The best Mexican food in Hattiesburg. We have been dining here for years, and it never fails!

Great interior design and decor with very pleasant staff. Prompt and polite service bringing flavorful salsa and chips. I don't rate the tamales very high. The Queso was very tasty as were the chicken fajitas. The No 7 combo had very good rice and beans along with the chili relleno. The pepper was very mild so I felt it could have been more spicy. I also had a cheese enchilada which was only ok. It had a big blob of melted cheese on top (not grated cheese!), which I've never seen before. The red sauce was fine. They've just recently opened so maybe they will make some adjustments. Being from Texas, I hope I have made some constructive remarks. We would try it again on another trip. read more

When we are in town this is our go to for lunch. We are always seated right away. The server takes our drink order & someone brings by complementary chips and salsa. I love the Rancho Special. I have tried the chicken and also the shrimp, both are delicious. I'm trying to cut carbs so I substitute the beans and rice for more onions and peppers. The cheese sauce is soo good! read more

Yep found my favorite Mexican restaurant!! Great margaritas, I ordered the Patron! I had the Los Cabos ! So much I had to take half of it home. Even my husband who doesn't eat fish says it was delicious. ... I think the cheese sauce threw him off. We had a fast and friendly server . It really got busy after 5 on a Tuesday night! The food was ok but the manager is absolutely awful. They gave our table of 6 a waitress in training which was fine with us until they got four of our orders wrong. I ordered fajitas and they didn't bring my tortillas or plate out for 9 minutes so all my meat was cold. One order had the wrong sauce(white instead of red), that my wife just ate anyways to not pile on. One order was just plain wrong they had to take it away and didn't bring the right thing back for 14 minutes. One order they got wrong twice and didn't bring back until everyone was finished even the guy who got his food second to last. The waitress tried to argue with us about what she ordered TWICE. The manager came over and just made it all worse. He tried to argue more and laughed at us multiple times. He tried to blame the bad experience on the fact that he has to hire teenagers and people that can't speak English. That's not the customer's problem! Train them better or get someone else in there who speaks English and can learn how to serve tables. This guy has ZERO business managing anything. He allows his staff to be rude and argumentative when THEY WERE WRONG FOUR TIMES! Come on man just take responsibility, make it right, SHUT UP and move on! 6 long time customers GONE because this manager can't take responsibility and make things right. read more

Overpriced literally overcharge for everything!! If you guys want save some money and eat some actually good authentic food and don't mind driving to laurel go try out Julia's in Laurel, Ms across from piggly wiggly and they just remodeled the inside as well!! We've been coming here for over 5 years. I have no idea what was going on but today it smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. It was like walking into a casino where it burns your eyes and you cant focus on anything else. It seemed to get worse and worse. The food has gone downhill a bit and we got a stomach ache after leaving. Our server has been there for a long time and she's always lovely. But, there were definitely some servers that were being loud at the front and in the kitchen. I hate to say it but I think last was our last time at Del Sol. read more

Don't waste your time or money. My husband ordered the birria street tacos. They were tasteless. The salsa was just tomato sauce with garlic powder and maybe onion powder. Worst salsa we have ever had. I ordered the tamale lunch and the tamales were bland. the only thing with any taste on the plate was the refried beans. Taco Bell would have been better!!! read more

Always amazing! The atmosphere is submersive, with singing and guitar playing..feels a little like Mexico. Best Ceviche! Incredibly fresh. Bistek Rancheros is always a favorite ar our table as well. Margaritas and housemade sangrias are the tip of the iceberg... The service is impeccable-every time. read more

Chile relleno was not even cooked, the cheese inside was not melted, the pepper itself was hard and uncooked. The so-called hot sauce was more like tomato sauce. The server dumped our food off and never came back to ask if we needed anything or fill our drinks. We normally tip 20 to 25% but in this case we only tipped 10% which was way more than we should have. We went in the middle of the day, so the place was quiet. I seriously doubt we'll ever go back. I'm not going to pay high prices for food that is not prepared correctly and where service is not given. read more

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is one of the 5x I ate here my partner and I got very sick afterwards, I didn't realize it was the food but when I had leftovers I knew it was the food. Another visit, usually I just order to go food. However we made a special trip for celebration. This is the second time I have gotten the Burrito San Jose, which is filled with pork and chorizo. Came to Del Sol at 5:30 on a Friday evening because we thought they would be busy later. They are located in a part of town that has a lot of other restaurants and businesses. They are in a strip shopping center just off the main drag so you have to be looking for it or know it's there. At 5:30 there were quite a few open tables but by 6:30 they were pretty full and it was noisy. We ordered a cheese dip and a couple of margaritas and they came out quickly as well as the complimentary chips and salsa. The food was tasty but the margaritas weren't anything to write home about although the sign out front said "best margaritas in town ". My wife had a taco salad and I ordered three tacos. She said her salad was OK but nothing special. I had one beef, one chicken and one carnitas taco. The all had plenty of meat but they all tasted similar. The bill came to just over $50 with the tip. Bottom line I'd call my experience average. There was nothing wrong with the food or service but nothing stands out as great. Next time I am in town I would look to try a different Mexican place to see if there's something better. read more

There was ear wax in my basket of tortilla chips and there was a lot of blood in the steak. This place is horrid.

I'm all about customer service and I've been going here for years. But over time the quality and service have sadly declined. It makes no sense that a certain article from the menu is free when you sit down vs ordering to go. Especially something so simple as a salsa AND when you're ordering a decent amount of food. Small things like that will absolutely drive a customer away. Management needs to add the extra cents to their food all around if they can't afford to give salsa away. Del Sol Mexican Restaurant ("DSMR") is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Hattiesburg. The food and service are consistently good. DSMR has started using more seasoning in their dishes, which is greatly appreciated. I know the palates of people in South Mississippi are not accustomed to enduring food with much flavor other than extremely sweet and salty items. I would only suggest that DSMR use a wider array of seasonings to bring their dishes to life. I would absolutely recommend DSMR to anyone looking for Mexican food! read more

First off no one to greet at the door. Everyone looks confused. I finally sat where I wanted. Girl brings warm chips and typical bland salsa. No water offered.. Finally, needing something to drink with the chips a guy takes my drink order and tries to walk off but I made him take my food order now that I'm 15 minutes into this commitment. My food shows up, again typical standard reheated prepared food. Still no margarita and he asks me if I wanted unsweetened. I said no I ordered a large top shelf. So after all this and I ate what I could, drinking my margarita, which is good BTW. Finally had to ask for him waiting on my check. Never again. Went a few weeks ago. My husbands food was ok (nothing impressive), but mine was bad. I ordered chicken with cheese and rice, expecting it to be like other arroz con pollo I've had. However, the chicken was super rubbery. The queso wasn't great either, tasted more cheddery than the Mexican queso I'm used to. so disappointed. we have eaten here several times but tonight we waited over an hour for our food. it wasn't until three adult Hispanic people came in and within five minutes they received their food, that's when I called one of the waiters over and asked what did I have to do to get our food. his response was there was a large table over in the corner. My response was well it didn't stop the three Hispanic people from getting their food and they all got steaks. well about ten minutes later we got our food but it was so cold that we could not enjoy it so we brought it home. the cheese sauce on my food had already formed an outer hardening. But they told me to take it up with the website we ordered through, didn't ask me what we ordered, never asked if I would like to make another order. They have a child working the register who is not capable of handling situations like that and apparently neither are any of the adults that work there. Will let everyone know to avoid. I am always looking for some good and authentic Mexican food and this was my first time trying Del Sol. It seemed to have good ratings. Here's what I can say. The portions are completely out of control. This may be why it is so popular in the most obese state in the US. The chicken Quesadilla was enough for 2-3 people and the special plate could have fed a family. The salsa bowl they bring out to the table with chips was also seemingly wasteful, no way to eat all that. Now for the guacamole, it needed some cilantro, lime and salt. The margaritas were 2 for 1 but were pretty watered down. If you want HUGE portions that are light on taste, this is probably for you. read more

We waited for about five minutes until to go and ask for some because if we didn't our food would have gotten cold, so I go up and ask our waiter, "Excuse me we have been waiting for five minutes for our untensils could we please get some?"
