Everything was amazing!! We went on a Saturday and they had a live singer. I got the calamari appetizer and the lamp chops. The service was quick, but the food was still hot and fresh or in case of the salad with the calamari cool and refreshing. I shared a lamb chop since it was my friend's first time and she said she's coming back just for those. It was nice and airy, we were seated by stage and was able to interact with the singer between songs. read more

Awful. This restaurant honestly perplexed me. It gives they want to be upscale but lack the quality. Not even sure what cuisine they are going for. The menu has a bit of everything but in a confusing way. It is like they are trying to be a fusion restaurant but not actually fusing the dishes. They have cheese dip, to croquettas, a lot of seafood, Italian dishes, fajitas, pasta to ribs. Lol it is insane. I think this is why the food was awful and not prepared well. The chefs can't keep up. Jack of all trades, master of none? I got the ribeye and it was not cook to my temperature and the veggies were soggy as all get out. My friend got a pasta and barely touched it. The drinks were okay. But overall one of the worst experiences I have had to date. The decor is modern. Service couldn't make up for the bad experience. read more

Celebrating the 26th wedding anniversary and this restaurant did so much more than satisfy. The inside is open and attractive. The color pallet, consideration of sight lines and communal feeling was perfect. I expected a loud environment due to the openness, but it was cozy. We were greeted by the lovely and charming Patricia who ensured our evening was memorable. All of the staff stopped to say hi, check in and make sure we were taken care of. However, it wasn't because of our special event. It is just the nature of the staff. They made sure all patrons were looked after. The bar menu is abundant and includes multiple house cocktails and there is great happy hour menu as well as daily specials. We enjoyed the ribeye with cheese grits and seasonal vegetables and chicken Marsala. Everything was delicious and arrived at the table in under 15 minutes. We hope to return to enjoy the live music sessions soon. Definitely will be back and highly recommend thjs restaurant. read more

When we asked about mocktails, there was only the option of piña colada and mojito. Piña colada with dinner? I asked if they could make something with ginger beer and they said no. We were literally the only table in the place for a good hour (3 of us) and they couldn't look up a drink recipe? It was bazaar. I ordered the Greek salad and it was 90% raw peppers with a couple pieces of lettuce and tomato, also so odd. The other 2 at my table ordered the filet, both medium rare and they looked totally different temps. Steaks were a little tough, mojitos were good, the server was awkward and slow, the volcano cake has a weird name, it's just a 4 layer cake with choc mouse, nothing volcano or lava about it. $207 for mediocre food, service... we won't be back. I was never in this building when it was Mellow Mushroom, so I don't know how much has changed, but walking in you definitely feel like you arent on Bardstown Road anymore. The whole thing is done in black and gold and is very nightclub-esque. The service was good except I had a server who I dont think English was his first language because he kept calling me "lady", which was odd and kind of funny. My table ordered the Croquettes, which were amazing, and the Lava Dip with chorizo which was good but messy. My entree was the Salmon burger with old bay mayo, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato. After the apps I didn't eat much of it but it was good and was even better the next day. I would definitely go back and try this place again! read more

The décor of this restaurant is just beautiful with blacks and golds. Each place setting adorned with crystal-looking gold edged glassware and the black/red roses hanging from the ceiling give it a elegant goth feel. Our server was high energy, super friendly and extremely attentive. We started with one of their signature drinks, the Violet Lilly. Served in a rose shaped glass, the purple hue matched the floral notes in the drink. It was unique, tasty but on the smaller side of a drink. For appetizers, we went with the Cuban croquettes and there were about 10 elongated tater tot shaped croquettes with a delicious pink sauce. The croquettes were creamy, cheesy and delicious and the sauce elevated the dish. My hubby and I split the chicken parmesan as we weren't super hungry and it was enough for both of us, I didn't even finish mine. The chicken was pounded thin and had a light, crispy, but airy coating on it that was seasoned nicely. The side pasta had a very unique flavor, I can't figure out what it was, but it was amazing. It wasn't heavily coated in sauce, but just enough and with the flavor profile, it didn't need more. This was some of best chicken parmigiana we've ever had. Son had the Bourbon Star with baby potatoes and vegetables. Unfortunately, that dish wasn't as good. It wasn't hot, more like luke-warm and the steak was not medium rare, closer to medium with a decent well done sized ring around the edges. The meat itself was a bit tough and chewy. The baby potatoes were very good, though, sliced in half, seasoned nicely and with a crisp outer coating. The other veggies were also nice. My hubby and I would go back again, if for nothing else, the chicken parm and fantastic service. read more

This place is a whole vibe! It's classy yet hip, and their presentation is on point! There is a bar downstairs and upstairs, and there's a ton of seating up and down for the restaurant. They have live music on the second floor, and it really sets the mood! My husband went there for date night, and it was fun and still romantic! The service was great! They gave great recommendations, and everything came out in a timely manner. We ordered the margarita flight, the Irish coffee, and the house margarita for drinks. They were all very tasty, and they have yummy options for the margaritas! If you have a group of people, they also offer shot flights served in an airplane, and they have a margarita tree! As our appetizers, we ordered the ferris wheel sampler and the lava cheese dip and chips with chorizo. Both were absolutely delicious! The ferris wheel is fun and has a bunch of great options on it. Loved this restaurant! We were greeted graciously by the host staff and seated quickly. We were seated upstairs in the room past the bar. The restaurant is lit just right and has wonderful decor. Our server Ruth was outstanding! She answered our menu questions and even shared brief conversation about the live piano player (she was outstanding!). I had the Chicken Marsala and my spouse had the Chicken Parmesan. We shared a little of each other's entrees. Each dish was absolutely amazing! One of the best Chicken Parmesan entrees I've ever had. We had appetizers that we shared and everything tasted good. For my entree, I got the salmon. It came with rice and vegetables. Everything was excellent. Our server was great as well. I am writing to provide feedback regarding a recent dining experience at Beyond the Sun establishment. My party and I visited on January 11th to celebrate my girlfriend's 60th birthday, and while we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and the initial service, particularly from our server, Rafael, I felt it was important to bring one specific incident to your attention. Rafael was, for the most part, truly outstanding. He was exceptionally professional, demonstrated an impressive knowledge of the menu, and was largely very attentive throughout our visit. We were a party of five, and after ordering a round of cocktails and an appetizer while we perused the menu, we were quite pleased with our experience. However, during what should have been a seamless ordering process, a moment occurred that significantly detracted from our celebration. As my girlfriend, the guest of honor, was in the midst of placing her main course order, Rafael's attention was abruptly diverted by another table. He then proceeded to leave our table mid-sentence to assist them. This left my girlfriend quite literally mid-word, suspended in an unfinished sentence, while he attended to others. While I understand that busy environments can present challenges, this particular interruption, especially during such a significant personal moment for our birthday girl, felt like a considerable lapse in service. It was an unfortunate misstep in an otherwise pleasant evening, and it felt particularly jarring given Rafael's otherwise impeccable service. It was, as I noted internally, a 'fatal flaw' from an otherwise exemplary young man. I wanted to bring this to the managers attention as constructive feedback. We genuinely appreciated Rafael's professionalism and knowledge, and I believe with a minor adjustment to his prioritization during order-taking, he could elevate his service even further. The drinks are really good. So I highly recommend the alcoholic drinks. Cheers to the bartender. They definitely did their thing. The food? My order was horrible. I was at a table of SIX PEOPLE. We ordered food at different times throughout night. It should not have been overwhelming at all for the waiter nor the cook. Nor was it busy. The naked fried wings tasted like they were dipped in toilet water. They were bland. No seasoning at all. Not even salt and pepper were used to cook them. Highly do NOT recommended unless you are a sauce person. Dipped in sauce definitely helps with the taste. And you will be charged for the sauce on the side. My husband got the fettuccine Alfredo. He enjoyed it. I thought the grilled chicken was a little hard and again no seasoning. However, the fettuccine was not nearly as bad as the wings. The menu states the gratuity is added for parties of EIGHT or more. However it was automatically added for our party of 6. I was already leaving at least a 20% tip even though the service was mediocre. However, this added to the side eye I was giving due to the type of service we were already receiving. Im curious to know if this is truly a new policy and just has not been updated on their menu yet. The service. The manager was attentive and very open to feedback which I appreciated. The waiter was okay.. No real negative complaints and no outstanding remarks. I enjoyed the music. They played something for everyone to enjoy. Very diverse. Would I come back again? Yes.. just would probably not get any food. Would I recommend this place for others to try? Yes... To form your own opinion. Especially because the drinks were so good. Pros: staff was nice and the drinks were cute Cons: limited parking in the rear, but come to find out you can park at Walgreens and Taco Bell (which I didn't see this noted on their site would have helped) The seating is very close together to everyone else, so not much privacy to your own party / group. The main thing- I read the reviews prior to going and saw that the reoccurring thing was the food wasn't so good, even though it had 4.2 dating on open table, I figured I still give it a shot. Well unfortunately the food was not good. I ordered the machi machi - it was just okay, vegetables undercooked. My friends ordered fajitas, I tried some it lacked seasoning, and the twilight fettuccine - the chicken was chewy and rubbed / hard - disgusting. For the price of these dishes, the food was not good at all. I wouldn't recommend this place because of the food. I didn't even finish my plate. read more

For starters, only certain items can be ordered at the table, the ones I wanted you could only order at the bar. Secondly, it seemed a bit unorganized for our party and tight space. Now the food .where do I begin? First $25 for tacos? No. Things are overpriced almost as if you are paying for the decor. The whole menu should be available and it isn't. Also there's not enough variety and none of us got full. We were a party of 16. I think that they need to tweak their prices and menu, especially for the money that's being asked. read more

Gosh, this place was really impressive. We had a group of 18 and service was on point. One person ordered the guac and was blown away by it, so was getting excited about the food to come! I didn't drink, but several in our party mentioned how phenomenal the bloody Mary's were. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries and was very impressed. I ate every bite! I was very surprised to see the negative reviews when I brought up Yelp to write a review. My wife and I went down early for a dinner reservations to another Resturant with the plan of finding a place for drinks before our appointed diner time. We did not know about Beyond the Sun until we walked by it. We walked in and was greated by a friendly staff who were more than happy to let us set at the bar. Our bar tenders were friendly and attentive, we enjoyed several drinks, all of the made perfectly. Since we had reservations at another Resturant we did not try the food, but based on the crowd of patrons setting in the Resturant, the place is popular. We said our good bys and have planned to make reservations at Beyond the Sun for a date night in the future. read more

We were really excited to try this restaurant. We made a reservation for 7 PM, and arrived a couple of minutes early. When we arrived, we were informed that they had overbooked and that a table would not be ready for 30 minutes. We were OK with that and sat at the bar. However, we were not sat until 830, and that was only after asking about it several times. The staff was clearly overwhelmed. We did not get our food until 930, the menu there was very different than the menu online. The portions were small and about half of the food was cold. They did offer us a 25% discount on the food after we asked. Unfortunately, I would not recommend returning until they have things a little bit more stabilized. read more

I was surprised to see yelp had such a low rating so I started reading through the 3 star and under reviews and IMO it seems to me like a group of people gave bad reviews due to a tip being automatically added to their bill. What I saw in the bad reviews was not what we experienced last night. It is common for nicer places to add a tip to the bill for large groups so I don't see any issue with this at all. If you don't want to tip then eat at fast service places. Waiters and waitresses make below minimum wage, their primary income comes from tips. If you can't afford it, eat at places with no wait staff. The drinks were amazing and the food was great. Fajitas, mac and cheese, burgers, wings, nachos were all top notch, ranch dressing was a little bland but still good. The wings should come with a dip but our waiter brought it out with no issue at all. A little pricey but all was good and the ambiance was great, we missed the live music but that would have been even better. Our waiter did a excellent job as well. read more
