Had two beef tacos and one cheese dealie. Beef quality was outstanding. People working there friendly. Self order kiosks efficient and fast. I live in Oakland and so I have access to the best taco spots around. Even so this place holds its own for a fast food place. The taste was there but it was a little small - possibly just because it was wrapped and not open face. Could have been an illusion. We don't have Del Tacos in San Francisco or Oakland I think because there is good mom and pop competition.... and Taco Bell is a whole different crowd. Apples and oranges. I couldn't believe there's a Del Taco on the way to Sacramento. This was my first time eating Del Taco for many years I lived in California. I stopped at this tiny strip mall for a nature's call. Looking around, there was Mountains Mike Pizza and other restaurants. But Del Taco looked more appealing. The restroom is right at the entrance from the parking lot. They are two separate rooms: women's and gender neutral. Ok. I guess there are more women than men in the City of Fairfield. A friendly male employee greeted me as I was looking at the menu. The prices were reasonable. I really wanted some quick bites for the road. So, I ordered a mini crunchy taco, a soft grilled chicken taco and a mini shake, orange cream flavor. Service was fast and the server was good. I ordered soft taco on the side from ordering the new box option since I haven't been to Del taco in a while. I brought my kids to try it. The soft taco on the side had twice as much meat, cheese and lettuce, as my box soft taco. So they are cutting out toppings to make up for the price. I ordered a $7 and $9 box. The burger in the $9 box was compared to in n out and she said it was amazing! The fries were soggy by the time we got home because this location is the closest at 30 minutes away, but del taco fries are one of my favorites. I'm not sure about other Del Tacos, but this one will basically let you order anything you want, made any way you want so long as they have the ingredients. Even if it's not on the menu. Want a fish burrito? Yes! Want a shrimp burger? Your wish is their command. The employees they hire seem to be really cool too and they seem to legitimately enjoy working there. I got the fried chicken and fries basket and it was really delicious, I also ordered a fish and shrimp burrito as seen here and it was also great. It always astounds me that there are more Taco Bells than Del Tacos. For fast food, Del Taco is quality and selection, while the Bell is 7-11 level. I usually order anything with Del Taco grilled chicken which actually tastes like it's grilled with a little smokiness. Soft taco, hard shell taco, or burrito. I also crave their breakfast burrito. One menu item that might get overlooked are their tasty burgers. Completely legit cheeseburgers and crinkle cut fries MUCH better than most other fast food restaurants.
