We both went with the Rack of Lamb with mash and green beans, one medium and one rare (me!), and they were perfectly prepared and well plated with an accompanying salad. We paired them with a glass of the Decoy Cab for Deb and the Becker Malbec for me. Of course, we went with the Sticky Toffee pudding to share for dessert......and, once again, it was delightful. Had to give an update. We went early on Friday for raw oysters. After driving a little over an hour to get there, no oysters. I understand things happen. The owner came out and apologized but then launched into 5 minutes of excuses. We finally interrupted him and said if only someone would answer the phone we could find out if we should do the drive or not. No one has ever answered the phone and mailbox is always full. More excuses. An owner/manager should not load you down with excuses. We paid for our drinks and left. Very beautiful place with good food and drinks, but we won't be doing the drive again. read more

Wow!!! Out in the small town of Center Point Texas. We made reservations at a small town tavern that turned out to be a diamond in the ruff! We had drinks at the bar that were delicious and perfectly crafted. Staff were very friendly and we ordered the tuna tartare. Chicken cordon bleu and the New York strip angus steak. All were exquisite! The steak was our absolute favorite that we have had in a while! The ambiance was very warm (it was 27 degrees outside). Bathrooms are very small and outside. Definitely one of my favorite hidden spots out in the middle of the hill country tucked away in the small town of Center point. read more

That needs to change - I'd suggest offering more non alcoholic beverages as well. We were given a nice gift card for this restaurant in early 2024. During 2024 we went through some health issues and finally went there today... First, the food and service were very,very good. Secondly, although the name of the tavern remained the same, the gift card was not honored. This soured the experience and sullied my overall enjoyment. I am SO excited to have found this place. Wish they'd open 7 days so it was easier to get in, advanced reservations seem to be a requirement! Food - 10 out of 10. We had the fish/potato small plate which took us back to Spain. We've discovered the menu changes bc it wasn't on the menu the next time, but when it's back it is a must!! We got the steak for two and brought leftovers home. We chose the mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce but the absolute surprise was the Dijon mustard. Steak also came with two side salads. The French 75 1/2 was terrific as was the old fashioned with flamed orange zest to release the oils. They have a small but very well curated bar. Pro tip: if you can't get a reservation come early and sit at the bar. Earlier the better. We got tomato soup, spinach salad, pork chop, and steak frite. Both appetizers were perfectly prepared and seasoned. Delicious to share. We enjoyed both very much. The heritage pork was dry and tough. The flavor was great but texture was lacking. The sweet potato was well prepared, not too sweet. In contrast to the pork, the steak was tender and juicy. The frites were terrific and the house made ketchup flavorful. The zucchini served on both plates was delicious, tender, and seasoned perfectly. Chef: maybe brine your pork or marinate overnight in seasoned buttermilk to improve the moisture content. Great food choices, very attentive, and helpful, wait staff, very friendly executive chef Edward, who didn't just stop by the table briefly, but spent time talking with us and answering questions. The Sunday brunch menu was much more extensive than what is on the website. What did we eat?
