I am a local here in New Orleans so I'm very particular on the food here (meaning alot of the places offering Gumbo are "TOURIST TRAPS") I was craving a duck gumbo... yelp showed this restaurant and I was curious about the great reviews and decided to go try for myself. I was seated with a server named "Cean" who was extremely friendly and recommended the duck gumbo and raw "murder points" oysters. When my duck gumbo arrived, I was immediately impressed with how flavorful and absolutely DELICIOUS the duck gumbo was! When Cean came out with my raw "murder points" oysters he was so accommodating and nice!!! I enjoyed every bit of my delicious fresh oysters while having a great conversation with Cean. Cean then wanted to introduce me to the executive chef Wiley Lewis. Suddenly at my table I looked up and an absolutely beautiful blonde woman who looked like the supermodel "Claudia Schiffer" was greeting me at my table as Chef Wiley Lewis. She asked me how I enjoyed her menu and I told her I'm loving every bite at her restaurant and we had a great 5 minute conversation. I literally experienced the absolute best service from both Chef Wiley and Cean today than I've ever had from ANY restaurant here in New Orleans ever!!! Not only was the food a 10/10 but the service and hospitality was a 10/10!!!! This was by far my best dining experience ever in New Orleans!!!! Our visit to Delacroix was the highlight of our New Orleans trip. When we visit New Orleans, I like to visit one iconic restaurant and one contemporary restaurant. While researching, I read the Delacroix menu to my wife and we're in agreement to dine here. I must point out, reservations are a must. Walking up to the restaurant, It's a massive space. Situated on the Mississippi river, Delacroix is picturesque location with both indoor and outdoor seating. As we entered the restaurant, we were shown to our seats and Chef Wiley Wilkinson Lewis said hello to us? Folks, that is southern hospitality at its finest. Cocktails are a must and I started with Marsh Fire: Hibiscus bourbon, ginger, pineapple, orgeat, Polynesian Kiss bitters This was a fantastic cocktail! I'm not sure what Hibiscus Bourbon is but I want it every day. Our waiter comes to the table and we place our starter orders. Grilled Oysters are a must, I want to try their gumbo and Tempura Shrimp with Duck Fat Caramel just sounds krazy good. The Grilled Oysters come out. Every well known spot in New Orleans has their version of Grilled Oysters. They slop on their parmesan butter mixture and now you have a tasty treat. No! The Delacroix Grilled Oysters, were a chef'd up version of a New Orleans classic dish. Next was Billy's Smoked Duck Gumbo. I *loved* this Gumbo, from the duck to the dark roux, this was a very flavorful dish. I'm not understanding the deviled egg? I had to spoon the egg out of the dish. Billy.. And don't say "Bless my heart"! If this is how this dish is supposed to be served then pardon my ignorance. My wife and I couldn't get enough of the Tempura Shrimp with Duck Fat Caramel. Wow! This dish was cooked perfectly. I would of been satisfied with just this dish for my dinner. I had Red Fish when I first arrived in New Orleans, I wanted to try the Delacroix version. The Grilled Red Fish was prepared with creamed corn and a *spicy crab butter?? Another fantastic dish. After we paid our bill, my wife stops Chef Wiley Wilkinson Lewis and tells her how much she loved the Tempura Shrimp with Duck Fat Caramel. Chef Wiley explained the how they make the crab butter. Living in New Orleans you eat a lot of red beans. The beans here are some of if not the best in the city. I didn't love the fried chicken but it was exceptionally well made and had the crisp crust you love. The green beans were a little too al dente for my taste but they were flavorful. Came here for restaurant week and came with some friends over to Delacroix. The location is amazing along the Mississippi river in a newly refurbished building near the riverwalk. The best of the dishes we tried was the crispy fish collars, perfectly fried fish with a bunch of meat on the collars and edible bones. I had the watermelon salad for my second course and my entree was the turtle with fried catfish. The turtle was very underwhelming and almost tasted like it was leftovers, it wasnt even warm. The fish on the other hand was perfectly fried. For dessert we had the cobbler which again was excellent. Overall other than the turtle it was a great dinner. I will be back. read more

On my first night in New Orleans, we decided to try De La Croix for dinner, and it was just alright. The server was great, and the space itself has a great ambiance. You can see the Mississippi River from the restaurant since it's right on the waterfront. I started with a Shirley Temple, which was good, and we got a loaf of bread that wasn't my favorite. It was very crumbly and basically fell apart when you touched it. My main complaint is that there aren't many options for vegetarians. I don't eat red meat or shellfish, which left me with only a Caesar salad and fries to choose from. The salad was peppery and flavorful, but I still left dinner pretty hungry. Overall, it's hard for me to fully judge the restaurant since I wasn't able to try one of their entrées, but if you're vegetarian, just be aware that your options are pretty limited. read more

A local recommended Delacroix, and it's one of the best meals I've had. I loved it so much that I ate here three days out of my four-day trip. The grilled redfish is perfection. Freshly caught from a local fishing town of their namesake, perfectly cooked, and topped with a crawfish butter that is packed with the authentic local flavor. I ate it three days in a row. Beautiful spot near the river. Lovely interior and plenty of outside seating. Alicia was our server - very sweet. Chef Wiley was visiting every table which was such a nice surprise. A group of 6 of us went last night. The service was good. The prices were through the roof. The food was just okay. We started with some specialty cocktails which were delicious. We ordered the crispy snapper collars. Be careful with this appetizer. It is full of bones. I was startled by that and did not eat another bite of that appetizer. We ordered boudin balls and chargrilled oysters. Both were delicious. For our entrees, my husband ordered the grilled redfish with creamed corn and spicy crawfish butter. It was very tasty. I wish I had ordered that. I ordered the Turtle Sauce Piquante and Morgan City wild catfish. The fish was freshly fried but the sauce was not hot at all. A friend ordered the seafood salad and she said it was just basic. We ordered 3 desserts to share around the table. Two of the three were really good. First time here & going to give it 5 stars out of the gate (which is rare for me). 1. Is the overall vibe inside. Tables were not cramped together and there was space to move about. Floor to ceiling windows also help even spots further from the water still have a bit of a view. 2. Cocktail options. Between the 2 of us we had 6 different ones (don't judge) and liked them all. Prices were reasonable for that part of town & the presentation was great. I think 3 had flowers in them. 3. Unique food options that were good. Started with crispy snapper collar. I didn't know what it was but the BF was excited for them. Great presentation and very good. Chef also came by to check on us (and other tables which I appreciated), we also got 1/2 dozen oysters which they let you mix and match with so you're not stuck with only 1 type. Beautiful new restaurant, perfectly situated along the great Mississippi River. Great views. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious. We shared a variety of appetizers, I personally enjoyed the hot boudin balls. The crawfish ettouffee was perfectly seasoned and you could tell these were no frozen crawfish like at many local venues. To top it off, we had the best dessert I've ever had: strawberry shortcrust with fresh local Pontchatoula strawberries. The chef brought out multiple of our dishes herself. We stumble up on Delacroix restaurant after a day of shopping, this is a pretty huge restaurant with large windows beautiful decor, and a nice size patio, and the location is just steps from the mighty Mississippi river, the view is just breathtaking. We were seated right away and waited about 20 mins. no one came to our table, I got up and started taking pictures of all of the empty tables, "Yelp about it" I would Imagine someone saw me taking photo's with then mins. a staff was at our table, I started expressing my disappointment to him, he was very nice and he apologize and offered us free drinks, and told us they were doing a photo shoot for their web page, they had only been open a few weeks, our food was very delicious. I was eagerly following the opening of this spot and managed to snag a reservation during a work trip to NOLA which happened to be during the restaurant's first month of operation. Located at the base of the Four Seasons, Delacroix is part of the rejuvenated Spanish Square at the bottom of Canal Street adjacent to the Hilton and the big outlet mall. The renovation of the building is beautiful, especially as the structure sparkles in the evening light. Delacroix is reportedly the only waterfront dining in the city and the tasteful raised patio seating would offer a nice view (if you are heartier than I am and don't mind the NOLA weather.) The interior decor is gorgeous yet unfussy. A dining room Joanna Gaines might have designed if she was from NOLA. On Saturday night of the Halloween parade, the restaurant seemed only about 2/3 full. As they were turning away people without reservations, I'm wondering if there were a lot of no shows or folks who couldn't make it because of the parade traffic? It's a peaceful place as it is but it felt especially quiet inside. The menu is an interesting combination of comfort foods and fancy dishes. I saw many plates of sandwiches on buns with fries being delivered and a lot of others seemed to know that the same Seafood Salad that I ordered would actually be entree sized. It was a lot of food. I did think that there were too many red and fried onions in the salad, overpowering the delicate crab and shrimp and dressing, but that could just be me. Don't get me wrong, it was still very good. My date reported that the redfish with crab butter and corn was quite good as well but needed a starch so we ordered a $3 loaf of poboy bread (is there a name for this?) which was served piping hot right from the oven. The Seafood Pistolettes were the standout of our meal, ordered as an appetizer. Small bread bites are stuffed with seafood and get flash-fried until crisp, served piping hot with a spicy aioli. Delicious! Though a new spot, the staff did not seem new at all. They must have have hired folks with a lot of experience and then trained them well. There were no opening month jitters to be seen anywhere and they all seemed like pros. A nice, relaxing dinner and a pleasant experience. Two weeks into October, Delacroix hasn't been open for quite a month, but I found myself back for a second visit already. Chef Besh, Chef Wiley, and GM Roger Eyles have given New Orleans the most perfect, elevated, Cajun dining experience. So much about Delacroix feels "down home." And the food will make you wish you could move in. The location is unexpectedly amazing. Now that (hopefully not fake) fall has set in, I cannot wait to go back and dine outside, riverside. However, the wrap around windows allow for a great view from anywhere within. The decor is authentic not kitschy. The warmth of the wood balances the deep blues. It feels comfortable and welcoming, the way any Cajun would want you to feel in their kitchen or dining room. I feel like I've tried nearly everything on the menu now, but I know that isn't true. I'll just provide a list of my favorites: Seafood Plateau (best way to do the raw bar), Crispy Snapper Collars, Crabby Rice, Seafood Salad, Momma's Drum Almandine, and the Grilled Redfish. Honorable mention: Cajun Pistolettes and Shrimp Creole. Curious to try next time: Turtle Sauce Piquante. I haven't tried the buns yet, but I sat next to someone with the softshell crab, and it looked amazing. What about dessert, you say? Well, they're all so good that dessert needed its own paragraph. On our first visit we had the Baked Bismarck, Lemon Tart, and an ice cream sandwich that isn't on the menu now. All three were delicious, but the tart was my winner - and I don't eat lemon desserts. The wild berry compote balanced the tartness of the lemon perfectly. I really thought I would be getting it again, but there is now bread pudding as an option. Bread pudding is my favorite dessert. And my favorite bread pudding already belongs to Besh. So, I had to try this one. It is unlike any BP I've had before. Texturally it is perfection. But the addition of satsuma and butterscotch to the flavors is new and exciting. It doesn't beat my other Besh favorite (it's at Lüke btw), but it absolutely is one I will recommend. I'll probably alternate it with the tart on all future visits. As I try to wrap up what may be my longest review ever, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their cocktails. The menu has lots of interesting flavors and combinations - my favorite is the Marsh Fire. It's the perfect pre-dinner cocktail. Refreshing, but spirited enough to lift the weight of the day from your shoulders. All of the above said, I think it's pretty clear that I think John Besh has absolutely knocked his return out of the park. There's nothing I don't love about this place... other than how close it is to work and how much I might spend there. I can't wait to go back. And I can't wait to see what Besh does next! read more

The restaurant is super cute. It's very bright. The decor is boat themed and when I was there people patronizing the restaurant seemed to dress like they were on a boat. The service was good. We had a nice friendly server and the host was friendly too. I originally wanted to sit outside to catch the sunset by the river but it was a rainy day so we sat inside. Next time I'll definitely sit outside. I started with a drink called Green Isle and it was amazing. It made me feel like I was at a 5 star beach resort somewhere near the Indian Ocean. For starters we got the duck popper meat pie and the crispy snapper collars. Both of these were so good. They were probably the highlight of my meal. The meat inside the meat pie was so flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The outside was flaky and soft. The crispy snapper collars might be one of the best things I've had this year. Delacroix just opened this week, and I have to say, it's a strong start! The gumbo and meat pie were easily the stars of the night: rich, seasoned perfectly, and full of flavor. Honestly, the appetizers set the bar high and might've been my favorite part of the meal. The drinks were solid, balanced and refreshing and the main courses were good, though they didn't quite hit the same level of excitement as the starters. Still, they were enjoyable and well-prepared. They also came out really quick . The only real letdown for me was the bread pudding. It had great flavor, but the texture was too spongy and just felt a little off compared to everything else. Overall, Delacroix is definitely worth checking out. The place itself was very nice. Felt as if I was in a beachfront restaurant. What a fantastic experience. The food is fantastic. The view of the Mississippi is pretty good from most of the restaraunt. At the bar, look for Waites, he invented many of the drinks and he's sure to make you smile - and take good care of you. I ate here for a work dinner on a weekday night and every dish we ordered was delicious. The chef/owner has really leaned into a vibe of elevated bayou/cajun. The seafood salad was so yum and not too mayo-y. The fried snapper collar was surprising and fun. The chargrilled oysters were better than others I've had, and the mixture really gelled to the oyster in one good bite. I would be excited to go back and try more things! read more

My husband and I both said if the food is as good as the appetizer we cannot wait! I had the Momma's Drum Almandine. It is flash fried. And the fish stayed hot through the entire meal. It was flaky and not over done. My husband had the Southern Fried Chicken and Red Beans. He said his chicken was juicy and fried perfectly. Nothing was over done. The portions are very generous. One of the other things we really appreciated was how relaxed the staff make you feel. It has been so long since we have had good fine dining where you order your appetizer it comes; They allow time for you to finish your appetizer before ordering your meal. We had a wonderful post-graduation lunch for twelve at Delacroix. The place was a little hard to find - right next to, and basically blocked by the ferry terminal. Once we found it in the rain, the restaurant was inviting, and the staff was great. Wine and food were excellent. The only blemish was a miscommunication over a few bottles of wine. I have a dozen oysters on the half shell excellent starting point then I had a cup of the gumbo with duck. OMG this was so delicious. I should've gotten a bowl. Love the FOOD and ambiance. Great shade during the afternoon heat as well. I went back because I enjoyed their gulf Shrimp and Grits. It was the best creamy grits I had tried so far. Then on my return the menu was different. I had chosen Turtle Sauce piquante and Morgan city wild catfish w jasmine rice. The stew had great flavor, I can taste the wine reduction, was definitely a winner and the meat was soft and Not salty. My husband ordered the Louisana seafood bun ans it was just filled with fried jumbo shrimp and oysters. It was really big to bite down onto but worth the price. Had a good experience for dinner at Delacroix on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is very spacious and beautifully decorated. Service was friendly and informative as there were a lot of items on the menu that needed further clarification. We ordered the stone crab claws which were delicious but felt the price tag was high for what we received. The pistolettes filled with crab and shrimp were also very tasty. I ordered the seafood salad which was generously portioned however there was so much dressing it was hard to eat and because of that I couldn't eat most of it. Great new spot in Nola on the Riverwalk. The food is traditional Cajun so lots of flavors but most entrees in true Cajun fashion tend to be a bit on the heavier side so just be mindful so you don't over order. I went here for a work dinner and a lot of our party was disappointed in the number of beer options. The chef came out and checked on us which was a nice added touch. I recommend this spot for the views of the river just as much as the food. Weather permitting, don't sleep on the patio seating and you'll be in for a treat. read more

Delecroix is such a beautiful spot right on the Mississippi River, easily one of my favorite new restaurants in New Orleans. The view alone makes it worth the visit. You can watch the sunset over the water whether you sit outside or at any table inside. It was such a nice setting for dinner, relaxing but still lively. The staff was also amazing and our server went above and beyond helping us with food recommendations and answering questions. We had the bread service, crabby rice, snapper collar, and the seafood tableau, and everything was excellent. The bread was warm and fluffy. The crabby rice and collar were both packed with flavor, collar especially stood out, crispy on the outside but perfectly tender inside. We skipped mains since we weren't too hungry, but the seafood tableau was the perfect shareable addition. The different oysters from various regions were so fresh, and the oyster dip ended up being our favorite part of the platter. Even the shrimp was delicious, not your typical shrimp cocktail, but seasoned and flavorful. For drinks, I got the Swamp Thing, which honestly tasted like a frozen twisted tea in the best way, super refreshing and fun. We also had two desserts that were both really good and ended the meal perfectly. Overall, highly recommend checking this place out. New Orleans did not disappoint!! We started with Boudin balls (had Monterey Jack cheese) . I had fried chicken with red beans and rice. He had Momma's Drum Almandine. We shared bread pudding. I had a Marsh Fire Everything was delicious!! David was our server and took very good care of us. Only downside was there was a music festival so the porch was blocked off, a banner blocker the view to the river (one of the reasons we picked the restaurant was to see the river) and it was kinda loud. But these things I do not hold against the restaurant so I still feel like it was a 5 star dinner experience. read more

Stellar oysters! We chose the two varieties from LA and they were so so great. We like the briney kind and they were both that way. We got a table outside so we could watch the boats come in and out. They were busy yet service was still super fast and friendly. Super clean and nice as well. read more
