When I was a kid growing up in the Toco Hills neighborhood of Atlanta in the 1970s/1980s, there were not many Mexican restaurants in the area - especially rare were fast food versions. When Del Taco opened up I was in hog heaven. Del Taco had a salsa bar with which to soak your tacos, burritos, and / or cheese nachos in pre-packaged salsa (of 3 distinct varieties / heat levels) and - perhaps more importantly - to smother with pickled jalapeño pepper slices (likely of the industrial sized canister variety). We did not care that the cheese was of the melted Velveeta type. After a decade or two, all of the Del Taco's in Georgia closed up shop and left the state - perhaps due in part to the competition (and better management ) of Taco Bell. Well Del Taco has returned, but this time they are mostly a cheap carbon copy of the Del Taco of old. No more salsa bar. No more self serve sliced jalapeños. You can still get the gooey (velveeta-esque) cheesy nachos. Service is fast and the food is relatively good (and certainly cheap). Like Taco Bell, the salsas here come in pre-packaged ketchup packet varieties / heat variation levels. This place is close to my office so I am probably eating here at least once a week; however, whenever I eat in here I feel a little part of me dies. I am really disappointed. And I very rarely say that about Del Taco. Ask any of my friends- I RAVE about how amazing Del Taco usually is to the extent that I usually buy it at least once a week (yes I have an unhealthy obsession). But at this particular Del Taco I ordered a Number 1 Combo (Two Del Tacos, Crinkle Cut Fries, & a Drink) and a California Bacon Burrito and a Medium Water. The first time we went through the drive-thru we didn't receive the California Bacon Burrito or the Crinkle Cut Fries but we instead got chips and salsa (which I already clarified that I did not want at the speaker). We also only received one straw even though we had two fountain drinks (luckily my friend had one with her... I really don't know why lol). So we go through the drive-thru again to get her burrito and my fries. We got the burrito and fries and drove away. Then as we open the tacos, we realize they gave us hard shells for the tacos even though they confirmed with me at the speaker that I wanted soft shells. :( I understand that it may be harder to understand with masks on, and I do appreciate anyone who is working right now and navigating new difficulties in this strange time, but I was really confused by the mistakes because they were all things that we confirmed at the speaker. read more

I work in Marietta and drive thru the Smyrna area past this location all the time. Del Taco has been my lunch choice more times I'd like to admit and the quality of the food is always the best! My only problem is that around the lunch time hour the drive-thru is always backed up and sometimes on the inside it feels like they work at a snail's pace. But I get that is because they are freaking swamped with the lunch rush crowd, not really too much of an issue! read more

Food was good, but I ordered a tea and a milk. When the driver got here they said they were out of milk so they just gave me 2 teas. I sadis I have no need for 2 teas and the milk was more expensive. Delivery driver just said you have to call grub hub and left. They knew it was a model. No napkins, no plastic wear for my bowl. I called grub hub, .they said they would refund the cost of the milk. I asked for refund of the tip too and they said they would. We will see. I suggest going there and ordering their yummy food, but not delivery. read more

Anyhoo, while passing Del Taco, I see the "Beyond Burrito"! Woo hoo! I heard it was coming and now, I see, it's here! Beyond meat! Yay! Quick (not so quick) drive through the drive thru at Jimmy n Nicky's, then straight back to Del Taco! Ordered one soft beyond taco with lettuce, tomato, onions, and per recommendation... sliced avocado! Wowsers! Got ready to pay and be on my way, and the drive thru girl asked if I was trying it for the first time, and I said "Yes, I heard about it and saw your signs". She said, "It's on us, then!" "What?!? TRASH TRASH TRASH. The manager on duty tonight took it upon himself to agressively interrupt the girl taking my order to make a point of how fresh their ingredients were, how long the cook them for and why. All because, "he felt like the rep wasn't giving a good enough description of the taco salad." When I the customer felt like she did a great job explaining herself to me while he aggressively & awkwardly cut her off. Not knowing her description would determined if i was allergic to any ingredients or not, yet his focus was on being loud, wrong and rushing me through the line of only myself and 1 car behind. When in all actuality he slowed the line even more because as he stood outside the entire time watching me order I now wanted answers as to why he aggressively interrupted my order with unsolicited ingredient descriptions, cook times and how California Corporate was going to be down their back about the time she spent informing me on the taco salad ingredients. After him trying to move me forward in a line of myself and a car behind me, I let him know drive through times would be the last thing Corporate would contact him about tonight's shift. He did not like that and decided to not sale me my food which doesn't hurt me it hurts Del Taco. Mind you I've come here for the 3 years they've been open for business and never had a problem ordering or anyone taking my order let alone asking questions. While he's been there 4 months and I'm sure raising all hell. I suggest corporate pulling the cameras facing the drive through as well as the back door by the drive through or the recording of the order and interaction itself. This is more about the service than the food. It's ridiculous that the drive thru takes so long. I waited for 45 minutes about two weeks ago for my food. I couldn't leave because there were people behind me. Today I have waited for close to twenty minutes only for the car before me to have to hand back their order for correction. The workers are so slow here. The food is good once you get it but takes forever. Once I went through the drive thru and they gave me the wrong drink. I went inside to exchange it and realized why it took forever to get through the line. All the employees were standing around talking to each other like they were not at work. My only complain is that when I stop here in the middle of the night they usually don't have steak ready. Tried Del Taco for the 1st time. I had 3 Del Tacos (beef) while my wife had Carne Asada nachos. She got a good portion of steak on her nachos and the chips were fresh. She said the steak was tender and there was no grissel. Our biggest complaint and the reason for the 3 star rating is that both the beef and steak had basically no flavor. There was ample cheese and tomatoes on my tacos and she received ample toppings on her nachos. Everything tasted fresh. Next time I will try the steak burrito to see if that fares any better. Service was adequate but the guys preparing the food do not seem to be in any hurry regardless of the number of customer orders in the queue. read more

This location is always slow for the most part and understaffed. Went in once again to grab a "quick" bite to eat. There was a family of 5 at the register and I patiently waited. No one else came to help take my order. I stood there 10 minutes while the family argued about and debated their order. There were 2 other employees that walked by. No one offered to take my order. 5 more minutes go by. 15 minutes waiting to order two tacos! Ive noticed that consistently either the wait is too long or they get your order wrong. On a really bad day, both happen! Also, I feel like most times that just throw your food together. They give you more cheese on your taco than meat. I think they should be proportioned. I keep coming here because it's convenient and I like that they make their food with fresh ingredients but when I have time I drive to the next closest one which is about an additional 10-12 minutes away because the food is prepared better, it's always hot and I never have to wait long. read more

I was rushing to a volleyball game, and went through the drive thru, we sat there for well over 5 minutes, no one came on the speaker, a van was at the pick up window, so I figured they were just filling a big order, so I sat, and sat, and sat, I tried to back up, but could only back so far because another car blocked me in, but I noticed the back door was open and employees walking all around, that saw me and the other 3 cars, then I thought yikes something is not right. Finally the van in front of me finally pulled out, so I pulled up to the window, for the staff once again to pretend we weren't there, finally a man opened window and said, sorry were closed, I was like what, it's 4 in the afternoon. So I said what, and he goes, we are closed, we have no power. Just a thought, maybe you could of taped a note saying that at the doors and drive thru speakers,. Instead of watching customers get blocked into your drive thru, while you completely ignore all 3 cars. Disappointed and seems rediculous to me. read more

I literally have never had such consistently bad service from any one establishment. I am forced to eat here when I'm hungry later in the evening because there isn't anything opened past 10pm in Smyrna. Every single time I come here (which is more times than I'd like to admit), they get my order wrong (4 hard tacos with no cheese, it's really not that difficult), the staff is rude, the taco is thrown together and a lot of times the shell is broken, and you will never get in the drive through line and not wait more than 15 minutes to get through...no matter how few cars are in front of you. When they get my order wrong, I normally just suck it up and eat whatever they give me. However, the one time I went in to get my order fixed, I received SO much grief from the people who worked there...because they got my order wrong??? DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO!!!! We have been here a couple of times. I have enjoyed the soft shell chicken tacos and fries. The staff is helpful and friendly. This is a fast food joint so, not the best tacos I ever had, but enough for a quick snack. The bathrooms are not the cleanest I've ever seen, but adequate. The tables are also dirty. read more

A couple of weeks ago, I put in an order of 8 street tacos, and none of the tacos in my order had avocado. Since that's my favorite part about the tacos, I called to let the manager know. She guaranteed me a replacement of my order free of charge and said that she wrote my name down for later. I just went in the redeem the offer, and the manager on duty got defensive quickly and told me I needed the name of the manager I had spoken to. Sad.
