I been coming here for as long as I can remember. I loved it then and I still love it now. Not much has changed except the inside just a bit but every time I come here I feel like a part of the Ohana. I know it's a family owned and run business which I love being able to support local. The sandwiches are great so are the soups. Clam chowder paired with a lobster roll for the win. read more

We are here a couple of times in 2021. Went back today but was disappointed. We ordered 5 sandwiches. 2 of the five were made wrong. The person making the sandwiches was extremely rude and put out that the sandwiches needed to be remade. Probably will not be back! read more

I asked the super sweet girl taking orders what was the most popular and she said "you can't go wrong with their lobster roll, my hun." I wasn't even that hungry but once I unwrapped this and saw the cheese pull I knew I was going to be in love with this. This lobster roll was seriously the best lobster roll I ever had and at $11 it broke da mouth but not da wallet. Real lobster, fresh mushrooms, onions, mozzarella cheese, and a sprinkling of dill is what sets this lobster sandwich apart from all other lobster rolls I've ever had. Amazing! read more

I discovered this place awhile back on Kauai. It's definitely a hidden gem and everything tastes very fresh. I have never had a bad meal here. Their soup of the day was chicken noodle soup. It was probably one of the best soups I've ever had. This soup is probably my favorite from them. They are known for their clam chowder. My turkey sandwich tasted freshly made. Every bite seems light and not-over filling. The restaurant is always clean and staff is very friendly. Thanks for always making my experience great! read more

For a business to have a number to call for orders. They don't even answer the phone. I don't care how busy you are. But if I'm trying to call for half an hour.... at least pick up and say your busy or ask if I can hold for a bit. The fact that they ignore customers trying to place an order is very disappointing. read more

Came with the whole family. This place is very nostalgic. My sister used to work here when she was in high school. We ordered a couple of TOPSS toasted (Turkey Olive Pepper Swiss on Sour Dough) sandwiches, a large clam chowder & a lobster roll. They were all decent items. We came at lunch hour so we were told we had to wait 35 minutes for our food To Go. We were willing to wait but it did end up being more like a 45 minute wait. I always look in my orders to make sure everything is correct and when I politely asked the front girl handing off orders for a couple of spoons for the chowder, she stared at me and didn't say anything (she looked like she wanted to say something more) as she got the spoons but I don't know what the stare was all about... I don't know if it was cuz she was judging me or because she thought I was someone else but it made me feel uncomfortable. Anyway, we brought food to the food court to eat cuz the rest of our family members got food from other places. We shared our items among each other as we normally do as a family. It was disappointment to us to learn that the lobster roll is now made with imitation crab (pollock). I didn't even look at the price of the roll, perhaps that would have reflected that they don't actually use lobster meat. My sister told us they used to actually use lobster meat and that the items were not consistent to what they were in the back of the day. We remembered that the TOPSS used to be a thicker stack also. They were very decent sandwiches none the less. The bread is definitely the best part. I would still come back here again and recommend, maybe just not the lobster roll. Or they need to change the name of it to "Like Lobster Roll" ... LOL read more

Lobstah roll: before Iordered it, I asked the young cashier if this sandwich was made with 100% real lobster. She said yes. It's not. I got the sandwich to admit with my daughter who cannot eat surimi (fake krab) because of specific food allergies. I opened the sandwich and looked... sure enough, it's not 100% lobster. It's made with half surimi and half lobster. Surimi is what they make California rolls with. Because the service wasn't good, and my daughter couldn't eat the surimi, we walked over to the food court. The bread was good. The seasoning was good. But it's one thing to have food that's decent, but another when an employee misrepresents the ingredients used. Fix the attitude of the cashiers and train them on the actual ingredients used please! Came here for lunch this afternoon with some co-workers and absolutely loved it. Tucked into a shopping center what a great hidden gem...for lunch had the Club Sandwich. First the homemade sourdough bread really makes this sandwich special plus the freshness of all the meats and ingredients are amazing. Plus the sandwiches are huge and you for sure won't be left hungry. I also wanted to try the corn chowder and this as well was super delicious. I had the rollyn Rueben and it was OK. My son had the meatball sandwich, better than my sandwich but not out of this world. My main complaint was the service. It took over 45 minutes to get our sandwiches and the place did not appear to be that full (most of the tables were empty). It was 2 PM, so I would assume the lunch rush was over. read more

Located in the Kukui Grove Mall, this eatery is delicious and consistent. Everything I've gotten hear, probably have eaten hear around 10 times, I've enjoyed. Some of my favorites are the french dip, lobsta roll, bread bowl, I ask for the soup on the side, their soups are yummy. I tried the corned beef sandwich and turkey ala king soup yesterday. It was a huge sandwich but I finished it all cause it was so good. Like sandwiches, go there, you won't be disappointed. Things are made to order so it does take some time for your order, I'd say about 10 minutes. Call it in if you are in a rush. read more

Service was ridiculously slow and the sandwiches were pathetic. I used to eat here a minimum of once a week when I worked nearby. It was great! COVID? INFLATION? Whatever the problem, we will not be back. Service was ridiculously slow too. We live in Koloa now and wouldn't drive across the street for it, much less 20 minutes. Bread is still good. That's it. No meat, no shrimp with the fake Krab in the Crimp sandwich. 1/4 cup of filling at the most. Salad was dry and not the least bit fresh. One thin slice of turkey on the husband's Carolina. My husband is a fan of this place so we had lunch here today. As we waited in line to order, I grabbed a can juice and a small container potato salad from the fridge. The wait for our order took some time but it wasn't busy at the moment. We sat down and waited. We shared a roast beef on Rye with everything on it. The sandwich was pretty good as the bread was soft. My can juice has flour on top of it. Had to wipe it off. The potato salad was ok. I think it was a bulk type that they scoop from a large container, mass produced from somewhere else. There were around five workers behind the counter so I was wondering why our order took so long, other than them doing phone orders. read more

Pretty good place in the kukui nut mall in Lihue. Had us the lobster roll and the Boston clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. Bread is def fresh. Wish they had some pepper though so we could put it in the chowder. read more

These losers always have the phone off the hook. Can never make a phone order. You have to sit around for 30-40 minutes. Workers telling everyone 25 min wait for food while people who came in, stood in line, 5 minutes behind you get their food 10 minutes ahead of you. Don't get me wrong the food is great but their customer service is soooooo outdated. They've been around forever but have never to this day figured a way to sling sandwiches efficiently enough to take phone orders and get people their food in a fair manner? read more

Took way too long for 2 sandwiches. A veggie and an islander sub. 45 mins with like 6 people working and not during a rush either it was 3pm. Sad this is like the only place to really support local and get a sandwich. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

It wouldn't be right to give this Deli any less than 5 stars! * Food I ordered the "Tunacado" which was made up of tuna salad and avocado slices, all the veggies, with mayo & mustard on roll (forgot what kind of bread it was) and I have to say, it was DELICIOUS! The bread is baked fresh daily, and you can without a doubt taste the freshness in every bite. With tax, my total came out to $10.25! Not too bad since the food was good. *Ambiance It's a casual beachy ambiance. They have TV's displaying the menus and the staff is friendly. Used to not mind the wait but today was pretty bad, we waited over an hour for 2 sandwiches. What? They kept telling us 10 more minutes 10 more minutes. Well all those 10 minutes turned to 64 minutes. We went thru 5 bags of chips and 4 drinks before we got our sandwiches. Insane!! When we finally got our food my bread was white when I asked for wheat. Didn't wanna bring it back up and wait another hour. The most irritating thing, there were like 5 people who ordered after us but got their food before us. Bummers. They should offer an award for the longest wait. read more

Went to this sandwich place before we flew out on Saturday, Nov. 18 and have to say this was probably my worst experience of any restaurant I've ever had on Kauai in our almost 20 trips to the island. There were two people in front of us when we placed our order then more people came in after us. The first person got their order pretty quickly while we continued to wait. Then everybody behind us started getting their orders, and no these were no phone in orders. The person who got their order was done when I asked if they had called my number, they said no. More people came in, some phone in but most ordered at the counter. Five minutes later I asked again, the woman behind the counter said I was number 22 and there were three people in front of me. Not sure how that happened as there was only two when we walked in the restaurant. My wife went in 10 minutes later and she was told that we should have been told it was a 45 minute wait!!! How is that possible for two sandwiches? After five more minutes she got our sandwiches. I wish I took a picture of it, if her pastrami sandwich had 1 ounce of meat on it that would've been a miracle. It was supposed to have pickles and tomatoes and it had to small pickles and no tomatoes. This sandwich was a joke and obviously thrown together to shut us up and get us out of the restaurant. I worked in our family restaurant in the Bay Area for almost 30 years as a side job so I know the restaurant industry fairly well and this place was horrible. We get it, you don't like tourists but do you have to be so blatant in your discrimination? This was two days after having a wonderful meal and great service in Hanalei at Tahiti Nui's. I don't know how you got all those newspaper awards, your food and service were absolutely horrible and I will tell everyone and anyone who even thinks of dining here, especially if you're from the mainland. Everything about this place was an embarrassment. I should have asked for my money back and left without the sandwiches. If I could have left ZERO STARS I would have. You will have people saying what a great place it is and I'm sure it is if you're a local but for the visitors to the island it is a rip-off. Two sandwiches and a bag of chips was almost $30.00. You're stealing money. read more

Deli & Bread is da bomb!!! The Tunacado is my all time fave along with the Clam Chowder. We live on O'ahu now, but whenever we are on Kaua'i, this is a must! If you are a carbo-holic (like I am) take home a loaf of their fresh baked bread. It is amazing! read more

recommend this place for order-ahead great sandwiches! Sandwiches were ~$11 including my husbands Lobster Roll and my made to order vegetarian sandwich. We grabbed sandwiches to take to the airport for our flight (there is no food at Lihue!). Affordable yummy lunch spot! read more

Later found out that my assumption was incorrect. The employees here are tired of tourists, I think. The woman at the seafood counter (which has a small poke section), acted like she was doing me a favor when I asked for the rest of the fresh hawaiian style poke. When I asked how good the from-frozen ahi poke was, she mumbled something unintelligible. Cashiers don't have to be friendly but should be at least respectful, and appear as if trying The lane was open, so it wasn't too busy. She barely acknowledged us but did scan each item without being asked (and we were self self bagging). But then there was a pause to push the process to start the payment process. Then another long pause after I had entered my credit card. Then another pause to print receipt. Then finally after printing, she grabbed the receipt without looking at it and just stuck out her hand AT me to grab without looking at me. The last two actions were happening while she was having a funny (to her) conversation with a co-worker. Not good when two employees together are acting like this without shame. Lastly, 3) checking out. If you choose to self-check out... you may be confused. As it stands now, and for a really long time, there is one line to stand in for 3 lanes of check out. Is it logical: no. Does it confuse visitors and even people like me: yes. For some reason, Costco wants all self-checkout folks to stand in one line and then go calmly and orderly to whichever of the 3 checkout lane openings is free. This really confuses visitors, and sometimes even leaves them with stink eye or scoldings from the locals. After all, those who live on Kauai have been trained to the 1 line system. About 1/2 the time, there is a staff that alerts the next person to go to the available self-check out, but where they are not there, or need to assist someone with self-checkout or review and ID for alcohol: they are not there. I am really not sure why they have kept this single line system, rather than having 3 lines, but I guess there must be some reason for this. Does anyone know? 4) Please be kind to the staff, offer some aloha to them- Q, Carry and Deb are some of my favorite folks. Costco always tolerates me coming in costume as Darth Vadar and Princess Leia. The optical department closes earlier than the store itself, so we ended up wandering around. We intentionally went there on the last day after our luggage had been packed, thinking it would prevent us from buying things to bring back. But there were two things that we don't see on the mainland, that were of good price: 1.5 Coffee beans from Molokai Estate Coffee (100% from Molokai, and which my wife confirmed later was very good) and a Ube cream Liquor from the Philippines, that went great with the said coffee. Both fit in our checked bags and made it home safe. It wasn't too crowded because it was close to closing and was of large size, including self checkout lanes. Another good visit to Costco.

We really love the food. We love the Celebrado Family . Each one of them when serving the customers are so on it ... Very friendly and courteous . Their workers on the other hand that I encountered on the register were something else . I felt that they were rude and had bad attitudes. They weren't polite or professional at all. I need to express my concern and frustration today. I called for an order the day before for pick up on the next day . Sometimes I would air cargo food to Oahu for my family's request . And Lobster Roll is their favorite and special request . Anyway I placed the order in advance and to secure the order I also gave my credit card information to pay in advance . The girl I spoke to on the phone sounded very sincere and friendly . She said that they open at 10 am and there might be a wait of 15 minutes or more. I said no problem . The next day I receive a phone call from deli and bread to call them to confirm the order and to say that the wait would be 30 to 35 minutes . I said ok I'm still coming in early to wait on my order . Upon arriving, I was there 10:15 am, and was standing in line I noticed several customers already receiving their sandwich orders, I even heard some customers ordering lobster rolls. Upon reaching the register I introduced myself as picking up the 10 lobster rolls . The girl with glasses, I believe her to be Caucasian, didn't smile or acknowledged me. She turned around and went to check with the 2 guys in the back area that was making the sandwiches and came back and said it's still being processed . This was like 10:25 am and I already saw several sandwiches being picked up. So I asked and told my concern to the girl that it's really frustrating and disappointing to see other sandwiches all done and my 10 lobster roll has a wait of 35 minutes . I said I spoke to Mikaila yesterday when I placed the order and I said she was so nice and said that the wait would be about 15 minutes or so. Then a local girl heard me and says , " I told you that the workers don't start until 10 am and that your order wouldn't be ready until 10:30 -10:35. The girl you spoke to is just training. Then I told her why the long wait when other sandwiches and including lobster rolls are being served to customers that just placed their order and mines was placed a day in advance and paid? The local girl says it's because they are eating here and it's paid . That answer already irritated me and so I remarked back by saying " oh so I need to say I'm eating here to get my order faster? " The 2 girls were talking under their breaths and talking to the sandwich makers , and I was sure that they were bad mouthing me. I want to stress that I placed my order a day in advance, gave my payment in advance. I went to pick up my order and only to have 2 cashiers with rude and bad attitudes. I heard the local, rude girl call out loud at exactly 10:35 am 10 lobster rolls . Even with sharing my concern and frustration with the 2 cashiers, there weren't any apologies and no reaction to expedite my order faster. It seemed that yelling out my order at exactly 10:35 am was done on purpose and to irritate me. Please to the Celebrado family pass on your great customer care and service to your workers. We are not saying to fire them but to improve their customer service . We would really like to come back and order your great foods ! read more

The best part about the Deli & Bread Connection is their fresh baked breads. I was turned off when I learned the sandwich meat is store bought (Costco) and their famous clam chowder is not homemade (previously frozen and ordered through Koa Trading). Service is not the greatest either but for the most part workers are friendly. I wait an average of 30 minutes just for a sandwich and chowder. The longest I've waited was 1 hour and 15 minutes for 3 sandwiches that I called in to order. I live on Kauai and haven't gone there for 3 years. You're better off just buying their bread and making your own sandwiches. read more
