Living on the west coast for a number of years Del Taco was a staple. So imagine my excitement when they finally came to Michigan!!! (Insert happy dance) I started with their strawberry lemonade. This has real strawberries in it and is super tasty, not too sweet. The fish taco was on point with my lime wedge. It came with fries which were gobbled so quickly they didn't make the pic. The chicken soft tacos are sooooooooo good. I love the sauce that come on them. This is the one item that is always perfection and why I go to them. Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love Del Taco. This location has took a giant dump on my passion for that. Lazy as shit, rude as hell & for whatever reason these idiots don't know how to cook french fries. I guess because "Covid" they feel they don't have to wait until the fries are warm & cooked. Absolutely zero shits given as they throw cold ass damn near raw ass fries in the bag, multiple times. Now I understand why Taco Bell was nervous when this chain came to Michigan. I was so use to skinny little tacos from there and other fast food places, that I got the National Taco Day special of 2 regular tacos for $2.75. With my eating habits, I could have just gotten away with 1. Stuff full of meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato (even when I asked for them to go light on the lettuce and tomatoes) that it was messy to eat. Happy to find that they had mild sauce, but that was useless because because of the fact the taco meat was spicy. Very hot mouth and glad that they had Coke products and free refills - needed that. Maybe they should add ice cream to the dessert menu to help customers cool off those taste buds. Service was quick and friendly. Large menu gave you choices. Being an acid reflux sufferer, I probably won't be back until it is for lunch. EBS would have loved celebrating tacos for any reason. Good quality for a cheapass price. read more

As i walked in 4 of them were standing at the counter ( 1 man and 3 women). While walking up the man stared me in my eyes until i got closer than turned back into the conversation. None of them stopped their convo to great me. As i interrupted their convo to order. The older heavy set woman seemed to have a demeanor of not wanting to be there. I went to the restroom (which was dirty). When i came back i watched them hand my food between all 4 of them like a hot fucking potato then just handed me the food. I'm not sure whose recipe they use but their food does not taste like any other Del Taco and their customer service always sucks. On top of that they say they are "privately-owned" so they don't participate in corporate promos like other locations. I won't be going to this location again. I only gave it two stars because of the drive through associate. She was very pleasant. Meanwhile, the food wasn't. The first attempt, I ordered the fried chicken tacos and fries. All were cold. Not warm, but COLD! We circled back to the drive through and they gave me hot food. The chicken wasn't chicken at all. It was processed SOMETHING, but it wasn't chicken. The fries were good, but overall, I wasn't impressed. I went for the grilled shrimp tacos, but they didn't have those. I was passing by today and since I've seen so many great reviews for this place I hit up the drive thru for my first taste. I'm a total convert now. First off the drive thru is fast, clean and friendly. Second the food tasted much fresher than T-Bell's and it was just better looking all around! The carnitas, which may only be here for a limited time, were delicious with the guac and the double tortilla soft shell. The chicken taco was far more natural tasting than T-Bell's with a nice amount of cheese and real lettuce that didn't look so processed. The Pollo Asado had a nice salsa/taco sauce on it and the chicken tasted real. On top of that their Inferno sauce, better than the Bell's also. As if that wasn't enough their prices are crazy inexpensive and they run specials weekly...and thanks to Regina's tip I get the emails now for all their great specials and updates. I meant to get a few regular tacos but the menu being new to me threw me off a little so I'll be back for sure. I only wish they had a Mexican pizza and I wouldn't have a reason to go back to the Bell. I will say that their food while tasting fresher and cleaner doesn't use as much seasoning as the Bell so it tastes a little bland but in the way that makes me think that I'm eating something loaded with salt and flavor enhancers...just an FYI if you haven't eaten here...that was my initial impression. Pros: -They are open 24 hours -They have what might be the best fast food breakfast menu around, also served 24 hours. All cooked to order. No "egg pucks" to be found. -Their fish tacos are better than they have any right to be Cons: -Their two best menu features (see Pros) are things most sane people would not risk from a fast food Mexican joint -The quality of the Mexican stuff on their menu is hit it miss. Honestly sometimes better than Taco Bell and sometimes not so much (at least for my tastes) -Their American food is unimpressive, at best. The burgers are novel but bland and usually overcooked. The fries are abysmal to the point where I do not order their "value meals" here because the grody fries actually remove value rather than add it. Other Considerations: -They do catering, and it is cheap. -They handle large orders fairly gracefully with a bit of notice. With a days notice or even just a couple hours notice, have fed groups of 50+ for work events, without hiccup -Service here is hit or miss. They oddly seem slowest when they are the least busy, like middle of the night and early morning. -They have hand pumps for their different hot sauces, so you don't have to waste little packets when you dine in -Del Taco has a serviceable desert menu (particularly their Churro) and had this option LONG before Taco Bell decided to get into the desert game -My score of 3 takes into consideration the fact that this is a FAST FOOD Mexican place. I used to really like this place but lately their prices are killing me. Fast food at restaurant prices, no thanks, I'll just go to a real Mexican restaurant that gets my order right. $30 for two people and it is only slightly higher than Taco Bell quality. They charged us for an extra quesadilla that we didn't want but we did receive. We had to repeat our order several times because the guy at the drive-through doesn't speak English as a first language, which I don't have a problem with unless you get my order wrong. The Carnitas were chewy, not tender as they should be. Overpriced. The best thing I got was a ground turkey hardshell taco and for two bucks that's worth it. The rest of our order was not, most of our platas went in the trash. I wish I hadn't wasted the money or the calories. I would probably get the tacos again but not anytime soon since the rest of their food is overpriced and not very good. However, if I want a taco at 3 AM they're the best place to go since Taco Bell is the only other option around here and they are not an option in my opinion. read more
