When I saw this open i was pretty excited. In Pacific Beach, CA, I used to frequent one all the time. I have tried several different things here. Their tacos are alright but don't really stand out, in my opinion. Considering there is a Taco Bell across the street you'd think they'd up the ante. For a while they used to give a fresh cut lime with their fish tacos, last time I didn't get one. I guess times are tough all over. The staff is usually really personable and I have never really had bad service. The other day I had the new Carnitos Combo Burrito. To begin, the first bite consisted of just burrito shell. The second bite was the best part of the burrito because it had the slow cooked carnita part. The remaining few bites were just filled with beans and other fillers. The carnita meat was seasoned well and the one bite was excellent it was just disappointing that the whole burrito wasn't as good. To sum up, not a bad place. I wouldn't go out of my way to get to it but hey... it's still better quality than Taco Bell. read more

Overwhelmingly diverse was the first thing that came to my mind when I first entered Del Taco. At first, I thought it was just a variation on the same ole, same ole- an alternative to the Taco Bell that most only late night club-heads or families with kids bother with. At any rate, it was something new in my neighborhood and I looked forward to trying it. I'm a little picky when it comes to Mexican food. Not a shredded cheese-lover, so being cautious, I ordered the classic tacos with only lettuce. HOWEVER, Del Taco offers chicken nachos (which I ordered minus the tomatoes, sour cream, guac or refried beans-yuck!). The nachos were decent, but I would have liked a little more queso. To top things off, I ordered a large strawberry lemonade(EXCELLENT) which boasts actual sliced strawberries that settle to the bottom of your cup, unlike the pre-made powdery variety sold by McDonalds. For 2 tacos, the lemonade and nachos, my tab came to a very affordable $8 and some change. My second visit was pretty much the same as the first-although this time around, I took advantage of "Taco Tuesdays" where they offer three tacos for $1.09. This time I nixed the nachos, added fries( standard crinkle-cut that you can find in the frozen food section, but tasty nonetheless) and three of the best "homebaked" chocolate chip cookies I've had in a while. I was struck by the sheer number of prep workers in the kitchen. On both visits, they seemed to be running 15 deep. My only qualms were the friendly, but somewhat bossy manager that was assisting the cashier. She kept insisting that I order "her favorite" items, that weren't really faves of mine( i.e. anything with refried beans). Also, the consistency of the meat in the tacos were on the same level as Taco Bell, but what do you expect from quick service Mexican joints? Oops..almost forgot the salsa bar which allows you to pick the salsas and sauces that you prefer. By the way, Del Taco also offers, of all things, cheeseburgers...I haven't tried them yet (the area is saturated with Wendy's, Burger King and McDonalds already) but the pic looks pretty good. I know I know I know. 5 stars for a fast food Amerexican chain. But this Del Taco deserves it. It's not for the food. Don't get me wrong. It's tasty and fresh each time. The 5 stars is really for the customer service. I happen to have the most annoying allergy when it comes to any food other than burgers and regular food fare. This hard working employee at the East Cobb Del Taco not only put my order in a separate bag but remembered me 4 days after I came through the drive through and while taking my order for the return visit, advised me that she would be changing her gloves to make my order. In. Cred. Ible. Seriously this is just a regular fast food order and she took it that far to go above & beyond to help me. All with a smile I could hear through the speaker and upon arrival to the window. Go to this Del Taco. Ugh... I was so excited to see that a new place was opening after my dear Pollo Loco was shut down (sad,sad,sad...). Del Taco. Now,at first thought,I had nothing but high hopes & anticipation. Look,they are coming soon. Oh,they are gonna be open 24 hours per day. Oh,look...there are people who are so excited to have had Del Taco,they are taking photos by the sign... Must be great! Turned down going anywhere else on date night to make sure we got up on this new spot right away. Well... Lets just cut to the chase. Disappointed. They had french fries as a side order. No beans? No corn? French fries and a taco,huh? I ordered some steak taco. Triple yuck. One bite & I was done. I took it back & asked for something else that was slightly cheaper. I asked for the fish tacos,but by the time I gave them all my preferences blended with their offerings,I was done to some fish on a shell. And,they made it wrong...twice. Then,I realized they never offered to give the funds back from the first order. Well,I will gladly leave the difference there. That is my stupid tax payment for trying it anyway. Went inside at 3 PM on a Saturday afternoon. Parking lot was pretty empty. Walking up to the counter I can see the prep area. Lots of stuff laying on the floor...look pretty nasty. Got a small chicken Taco combo. For it to be a fast food establishment, it took longer than it should to get my food. Not only does this place not take the time to clean. The self-serve soft drink counter was also pretty nasty. Liquids spilled inside the lemon tray, and the lid for small cups were practically empty. Then there was the salsa/sauce counter with no salsa, and no little cups to put the sauce. There were a few tables inside that had grease and food smudge. Place just looked like nobody bothers with the basic cleanliness and detail. Food was cold and bland. Now I understand why the parking lot is always empty and Taco Bell's parking lot across the street is always full. read more

I was first a skeptic. This place was very new to me, and I had heard this name once. My thoughts and ideals changed instantly when I walked in. The aesthetics of the restaurant were very welcoming. I usually love del taco... But this morning I came at 4am to get something to eat... They had a sign in the drive thru that said they were closed for 30mins... It was strange to me bc i saw the employees in there... 2 of them... Granted it was not busy at all and I was the only car... . So I drive up and ask if they were really closed... The lady at the window said ppl called off and they can only make small orders... Which is insane to me seeing it was 2 ppl at work and they had a closed sign bc they couldn't make any food... I've been hearing about Del Taco for a long time and wanting to try it out - however very rarely in Cobb county or near this place. It finally happened and all I can say is...pretty forgettable. The set up is similar to a taco bell. The food appears to be fresher. We tried about 5 different things off the menu and each one was only okay. The fish taco had a corn tortilla - which I don't like - so that was a throw away. The quesadilla and chicken burrito were our favorite two things, but not spectacular in their own. Coming up the side street to turn into the parking lot, isn't the greatest. The drive through entrance is right there and you have to make a sharp turn. So if you have a large vehicle, it won't work. You'll have to drive all the way around the parking lot just to come back to the drive through. Enough of my rant. The only thing I have to say is, you must get the cheese cake Rolls a.k.a. bites that they call them. Those things are amazing! They're warm and taste just like cheesecake! I really don't like getting tacos from here, because they wrap them in tinfoil which makes the shell or softshell taco get all that condensation and makes it kind of soggy. So it's better to eat inside of there rather than going through the drive-through and taking them home. Or you can just eat in your vehicle in the parking lot. That always saves it too. read more

Del Taco is my favorite fast food restaurant. I remember when they were around years ago, and I was so excited to hear they are back in Georgia. I've been to several locations on the West coast as well, and all locations have been great. As a vegetarian, they have many choices, which is a blessing! I usually get the bean taco with hard shell...and it's never stale. I also get the bean burrito with red sauce. You can ask for green sauce on the side. It's pretty good. They also have a salsa bar. You can choose whichever sauce you want. The mild sauce is a little spicy for me. I wish they had a milder sauce. They also have surveys available on the receipts sometimes to get a $1 off the next item. The menu is already cheap enough, you really don't need any coupons/deals. Del Taco is MUCH better than Taco Bell. I'll never go back to Taco Bell. I wish they would have more Del Taco's in metro Atlanta....best value for the price! read more

I go here during my lunch break and am able to pop in and out despite the traffic on Cobb Parkway. The food is always fresh and warm, and the service is a great as a fast food chain gets. I haven't tried too many of their menu items, just their chicken ranch soft tacos (which I'm in love with) and their ice coffee and strawberry lemonade. Their drinks are okay, nothing great and I wasn't a fan of their iced coffee. Their chicken ranch soft tacos are AWESOME!! Did not enjoy my first visit to this del taco. I walked in and said hello to the woman behind the desk and she literally said nothing. She Didn't even crack a smile. I think this place is excellent all around. I would say that it's a classier version of Taco Bell. The food is delicious, and also very inexpensive. The kitchen staff is very disorganized, and often times they end up giving you more food than you ordered, which is also a plus. The employees are all very friendly. Friend was in the mood for something quick. This was literally right in front of us as we drove around on NYD. Ordered 6 items, 2 burritos, 3 tacos and 1 something else. The idea of Mexican food with fries is a little odd, but it works. The fries are pretty good. I'm a huge fan of Fish Tacos so that's naturally where I went on the menu the first several times. Originally they came with lime slices but that seems to have stopped. They are merely OK compared to some I had in San Diego, but in a town like Atl where nobody has even heard of Fish Tacos, Del Taco is relatively acceptable. Authentic? No. But who else even tries around here? The taco and burrito I tried also seemed more authentic than a Taco Bell. The service can vary tremendously depending on who is on duty. It always seems to be different people every time I visit and one manager who seems to be there all the time, always frowning about something. Staff pick up their cue from management so I'd like to see more smiles starting at the top. It will rub off on all the other employees and that's good for everyone. The self-serve drink station is about as messy as you might find at any similar self-serve dispenser. I love the convenience but it only takes one person to make a flood. It takes top-notch staff to keep these things clean. Regret to say it seems like Del Taco does not focus on this. The Salsa bar is occasionally out of napkins or condiment cups. Again, needs focus on restocking just like the drink station especially since this area can't be seen from the checkout. The salsa itself is decent. One of them is actually hot-hot which is unheard of in this kind of QSR, Normally these places go out of their way to avoid offering anything with flavor to anyone, lest somebody take offense. Del Taco clearly is not afraid of that. So there is a nice, hot sauce to remind you of why you have taste buds. Excellent. It's the one in the pump dispenser, not the one with the ladle. Pricing starts cheap but it's easy to hit $8 territory for a combo -my combo of one taco, one burrito, drink and fries hit $8 yesterday. This means the pricing is just like any other QSR. The real distinguishing factor is the food and that hot sauce. Bottom line: Not a bad choice at all, worth a half-hour drive in my case. I hope to see more locations open soon. This chain has a great shot at becoming the next chain to take on Atlanta. Can't happen too soon. read more

I was significantly overcharged in the drive thru for the next customers order and not refunded. I was mislead by the management that if I came back the next day I would be able to get refunded and I was not. I came back the next day for them to tell me if it isn't refunded 30 mins after transaction it's nothing they can do.
