Walking through town looking for something good to eat, I had the lunch special which is three tacos of your choice and a soft drink. I had one chicken, one pulled pork and a brisket taco. They were extremely soggy, absolutely disgusting. I could not believe it. I never write reviews but this place had me in disgust. Three disgusting soggy tacos. Are they suppose to be soggy? My family always loves Del Fuego! I'm one of those people that likes to order different things on the menu, but I always end up with my go to here: the Taco Trio. They have some different options - pulled pork, brisket, shrimp... my favorite is the fish. I like that it's not fried, but seared with a great slaw on top. It makes me feel like I'm eating something moderately healthy... which I ruin by eating a basket of chips (which they constantly refill) and salsa. If I could rate this lower than 1 star I would. I have never been more disappointed in an experience than I have been today. We ordered over $500 worth of food for a catering order that was promised to be delivered and they never fulfilled the order. We called to ask why the order was not delivered which was verified for a 4pm delivery by the weekday manager to which the weekend manager Chris p. stated they do not fulfill delivery order you must pick it up at 4:30pm. We complied and went to retrieve the order and was told they did not even start making the order at 5:15pm. The staff was disrespectful and verbally threatening when asked for a refund since the experience was not met appropriately and was not going to be fulfilled at all despite being paid for in advance. Unfortunately this was not only disappointing in the sense of not getting your well earned moneys worth but in the sense that this was the wish of a sweet 16 birthday party. Del Fuego is the fantastic I never one to one before and boy will I be going back. I started with the house margarita, chips and guacamole (they keep refilling you with chips and I still brought a good pound or 2 of guacamole back to the home front. My entre was a BBQ brisket enchilada with a side of rice and beans I devoured it like a savage. I practically forced myself to eat the flange for dessert and I'm happy I did it was delicious. To preface this, this was one do the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. Im not saying this to be mean or anything. This place was awful. The sangria was basically dry cheap box wine with like 4 pineapples inside each glass before it was poured in. The tacos were extremely bland and looked like something a child would make at home. I came here with the expectation that the restaurant would be as good as La Tavola in Sayville since the owners were the same. La Tavola is amazing, every meal I've ever gotten there has been fantastic. What a disappointing let down to come to Del Fuego and get such terrible Tex mex food. I have had better tacos at Taco Bell to be completely honest. The only decent thing about it besides the very nice server, was the nachos, they were pretty good. My partner and my mother got the chimichangas and it was a giant fried burrito with dry badly seasoned steak inside. Went here for dinner on taco Tuesday, the place was full but not overly crowded. When you are seated they give you chips and salsa (amazing). I order the grilled veggie burrito and it is everything and more- I usually only eat half because it's so big. It also comes with a tiny side salad but I Iove whatever dressing they put on it (think citrusy). I just left this restaurant not even 20 minutes ago after waiting almost as long for them to acknowledge that my boyfriend's wrap had a piece of PLASTIC in it. This was a hard piece, almost like it was from a broken refrigerator drawer. He bit into it and had to wait for someone to register that we were yelling for assistance. When our waitress finally arrived she said "oh that sucks", took the piece of plastic, and never returned. We sat waiting for management to address the issue and finally left after it was clear no one cared that he could have choked/cut his mouth and clearly had unsanitary food served to him. However I felt very intimidated ordering with my 2 nurse coworkers after work with the horrible customer service by the bartender. We got here at 8:45. They let us come in to sit at the bar. The bartender Gerard tall guy with glasses rushed us to get our order. They told us we would have to order right away because the kitchen would close at 9 so we knew that. No reason to treat customers the way he did. My two ordered and once I ordered mine I also added a side of guac. Gerard literally cursed and added that to the order. At that point I had no desire to order a drink and neither did my other friend. He kept throwing the dishes and took away our food without asking if we were done. So the concept of the restaurant is very fun and the music was good. (Alternative with some folk rock) Service was pretty prompt so no complaints on that front. Then the food... ...was all so flavorful. The salsa had delicious hints of cumin and the sensation of heat while still being rather mild. My wife and I shared the fried avocados which were a nice start. My chimichanga was amazing. It wasnt drenched as some places tend too. Came here last night and had a great time. If you come in on a Friday night be ready to wait as with any place. The wait wasn't too bad for a Friday night, it was around 20-30 minuets. They just don't have any where to stand around while you're waiting. Once we were finally seated and ordered our food there was a huge selection of hot sauces on the wall next to us which was cool. But the food itself was good, large portions, I couldn't finish my fajitas. Went to del fuego on a Friday night around 8:00. It was really busy (obviously, it's Friday) but managed to get a table within 20mins. Ordered just a basic margarita on the rocks, and it literally tasted like nothing. I was super sad because I love margaritas and was stoked to get one from here. However, the food made up for it. Thought I would give this place a second try - big mistake!! I went to del fuego first week they opened and found food to be bland, cold and overall sub par. I figured I would give it another try hoping my first experience was just due to lack of experience. Well my second experience was just as bad if not worse than first one. The decor reminds me of a bootleg chili's , it is dark, small and dirty and the decor was the best part.... The food was absolutely horrendous. The chips were good but the salsa they give with the chips tasted like it comes out of a 55 gallon barrel that is labels salsa flavored sauce. I had a burrito that arrived cold and had the consistency and texture of unflavored oatmeal. There was absolutely no flavor at all!! The first time I went I had the enchiladas which again came out cold, had a terribly disgusting sweet sauce pour over a plate of mush (chicken, beans, rice - it all looked and tasted the same). The margaritas tasted ok but were extremely small and $10 a piece - complete rip off!!! One last thing is their prices are not cheap for the slop they give you. Been to the Del Fuego in St James location on convo de mayo. A few months ago we tried the Babylon location . This review is for the Babylon location. Their salsa/sauce they serve with chips is outstanding. The margaritas taste as though it comes right out of a premixed bottle. A mile away from Del Fuego is Don Richardos, where their margaritos out shine Del Fuego's. The chicken wings appetizer was horrendous the wings came out with feathers intact. Not just 1 or 2 feathers but quit a few. The manager apologized & took it off the bill & brought us a new plate of chicken but our appetites were already diminished. How can the cook, the expediter & the server miss these feathers?!?!?!?!? Will not return to this Babylon Del Fuego. My apologies for the photos but I had to share it. read more

This place is brand new / opened a few weeks ago (I'm shocked that no one has yelped yet!) right in the center of the village (it's one of the 3 restaurants caddy-corner from Argyle Grill). Look for the green cactus in their garden out front if you can't spot it. To be honest, I was surprised this place opened with Swell Taco just around the corner... even though Del Fuego has a better location on Deer Park Ave, more seatings, etc. The owners / management did a great job with the decorations/layout. The interior is more impressive than most restaurants in Babylon. Decor is definitely traditional "tex-mex" with guitars and animals (and tusks) on the walls - lots of deep burgundy and mustard colors. Lighting isn't outrageously bright either. The chairs/tables kind of remind me of Chipotle - all gray/metal... but the food is better. Overall, trendy atmosphere - kind of for the "younger" and "family" crowd of Long Island. I can't see how this place would hold more than 20 people at the bar. They have a fully stocked beer - happy hour Monday through Friday. I went today (Wed) and they had 1/2 priced wings...seems like they are trying to attract a diverse crowd with the food options. The host let us sit wherever we wanted - **opt for the front (the back is feels a little bit "compressed" and is loud from the kitchen). Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive - checked in on us about 3 times during our meal. Now on to the food: Waitress put salsa and chips on the table - beware - the salsa is VERY spicy. Food came out fast - Chimichangas were a bit small (there are other places that can give you more bang for your buck) - you get UNO chimichanga for $10.00. In other places on the island you can get 3 for that... The chimichangas had delicious pulled chicken and sour cream in them (the dough was a little sweet) and the stuffed jalapenos were fresh and crisp... if the heat isn't enough there are 4 different kinds of tabasco sauce on the table. Moved here two years ago and this has become our fave local go-to place. You can't beat the lunch specials - even on weekends, and the playlist is kickin. We went on a Wednesday night to find the restaurant and bar packed, with three parties ahead of us. The hostess took our name, asked for 5 minutes and seated us in less than 10. My bro is visiting from Europe so I brought him here for his brisket fix, only the dish had a very off night. So why 5 stars? 1- It's the first time I've been disappointed with a meal in two years 2- The service was friendly and fabulous. 3- did I mention the playlist? 4- their homemade salsa is amazing 5- here's why: After paying the bill/tipping for the great service we received, we mentioned the dish wasn't so hot, not looking for anything other than to give feedback. Even after assurances this would not impede us from coming back (we love this place), the server & management insisted on making it right for us with a gift card for our next visit. I'm blown away by that (And really I shouldn't be, as that's appropriate customer service). But the fact is, many businesses these days really don't care much about service recovery. The place was packed, so losing our (non drinking) revenue won't make an impact. I'm a firm believer in supporting local economy - I really love that Del Fuego management is a firm believer in respecting, earning & keeping my patronage, and empowers staff to do likewise. On the hopping Village strip on DPA with so many outstanding choices, that says a lot. Well done. This place is always busy and with good reason. The food is delicious as are the drinks. My husband is obsessed with the chips and salsa and I love to start with the guacamole. My husband and I got the brisket tacos and fish tacos. My husband loved his brisket tacos and my fish tacos were good but I would probably try something else next time. I really wanted to like this place, my nephew chose it so I was excited. The food was pretty good, we all had good meals. Steak tacos, chicken quesadilla, trio of tacos.. I had a michelada which was also good, Not overwhelming in taste. The hosts were nice. I wasn't pleased at all with the service. Not sure if it was because it was Monday, I noticed people around us got chips. Our table didn't. Also, we didn't get cutlery I had to go in the restaurant and take them from set tables. Another thing I didn't like we weren't asked if we needed anything else we automatically got our check once we were done eating. There is a restaurant called Swell Taco immediately around the corner of this place that looks to be about the same, price-wise. Without ever having eaten there, I'm recommending it over Del Fuego. Del Fuego scores low in my estimate because it committed a cardinal sin against restaurant hospitality: it rushed us. I came with a friend for dinner on a weekday night. We settled in. I ordered a tequila flight ($17). We got an app (guacamole). We ordered two entrees. We weren't halfway into our guac when the entrees arrived. Excuse me? I felt overwhelmed, as did my friend. We didn't really get to enjoy our guac, our meals were getting cold, and we hadn't been very long at this restaurant. I couldn't enjoy my meal practically at all. I'm a dessert person; we did not linger there for dessert. Why should we give these people more money when they so clearly did not want us there? Finally, and this is an afterthought, but the food: just above average. But just. The best thing about this place is its complimentary salsa (and that, seriously, was addicting). So if you're in the mood for Mexican in Babylon Village, go Swell Taco, because Del Fuego will leave you feeling cold. read more
