almost $250. I understand staffing is tight and restaurant food costs have increased greatly BUT for this amount of money service should be exceptional and the food amazing. Neither came close. Sad that this iconic place which we had enjoyed so much has been modernized and the once marvelous steak flavor diminished to just average. Easier to eat. Taste was a traditional French Onion soup which I love. Less chance I had of getting it all over me. Steaks - average to below average. We both had filets (my wife paired hers with salmon which I will get to next). Average quality but I would consider below average when my 8oz steak was just over $50, al la carte. We also ordered their peppercorn butter for each. First it was forgotten. They then took the steaks back, added it and brought it back. To say underwhelming would be an understatement. I was expecting something like a small side of the butter but instead is was a patter of butter on each steak and I could not discern the peppercorn part very much. It was also an $8 add on. Salmon - not fresh. My wife loves and eats salmon when we go out. She could not eat it due it not being fresh. Very disappointing. Particularly since she has had other salmon at Malone's and other local places that was very good. With the UPS air hub here we should not have fish that is not fresh. In fairness to the restaurant, they took this part of the meal price off the dinner (still worked out to $100 per person). Broccoli au gratin - best part of the meal. Enjoyed it. French fries - undercooked and soggy. For the price we should have perfect fries. Desserts - this was the worst of it all (though the fish is not far behind). We had both a piece of the chocolate cake and carrot cake. We took them home and opened them about 90 minutes after dinner. We were told they were the best desserts on the menu First they were extremely small and even a piece of the edge of each cake was missing. On top of that they were extremely dry. I mean extremely dry....like the Sahara. The icing was separating from the cake part for both pieces and was like a solid piece on each layer. It was like they were bought at store and kept in the fridge for way too long. If they were made on premise, then they were the worst ever. If they bought them, they need to get a better vendor. They also cost $14 for each slice. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. You have Malone's (always a consistently good experience), Jeff Ruby's, Ruth Chris, Stoney River and, now, Capital Grille (favorite go to restaurant before we moved here) to have, in my opinion, a much better experience. There was no mention of the birthday celebration by anyone at the restaurant. That was disappointing. First, service was very good. The manager spent a lot of time in the dining room. Food: it was just okay. Steaks were not seasoned and the kabob was way over cooked. Ordered medium. At best it was medium well, more like well done. My husbands NY strip had probably 5 oz fat and gristle. Broccoli au gratin was made with whole florets. Tasted good, but I've never seen a casserole with whole florets. I bring people here to celebrate special occasions or accomplishments. They have the best calamari in Louisville - try it! The filet is always great and for birthday they celebrate with a mini personal birthday cake! The seats are comfortable and you can easily talk and communicate - I love all the wood paneling - very elegant. I highly recommend Del Frisco's. read more

Service was great, but for the money..... Meh. Prime Rib was tender but tasted like it has onion soup mix on it. Way too expensive for what you get. Go to NYC and eat at Smith & Wollensky's! Now they know how to do Prime Rib!!!! read more
