There is a restaurant called Swell Taco immediately around the corner of this place that looks to be about the same, price-wise. Without ever having eaten there, I'm recommending it over Del Fuego. Del Fuego scores low in my estimate because it committed a cardinal sin against restaurant hospitality: it rushed us. I came with a friend for dinner on a weekday night. We settled in. I ordered a tequila flight ($17). We got an app (guacamole). We ordered two entrees. We weren't halfway into our guac when the entrees arrived. Excuse me? I felt overwhelmed, as did my friend. We didn't really get to enjoy our guac, our meals were getting cold, and we hadn't been very long at this restaurant. I couldn't enjoy my meal practically at all. I'm a dessert person; we did not linger there for dessert. Why should we give these people more money when they so clearly did not want us there? Finally, and this is an afterthought, but the food: just above average. But just. The best thing about this place is its complimentary salsa (and that, seriously, was addicting). So if you're in the mood for Mexican in Babylon Village, go Swell Taco, because Del Fuego will leave you feeling cold. read more

We ordered through Uber eats and my order called for 1 carne asada taco and 2 shrimp tacos and they sent me 2 ground beef tacos and 1 pulled pork taco. Everyone else had their order correct. The food was good they just have to double check the orders to make sure it's correct. read more

We found Del Fuego thanks to Swell Taco being closed on Sundays...who knew!?! Anyway, our family of four dined here unexpectedly; 2 of which are very picky teenage girls. We were seated right away & our waitress was very pleasant & efficient. All four of us found something that we were happy with; 2 x beef tacos, chicken burrito, & I got the 3 mushroom quesadillas which I thought was delicious! The teenagers were able to order their tacos and burritos to their specifications. I loved the cool modern rock music playing, not too loudly in the background & the decor. My husband and I came here for some tacos. We both got the Taco Trio and was very happy with our choice. The tacos were pretty big and stuffed, very flavorful! The salsa here is addicting. It is also strong--the aftertaste will coat your mouth for days because of its potency. But it's completely worth it. Anyone who has a problem with it should be instantly appeased by how great it tastes. This location is great--a lot of locals convene here for margaritas and fajitas. Pretty standard fare, including quesadillas, nachos, and this crazy indulgent brisket and fries thing. It's basically loaded fries but with more fat and cholesterol-raising goodness. The prices are just slightly higher than the usual, but still cheaper than eating in the city. The service is great--nice bartenders and servers who are attentive and quick to refill your water. It's fairly big so would work for groups--it gets busy but the wait usually doesn't exceed about half an hour. read more

I ordered chicken quesadilla, which I have had in the past and it has been good. My friend ordered fajitas. I have to say that the food did not take too long to get to us. Just moved into the area and figured I'd try this place. It was packed but two tops were openly available. I checked in and got a free shot. We ordered a second shot so we both could have one and the manager was nice enough to comp the second shot as well. Service was great, they didn't even seem annoyed when we asked for fresher chips since ours looked like the crumbs at the bottom of the container. We were given a fresh batch. We'd just left Robert Moses and were hunting for a post-beach meal when we stumbled upon Del Fuego. And man, did it hit the spot! Del Fuego has delicious, sizable portions in addition to being conveniently located, reasonably priced, and well staffed. My friends and I were seated at a booth and promptly given some chips and salsa to munch on while we looked over the menu. We ordered some guacamole, which was both delicious and a much larger portion than you'd see in the city for $8. I got the veggie burrito, which came with a side of the Fuego salad. Both were excellent! My friends were equally happy with everything we ordered, including their fish tacos, carnitas enchiladas, and the mesquite chicken wrap. The atmosphere is very casual-I love the big booths. The food was fantastic. The salsa is unique and delicious. The drinks are strong and flavorful. My only complaint is we ordered 2 tequila flights, since it's their Friday night special, and our waitress didn't know how to describe it. She guessed on what it entailed and the price. A few minutes later she brought us six shots and as she was walking away, we asked her about the types of tequila and she had no idea. I used doordash and got the "3 tacos and a soda"for 9$. I chose pulled pork, brisket and shredded chicken, all in a soft flour shell. The pork had a red cabbage/corn on top and the beef and chicken had the classic lettuce/tomato/cheese on top. Aside from the tacos being a little mushy from the liquid in the meat over time makes the shell soggy during it's travel, each flavor was better then the next. Service was good but I believe if there is price change for an item the menu should reflect it or the server should reconfirm when item is ordered. You have so much on the tables and if we are not downloading the menu who is looking at a little piece of paper informing you of this charge. Came in for nachos and happy hour. Sever was friendly and sat us down immediately. I ordered the pineapple margarita which was discounted by $2 during happy hour. The margarita was mostly juice. I followed it by a frozen house margarita. This one was better but not necessarily what I would recommend. The nachos were pretty good. Went to this place with the family around end of lunch hour. The place was full and hopping and I could see why. The food was satisfying and filling and not overly pricey. It's your typical tex-mex fare of burritos, tacos, enchiladas and options to have those in various combinations and sizes. Didn't try the drinks but they had them. As I said, the place was busy and, despite that, we didn't feel forgotten by the waitress. It's not the right spot for someone looking for a quiet spot, though, as there's music, talk, and TV sets tuned to sports channels. It's better than a Chipotle and I would prefer it to an Applebees, specially when craving for Mexican. read more

I just saw a very negative review left by an extremely disgruntled customer about a catering order that was placed for a sweet 16....I am now going out of my way to make a reply-post to that person (I believe their username was 'Samantha B.'). I was in the restaurant that night with my fiancé, and the review that Samantha B. left was untruthful. What I'm assuming was her husband walked into the restaurant, immediately yelling and berating the hostess and other employees trying to resolve this issue. He proceeded to engage in what felt like a 20-minute screaming match with a restaurant worker, a young woman nearly half his age. The entire restaurant watched as this grown adult man carried on the biggest temper tantrum I have ever seen - and I'm a preschool teacher, for reference - absolutely ruining everyone else's dining experience. He acted like an entitled, spoiled rotten brat, and his behavior was extremely inappropriate. I completely understand that his family was inconvenienced by this mishandling of his catering order, especially being that it was for a sweet 16, but the manner with which he conducted himself unfortunately then shifted the blame onto him as opposed to just the restaurant. It was clear that this was due to a miscommunication or something - which again, sucks, but that's life - but the man was misdirecting his anger at employees that most likely had nothing to do with his order not being fulfilled. When you are an adult, and you have been inconvenienced or screwed over by some facet of life, the appropriate reaction is never to see who can yell louder - especially when its being directed at teens/young twentysomethings at work just trying to earn a living and go home. Samantha B.'s post also stated that they did not receive a refund for their order - again, I was in the restaurant and overheard the staff trying to appease him. He was given a FULL refund, plus some extra. I grew up in Babylon and have been coming to Del Fuego for YEARS - I have NEVER had a bad experience, the food is always delicious, the service is incredible, and all of the young people that work there deserve to be respected by their patrons. This place is essential an Applebee's for Tex-Mex food. Our waitress was delightful and super attentive but the food was disappointing. We got guacamole for the table to share and I could tell they make it ahead of time and just have it sitting in the fridge waiting for orders. It was super tasteless, really cold and was lacking that oomph of lime and jalapeno and overall zesty-ness. My friend and I shared the shrimp tacos and the 3 mushroom quesadilla. The shrimp tacos had only only one taste and that was sweet. There were hardly any shrimp but about 2 lbs worth of red cabbage dumped on top, I had to shovel off most of it to get to the actual taco. I wanted whole pieces of shrimp but it was actually cut up pieces and they were far and few between. They should really renamed this dish to "red cabbage taco served with shrimp garnish". This quesadilla claimed to have 3 different types of mushroom but the only one i saw was crimini. It was also flavorless, and was filled mostly with cheese and served with really sad pico de gallo. Like you know when you make something and you are too lazy to put saran wrap on it and just throw it in the fridge and everything just kind of droops and gets wilted and wet, that is what the salsa was like. The whole experience was a drag and I'm sad that I spent my money (and space in my stomach) on food that was definitely not worth it. Skip the disappointment and go straight to Swell Taco for some grub you can actually feel good about. read more

Del fuego has been a favorite of ours for a while. It's the perfect go to restaurant when you are in the mood for really tasty Mexican food and delicious drinks for fair prices ! We never once had an issue with their food or drinks! Also the service is pretty good usually, although we have had some experiences where they were extremely slow. But the food definitely makes up for these lapses. The only other thing that we had to complain about was the cleanliness. The tables are always filthy every time we go. Very sticky and food residue on them. We have put our arms on some unknown stuff and it wasn't too pleasant But All in all if you are in the mood for Mexican this is the go to spot, all they have to do is just make sure the cleanliness is a bit better ! read more

Happened to stumble across this place one day when driving home from out east. First impression- I really liked the atmosphere and vibe. Then the chips and salsa came out- I swear to you, I have never had salsa like this before- the smoky flavor with a hint of sweetness is just incredible. Last time I was there we purchased a quart of it (and have been rationing it!!) I usually get some combination of tacos as an entrée (definitely a good value with the lunch specials). I enjoyed my yellow fin tuna fajita, although I sent it back twice to cook the tuna more even though I had asked for it medium. My husband had the steak fajita which he said was " OK." The rice and bean side was nicely done. Drinks: I have had better Margarita's. We all just ordered the basic Margarita, perhaps our waitress could have enlightened us as to the other types available. Service: the staff is polite and prompt. Noteworthy: We were sitting directly across from the men's room. Each time the men' s room door opened I had a view of the toilet bowl. First I asked for a pitcher that I always get. The waitress told me they don't do pitchers. So then we ordered individual margaritas.. and didn't get them until after we finished our apps and entrees. 40 min later. She never once came over to see how the food was. At last, the return of Tex Mex to Babylon. After tempting people with the store front for half a year, they opened 3 weeks ago. Ended up calling in an order that had a 45 min wait attached. The place was crowded and the manager had lost my order. He ended rushing it through and giving a pint gratis. It came out shortly afterward. We ordered the gamut of tacos and tropical guac. The brisket taco was the winner but the pork came a close 2nd. Fish and shrimp were inferior to Swell Tacos but the tropical guac made up for that. Got take out from here a couple of weeks ago. My friend and I got three tacos each, yucca fries and chorizo and shrimp flautas. There was a lot of food! So much for your money. The tacos came with rice and beans. Everything was tasty and fresh. The flautas were amazing. The yucca fries weren't flavored enough. Tacos were on point. Everybody keeps talking about this place. So my brother takes me who is a regular and usually gets the taco special. I ordered a Chimichanga and to my amazement the thing was massive. Had to be a 2000 calorie on the Richter. Unfortunately thats all it was...just plain huge with unholy amount of cheese and sauce. Taste was average and to shock life back into my mouth I ate it cold(food has more taste if cold). But still naddaa.. Will try the tacos someday. read more

Started with the chips and salsa they put on the table as starters. The salsa was crack..very good and addictive with some spice to it. I got a Steak fajita wrapped, asked for it well-done, it came to me with some pink in the middle and chewy. Also bland. However my friend loved her specialty chicken wrap-it's the first one listed under the wraps menu, and she ordered rice instead of fries which she also enjoyed. Our meals totaled up to $34. Not bad for the huge portions. I would want to come back to try the drinks, that menu looked very interesting. Plus I love the cracked-out salsa dip. Worst experience I've ever had here. I asked my waitress if the fries were gluten free. They weren't. I asked for a side of guacamole to calm my reaction l, took a half hour to get it and by the time It came we were paying our bill. I also had to ask 3 separate people for it. Went in for taco night and she charged me full price and wouldn't change the price. My tacos came out soggy and when I picked one up it fell all over the plate. My waitress wasn't helpful, she was slow and didnt know anything. Honestly I will never go back to this place. I've eaten here 3 times and all these times the food was just ok. The only things worth are the salsa they give you FOR FREE and the $3 expensive as all hell tablespoon on Guac they serve. I'll wait the 2 hours next time for Swell Taco because at least I know the food and service are worth it. Such a bad time here..... Stumbled upon Del Fuego while surfing through Yelp in search for a restaurant that specializes in Tex-Mex. Although Babylon is a trip for me, the hundreds of positive reviews motivated me to give them a shot. First off, the complementary chips and salsa were delicious. I'm not one to usually rave about salsa, but this was one of the best salsas that I've had in a while. As an appetizer, I ordered the wings and for my main course I ordered the steak fajita. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The food is priced similarly to most other Tex-Mex restaurants, but the quality of the food is out of this world. The restaurant has a great cozy outdoor seating area with a bar, multiple picnic tables and a few smaller tables. We had two employees waiting our table and they were extremely attentive and friendly. This was my first time there and it definitely will not be my last! This restaurant is 100% recommended for those in the mood for some good quality Tex-Mex. Honestly, where has Del Fuego been all my life? Will sure be back soon. read more
