Really good food. Cool outdoor patio with a large cooler that made it bearable to sit outside. The food was really good, highly recommend. The staff were friendly, personable and professional. If you're contemplating it- go. You won't be disappointed.

    Gatir bites blackened

Oceana Grill is a solid stop if you're looking for classic New Orleans comfort food in the heart of the French Quarter. The atmosphere is lively, the service was friendly, and the food came out hot and flavorful. The blackened fish was well-seasoned and cooked nicely. The gator bites were tender with just the right amount of Cajun flavor, and the sides complemented the meal well. Overall, the food lived up to the reputation of New Orleans cuisine. My only disappointment was dessert. The pecan pie was delicious, but the slice was unbelievably small for the price. When you order a Southern comfort dessert like pecan pie, you expect a generous slice. The portion felt more like a sample than a true dessert, making the value hard to justify. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the entrées and the atmosphere, but I'd skip the pecan pie unless the portion size improves. Rating: (4/5) Chef Wilk's Tip: Come hungry for the seafood and Cajun specialties--they're worth it. Just don't set your expectations too high for the pecan pie portion. Southern comfort desserts should be generous, especially at that price.

Like many places in the French Quarter, a beautiful restaurant was hidden behind the door of Oceana Grill. When we walked in we weren't expecting to be guided up two flight of stairs to a beautiful dining area. I wishbI remembered to snap some photos, because it was really nice inside. We decided on this restaurant because the menu outside showed some great vegetarian options, as well as the gumbo my friend was looking for. Vegetarian options are marked and there were a few to choose from, I settled on the Vegetable stew which was cooked in a tomato base. It was really well seasoned and had great flavor, but the rice and bread was stale. We weren't expecting dessert, but our server surprised us complimentary bread pudding for my friends birthday. That was delicious, it was sooo buttery, the only sweetness coming from the rich caramel topping and whipped cream. The flavors were balanced and the pudding was not soggy at all. Our server was a sweetheart, but the manager ended up stepping in for small matters when we wanted to pay separately and she wasn't nearby. We do feel really bad that he scolded her a little. Overall a decent place to eat near bourbon street that is suitable for Vegetarians, though the food could be a little better in some ways.

TASTE OF NEW ORLEANS Creole Jambalaya, Crawfish Étouffée, & Red Beans & Rice with Smoked Sausage

I love the food flavors of New Orleans, especially restaurants that serve trios of some of what I consider signature NOLA/Louisiana dishes. Oceana has a "TASTE OF NEW ORLEANS" trio that consists of jambalaya, crawfish etouffee and red beans and rice and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed the spinach dip as an appetizer. Our table was outside but they had big fans to keep you cool and I like the courtyard scenery. Our server was great. Excellent experience all around.

Super Friendly Staff! What a cool place! I love all the old brick buildings and cool stairwells inside these kind of buildings. This place is huge inside! My buddy and I sat up on the second floor bar and had some delicious food and a beer.

Everything we had here was great. Food, drinks, service, all of it. The Oceana oysters were amazing. The poboy French bread was soft and fried oysters and coleslaw. Wow. This is going on my top places in the Quarter.

Full marks for the food, but I had to deduct a star for the slow service especially since the restaurant was almost empty. We walked in for a late dinner and were seated promptly, and our order was taken quickly as well. However, the food took a long time to arrive. We had to remind the server multiple times, and each time we were told "five minutes," which made the wait more frustrating.it ended up being about 50 minutes before we got our meal. We ordered the grilled oysters and the gumbo combo, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors, spices, and overall preparation were excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. Pricing felt fair for the quality and quantity of the food, but the wait times could definitely be improved.

Oceana in New Orleans was SUCH a vibe !! The ambience was absolutely perfect for dinner. Warm , lively, and just the right energy for a night out. The service made everything even better everyone was so kind, attentive, and really made us feel taken care of the whole time. Now let's talk about the food... I literally had to get two orders of the chargrilled oysters because they were THAT amazing. So flavorful, perfectly cooked, and just addictive honestly. I ordered the Redfish Oceana and WOW. The sauce was phenomenal rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fish. The redfish itself was so juicy and cooked perfectly, and the sides tied everything together so well. And the drinks?? Phenomenal. Everything was just hitting. I would go back in a heartbeat

2 locals recommend this place and I was disappointed. I didn't care for it. The gator bits were good. If you can get past the idea of eating gator, it's actually ok. Texture is soft, tender. The Mandi gras pasta is good. The crawfish gives the dish more of a seafood flavor. The pasta sauce is really good. Waited about 20 minutes for a table. Service was good but had to wait a little after we were done. Only came here off recommendations, I personally wouldn't recommend.

Food was okay. I enjoyed the crawfish, sausage, and bread. Not really a big fan of red beans. Overall a great experience!

Luckily, the line wasn't too long when we arrived. You wait outside, and someone will come out and ask how many people are in your party. There were two parties ahead, and it took about 20 minutes for us to be seated. Our server was very friendly. We ordered the Redfish Oceana, which comes with a side of mashed potatoes and mustard greens, and the crab cakes from the appetizer section to share. Both dishes were fairly generous portions and delicious though we found the crab cakes to be a tad too salty. Overall, a good experience and meal that we would recommend.

Our waitress had an attitude. The food taste like Zatarian's. It shuck the liquor off bur not good Louisiana cuisine at all

Gumbo was just okay. Gave an extra star because staff were friendly and attentive. Good place to watch a game at the bar.

Tasty looking sandwich I didn't eat

    Are there gluten free options?

Absolutely - Fresh fish and veg. They have tremendous options.

Is the full menu available in the morning ? Or only the breakfast menu is available for mornings?

I believe it's just breakfast until 10:00 am and then lunch items are available from 10:00-1:00.

    Is there live music?

    None when I was there.

    Is this place wheelchair accessible?

I believe there is a step or two to get In from the sidewalk to the door but inside you should be able to maneuver. I would image the staff would easily help and there always seems to be a line of people which I would hope would be a couple of Good… Read more

    Can we make reservations?

Yes you can make reservations, but with anything if it's a super large party be aware they may need to separate / break down in 1/2. We made a reservation for 10, and we had two back to back tables.… Read more

    Do they take walk-ups?

    Yes they do

Do they ask for vaccination cards?

    Nope they don't

Is there a dress code for Saturday night?

No there's no dress code at all! Hopefully you can meet Chris and Erin ! They're the best !

Does Oceana Grill still have Dirty Rice? Is it on a dedicated day? I make it at home but my partner loves to enjoy it when we visit NOLA. Thanks much. :-)

Yes! They do. It's so good too! Have fun and eat some for me

    How's the parking?

It's street parking, so can be hit or miss. We parked a couple of blocks up and walked back to the restaurant.

Can I bring my dogs here anywhere?

I did not think so. I'd call the restaurant to confirm, but I didn't see any dogs in the area or restaurant.

Do they have crawfish? Also will they substitute fries for something else?

There is crawfish in 12 of their recipes and for $5 one can add a side of crawfish tails to many entrees. Please eat a couple dozen for me!

    Is there a happy hour?

They do not have Happy Hour. Most places in New Orleans typically do not have Happy Hour because you can almost buy alcohol hours a day.

Is there a kid's menu? If so, what's on the menu?

I believe so! According to their website they have cheeseburgers, fried shrimp, cheese sticks, and chicken strips.

Is it the same owner from Kitchen nightmares?

According to my son who watches this show religiously, YES. They are one of the very few that have made it.

I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.

We waited approximately 30 minutes before our waiter even came to greet our table, which set a disappointing tone for the entire meal. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for. It's possible the long wait and lack of attention from the staff affected the overall experience and my enjoyment of the meal. The restaurant has potential given the nice atmosphere, but the service needs significant improvement. Until then, I can't rate it any higher than 2 stars.
