Finally had an opportunity to visit in person after a takeout experience a few years ago. First, no reservations needed, walk ins are accommodated on the spot Located in the heart of the live action in the French Quarters, this restaurant is playful, fun, and lively! Olivia-you're the best! Hands down appreciated your recommendations as a native. You guided us to the perfect dish. Drinks: I ordered the Bay Breeze which came with a little sizzling fun. This drink was phenomenal! I was told that since I like a good hurricane, this special was worth trying. They were correct. It was the kick that I needed. Food: the Blackened Redfish was sinfully good. I mean, dangerously good and oh so tasty. Baby I tore it up with no regrets. The fish was perfectly seasoned as were the shrimp. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes mashed to perfection. The turnips greens were divine! I mean, nothing on this plate was bad. No dessert for us because dinner left no room. Overall this was a great experience and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to see and enjoy.
This was my first meal for my New Orleans trip, and let me just say, this was a fantastic way to start off the trip!! Between me and my husband, we ordered the oceana's famous oysters, redfish oceana, shrimp etouffee, and the chocolate kahula mousse. Oh my goodness, absolutely everything was so delicious. I would say ordering the oysters and the etouffee are must tries! My husband and I are usually not huge fans of oysters but Oceana's converted us. We came around 9pm on a Sunday night and were seated right away. Service here was so friendly and we really felt taken care of. The ambiance here was sit down/casual. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and wish I had the time to go back one more time during my trip.
Oceana Grill has been a favorite stop every time I visited New Orleans, but sadly, the quality has declined so much that I feel compelled to warn other visitors. The alligator bites were bland and incredibly boring, lacking the flavor they once had. The crab cakes were equally disappointing and left nothing positive to say. To top it off, they couldn't even get a cheeseburger right. The jambalaya, well no thanks. It's disappointing to see such a once-reliable restaurant fall so far. I hope they can turn things around, but based on this visit, I can't recommend it.
A 3.5. Stopped here on a Friday night, no wait! Ordered the half dozen oceana oysters. A miss, the sauce was good that they were smothered in but 3/6 of them had lots of shell & sand in them. Also got a glass of wine, very small. Ordered the mardi gras pasta, tasted like fettuccini Alfredo, with shrimp. Would probably skip this next time, very heavy but lots of crawfish! Also ordered the taste of New Orleans and this was the highlight! Beans had a smoky meaty flavor, and the other bowls were all equally delicious.
Dontrell was our server and he very attentive and really great service. The food was amazing and we really loved everything. We were sad quickly and just really wanted to give Dontrell a shoutout!!! We didn't get a chance to take a picture of our food, but it was yummy and it was gone!!
Amanda provided the utmost great service! The food was really really good. Thoroughly enjoyed our bloody Mary with the cutest crab on top and all the fried deliciousness. The French toast with the chicken sausage was also very good. Super cute place and a great vibe.
Like many places in the French Quarter, a beautiful restaurant was hidden behind the door of Oceana Grill. When we walked in we weren't expecting to be guided up two flight of stairs to a beautiful dining area. I wishbI remembered to snap some photos, because it was really nice inside. We decided on this restaurant because the menu outside showed some great vegetarian options, as well as the gumbo my friend was looking for. Vegetarian options are marked and there were a few to choose from, I settled on the Vegetable stew which was cooked in a tomato base. It was really well seasoned and had great flavor, but the rice and bread was stale. We weren't expecting dessert, but our server surprised us complimentary bread pudding for my friends birthday. That was delicious, it was sooo buttery, the only sweetness coming from the rich caramel topping and whipped cream. The flavors were balanced and the pudding was not soggy at all. Our server was a sweetheart, but the manager ended up stepping in for small matters when we wanted to pay separately and she wasn't nearby. We do feel really bad that he scolded her a little. Overall a decent place to eat near bourbon street that is suitable for Vegetarians, though the food could be a little better in some ways.
Ashleigh was great. Food GREAT. Had the Red Fish special of the day. Absolutely amazing. The gator bites appetizer (Half and Half) was a terrific surprise!!!! Yum Yum Seafood gumbo was on point. Cocktails were a good treat. Full bar available. Clean French Quarter restaurant.

Really good food. Cool outdoor patio with a large cooler that made it bearable to sit outside. The food was really good, highly recommend. The staff were friendly, personable and professional. If you're contemplating it- go. You won't be disappointed.

Full marks for the food, but I had to deduct a star for the slow service especially since the restaurant was almost empty. We walked in for a late dinner and were seated promptly, and our order was taken quickly as well. However, the food took a long time to arrive. We had to remind the server multiple times, and each time we were told "five minutes," which made the wait more frustrating.it ended up being about 50 minutes before we got our meal. We ordered the grilled oysters and the gumbo combo, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors, spices, and overall preparation were excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. Pricing felt fair for the quality and quantity of the food, but the wait times could definitely be improved.

I love the food flavors of New Orleans, especially restaurants that serve trios of some of what I consider signature NOLA/Louisiana dishes. Oceana has a "TASTE OF NEW ORLEANS" trio that consists of jambalaya, crawfish etouffee and red beans and rice and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed the spinach dip as an appetizer. Our table was outside but they had big fans to keep you cool and I like the courtyard scenery. Our server was great. Excellent experience all around. read more
Oceana in New Orleans was SUCH a vibe !! The ambience was absolutely perfect for dinner. Warm , lively, and just the right energy for a night out. The service made everything even better everyone was so kind, attentive, and really made us feel taken care of the whole time. Now let's talk about the food... I literally had to get two orders of the chargrilled oysters because they were THAT amazing. So flavorful, perfectly cooked, and just addictive honestly. I ordered the Redfish Oceana and WOW. The sauce was phenomenal rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fish. The redfish itself was so juicy and cooked perfectly, and the sides tied everything together so well. And the drinks?? 2 locals recommend this place and I was disappointed. I didn't care for it. The gator bits were good. If you can get past the idea of eating gator, it's actually ok. Texture is soft, tender. The Mandi gras pasta is good. The crawfish gives the dish more of a seafood flavor. The pasta sauce is really good. Waited about 20 minutes for a table. Service was good but had to wait a little after we were done. Only came here off recommendations, I personally wouldn't recommend. read more
Luckily, the line wasn't too long when we arrived. You wait outside, and someone will come out and ask how many people are in your party. There were two parties ahead, and it took about 20 minutes for us to be seated. Our server was very friendly. We ordered the Redfish Oceana, which comes with a side of mashed potatoes and mustard greens, and the crab cakes from the appetizer section to share. Both dishes were fairly generous portions and delicious though we found the crab cakes to be a tad too salty. Overall, a good experience and meal that we would recommend. read more

We had an amazing experience! I ordered the seafood gumbo, and it tasted so good full of flavor and absolutely delicious. We also tried the Cajun jambalaya, which was just as amazing. Our server, Jada, was incredibly sweet, attentive, and helpful throughout our meal. She made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. Located in the hustle and bustle of the Bourbon street area, this awesome gem has both indoor and outdoor seating. From the moment we walked in we felt like family! We were celebrating my daughter's 2nd Master's degree graduation and she wanted seafood. Angela, our waitress, was awesome. She made recommendations and brought us drinks faster than we could even ask. Her knowledge and personality made our meal taste better - I realize that sounds weird, but she knew her stuff!!! We did the house special, the crab cakes, and the fried chicken! We added drinks and dessert as well. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the crab cake was the best we had in NOLA! If you're in New Orleans, you have to stop by Oceana Grill for their famous oysters! I tried Oceana's Famous Oysters and they were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Definitely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was lively and fun, with that classic New Orleans energy. Service was great too--friendly and attentive without feeling rushed. Nice interior, hospitable service, my shrimp po boy sandwich looked really tasty! Sadly I didn't hang around to try it... Just go. Let this be the only review you need to convince you to grab some of the most flavorful and delicious food you can grab in New Orleans. The Cajun fries with blackened gator bites- delicious! The red fish? *chefs kiss* The Alfredo pasta with the shrimp and or chicken? The best!! (And it had a bit of a kick that I loved.) This spot also has mocktails which is great for someone like myself that has been been drinking alcohol. The prices were on the more affordable side for dt NOLA. It's a big spot but can def get busy pretty quickly but you don't need reservations. Enjoy your experience!! read more

Popular spot right off Bourbon. The service is decent. Not super attentive but quick enough. The food is good but I feel a bit pricey for the feel of the restaurant. That being said, I've come every time I visit New Orleans. I love the Mardi Gras Pasta. The shrimp creole was great as well and had a good spice to it. Visited Oceana Grill, just off Bourbon Street, and had a really enjoyable experience. We went early and were able to grab a great seat by the window next to the balcony. The balcony isn't open on certain weekdays, but the window table still gave us a nice view and added to the lively atmosphere. The place has a fun vibe and welcoming energy. We ordered the Oceana Famous Oysters--served sizzling and absolutely delicious. This was actually the third restaurant where we tried New Orleans-style oysters, and this one was by far our favorite. Service was friendly and attentive. By the time we left, there was already a line forming at the door, so arriving early definitely worked in our favor. Nahhh never would go back here. I ended up returning the food to the kitchen. We came here since there's so many great reviews. It's a large restaurant with an indoor outdoor court yard area. I was excited to try it out. We ordered our food, the waitress was kind. After ordering I went to the restroom, upon leaving the restroom there was a FAT roach stuck on its back!!! What really grossed me out about this is I saw buckets with food in it on the ground in the kitchen. When the food came out I still tried each item. I just didn't like it. I'm not sure if it's me being freaked out about the roach and hygiene of this place, but I did attempt to eat the food nevertheless and didn't like it. My husband ordered the Mardi Gras pasta and he's not picky but he did not finish eating his food. He ate half of it but looked unhappy the whole meal. When I asked him his thoughts he said both of us can't return our food to the kitchen. The manager asked why we didn't like the food and gave me a refund on my meal. I simply said it tasted off. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans. This was our last night in NOLA and compared to everything else we ate this was the worst one. All the food tasted off. Some items had too much seasoning. I noticed others around us didn't eat much of their food either so maybe it was an off night. read more
We were starved and wanted to eat right away, and came across this place, which was not far from our French Quarter hotel. It really seemed aimed to tourists, but it is right if off of Bourbon Street so that's to be expected. Our server was soft spoken but very nice and attentive. We were in a bit of a hurry, so we didn't linger long. We skipped cocktails and got the "Taste of New Orleans" which was a trio of etouffee, smoked andouille sausage, Creole jambalaya, and red beans and rice, and a blackened fish po' boy with fries. I didn't care for the red beans and rice at all, but liked everything else, except the etouffee. I LOVED the etouffee! It was SOOO yummy. I kicked off my half day in New Orleans at Oceana Grill, nestled right in the heart of the French Quarter--and what a way to start. First of all, the people of New Orleans are incredibly friendly, and our server/bartender was the perfect example of that Southern hospitality. He was warm, welcoming, and spot-on with his recommendations. The restaurant itself is super cute with that classic French Quarter charm. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans, which came with Creole jambalaya, crawfish étouffée, rice, and smoked sausage--and wow. Every bite was rich, flavorful, and authentically New Orleans. Truly to die for. If you're visiting the city and want a delicious introduction to local cuisine with great service to match, Oceana Grill is a must. Highly recommended. read more

First time going to oceana. It was pretty delicious and I love the atmosphere. It was a quick turnaround trip to New Orleans, coworker loves this restaurant. Atmosphere was good and welcoming. Our waiter was attentive and she was really nice. My coworker that goes all the time had her as a waiter before and she loves her. My shrimp was delicious. The fish was cool. I should have gotten all shrimp but I will definitely go back. read more

Absolutely - Fresh fish and veg. They have tremendous options.
Is the full menu available in the morning ? Or only the breakfast menu is available for mornings?
I believe it's just breakfast until 10:00 am and then lunch items are available from 10:00-1:00.
Is this place wheelchair accessible?
I believe there is a step or two to get In from the sidewalk to the door but inside you should be able to maneuver. I would image the staff would easily help and there always seems to be a line of people which I would hope would be a couple of Good…
Can we make reservations?
Yes you can make reservations, but with anything if it's a super large party be aware they may need to separate / break down in 1/2. We made a reservation for 10, and we had two back to back tables.…
Is there a dress code for Saturday night?
No there's no dress code at all! Hopefully you can meet Chris and Erin ! They're the best !
Does Oceana Grill still have Dirty Rice? Is it on a dedicated day? I make it at home but my partner loves to enjoy it when we visit NOLA. Thanks much. :-)

How's the parking?
It's street parking, so can be hit or miss. We parked a couple of blocks up and walked back to the restaurant.
Can I bring my dogs here anywhere?
I did not think so. I'd call the restaurant to confirm, but I didn't see any dogs in the area or restaurant.
Do they have crawfish? Also will they substitute fries for something else?
There is crawfish in 12 of their recipes and for $5 one can add a side of crawfish tails to many entrees. Please eat a couple dozen for me!
Is there a happy hour?
They do not have Happy Hour. Most places in New Orleans typically do not have Happy Hour because you can almost buy alcohol hours a day.
Is there a kid's menu? If so, what's on the menu?
I believe so! According to their website they have cheeseburgers, fried shrimp, cheese sticks, and chicken strips.
