We went to Drago's during our visit to New Orleans. We had been told by several friends and residents (one street car driver) that this was the place for chargrilled oysters. They were on the top of my list and a must have while in town. We arrived late afternoon and found the restaurant to be very large inside and to our surprise extremely quiet. We were seated right away and our server appeared soon after. We weren't sure if this was our final meal of the day, but ordered a dozen chargrilled oysters for a great start. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed the large indoor grill with oysters on top. The chefs were grilling away and turned up the heat for a very fun show! When our platter arrived, some of the oysters were chargrilled more than others. I love them really charred so they were happy to accommodate me. One of the joys of eating chargrilled oysters is the bread you get for dipping into the sauce made with butter, garlic and cheese! After enjoying some very large, tasty oysters with that wonderful crusted bread, we couldn't eat another bite, until later ;-) . Because when in New Orleans, you gotta eat!!!
My friends and I decided to come here while waiting for our flight home from NOLA. The bartender at our hotel suggested going to Drago's, and we enjoyed our experience. We went on Mother's Day 2026, but were able to grab a reservation a couple of days before. There was a steady flow of patrons, but it wasn't packed. Since it's part of the Hilton hotel, it's pretty large and opens up to the hotel lobby and bar. We walked from our hotel, so I'm not sure about parking. We arrived a little early, but were immediately seated, which was nice, especially considering it was a holiday. I ordered a Prosecco to drink. I went with 2 other friends, so we decided to split a dozen charbroiled oysters. The oysters were delicious! I think I could've eaten 2 dozen by myself! For my entrée, I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Pasta with Creole sauce. The pasta was good, but not great. The shrimp were delicious, but the sauce was mediocre. My friend got a lobster cream sauce with her entree, and I put some on my pasta, and that was very good. The shrimp pasta was just shrimp, pasta, and the sauce. I'm curious how the Alfredo sauce would've been. I would return and try some other dishes, but will DEFINITELY get the charbroiled oysters if I come again.
Some people recommended Dragos, so gave it a try. It is located in the Hilton Hotel by the NOLO Riverwalk. Started with Chargrilled Oysters which were pretty good, however some of the cut up pieces of roll were stale. Then ordered Shuckee Duckee which is an apparent original dish there. This dish is supposed to have a "twice-fried Duck Leg quarter" in paste with Oysterz, well I don't order fried food often, however the Duck Leg did not appear in the least to be Twice Fried as it was not crisp at all, seemed Flash Fried. I tried asking the server and he just said it was fried, did not offer to remake it or call a manager. The Duck was not bad, however not as described or expected. The inside of the place was ok for a Hotel Lobby restaurant
I'll give a solid 4. Mainly because nothing I ate made me feel that I had to return, but everything was solid. The wait staff was a highlight. Personable and attentive. Drink stayed full. Suggested items. Friendly. So I came into town to take my mom here for mother's day. We had gumbo, charbroiled oysters, fish and shrimp with grits, bbq shrimp, a fried seafood platter and a red fish meal. Liked the gumbo. But everything was fine. Nothing memorable. But also nothing that me not want to come back. The fish on the fish and shrimp and grits was a little too cooked and thin would be my one genuine knock.
We only tried the Charbroiled Oysters (we're doing a mini oyster tour amoungst ourselves) & they were so good!! I was told they pretty much created the Charbroiled Oyster. So it was must for us to go. We sat in the Oyster Bar section & watched them make so many of them fresh in front of us. (Word of Caution: it gets pretty hot over there even though it's a pretty good distance away from the grills!) The service was A1, no complaints there. It was clean for the most part, I didn't use bathroom. The overall vibe and ambiance was unmatched for our experience.
I've been here 2 times, and both times I was satisfied with my meal. If you're a fan of oysters, don't skip out on the charbroiled oysters here! They're made to order and so hot when they're served. I'm not too big on them, but I always have at least one. I would recommend ordering the catch of the day. Service can be a little slow, especially during peak hours, so if you're in a rush this might not be the place for you.
This restaurant wasn't bad but it wasn't the best restaurant I tried on my trip. I do think it's a little over hyped. I would only recommend the oysters. The flavor of the oysters are good. They are garlicky, buttery, and I love taste of the char of the grill. But the size of the oysters are small. I ate the fish shrimp and grits. The grits and shrimp are good. If you google red fish, I'm pretty sure it's talapia. I asked the waitress what red fish was and all she said was that it's a local fish. I ate it because I had already ordered it, but it would be nice to know exactly what kind of fish I'm eating. The restaurant is big and spacious. Restrooms are clean but toilet seats are very, very low to the ground.
We randomly chose Drago's for three main reasons: they had charbroiled oysters, it was a 10‑minute walk from our hotel, and we were hungry and it was getting late--so I guess that makes four. With so many great restaurants in NOLA, I may need to start reviewing on a curve; otherwise, I'll just be handing out five stars across the board. The food and service were fantastic, but I can't say enough about how delicious the charbroiled and raw oysters were. The taste and size of the raw oysters were something I rarely experience. Usually, when oysters are this large, they lose flavor--these were both large and very tasty. BB
Drago's never disappoints! If I'm able, I always try to come when I'm in the city. If you want the best cultural experience try their oysters!! I got their seafood pasta and it was amazing. There is always so much food so you will definitely leave full. In a great location as well so you can walk around the city or the mall after to help yourself feel better. Looking forward to returning again soon
Price point is good, food is great. Atmosphere could use some work. Service is great through, Miss Trinice (I think I got that way wrong on the spelling), thank you lady for hooking up our group with some awesome drinks and coming back often. The oysters are the star here, salty, savory and butter on butter! You don't get many bad ones in New Orleans, but we loved these! Red beans was a hit and the bbq shrimp, while I wish they were head on, also awesome. Worth it and a great location where you can relax and get away from the madness of the streets.
Drago's Seafood was one of several spots recommended to me during my first visit to New Orleans--specifically for the famous charbroiled oysters. When I tell you I devoured them immediately... I mean it. I had never tried charbroiled oysters before, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but they were absolutely delicious. They were rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The dish also comes with bread so you can soak up the buttery, garlicky sauce surrounding the oysters--which is honestly half the experience. And in true "me" fashion, I definitely asked for more bread so I could keep dipping and make sure none of that sauce went to waste. I also have to give a special shout-out to my server, Otis. He was amazing--friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better with his great service. This was such a satisfying first introduction to charbroiled oysters, and I'm so glad Drago's was the place I tried them. I would absolutely come back for these again.

The fries and onion rings were warm and not hot. The fish was just average. The fish and shrimp gumbo was really good. I liked the flavor of the sauce and thought the dish was well seasoned. I haven't ever had a tomato base shrimp and grits but it paired really well!! The restaurant is connected to the Hilton so perfect if staying there!
Drago's was one of the highlights of our trip to New Orleans! It's located inside the hotel and their famous charbroiled oysters were buttery, cheesy, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor! The rest of our meal was just as impressive as we tried a few different options. everything tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, and the seafood was excellent. We stayed at the Hilton and decided to try Dragos for dinner Saturday night. The ambiance is really nice. There was a line, but it moved quickly. The restaurant is actually bigger than we thought. Our server was just okay, maybe she had a long day. I ordered the chargrilled oysters to start off, my husband had the gumbo. Both were delicious, no complaints. Our main entree. I ordered the main lobster and he ordered the Mediterranean fish dinner. The lobster had a little fresh taste, kinda fishy. I didn't too much like that and the butter didn't mask it. My husband said his reddish taste like vinegar. The potatoes that came with both meals were very delicious, nice and buttery and tender. I went to this restaurant on Wednesday at opening. My party was small and only included two people, overall, I would say the experience is pretty disappointing. The restaurant is located in the Hilton Hotel near the Riverwalk, and it's relatively dilapidated. You can tell it hasn't been updated in quite a few years, and the menus we received were a bit dirty and sticky. Those working, the host stand, seemed more concerned with getting people sitting down than actually talking, and greeting you. We let them know we had a reservation, and they set us at a table with two chairs next to the walkway. Considering the restaurant was relatively empty, we asked to be seated in a booth and were met with hesitation, and not allowed. However, as we sat there waiting for our small order of half oysters, and a side of fries we watched a table of three people get the same booth we were denied. The charbroiled oysters were okay they are an acquired taste but worth trying while in the city since it's a cultural staple in NOLA. They don't give enough bread to enjoy them with honestly. Overall - I think the dining experience is lackluster but appreciated the recommendation and I'm glad I tried it once. read more

I love, love, love Dragos. I loved the bar, the bartender - She is fabulous. I said I wanted a Hendrick's Martini, straight-up, very, very, very cold! she delivered perfectly! I was waiting on friends and made new friends at the bar (that is the true advantage of traveling solo and sitting at the bar, you meet all kinds of people); they were from Mississippi and they had their own list of restaurants, giving me a few tips. My friends came and we took our table. Our waiter was Freddie... let's call him "Fast Freddie;" he could take your order, another tables order, not confuse anybody and come back in record time. I had a dozen chargrilled oysters (that's why I go there, that's what they are known for), and they really know how to deliver! I supplemented that with a cup of gumbo (really should have had a bowl) and a caesar salad. I was so pleasantly suprised at the caesar; you know that's so pedestrian, it was delish! Dressing was on point. We all enjoyed our food. I can't remember what anybody else ordered because I was head down slurpin' my oysters and gumbo... My bill was $56.29 including tip + I had give Freddie a little Lagniappe - he was so good, so bill was $60.29. When I go back, I will repeat but definitely a bigger bowl of gumbo! read more

Chargrilled oysters are a must every visit. This visit I also tried the flour de lis shrimp, baked Cajun catch and browni à la mode. All were very good but i need those shrimp every visit from now on. My drink was never empty. The staff did an excellent job in checking on us and clearing any dishes. read more

I heard about charbroiled oysters and had to come to Drago's. They seem to have a good amount of seating and I was able to be seated right away coming in for dinner. I really enjoyed the oysters but it can be heavy. It was also nice dipping the bread into the butter as well! I also had their gumbo and their crawfish fest. The fish is a mix of crawfish cooked in 3 different ways. The fried crawfish bites was interesting to me as that wasn't something I think I've had. read more

Drago's is always on my places to eat list whenever I'm in New Orleans just because of their charbroiled oysters - easily one of the best bites in town even if you're not into oysters. I would also highly recommend their Gator Bites w/remoulade which will leave you craving seconds. I'm usually satisfied with just getting those two items, but another great small bite option is the Lobster Mac & Cheese. The dish is nice and cheesy, with decent size pieces of lobster in it. The service is typical of restaurant around the French Quarter - friendly and professional. The staff are also very open and knowledgeable when it comes to offering food suggestions as well. read more

Overall, this is a pretty casual seafood spot with a lively, slightly busy atmosphere. I ordered the crawfish étouffée and it had great flavor, it was pretty good. We also split the charbroiled oysters, which are usually what this place is known for. They came out hot and buttery, but unfortunately were a bit too salty for my liking, and even the bread didn't really balance it out, maybe it was just an off day. Service was quick and attentive, and food came out fast. Overall, not a bad experience, but the food didn't fully live up to expectations for me. read more

So Drago's is a mix bag for me. The thing that hands down stood out for me are the charbroiled oysters. They were absolutely delicious, but when it came to other things on the menu it was just okay. Not horrible, but the level of cuisine is competitive in New Orleans. Hands down the oysters are amazing, but I think I'd only come to visit here again for the oysters. This was still a great experience, and definitely worth coming to try if you enjoy charbroiled oysters. You won't be disappointed. read more

Happy New Year! To start my 2026, let's review our NYE dining choice. With my parents in tow, he chose Drago's. I'm so glad he did. This location is located inside a hotel so it's hustling and bustling. We had a reservation which served us well, as we were seated immediately. Waitress was great! Ambiance is that of a hotel restaurant, not fancy but not overly casual if that makes sense, you could dress up or down. Let's get into it! Gator Bites - You know what they say, it takes like chicken! Full of flavor, fried to perfection and delicious! Charbroiled Oysters - Delicious! Lobster Marco - LOOKs delicious and was! He got this and I'm getting this next time for sure! Seafood Pasta - love it! Full of flavor crab and shrimp! Can't beat this! Gumbo - Great! Cheesecake - Delicious! Drinks all were amazing! An absolute MUST! Their oysters are possibly the most divine thing ever. Try other things if you'd like but the charbroiled oysters are non-negotiable! Easy dining experience with tons of tables and quick service. It's inside the hotel but not super upscale attire wise. read more

Somewhat underwhelmed. I've heard this is a must try spot, but it felt like a tourist trap and the service was lacking. The chargrilled oysters tasted overly charred and took away from the flavor potential. I've had way better oysters at the New Orleans Marriott. The barbecue shrimp were really good, and the redfish was a decent entree. read more

First meal in New Orleans as this place was recommended by our Uber driver, people from our hometown who came to visit, and some people from our hotel. Walked in for a late lunch on a Wednesday. Seated immediately and greeted by our wonderful server. I forgot his name but he was one of the best servers I've had, super attentive, constantly refilling drinks and making sure our table was good. I'm not gonna lie, our table went crazy and ordered a ton of food. Every dish we ordered was amazing full of flavor. (We just found out we aren't big fans of gumbo) My brother said the fried catfish is the freshest tasting fried fish ever. "They must've caught this and just battered it" The blackened chicken was soft and tasted delicious. The Drago's charboiled oysters really stole the show. FLAVOR. GARLIC. BREAD? Stayed in the hotel this restaurant is in for a few nights as a waiting outside saw a guy approach and we got into a conversation told me he wasn't staying at hotel and came just for this restaurant. I'm a big fan of Shrimp& Grits! It's special here there is some kind of tomato paste or sauce they add in. This is in addition to a nice blend of spices. Friend that I was with ordered some oysters that were grilled. I'm not the biggest oyster person but whatever they put on them they taste mighty fine! Cooking them the flavor is also improved. A solid restaurant to give a try in the NOLA area- particularly if you are staying at a nearby hotel! For gluten free folks- the restaurant is knowledgable about what is GF, and they have some good options. (I had oysters as an appetizer, and vegan jambalaya!) Our service was good- standard! Ambiance was the same. I might say that there are some more "special" or "unique" places out there if you're on a trip to NOLA- but this is a super solid chain-style feel that you could give a try :) read more

One last delish seafood meal before heading home. Enjoyed the charbroiled oysters but I especially enjoyed my lobster Marco with a petite filet. It was so good! The angel hair pasta and sauce were so flavorful. We both enjoyed the yummy charbroiled oysters and a delish meaty crab salad. Hubs loved his red beans and rice with sausage and corn bread. Service was fair and the ambiance was nice. Very open. read more

Literally just ok. Service started off shaky. They tried to seat six of us at a very small table, which isn't great when you're about to spend a few hundred dollars. We asked to be moved and they did accommodate, but not without some visible annoyance, which set the tone. Food was hit or miss. The raw oysters were large and genuinely good. Unfortunately, the charbroiled oysters, which are one of my favorite foods anywhere, were underwhelming and lacked the depth and punch you expect. The crab dip was rich but flat, no acid to balance it out. The lobster wedge salad was fine, but nothing memorable. Overall, the food leaned heavily into "meh." Drinks were mixed. My prosecco was delicious, but there is no beer on draft, which disappointed several people in our group. One guest was also served red wine in a visibly dirty glass, which is a hard no. The biggest plus is the location. We were staying nearby, so the convenience was great. That said, I'm from New Orleans and know what this city is capable of food wise. This didn't live up to the reputation. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't special either. I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

My friend gave this place such great reviews and was adamant that we visit. I was pleased with her selection. This was my first time trying alligator and it was so delicious. Especially dipped in the sauce. I'd try it again. The shrimp pasta was very filling, they gave such a huge serving. My friends had the oysters and insisted that I try, which I gladly declined lol. The service was great and the waitress was joyous. I'd revisit when I return to NOLA. read more

Came here for happy hour but ordered from their regular menu as well. The restaurant was barely 1/4 full at the time and we were 2 people so we asked to be seated along the bench seating but was told they were only for 4 people. Located in the Hilton hotel it is a convenient and decent restaurant. A bit overpriced for the quality of food. Went for lunch on a Saturday, seated right away. Service was great. The chicken and sausage gumbo was great - highly recommend! Eggplant appetizer was mostly breading. The crabmeat salad was fine but didn't have much flavor. read more

You may have already traveled, but they are back open although it's just weekends. Thurs-Sun according to their website or Fri-Sun according to their phone recording. Sunday 12-6. Other days 5-9.
Is Drago's open on Thanksgiving Day?
Yes. They stuff turkeys with a few dozen char broiled oysters.
