From the atmosphere to dessert our dining experience was simply perfection. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. You must order the bread with the house Cajun butter. It is delicious and you'll wish you ordered two. The octopus with the charred onion aïoli is a dish we'd definitely come back for. Our dining group of 10 convened here for a weeknight dinner following an earlier pre-dinner cocktail at the rooftop bar. Most of us had parked in the pay lot next to the property and some used valet parking. Accessibility could be an issue for some patrons. The waiting area and the interior spaces of this venue are quite striking, both architecturally and with regard to decor. Lighting fixtures were uniquely spectacular. I did not particularly care for the majority of the seating options due to bench type seating and almost half of our group had to do the scoot, scoot, scoot to be in place. The upholstered chairs on the other half of the dining table were also uncomfortable. Maybe they don't want large groups? Or for customers to linger? Menu had a fair variety of options, but not extensive. Overall, I felt it was a bit pretentious and overpriced. I had a glass of wine, salted roasted beet salad, and fish of the day. None of my menu choices wowed me and likewise other members of our dining group echoed this sentiment. I had to request a correction to my final ticket due to being charged for an additional glass of wine. Noise level was moderate when space was at 1/2 capacity, likely contributing to that level is the open air kitchen. Dining experience was okay, but highly likely am one-and-done with this location when contemplating where I would choose to spend a special occasion. Amazing meal at Bourre Bonne Friday night. Made a reservation using Open Table. A Hostess called to confirm the reservation and noted that we were celebrating our daughter's 22nd birthday and asked how they could make it special. Well, without knowing what to ask for, they set us up in Kevin's lovely table in an elevated little corner overlooking the kitchen & dining room. Levi was our server and so charming. He really took care of us. The atmosphere is kind of sexy & swanky with really good DJ style music in the background -- not loud or intrusive. The food was also amazing. We ate and drank and managed to spend over $400 for the 3 of us, but it was worth every cent. Had a nightcap at the rooftop bar, which I can't wait to visit when the weather improves. We had dinner at Bourré Bonne and, unfortunately, it was disappointing. While the space itself is absolutely stunning and the service very attentive, those were the only highlights of the evening. For the price point, the wine and food simply do not measure up -- and charging $12 for a draft beer only adds to the frustration. The wine list is average at best yet priced as if it were top tier, and the food followed the same pattern. We began with the smoked fish dip, which was the most flavorful dish of the night and deserving of a 4/5. The salt-roasted beets, however, were lackluster -- bland cheese, minimal flavor from the beets, and nothing that would inspire a repeat order. The most disappointing dish was the lobster mac and cheese. The base dish is $18, with a lobster add-on for $30, bringing the total to $48. Our server assured us this included a full lobster tail, but that was not the case. The plate arrived with only a decorative lobster fin on top, and the amount of lobster in the dish was minimal. To make matters worse, what lobster was present was fishy and tough -- clear signs it was not fresh. For $48, this dish should be a standout; instead, it was embarrassing to see it on the menu at that quality. With so many incredible local restaurants in Louisville -- such as Jack Fry's and North of Bourbon -- it's hard to see how Bourré Bonne will succeed long term. Its only chance may be with out-of-town guests who don't know any better. read more

We had lobster bisque, beef tartar, wagyu strip, lamb chops, brussel sprouts, and tempura shrooms. The tartar had a slight kick to it but was good... served with kettle chips, toasted baguettes, and crackers. We got the shrooms because they were something different and was pleasantly surprised... a medley of mushrooms deep fried. The lamb chops and wagyu strip were both perfectly cooked and tender. We had dinner in the steakhouse tonight since we're staying in the hotel. The hotel and restaurant are new, modern, and high tech enterprises. Everything is attractive and well conceived. Our table was ready on time, when we arrived. Our server arrived quickly and was always around when we needed him. The menu is classic steakhouse, with the expected apps, soups, salads, steaks, and a variety of entrees. We went light, each having the French onion soup and a wedge salad. The soup was great and the salad good. We also had the croissant rolls, a decadent creation. There's a very good wine list, with broad sections and prices consistent with the quality of the establishment. We shared a nice California Chardonnay. The only area for criticism was the background music, which was 'energetic', meaning suited for a clientele much younger than us. The only thing that came through the crowd noise was the upbeat bass. I love trying new places, and trying a new high end restaurant is a special treat. I'm surprised to say this place simply was below the standard of its price point. Don't get me wrong, there are things to like. It's a lovely room, though I can't imagine them ever being able to fill it. The Croissant Loaf was excellent. But not much else was up to standard. My lobster bisque was weirdly bland. My filet was properly cooked to the medium rare I requested. But weirdly, it somehow managed to be dry in spite of not being overcooked. That was mystifying to me. Our service was not up to standards either. Our server gave poor direction regarding portion sizes. They indicated some dishes were big enough to be shared when that was clearly not the case. Conversely, one dessert was more than enough for several people, and this was not disclosed. And the overall service was simply not polished in the way one would expect from a place at this level. In a town with places like Jeff Ruby's, Morton's, Ruth's Chris, and quite a few others, this place is simply not good enough to earn a return visit. read more

This may be the new gold standard for steak in Louisville. We are Jeff Ruby's and Steak & Bourbon apologists but the NYE meal we had here was nothing short of spectacular. The service is also excellent but I'm talking about the food. Melt-in-your-mouth steaks, unbelievable sides - we had the Wagyu Fries, Brussels Sprouts, and Twice-baked Potato. French Onion Soup, Caesar Salad, and the Croissant Loaf appetizer were all divine. They have an Old Fashioned cart where they will make them - and smoke them - tableside, which is a neat touch. Professional, thoughtful. The managers and chef always go over and above. You don't see that kind of customer service very often anymore. Decor? Stunning, beautiful tones of blues, purples and green with plush seating, big windows, gorgeous lighting and an open concept kitchen. You feel like you're stepping into an Architectural Digest feature. It's immersive and dreamy! Dining? The food, the food, the food! It's truly next level, delicious, well prepared, fresh. One of the best restaurants in the city. The steaks and seafood really shine. So far, each time we have truly dined like kings: Tomahawk Ribeye - huge, perfect flavor, beautiful presentation. Bone in Filet- melted like butter in our mouths, so tender and perfectly cooked. Lobster Bisque- stellar. A delicate little pile of lobster arrived placed beautifully in the bowl. Next, the server poured out the soup from a tiny teapot. I loved it, and the soup was terrific, perfect consistency with lots of flavor and depth. Broccoli Pistachio Casserole- definitely one of the best things I've ever eaten. Rich, creamy, light and a little extra something. Yum! A lovely twist on a classic. Desserts- the pastry chef here is top-notch. I love the lemon crème de pot... it's like eating a cloud. I could devour a whole bowl if they'd let me! You can use the lot next to the hotel, valet or park on the street. So convenient! Other spots downtown are such a hassle. Not here. My niece and I attended their Kentucky Style Holiday Tea Service. I am a lover of any and everything afternoon tea and this was quite enchanting. The tra sandwiches had a Kentucky spin as did the delicate pastries and they were delicious. The specialty cocktails were also. Santa was fantastic playing Happy Birthday by sax to us and also playing a variety of Christmas songs. I'd like to especiallu mention the male server who served my niece and I celebrating our December Christmas birthdays. He was so attentive as we dined, but he also provided much needed assistance in our departure with me in my walker. His kindness and extra effort meant the world to us and will not soon be forgotten. We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat there, too. We both had the wedge salad with tomato, onions, and bacon. I really like that it wasn't on a chilled plate and wasn't ice cold. I ordered a steak, well done, with Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious. My husband had ahi tuna and said it was wonderful. The croissant loaf was amazing. I had asked about a specific drink I like and they made a drink that was very tasty. Edwin said to give it a try and if I didn't like it they would try something else. We were waited on by Edwin primarily but so many came to give water, clear dishes or just ask how things were. The room had soothing colors and comfortable chairs. I usually like to sit in a booth but did not feel the least bit uncomfortable at our table. I've been to other restaurants where they really pack you in and are so loud you can't hear each other. Have you ever had food so good it makes you want to cry? That is exactly how I would describe the steakhouse at Hotel Bourre Bonne in Louisville. Every dish was layered with so much flavor that it genuinely felt emotional in the best way. I ate gluten free and Byron guided me through the menu with incredible care and knowledge. He suggested pairing the salmon with the butternut squash and arugula that normally comes with the tuna dish, and it was hands down the best recommendation ever. The flavors were perfectly balanced and absolutely unforgettable. We also ordered the steak, and as someone whose fiancee truly loves a great steak, this one delivered beyond expectations. It was cooked to absolute perfection with a crust that was nothing short of incredible. The collard greens were perfection, and I do not say that lightly, along with the mac and cheese which was rich and comforting in all the right ways. We sat at the bar where AJ took exceptional care of us, entertained us, and crafted some of the best drinks I have ever had. Between AJ and Byron, I cannot say enough positive things. The drinks were phenomenal, and I tried AJ's infamous Nina Wally. This drink should be a permanent staple on the menu. I am not someone who typically enjoys a lot of alcohol, but this was flawless. I honestly do not know who at Hilton needs to see this, but AJ should be paid to curate the drink menu because the Nina Wally was unlike anything I have ever experienced. This is def one of the nicer dining experiences in Louisville with plenty of areas to host private and intimate dinners. The service was also top notch. The items we selected that we asked if they were shareable, weren't really the size of a normal shareable portion. Compared to other locations, it was not shareable. It had apples because very light and fluffy salad. That was really good. We were downtown to attend a show at the yum center and ignorantly didn't account for long waits at every restaurant. We stumbled upon Bourre Bonne and they had an open table in the bar area. I was very impressed with the ambience and the decor. It has a whole vibe that I am here for. We sat down and waited for a good while before being approached for our drink order. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, so we were trying to be patient. Despite making eye contact with a server several times, it took another 20 minutes or so before someone approached us for our order. The two things I had picked out to order were not available. Fast forward a bit more and our food arrives. We started with the bread and swapped out the bayou butter for truffle butter. This had such potential but we found the bread to be a bit underbaked. It has a lot of potential though and if baked well, would have been the star of the show. (Wild at a steakhouse). My children each ordered the filet. Surprisingly they were cooked as ordered but had zero flavor. My kids must be spoiled to good steak because they knew right away it wasn't worth the price tag. They ate it so as not to waste it but it left much to be desired. I think they mostly enjoyed the Mac and cheese that they ordered but I don't recall them commenting one way or the other. My husband ordered the Pacahna. One of his favorite cuts of meat because of the fat cap. There was nary a bit of fat to be seen (or tasted). Like the filet, there also was no flavor. I ended up going with a the tuna tartare. The taste was decent but you could tell it wasn't super fresh. About half way through eating it, they brought out some fried plantains to go with it. They were fine; it just would have been nice to have them from the beginning. We also ordered truffle fries. I could see the potential but they came out room temp at best. Nobody likes cold fries, so another waste of money. Lastly, the drinks. I had two glasses of white wine. The first came out nice and cold the second was room temp. My husbands beer came out cold so that's good. All in all, this place might be fine for drinks but I'm certain your money will be better spent at another steakhouse. It's not often we eat in a fine dining establishment but we are no strangers to the experience. If we are spending the amount of money that we did, we want it to be worth it from the service, to the experience, and most importantly, the food. Unfortunately, we didn't get any of that on our visit. I only gave two stars because I loved the atmosphere and to have a little grace for being understaffed.
