I'm changing my review form a 5star down to 2 star so I've been hyping dg up for my years now, you got to go kind of place and yesterday I went with friends and fam after years of hyping it up to them. And I was let down so bad by DG . They were out of most items and the ones they had were just so so . All the deliciousness that I have come expect over the years gone after one bite . A little sandwich shop tucked into the back corner of the parking lot behind Chick-Fil-A. I've been here for lunch on a weekday a few times. They have sandwiches primarily. I don't know what kind of deli it really is because where I come from, a deli has much more variety of food items and at least potato salad along with a variety of sides. I recall there being chips, pickles, and peppers available to eat on the side here. The sandwiches are very big and a half portion is plenty for one person. They put a little side salad on the plate along with your sandwich. The two different sandwiches that I've had here were very delicious. read more

First off the staff was very friendly. The food was pretty good. I ordered the stuffed avocado, but it wasn't stuffed in an avocado. The chicken salad was very good and the veggies on the side were really tasty, but there were just some slices of avocado on top, which was a bit disappointing. All the sandwiches were good- the meats are the star of the show- high quality and delicious! They are extremely heavy handed on the mayo though, if I'm in Boise and come here again, I'll definitely request light on the mayo. read more

So I found this place when we were downtown and I shouted, "food near me" at my Siri. It's tucked away behind the long fast food lines it shares its corner with. But if you look for the smoke, it will lead you to the barbecue that is sitting next to their entrance. Step inside and your mouth is soon to be in pure heaven! The bbq smell fills up the entire area and if you order their slow smoked brisket sandwich on a pretzel bun, you will be in for a treat. I made the mistake of ordering 2 of these sandwiches, one for me and one for my husband. It's huge! It's packed with this, straight from the bbq brisket. And this is not your Aunties, old, dried out Rosh Hashanah, Brisket. This is the kind that falls apart when you look at it. And it's on a homemade pretzel bun with all sorts of other good stuff to make your mouth water. One of these sandwiches would have been more than enough for the 2 of us. But lucky for us, now we have a whole sandwich to take home. Plus, we ordered one of their Turkey bacon avocado sandwiches to go, for our son. They kept it in the cooler for us while we dined in. Every sandwich I saw coming out of the kitchen looked well worth a try. Especially their pastrami! YUM! I felt like I was back at Katz in NYC for a moment! Where to start. In a nut shell this place desperately needs Gordon Ramsey. I ordered a Boise Cheesesteak...BTW, Cheesesteak is one word, not two, as the menu states. It's supposed to be Filet Mignon...which it may have been before it was super old & over cooked. I stopped in for the first time and ordered the turkey bacon avocado sandwich, potato salad and a drink. $15 later and before I can even fill my soda, my sandwich is ready. Granted, it was slow, but dang. The bread was very stale and the sandwich, especially for $10, was incredibly underwhelming. Think of the sandwich you put together for lunch at work with those ingredients and that's what you'd have. As soon as I opened it at the park, I had buyer's remorse. There was a brisket sando for the same price that looked incredible. The turkey bacon avocado sandwich was tiny, almost cute to look at like the meme "Feeling cute today, might not fill someone up later, IDK." I recently had the Golden Gate (lol) at the Griddle and it was the same price ($10) and was really quite remarkable. Similar ingredients, but executed MUCH better. It's hard to tell how someone thinks they're providing value for the pictured sandwich at $10. $6? Maybe. $5? Probably. The potato salad was average and I enjoyed the dill (don't forget to pick it up yourself before the register). For $10 this was an adequate lunch. For $15, this is absolutely unacceptable. Food: 4/10 - If you serve sandwiches, the bread just shouldn't be stale. Beverage: N/A - Not sure if they have beer or not. Second time stopping by. First time they were closed. What place isn't open on the the weekends? Deli George! Our son recommended and raved so it must be worth the wait! We returned. Returned and it smelled good. Front door was propped open with an old dirty gas grill. Tried to ignore that. Still went inside. Sort of reminded me of Jerrys in LA which is a compliment. So we ventured farther in and gave the place a good look over and proceeded with the menu. Initially behind the counter wasn't very friendly. The older lady was not friendly at all. Not sure what she was upset at but I'm guessing it wasn't us. A young man jumped up at the counter eager to order. I ordered the Not Italian and hubby ordered the Club on wheat. Both were good. I called right when they opened to order lunch because I was in a time crunch. When I got there, the door was propped open with a table at the entrance and I was helped promptly. I ordered the Turkey over Italy. It was thick with meat and toppings and the olive oil and vinegar made it moist and delicious. I really liked the flavorful bread. Very tasty sandwiches - Ruben that I have had on the east coast have corn beef with thousand island dressing but AM NOT COMPLAINING! Potato Potato. Wife had the brisket and was not disappointed. I should've walked out when I walked into the establishment.. boxes were everywhere, there was a strong smoke smell in the restaurant from the grill that was being used to prop open the front door! I love me a good sandwich and Deli George serves up some mighty tasty ones. I try to play it cool, but I do grunt happily as I make my way through an "Italiano Georgioso" ($10). Just listing the line-up that makes this sandwich grunt-worthy is making my tummy grumble right now: salami, ham, mortadella, provolone, red onions, mayo, and a little vinaigrette for good measure. So good. On days when I'm not sure what I want, or rather when I want to eat everything in sight, I'll order the "One Confused Sandwich" ($8/$5) which is a very generous portion of well, everything: turkey, ham, roast beef, and not one but two, two chesses, cheddar and provolone. Throw in some mayo and mustard and serve it on sourdough and I'm quite contented. The quality of the ingredients at Deli George is outstanding and they even take the time to roast their own chicken and beef. That is some serious dedication that I certainly appreciate. They also make their own potato salad which is worth the extra $2. And there are amazing home made cookies, you can't skip those now can you? I didn't. Oh, there are salads too, and I'm sure they're great, but I'm still munching my way through the sandwich menu. In typical deli style you order at the counter, pay, get your own drink, and then grab a seat in the spotlessly clean dining room. A super friendly employee will bring out your food when it's ready. Of course, if you'd rather do your grunting in private, then you can always take your meal to go. One of my new favorite sandwich shops! It took me a long time to finally make it in here due to their very limited hours. When I walked in, I was confused. It's like an old diner and I couldn't tell if I should sit down or order at the kitchen. Once I figured that out, I ordered the Georgioso which is an Italian style sandwich with "extra meat." It did not have much meat on it so that was a little disappointing but it was delicious. The bread is amazing and freshly baked. The second time I went back, I ordered the same thing and the meat was much more generous. Although on the second visit, we encountered the most rude waitress. If you want a 5 star sandwich, THIS is the place to go! One of the best BLTA sandwiches I've ever had (called BLTCA but I take the cucumber off, and I have it put on sourdough). Maybe my only complaint would be that I wish it was open later and/or open weekends! I would get to visit more often if that was the case. It's difficult to make it downtown between 10am - 3pm. Hands down one of my all-time favorite places to eat. Got my first experience when they were next to Skippers on Fairview. They hung their street sign upside down, so I had to investigate. Nicer location now at Broadway and Front. Great hand crafted sandwiches and homemade desserts (best cookies ever) adorn their creative menu. There's a sandwich to fit just about any palate. The theme here is quality ingredients, homemade when possible, put together in flavor combinations that are like no other deli around. Probably the best au jus I've ever had. If you're a beef eater, you should take notice of the Traeger by the front door. It's not a decoration. I think they smoke turkey and chicken on it too. Think brisket people. Gluten free and vegetarian options available as well as salads for the lighter fare. Pastrami? Yeah, they have that and make one of the best Reubens of all time. If you go for lunch, go early, like at 11:00. This is no longer a hidden gem and they service the courthouse and hordes of others from the downtown rat race. Unfortunately they are not open on the weekends and they close early. But they'll happily cater your office bash or other event. That's how you make friends. read more
