    Lobster Roll

Ordered lobster roll recently, haven't had it in awhile. Smaller than I remembered, but still ʻono!

Had the French Dip sans horseradish. The bread was good, and there was a decent amount of meat. The au jus was steaming hot and I liked the fact it wasn't horrendously salty the way most are. One person had the TOPSS sandwich. It was very fresh but taste-wise she found it average. As many others have mentioned, don't come here if you're in a hurry. They gave us buzzers to notify us when our order was ready but yelled out the names of others. One person in my party went back and got a cup of soup - and still had to wait. No one was in line behind her; why not ladle out the soup right then and there, and give her the piece of bread? (I think it's because they heat the bread a bit.) The counter, inexplicably, is really high. There's a plank step to stand on. Being short, I could barely see the credit card machine. Having a mobility disability meant it wasn't safe/feasible for me to step up on that plank.

Food: 5 mics Service: 5 mics with Aloha Ambiance: 5 Mics Food: Homemade Fresh Sourdough sandwiches. My first stop off da plane when i visit Kauai. We always stop in for Da Lobsta Roll. Dis is the bestest on the westest Lobsta roll. I used to love the club sandwich. Service: Kauai kine aloha! It can busy during lunch and you may have to wait but just be patient. Ambiance: Mom and pops vibes. Seating is indoors and outdoors with TVs. I've been coming here since 2000...this place is my first stop for on lobstah roll when I land.

Pastrami sandwich with little meat and stale bread.

This place was pretty bad... customer service was so horrendous here and the food wasn't even that good. When we walked in there was only two people there. We then ordered a pastrami sandwich and a French dip sandwich. Then there were three other locals or islanders that ordered after us and two of the groups ordered sandwich's as well. It then took 45 minutes to get our food. All the locals were served before us and all ordered after us. We also asked 30 minutes in to see where our food was at for the past 30 minutes because we only wanted to stop in there for a couple minutes and they said they where waiting on the pastrami sandwich which took 15 minutes to make. It should not take 45 minutes to make two sandwiches. The last time we were here it also took 45 minutes for a couple of sandwiches two years ago. During this I overheard the lady that served us talking to another customer on the phone and she asked if they were an Islander. Also the food wasn't that good as well the French dip didn't have a lot of meat but it was ok. The pastrami sandwich however was pretty bad; the bread was stale and there wasn't that much meat. After this we literally went to Costco because the pastrami sandwich wasn't very good and got food there for 6 times cheaper and it was better than the sandwich's that we got. Overall I would not recommend eating here due to the lack of customer service and the food. We used to come all the time 15 years ago and the place has degraded over time.

Sandwiches are so delicious. Perfect for a beach day. I always get the Carolina. But in cozy weather days the lobster roll with clam chowder is so good. Their bread is made fresh.

While recently visiting on the island of Kauai, my son took me out to lunch. We chose to dine at deli and bread. I ordered the."CRIMP" sandwich on sourdough bread. I called in the order ahead of time and it was ready and waiting when we got there. There was an area for indoor dining as well as outdoor dining which was well organized and clean. My sandwich was very delicious! I would give this place a five star, but the price was quite high for a sandwich

Incredibly disappointed by the meatloaf sandwich. Not a typical meatloaf flavor wondered if I was eating mystery meat...

If you look at my photo attached, you'll see one of the carrots in the shape of a heart!!! A sign from God that I'm eating the right food for my dear heart! Highly recommend this awesome market that reminds me of Whole Foods!

I chose the nori bowl which was filled with brown rice, greens, carrots, sprouts and tempeh (you can pick tofu instead of tempeh). I probably should have chosen the tofu since that's my typical preference but I wanted to try something different. The tempeh was still good. The sauce on top was flavorful. It took about 15 minutes to get my food since there were several orders ahead of me. But I was able to look around the grocery store. Everyone was friendly and checked how I was doing or wanted any water while I waited. I was in a rush and ordered take out. Otherwise there's a porch in the back for you to sit and eat.

Should have done more research before coming here…read more Grocery poke is surprisingly good in Hawaii, so tried to find the nearest supermarket near our hotel in Kauai. Our lunch on Day 3 had been a bust, so decided to eat in more and get needed supplies. I knew that Safeway was affiliated with Albertson's, which I THOUGHT owned Foodland (which has great poke)...so came here and bought other stuff (cause we were already there). Later found out that my assumption was incorrect. The employees here are tired of tourists, I think. The woman at the seafood counter (which has a small poke section), acted like she was doing me a favor when I asked for the rest of the fresh hawaiian style poke. When I asked how good the from-frozen ahi poke was, she mumbled something unintelligible. Cashiers don't have to be friendly but should be at least respectful, and appear as if trying The lane was open, so it wasn't too busy. She barely acknowledged us but did scan each item without being asked (and we were self self bagging). But then there was a pause to push the process to start the payment process. Then another long pause after I had entered my credit card. Then another pause to print receipt. Then finally after printing, she grabbed the receipt without looking at it and just stuck out her hand AT me to grab without looking at me. The last two actions were happening while she was having a funny (to her) conversation with a co-worker. Not good when two employees together are acting like this without shame. A part of me wanted to lightly slap her receipt-holding hand and tell her "Didn't your mama teach you manners?". Purchases: -- 2 bagels ($1.19 each) -- small Lucerne milk ($2.89) -- small cream cheese ($5.99) -- fresh (not frozen) ahi tuna ($29.99 per pound, paying $21.29). -- six pack can of Maui Brew Mango Beer ($14.99 with Dep fee of $0.30 -- PB Blondie Bestie ice cream from Ben and Jerry, pint for $4.99 (normally $8.99 but on sale so very good price...needed to download the Safeway app since my Von's or Albertson's card doesn't work...had good free wi-fi in store).

So decided to go to Costco to see if their optical department could tighten my Costco glasses before heading back to the mainland. The optical department closes earlier than the store itself, so we ended up wandering around. We intentionally went there on the last day after our luggage had been packed, thinking it would prevent us from buying things to bring back. But there were two things that we don't see on the mainland, that were of good price: 1.5 Coffee beans from Molokai Estate Coffee (100% from Molokai, and which my wife confirmed later was very good) and a Ube cream Liquor from the Philippines, that went great with the said coffee. Both fit in our checked bags and made it home safe. It wasn't too crowded because it was close to closing and was of large size, including self checkout lanes. Another good visit to Costco.

We arrived late in the day, so we missed out on the fresh poke and other seafood goodies. At least were able to grab some bottled water, Taro Brand Salmon Lomi, and chips. Those items alone were worth grabbing, and lasted us the entire week. My admiration for this location is because it wasn't as crowded as the Honolulu locations. Or maybe we just arrived at a good time late in the day on a Monday. Here, we were able to navigate through easily and select various treats for gifting. Like Mauna Loa chocolate macadamia nuts, a variety of Hawaiian Host items, and I tripped out seeing these bell pepper crisp and a ramen crunch snacks. We bought two bags of furikake and shoyu flavored rice crackers, or arare. In the bakery, I died and really wanted to try this fresh baked Mayorca Suprema sweet roll. Check out my pic, you'll be droolin'! And you can't leave the store without buying a bag of Island Princess Macadamia Popcorn Crunch or their honey roasted macadamia nuts. We did see cheap, but made of decent quality rain jackets if you need one ($19). As well as some bargain deals on casual shoes and sandals. No problem upon check out, service was cordial. And oh yeah, their outside food court is the standard. Hot dog and a drink $1.50, chicken bake, and a slice of pizza. Sadly, nothing different. No issues finding parking either. In short, this Costco location has a wide variety of items not found on the mainland. Great gift items as well as supplies you'll need for your resort stay. I mean, you can go to the Island Market or ABC Store, but that's where it can start to get pricey. Just my thoughts and my words. To each his own!
