On 4/23/2024, my wife went through the drive through at the Lancaster Dr. location. After she brought the order home, we discovered two tacos missing, one green burrito was 30% smaller than the other, the fries were limp and greesy, even though the receipt showed 'well done as was requested. Because their phone was set to FAX, I had to drive across town, with a receipt, to get the order corrected. Or so, I thought. After arriving at the location, I went inside to ask for the manager. The young female asked me what time my wife came in and I showed her the receipt. She said 'that' crew had left and there was NOTHING SHE COULD DO. She refused to provide her name when asked, so I asked for contact info for the district manager. The manager told me, there was just one franchise owner. Yes, we purchase them on Thursday to save a little money but along with this we purchase a fiesta box with 6 bean burritos and 6 soft tacos. Don't waste your time or your money going to Del Taco on Lancaster Dr in Salem, OR. I ordered #4 combo with Carne Asada (the sign says, chicken or carne asada) Cost $8.59. I get to the window and I'm told it is $10.59. I got charged $2 extra for the carne asada tacos. I questioned it and the girl says, "that's because they are carne asada, we charge more for them". As we were in the drive-through between the ordering menu and the building, rats were openly running around, in the open and in the small shrubs. They were fairly large and a couple times fought with each other. They seemed to not fear the cars in the drive-through line. At one point, I counted five rats simultaneously, which likely means there were many more. I mentioned this to the woman who was staffing the drive-up window. After two bites I quickly surmised this to be Mexican American fast food and comparable to Taco Bell although my son says Taco Bell is better. I had two fish tacos with french fries and a soft drink and my son had the steak tacos. The fish tacos looked like soft white corn tortillas with fish sticks, cabbage, and a lime wedge. It's alright. It's just like taco bell but has it's own twist. The burger and fries I hear are actually good but I havent tried them. The crispy "del taco" I like and think they put more effort into than Taco Bell for the price. I liked the beer battered fish tacos, quesadeas and nachos are all great and better In my opinion. The meal is expensive and skimpy. The order was supposed to be medium size, it was all smaller than normal order sizes, the spices on the taco meat were icky, and rather than rebalance teh beans and meat, it looks like all they did was remove the beans, and very little cheese to be fond. Del Taco is one of the Taco Bell franchised wannabes that is still somehow trying to make its way out east, as it is largely a west dominated chain. Unlike Taco Bell, the pricier options can initially be a turn off, but the food quality has been much better than your average Taco Bell. The 24 hour drive through is fun, its location is decent given the fact that its centrally located along the busy Lancaster Drive, roughly 2 blocks away from the rest of the fast food businesses. Really dissatisfied with Del Taco for the past year... one out of three orders are wrong. I went there today 5/24/23 at around pm. I ordered 4 tostada. chips and caso, half pound bean and cheese. They wanted to charge me over $20 and I said I wanted the lower priced tostadas. The order person talked fast and was hard to understand. So when I got my order I was given 4 quesadilla and the guy said they did not sell tostadas and never have... he was lying. Then said they had $1.69 and I asked if he would add two to my order.
