It's in a pretty nice part of East Bay so we did not anticipate any problems and it was a good stay. This hotel was quite peaceful and quiet for being pretty full on the one night we stayed. Staff were friendly, we did not have much interactions with any of them. The young man at check-in seemed a bit nonchalant and not the most courteous, but he ended up placing us in a large accessible room and the beds were a little bigger or at least taller and the shower being accessible was actually really nice b/c it was spacious and the water did NOT go all over the place, thankfully. On the next morning, we always look forward to fueling up. Breakfast was plentiful although a meat-based sausage was missing and desired over the veggie sausage rounds that were served. At least there were hard boiled eggs instead of egg substitutes type of scrambled eggs or "egg omelet" made with fake eggs (Holiday Inn Express' specialty, bleh). There were even biscuits w/gravy and country fried potatoes. I didn't try the biscuits, but I did have a bit of gravy over a bit of potatoes and over a couple of those veggie sausages that didn't taste too bad. However, I know the veggie sausages are probably made w/some soy protein isolates and who knows what other interesting ingredients, so even though they tasted almost real, I only had a couple of them. Interestingly, they also had bean & cheese burritos and guacamole for breakfast, and my kids really enjoyed them. I really like the guac myself. Of course the DIY waffle bar was a hit with everyone, there was quite a queue for that waffle maker. We liked the variety of choices at breakfast and that it was a hot breakfast with many items of all kinds. So generally a good breakfast, the staff refilling it was efficient and friendly. The breakfast area was pretty hot though, need a couple of fans to make up for the open area where the air conditioning ends up cooling the 1st floor but the 2nd floor was quite warm. A couple other notes: the fitness center was bigger and had more equipment than expected so that was nice, but the machines were older and off brand, though they worked well enough. We didn't use the pool and spa, but they looked a little bit dirty but upon closer look, it's that the surface of the pool and spa have been discolored and probably not dirty Overall, it was a good short stay here and we'd come back for another stay, as this La Quinta was ok, not the best, but plenty good enough.

I really enjoyed having a kitchenette in the room with plates, utensils, pots, a pan, etc. We went to Safeway to purchase items to cook on the stove or in the microwave, and they were easy to use. The ladies at the front desk were nice at check in and were helpful with getting what I needed for laundry. The laundry room was easy to use as well- $2.75 for the washer, $2.75 for the dryer, and 1.65 to purchase laundry detergent from the front desk. I loved this convenience as well to not pack as much. Overall, a great place to stay in Livermore!

They have a washer and dryer and this was so needed for a long trip. They provide you with free tide soap. It's $7 total to wash and dry. The service was so good. The lady who is like a host during breakfast was so kind!! She knows her regular customers. She's like a house mom. lol. She will go out of her way to make sure you're comfortable. The breakfast was on point and they serve bacon strips during the week. I really love it's close to the freeway. This is a must when I am in town!!!!

There were positives & negatives. Positives: Friendly staff; Big room and bathroom w/ a kitchen. You expect the foregoing from a residence inn; Decent sized gym; Ok sized pool; Negatives: Not sure how the room I was given is an upgrade for a Platinum Elite. A two bedroom vs a one bedroom would have been an upgrade; Maid service every other day. The foregoing should be at the customer's option. Other chains give bonus points for being "green". Mandatory every other day maid service was clearly a way to save money; No bacon or potatoes every day; No jacuzzi, no closet, no safe, no stand to put your luggage on, and the phone did not work; Had to carry my luggage up to the second floor; No backup roll of toilet paper for three people. I have stayed at RI's all around the US & Canada, and have had positive experiences. The stay in Livermore was a lot of "No's". This was not a good use of my points. Had the front desk been unfriendly, this review would have been a Two Star 2uesday. I'll make sure I stay at a different Marriott property, or a different hotel chain the next time I visit.

1 Star -- Extremely disappointing experience I am extremely…read moredisappointed with our experience at Holiday Inn & Suites Silicon Valley - Milpitas by IHG. My daughter works night shift in the ICU at Stanford Hospital and commutes to work. She is pregnant and experiencing significant nausea and exhaustion, so she booked a room specifically from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. so she could safely sleep and rest between shifts. Her coworker, who is also pregnant and works alongside her, decided to share the room. When they arrived, they were told the hotel had overbooked and cancelled their reservation. They explained their situation and asked to speak with the manager. They were told it was not the manager's fault, and the manager refused to come out of her office to speak with them. The front desk employee was left trying to find another hotel for two exhausted, pregnant healthcare workers who were simply trying to get some sleep between ICU shifts. Thankfully, the housekeeping manager heard what was happening and went out of his way to help. He found the girls a room and asked them to be out by 4:30 p.m. However, the manager in the office initially refused to allow that. A third manager eventually stepped in and spoke with the first manager. After all of this, it was finally decided that the girls could stay until 4:00 p.m. , nearly six hours less than what they had originally reserved , and they would still be charged the full price. And then they got to their room and there was no electricity. At that point, the entire purpose of booking the room, getting some much-needed sleep between ICU shifts, was compromised yet again. I want to give credit to the front desk employee and housekeeping manager, who genuinely tried to help and showed compassion. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled by management was extremely disappointing. Hotels make mistakes. How you handle those mistakes matters. Overbooking and cancelling a reservation is already unacceptable, but refusing to personally speak with guests, providing a room without electricity, cutting their reserved time by nearly six hours, and still charging them full price is simply not how guests should be treated. I would strongly encourage anyone looking for a hotel in the Milpitas/Silicon Valley area to consider other options before booking here. Based on this experience, we will not be returning.
