I've tried so many nacho fries all over the Bay Area, and Taco Jalisco is definitely one of the best I've had. I ordered their Chicken Nacho Fries and Carne Asada Fries, both topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and green onion. I also opted to add guacamole for an additional fee--and it was definitely worth it! The ingredients taste incredibly fresh, and I'm always left feeling satisfied after eating here. The customer service is another highlight; the staff are always friendly and accommodating, which makes the overall experience even better. Taco Jalisco has been one of my favorite places to get Mexican food in Vallejo for the past 20 years, so I figured it was finally time to give them a review! Over the years, I've watched this place go through a few upgrades. One of the biggest changes is the menu that used to be painted on the wall is now displayed on digital display. It looks pretty cool, although I do miss the old painted menu because it was part of what I remembered about this place. But with prices changing over the years, I can definitely understand why going digital makes more sense than having to repaint the wall every time something changes. Prices have gone up over the years too, but that's understandable. One thing that hasn't changed is the service. The staff has always been nice, welcoming, and hospitable. I've never had any problems with the customer service here. This time I ordered a super burrito and two street tacos. Taco Jalisco has always had some of my favorite carne asada. The steak is flavorful and honestly some of the best carne asada I've had in a Mexican dish. The street tacos were simple and good. Carne Asada and chicken with , cilantro, onions, and their hot sauce on top. And I have to mention their hot sauce! It has been one of my favorite things about Taco Jalisco for years. It adds so much flavor without taking away from the food. The super burrito was good too, although it was on the smaller side compared to super burritos I've gotten at other places. Still, the flavor was there. The seasoned steak, rice, and house sauce all blend together really well. Their rice especially seems to soak up some of that sauce, and when you get everything together in one bite, it makes for a really flavorful burrito. After 20 years, Taco Jalisco is still one of my favorite places in Vallejo to grab a burrito and some tacos. I wouldn't necessarily call it the best anymore, especially with so many other good Mexican spots around Vallejo now, but it will always be one of my favorites and a place I'll continue coming back to. read more

I have 8 mexican restaurants in the town I live in, yet I make the extra drive out here every time for their famous Jalisco burrito! It's basically a super burrito "wet" and its huge...you may even have to take home leftovers! They give you a free basket of homemade, crispy, thin chips and their signature homemade red and green sauces. The manager is very friendly and welcoming, and keeps the place running smoothly. This is a gem of a restaurant located near the heart of Vallejo. This place has a wide selection of menu and drink options at a more than reasonable price, and the food tastes fresh and authentic. The inside has a lot of personality, and the restaurant is very clean and organized. Whenever I eat here, I usually like to get the enchilada combo plate and tacos. The type of meat varies, but I typically like to get carnitas, asada, or pollo. The enchiladas are delicious and I love how they're drenched in sauce. The sides always hit the spot as well--I'm a sucker for Mexican rice and this places cooks it perfectly. Customer service was good -- guy was friendly. The turnaround time was great, and I was honestly excited -- especially for the enchilada plate with their rice and beans. If memory serves, their sides were flavorful. Unfortunately, the rice and beans really fell short. The beans tasted... off -- like burnt but somehow not burnt. My husband's chicharron burrito was mostly rice, and the few meat pieces he got were hard and flavorless. The burrito also fell apart immediately. The carne asada burrito was good but not memorable. One of my favorites to get a delicious chili relleno. The chili is always fresh with just the right amount of spice kick to keep me coming back for more. I also enjoy the Tuesday taco plate and ask for chicken. Cut into chunks, the chicken is moist and tender. Do not miss their adult sangria. Always delcious and a perfect match with a spicy dish. The massive FAIL is the SUPER SHRIMP BURRITO because there was hardly no shrimp. I honestly think I ate a burrito with mostly beans (which I had requested none) and rice. From memory and shock, I remember eating MAYBE 1-2 pieces (I call them "pieces" because they were tiny as hell!) and one of the pieces possibly could've been a left over shrimp that's been sitting at the side of the grill for awhile since it was tough. 10 + years ago, this place was where you could get a solid burrito and tacos with all of the sides such as green onions, limes, radishes, pickled carrots and jalapenos but none of that came on the plate, was available at the front, or offered. This used to be my "go to" for the consistently good tacos and burritos. I've going there for many years. Today I ordered chicken fajitas to go. It was disgusting!! The chicken was chewy and crunchy as if they gave me the parts that should have been cut off and thrown away from the whole chicken. The taste was bland and gross. I ordered a side of Pico and it tasted like chopped tomato without any seasoning. It's now about 8 hours later and I still have the grossest taste in my mouth! Yuck! One of my favorite taco spots in Vallejo! Love coming here since it's so close to my house. Service is always quick and friendly and I've never had a bad experience. They have daily specials and also happy hour! Only recently learned about the happy hour and it's great. Their tamarind margarita is one of my favorite drinks to order from here. Very torn with my review because this has been my burrito spot for years. I have moved away to Texas where I cannot get authentic Mexican food. When I came to town this weekend, Tacos Jalisco is the first place I stopped at. Burrito was excellent as usual. Today, I decided to go back before I leave for the airport to take with me. It was lunch time so crowded, that's ok. But when it was my turn to order, the owner walked away to start handling other orders, never acknowledged me. I waited to see if he was going to say "I'll be with you in a minute" but nothing. I waited another minute and decided to leave. I will not return when I visit my family here in Vallejo. The food is really good here. However, the service can be a lot better. The owner? I'm not sure but he's bald he's pretty rude. This is my second time calling in an order, and the order somehow got lost ?? I'm not sure. I called about 30 minutes in advance for tacos the first time, and came all the way to Vallejo to pick up my food. I got to the building and the guy said they didn't have a order and the lady (she's very sweet) was like oh no I have the order for her but the guy continued to tell me about how they take phone orders as if I work there??? Idk. But I didn't end up getting my food just because I was annoyed. Mind you I have been coming to Taco Jalisco since I was a kid with my mother so over 15+ yrs. Today, I experienced the same thing with the phone order but I still ended up getting my food because I do love the food. The service isn't the best at least from the guy? I mean Jalisco's bricks & mortar location is always gonna be that bedrock, cornerstone & legendary Vallejo restaurant. Has been for many years now. Pleasant, inviting interior, clear menu board, decent prices, speedy service and great employees. Where it missed for me lately would be in the ingredient quality area. I know it's a tough time for restaurants and cost-cutting seems like it's a must to survive. While waiting for service on my vehicle, I stopped in for late lunch early dinner and got the Nacho plate daily special. My protein choice was asada (beef), but this beef was pretty chewy, like lower grade stew meat. Several pieces of the chewy gristle had to be spit & discarded (sorry for that graphic). My point I suppose is that the restaurant is trying to strike that delicate balance of a fair price point and satisfactory ingredient quality. What diners have come to expect from Jalisco's and still appreciate. For me, that missed the mark this time. Hoping that it was a 1-off. But if not, my advice to the restaurant would be not to downgrade your ingredient quality too much, because then you'll start to alienate more of your customer base that you've worked so hard to build thru the years. We went in tonight, bought 2 wet burritos, 2 beans and rice sides, a super burrito, 1 soda, 2 horchata's, and a single flan, it came up to almost $75. The price, although slightly high for the amount of food we received, if it would have been good I'd have rated it higher but we were really disappointed. First, we live in American Canyon- we went into Vallejo because we wanted some good take out and I hadn't had Jalisco's in several years, so when we got our food to go and left- it was annoying when we realized they hadn't included the flan and we had to drive back to Vallejo. When almost there I took a drink of the horchata and realized it was very watered down so when I went back in to get the flan I asked if they could replace the watered down horchata's so they would be good when we finally got to home again and got to eat dinner. The gentleman said it would taste the same and wouldn't do it, I asked if he could just try it since they had just made a new batch- what we had came from the end of the old one- he gave me a small cup and had me taste the new batch and it was great, I told him it was better but he still wouldn't replace the watered down drinks just gave me a partial cup of the new batch and told me to mix it into the watered down drinks. Why it was such an issue is beyond me, especially after we had to drive all the way back to get something they had neglected to include with our order to begin with but it was..... the super burrito was the next issue, it wasn't super as it had no sour cream and no cheese was on it either...... the 9.36 seemed high for literally 1 spoon of beans and 1 small serving of rice on 2 plates but they weren't bad honestly.... the wet burritos had very little taste- i was very disappointed (probably because I really looked forward to it) but the steak was minced so small the beans were alot bigger than any of the meat that was in my burrito...... the last, and worst part, was the flan. After going all the way back for it, and receiving an extra piece for the trouble, I expected it to be at least edible but it was super burned and too bitter to even eat. My daughter asked if I wanted to take them back tomorrow but I can honestly say there's nothing there I would want, except my money back but doubt they'd return that so all I can do now is yelp my experience and hope nobody else goes through what we did tonight. read more
